How is it possible to get a ‘down-tick’ for a comment even before the editing facility has finished counting down?
It’s messed up, and suggests that someone out there is supports the idea of getting away with raping underage victims – surely that isn’t an accurate depictation?

A ‘Stenographer’ (unless it is some ‘code’ for other activities unbeknown to me) is defined as ‘One who practices the art of writing in cipher [code \ cryptography’.

I hope this helps, although I have absolutely NO idea as to whom Iain lees -Galloway might be (which may be just as well).

Is there an official term for the “born again Greenies” that keep popping up. Theyre the ones who have been working all their life and now have all the trappings of life but are now wanting to get enraged by any green issue. Although they’ve had the freedom to create their own life, they now want to tell everyone else how to live theres, including Kauri tree sitting, Facebook spamming and general uninformed abuse aginst AGW skeptics.

Is there a name for them?

How long when conspiracy theorists on social media will search out for look a likes and declare the 20 slain Tourists and survivors as crises actors?

Spot e.g badges on security forces that look remarkably similar to a US private security firm and then leap and jump to conclusions ?

Inthisdress, I agree. Smacks of boys club (in that police area). The roast busters just being boys, doing what boys do. NO, this was underage rape, girls too young to have the ability to agree to sex.

These predators were setting out to get girls drunk so they were compliant. This is not minor fun but causes depression and loss of their self-esteem, and the girls may live with that betrayal for the rest of their lives.

Someone in the police needs to take responsibility.
The best thing would be for the police to bring these roast buster arseholes before the court and throw them in jail where they belong.

Who would want to be a senior Policeman, to spend most days before the Media cameras apologising and being criticised for every and anything, that the Police do, or have done. Thankless task, but that is what many in the media want us to see in the Police. They would be happy to see no Police, SIS and/or GCSB.

There are very many good and even great Policemen (Police women inclusive) in this Country so let us give cheer for a very thankless task. They will be there when and if you want them.

On the subject of feeding children breakfast and lunch at school
– Why should I be responsible, as a taxpayer, to feed other people’s schoolchildren during school term ?
I understand that the Sanitarium/Fonterra scheme goes remarkably well for breakfast.
I know a low decile school near me is highly supported by the Supermarket across the road from the school also.
I believe that the etnic spread is very varied from recent immigrant children, Islanders and Maori with “Pakeha/Palangi” representing something like 10% of the pupils.
Surely, feeding a child must remain primarily the responsibility of the parents.
What happens after school term finish ?
Why does it appear that obesity is relative to many of these children ?

I’m a bit different from you, i don’t think that the atomised, multi-racial, multi-historical, multi-lingiuistic, multi-ancestral, multi-religious societies that every single White Christian society is having forced on them without their consent are an improvement over and far more socially cohesive and stable and less conflict prone than traditional mono-racial societies, when all the evidence proves the very opposite is the case. Unlike you, I don’t think “multiculturalism” is ushering in a golden age of inter culture understanding and peace and tolerance and vibrancy when in fact what I observe from all around the world, every single day is examples of the opposite.

Getting rid of strong men in “multicultural” places like Tunisia, Syria, Yugoslavia does not usher in a new age of cuddly warm democracies and all it did was empower islamofascism ably assisted by the useful idiots like yourself.

We in the West however face a bigger danger than islamofascism, we are cursed with cowards and fools for leaders, liars in the MSM, and a dumbed down, naive population of which there are many “Stephieboys” whose wish for peace is so great they are leading us to a war of epic proportions.

It was rumoured that one of the Roast Buster lads was the son of a cop.
The reluctance (in this case) to even interview the perps was amazing.
That the police ignored complaints claiming that none had been made and the
worst that these little crims broadcast their crimes over social media.
But we now have apologies from cops with great assurances.

In the modern-era, Scandinavian countries have become known for their sometimes awkward embrace of migrants from the Arab and Muslim world. But the history behind that relationship goes back far further than you might expect.

Consider the case of a ring discovered in a Viking grave in Birka, a historic trading center in what is now Sweden. The woman in the grave died in the 9th century and was discovered around a thousand years later by the famous Swedish archaeologist Hjalmar Stolpe, who spent years excavating the grave sites around Birka.

The ring is unique. Made of silver alloy, it contained a stone with an inscription written in the Kufic Arabic script widely used between the 8th and 10th centuries. “For/to Allah,” the inscription read. It was the only known Viking Age ring with an Arabic inscription to be found in the entire of Scandinavia. Exactly how the woman got the ring wasn’t clear – she was found wearing typical Scandinavian dress, so presumably the ring arrived through trade.

Your definition of a specific word was inaccurate.

Stenographer. A shorthand writer. (The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary)

Your downtick, though, was not from me. Perhaps it came from Ian Lees-Galloway or one of his stenographers.

