There is one easy way to read the Auckland weather – if you can see Rangitoto, it is going to rain. If you can’t see Rangitoto, it is raining. Ah but nobody will tell you when it is going to rain, right Mr Ring?

So the 6 year old goes to hit me with a cushion, and I said ‘Great, it’s international pillow fight day’, and grabbed a cushion too.
The wife gets all excited and grabs a couple of cushions and we all have a pillow fight for international pillow fight day.
At some point the boy says he also had pillow fights at school, and also at his after-school programme, for international pillow fight day. This brings the wife to realise I wasn’t making it up that it really was international pillow fight day.
The thing is, I think she’s actually disappointed that international pillow fight day is real, and that I didn’t make it up.

Caught a painful couple of minutes last week on television where politicians talk shit in a pub.

Heather Roy was on. She tried to justify student charges and loans by saying it had created opportunity for students. The hip and groovy presenter pointed out that they’d had a damn sight more opportunity when higher education was free. She just laughed in an embarrassed way.

Stupid broad. She’s got no clue about ACT policies.

The justification for student charges are that they are fair: those students who are bright and dedicated enough can borrow the money for an education which will see them earning a huge multiple of that over their lifetime, and those taxpayers on lower wages who didn’t go to university don’t end up subsidising them.

She’s a brainless blonde bimbo.

Yes perhaps she should have turned around and said, since ~~most~~ the vast, vast, vast majority of uni students have parents who can afford to pay, why should interest-free loans go to them, which the whole country has to pay for? Why not give interest-free loans only to poor kids who don’t have parents who can afford it? Wouldn’t that be fairer to the whole country?

Sadly that argument hasn’t yet arisen in the National Party Research Unit apparently. Let’s hope it does, very soon indeed.

The point is that people generally end up agreeing with ACT out of principle; the principle of individual liberty.

Roy clearly doesn’t have the first clue. She should be in Labour or National, the natural homes of people who want a realistic chance of bullying other people.

Why did JK agree to them going into the programme ??..

Come on people… We need more reality in our lives.. Not my money..

Have dropped $50,000 in the past 2 weeks on the Market… What form do I fill in for compensation ??..

Now we are into Tuesday 5th April in Auckland.

The weather forcasts said it would rain yesterday.

Still no rain, no sign of rain. What did Ken predict for yesterday, today and tomorrow ?

One thing is for sure, Ken couldn’t have got it as far wrong as the meteroligists/ experts
have for Auckland the last couple of days. They have been totally wrong.
i wouldnt call them incompetant but whoever taught them was.

Because the political parties here put far to much emphasis on attack politics, character assassination and trying to kick the government (and the country) in the guts. And the media and much of the public goes along with it, putting the boot in. Who in their right mind would want to join the petty party fray?

NZ politics – including the media and those who comment on politics – takes New Zealand’s tall poppy syndrome to a lower level. Anyone who rises must be taken down, by any dirty means possible.

An interesting observation. On the basis of that, in your opinion, given the current ‘spot of bother’ that the socialists find themselves in, is ‘playing dirty pool’ more an attribute of the left – or are they just more open about it than the ‘Nats?

And why is it that the left -eaning MSM, will quite happily ‘turn on their own’ when the socialists bring out the knives?

Maybe the Nats are generally more subtle, I haven’t looked that closely at it. DPF can be subtle, but in contrast is the Whale. Some still insist news of the Hughes incident was leaked from the Beehive, although I think it was inevitable that got out anyway so it would have been more choosing the timiing.

Rodney Hide was open in his attacks, until he realised that as you rise you chnage from hunter to hunted. Peters used the shotgun approach hoping the odd pellet would draw some blood.

I think the MSM will turn on anyone (but they seem to be more cautious about their own) who may provide a good sensationalist story – they aren’t worried by left or right, they want to be centre of the attention.
