We are pleased to unveil the lineup of guests for tomorrow’s Defeat Obama Telethon.

The 4th of July “Defeat Barack Obama Telethon” will be based on a similar model to Jerry Lewis’s historic Labor Day Telethons to fight Muscular Dystrophy. The event is sponsored by The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama, a conservative political action committee.

Rmney hasn’t even selected his vice president yet but is ahead of Obama.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney attracting 47% of the vote, while President Obama earns 44%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

The newest Civitas Flash Poll suggests that Mitt Romney has gained crucial North Carolina support in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare.
In a poll taken June 29-July 1, 50 percent of voting age North Carolinians supported the former Massachusetts governor. President Obama was backed by 45 percent. In the March Civitas Poll, Romney led Obama 47 percent to 45 percent.

I may have some inkling regarding his absence. Over at the Gym Fees thread, upandcomer genuinely and generously offered The Great Masturbator all manner of assistance in knocking his whatever-it-is site into some sort of income-generating shape. A tall order indeed.

With almost child-like simpering, The Great Masturbator came (sorry!) across all gratefull. I fear that it was only later that The Great Masturbator realised that upandcomer’s generous offer came with the pre-condition that he obtain gainful employment. You can imagine his response to the need to subject himself to the deathly cold embrace of employment. He was no doubt torn assunder emotionally but I am confident that his internal gyro will soon restore him firmly to his chosen path of indolence and navigate him away from any notions of doing what the people who support him do.

It is possble that given similar offers have been made in the past, he has suffered the further realisation that there are any number of people here who would go out of their way to help him if only he demonstrated some commitment to getting his life in order and sharing his load (sorry, that was unintentional) in our society. As you might appreciate, this would severely compromise his present ability to masturbate at will, quiet aside from the inconvenience of w****** (oops, wor**** for clarity).

What put me on to it is that you and phil never ever post at the same time, ever. It’s always a minute or more apart. I timed it over a series of yours and phils posts and while I couldn’t replicate it myself, I think you either have your ~~phil’s~~ son help you out when it all gets a bit intense between you and you -or- you use more than one computer at the library and sort of line all the comments up in advance. It has to be one or the other and there doesn’t seem to be a third alternative.

To all of you who are too thick to understand the Higgs boson, Stuff comes to the rescue.

Picture George Clooney (the particle) walking down a street with a gaggle of photographers (the Higgs field) clustered around him. An average guy on the same street (a photon) gets no attention from the paparazzi and gets on with his day. The Higgs particle is the signature of the field _ an eyelash of one of the photographers.

There seems to be a bit of a typo but apart from that you have no excuse to wonder about it any more.

So out of all the possible analogies one could possibly choose in the entire field of human imagination, both Reuters and Michelle freakin Cooke reckon a Hollywierd-photographer assemblage is the most likely to appeal to people.

I wonder is this because they think other analogies (whatever the fuck that word means) might not be so close to home as some celebrity being pursued down the street by idiots hoping to make $9.95 for snapping a shot of a human being who apparently is just way better than nearly everyone else because he happens to act (or pretend to)?

I’m afraid Pete you’ve just destroyed my last vestige of faith in human civilisation and I’ve just decided we don’t have any, anymore. It’s fucking over, as far as I’m concerned, from here on in. All bets are off and there’s no hope and it’s just not worth it, anymore. I’m calling in the Vogon inter-galactic super-highway construction vessel. They’ve been waiting for ages and I’ve just run out of reasons not to.

@ 6:16 was a good explanation of Higgs Boson using everyday language so no-one gets a furrowed brow Pete. And it wasn’t dumbed down.

Honestly, what do journos think we are. Do they have special courses in journalism school where they learn all about how mental the public is and how “the public” won’t understand the simplest things so you need to really talk to them as if they’re 10 year old children, and particularly dim children at that? Is that what all modern journalism is?

It’s just I rarely find myself listening to news shows which show an appreciation of their audience, which is a shame, for it they did show that, I imagine their ratings would shoot through the roof and the hosts would quickly find themselves being swamped by papparazi they would be so very popular. Isn’t that ironic.

What we need to understand is how those lotto balls work, then we don’t care if there’s an earthquake.

Not sure where you get that idea from Paul, but seems rather naive. Anyhoo, the important thing is, we’re talking about OUR will and God has given us free will to do whatever we wish to. Anything and everything is in our grasp. Sure, we get judged at the end. But we have a manual, telling us the game rules and how to play. Some never even bother reading it. Aren’t they just great big sillies. But the key part is Paul, God is with us, He loves us and He wants us to win. Life is OUR life through His grace. He doesn’t control us. We are free to ignore His grace. We suffer when we do, whether or not we recognise that until it’s all over and the tally is being counted.

Only the foolish would ignore delving into all of that, when determining their course and their direction and the wonderful thing is, you can change at any time, no matter what you’ve done.

@ 6:16 was a good explanation of Higgs Boson using everyday language so no-one gets a furrowed brow Pete. And it wasn’t dumbed down.

When I think about it, earthquakes aren’t nearly so worrying as irreversible human damage. Natural disasters, even the most devastating earthquakes, are still quite limited in scale compared to the effects of war, politics, depletion of resources, pollution etc.