My initial reaction was along the lines you described (aka that a ‘stenographer’ is now know as a ‘shorthand typist’) BUT a check of the dictionary (1) gave the definition I provided. Evidently the term has changed with time, It seems to be now relegated to the 1930’s-1960’s period and is apaprently linguistically obsolete. It is, of course, no longer used in daily conversation.

– Why are non-White nations not screaming out for their fair share of racial balkanisation and diversity ?

– Why is it that only the notion that Britishness, Danishness, Icelandicness , Frenchness, Irishness and Europeaness has no biological basis for its existence , and is nothing more than a meaningless ” racist” “evil” sociological fraud and optical illusion, but this rule never applies to any non-White indigenous peoples? Isn’t this a form of selective double standard, discrimination and racism against White people?

– Why are only White people expected to benefit by diversity and becoming disempowered minorities in their own homelands?

@ Komata. I Galloway-Lees is a Labour MP for Palmerston North. The Stenographer referred to by WOBH is a short hand typist for Hansard. Do a search on MP’s name on WOBH to see the connection, as I won’t repeat the rumour….

I take it that you are aware of the links between Lees-Galloway and “the stenographer”? No?

The stenographer reference is to the Hansard ladies. Lees Galloway was said to have screwed one and made promises he did not keep, electing to stay with his wife. It has been on WO for months.

BTW…..
Stenographer is a term used mostly in USA/Canada where they operate “shorthand” machines.
In NZ it has almost always been “short-hand/typist”. There was a time when Hansard was taken only in shorthand and then transcribed. Then Hansard reporters brought in a tape to back up their shorthand. Now they present with a pad and pens, but watch it all appear on a computer screen in print. The tape and notebooks are simply a net.

Komata: The word ‘stenographer’ is defined by Oxford Dictionaries Online as:

“The action or process of writing in shorthand and transcribing the shorthand on a typewriter.”

That’s the meaning most of us would expect to find. Your problem may be simply that (as indicated at 8:59) you used a crap, 50-year-old dictionary. Never heard of it myself, and its definition you quoted at 8:22 even contains a spelling error: ‘One who practices…… ‘ should read “One who practises….. “

I would tend to down tick anyone suggesting strong action against the roast-busters, other than the non-PC caning in moderation, but rather holding the parents of the girls involved and the boys parents responsible for irresponsible lack of child care. Tough I know because children are very devious on occasions but the buck stops with the parents.

I hope Rupert Murdoch has more success with investment in APN than Gina Rheinhart had with Fairfax. That is, I hope he is in the position to have some success in turning around the NZ Herald back to something like the paper it used to be.

I’m only suggesting it needs more solid journalism and to be become more balanced in the positions it takes. Replacing the editor would be a good start.

But it is not Putin, he is trying to stop it or at least delay the catastrophe.

The USA has the biggest military machine the world has ever seen and is at war all over the globe, in case you hadn’t noticed

It is also bankrupt, it owes Russia alone 100s of Billions of Dollars and who knows how much to China.

And for any US politician to even question the amount of resources going into the military is political suicide even though it is obvious they cannot sustain the borrowing they are doing to maintain it and all their wars.

And this is only one of the factors that is bringing us to the brink but a major one

You have to be completely nuts to think Russia wants to invade Poland, what has Poland got that Russia needs?

Almost a full-page rant in the print version of the Christchurch Press today, by a British-born Muslim woman of Iranian descent now apparently resident in Christchurch.

She lambasts Western media coverage of Muslims, pulling all sorts of irrelevances such as why do we know about Hedbo but not about the Algerian war of independence, and suggests the rate of murders in Islamic societies is lower than in the West.

And not a whisper about the subservience of women in the Muslim world.

That’s where this woman is needed.

We ain’t gonna change, so perhaps this lady should think where she wants to be.

The publication of this diatribe by the Christchurch Press raises questions about the policies of this newspaper, too. It seems peculiarly friendly towards Islam, and overly tolerant of approaches by local Muslims to print their propaganda.

It reminded me, as you, that our Govt never even looked into the effects of gay marriage on children or on adoption when they changed the law. They just approved gay marriage and changed the adoption rules at the same time without giving a second thought to children.

She goes on to say –

It’s not because you’re gay. I love you, so much. It’s because of the nature of the same-sex relationship itself.

Growing up, and even into my 20s, I supported and advocated for gay marriage. It’s only with some time and distance from my childhood that I’m able to reflect on my experiences and recognize the long-term consequences that same-sex parenting had on me. And it’s only now, as I watch my children loving and being loved by their father each day, that I can see the beauty and wisdom in traditional marriage and parenting.

Same-sex marriage and parenting withholds either a mother or father from a child while telling him or her that it doesn’t matter. That it’s all the same. But it’s not. A lot of us, a lot of your kids, are hurting. My father’s absence created a huge hole in me, and I ached every day for a dad. I loved my mom’s partner, but another mom could never have replaced the father I lost.

