NASA’s Science News report for January 8, 2013 states,

“Indeed, the sun could be on the threshold of a mini-Maunder event right now. Ongoing Solar Cycle 24 [the current short term 11 year cycle] is the weakest in more than 50 years. Moreover, there is (controversial) evidence of a long-term weakening trend in the magnetic field strength of sunspots. Matt Penn and William Livingston of the National Solar Observatory predict that by the time Solar Cycle 25 arrives, magnetic fields on the sun will be so weak that few if any sunspots will be formed. Independent lines of research involving helioseismology and surface polar fields tend to support their conclusion.”

That is even more significant because NASA’s climate science has been controlled for years by global warming hysteric James Hansen, who recently announced his retirement.

But this same concern is increasingly being echoed worldwide. The Voice of Russia reported on April 22, 2013,

“Global warming which has been the subject of so many discussions in recent years, may give way to global cooling. According to scientists from the Pulkovo Observatory in St.Petersburg, solar activity is waning, so the average yearly temperature will begin to decline as well. Scientists from Britain and the US chime in saying that forecasts for global cooling are far from groundless.”

EU agrees to lift arms embargo on Syrian rebels

It looks like the EU is now helping Obama back the overthrown of stable government in Syria by the most militant of Islamic extremists. Of course the Islamic nation of the UK (complete with Sharia Courts) is doubling their aid too.

Though strangely Obama is not so supportive of the Chenchen Muslim separatists recently. (Previously described as freedom fighers) I guess he is cashing in on the success they had supporting Islamic radicals in Afghanistan when the Russians were there.

War memorial vandalised in wake of terror murder

A war memorial to the thousands of members of the RAF’s Bomber Command, who sacrificed their lives during the Second World War, has been daubed with graffiti as tension following the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby continued to intensify.

Vandals painted the word Islam in large red letters on the structure and also on the nearby Animals in War memorial.

It was not clear tonight whether the attack on the war memorials was the work of Islamic extremists [sic]

You missed the significance ut
if the solar cycle is in decline and has Been for years why was 2010 the warmest year followed by 2005?
According to your theory the temperature should have been in decline for decades.
Sun spot activity change is given a value of around -0.1 degree
soon overcome by the warming trend of around +0.16 decade
and on the same note the SOI index el Nino gives a value of + 0.3
With the present strongly negative phase in the SOI index over the last fifteen years since 1998 extreme event being the the oft repeated end of warming. it is obvious to scientists that its still warming when we next have a strong SOI index the record will fall again.
of course wingnuts will go back to denial of the temperature record then

Since 1979, NOAA satellites have been carrying instruments which measure the natural microwave thermal emissions from oxygen in the atmosphere. The intensity of the signals these microwave radiometers measure at different microwave frequencies is directly proportional to the temperature of different, deep layers of the atmosphere.

As of September 2012, the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU-A) flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite has been removed from the processing due to spurious warming and replaced by the average of the NOAA-15 and NOAA-18 AMSUs.

Contrary to some reports, the satellite measurements are not calibrated in any way with the global surface-based thermometer records of temperature. They instead use their own on-board precision redundant platinum resistance thermometers calibrated to a laboratory reference standard before launch.

What the hell is wrong with the NZ TV news? Why do they give Hone Harawira such a free ride? This is a man who was caught ‘Red-Handed’ absolutely fleecing the NZ taxpayer (remember the perk-trip to Paris?) and a man who responded to any criticism of his jaunt with racial taunts and insults….His family don’t exactly shower themselves with glory with violent assault after violent assault yet the left-wing media rush to him for comment on this that and everything like he is the bloody messiah..

it is the greenhouse effect holding in heat that allows the earth to keep its average temperature at 14
Adding more greenhouse gases adds more green house effect holding in more heat
until the energy in matches the energy out the earth will continue to warm
really none of this is new or controversial the green house effectt has been known for a century

Father O’Malley, the priest in a rural Irish community, is celebrating 25 years in the job, so the community leaders organise a champagne reception with a modest buffet in the local town hall. Before the buffet is declared open, Father O’Malley is asked to make a short speech.

Well, I was shocked, but over the years, I have found out that this community is not bad at all and have realised that the young man in question was very much an exception.”

This is greeted with a round of polite applause – just as the local MP enters the room, apologising profusely for being delayed in traffic.

It is the MP’s duty of course, to reply to Father O’Malley and deliver some kind of eulogy, so he takes the floor.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I remember very well the time when Father O’Malley arrived here 25 years ago. I personally had the honour of being the first to confess my sins to our new priest…”