I grew up surrounded by women who said they didn’t need or want a man. Yet, as a little girl, I so desperately wanted a daddy. It is a strange and confusing thing to walk around with this deep-down unquenchable ache for a father, for a man, in a community that says that men are unnecessary. There were times I felt so angry with my dad for not being there for me, and then times I felt angry with myself for even wanting a father to begin with. There are parts of me that still grieve over that loss today.

I’m not saying that you can’t be good parents. You can. I had one of the best. I’m also not saying that being raised by straight parents means everything will turn out okay. We know there are so many different ways that the family unit can break down and cause kids to suffer: divorce, abandonment, infidelity, abuse, death, etc. But by and large, the best and most successful family structure is one in which kids are being raised by both their mother and father.

She also goes on to ask, why is it OK for children who are victims of divorce or who are adopted to voice their pain around the separation from their parents or the feeling of lack, but not children of same-sex parents? It’s almost a union that dare not be questioned or criticized in any way.

Gay marriage doesn’t just redefine marriage, but also parenting. It promotes and normalizes a family structure that necessarily denies us something precious and foundational. It denies us something we need and long for, while at the same time tells us that we don’t need what we naturally crave. That we will be okay. But we’re not. We’re hurting.

Kids of divorced parents are allowed to say, “Hey, mom and dad, I love you, but the divorce crushed me and has been so hard. It shattered my trust and made me feel like it was my fault. It is so hard living in two different houses.” Kids of adoption are allowed to say, “Hey, adoptive parents, I love you. But this is really hard for me. I suffer because my relationship with my first parents was broken. I’m confused and I miss them even though I’ve never met them.”

But children of same-sex parents haven’t been given the same voice. It’s not just me. There are so many of us. Many of us are too scared to speak up and tell you about our hurt and pain, because for whatever reason it feels like you’re not listening. That you don’t want to hear. If we say we are hurting because we were raised by same-sex parents, we are either ignored or labeled a hater.

Cha, I don’t see that discovery (of the ring) as anything remarkable other than that is very well preserved. The various Scandinavian Viking expeditions raided (and traded) throughout Europe. They certainly conducted significant raids on Spain, both the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts; the trade and raid pathways through what is now Russia and the Ukraine via Kiev were also very well used, Kiev was held by Vikings in the 8th century.

At that sort of time Christianity was spreading through Scandinavia although not dominant until later, the first Danish King to convert was, I believe, Harald Gormsson aka Harald Blatand (Bluetooth, whom the close range radio link mechanism is named after) who was king after 958. His son and successor Sven however was not a professed Christian. Just FYI, Sven was the father of Cnut (Canute) and was also the first acknowledged Danish King of England.

So contact of various sorts between Scandinavia and the Muslim world is in no way a surprise unless one is startlingly ignorant of history. That story did seem to me to be a fluff piece with a political background.

The kids are denied what is known as a childhood.

These kids don’t grow up seeing things as they naturally occure; the natural responsibilites of a man or women’s life. Instead they grow up seeing the most important parts of life as a set of choices.

It’s not natural to have 3 or more adults become parents – and where one or more of the biological parents are often strangers. That’s a community project – not a family.

The article about the problems facing ‘same sex’ children is very, very sad, and is part of an emerging ‘problem’ which the ‘gay’ community assured us would never happen.

Personal experience with a family I am associated with, indicates that lesbians (at least – presumably males follow similar patterns), ‘acquire’ children to reassure themselves that they are ‘normal’ – and are just like all the ‘hetro’s around them. They don’t want to be reminded that in fact, by their own deliberate choices, they are anything but ‘normal’ They want to be able to both have their deviant lifestyle AND play at mummy’s and daddy’s ‘just like everyone else’. It makes them feel really good apparently, and assures them that they aren’t ‘different’. It is also noticeable that the unfortunate children in such situations are more like ‘mascots’ to ‘normalcy’ (somewhat like ‘look at my dolly, I LOVE my dolly’), and are not exactly ‘children’ in the sense that we would expect. They are really more analogous to ‘toys’ than actual living human beings. Noticeably, very few lesbian ‘parents’ ever look happy; they seem to be too busy presenting a ‘face of normalcy’ to whomever is looking on, and ensuring that their ‘dollys’ are seen to be ‘normal. It’s ‘Helicopter parenting’ taken to an unbelievable extreme. It’s very, very hard on the children of course..

As the children of these relationships become older, they are at last gaining the courage to speak out. They will face incredible opposition from ‘inside’ of course as they are daring to ‘buck the system’ and tell the realities of life in the supposedly-perfect ‘rainbow’ community.

Hopefully, the ‘non-gay’ world will be there to pick up the pieces; the psychological damage that emerges will be horrific.

Andrei, trust a Russian sympathizer to be ignorant of Polish history. Poland first came independent around 1025 when the Kingdom of Poland was established. It had varying fortunes and was gradually dismembered by Austria, Prussia, and Russia, a process completed by around 1795. It was reconstituted in 1918 and survived a serious attempt by the Russians to conquer it by crushing the red army in the battle of Warsaw under Pilsudski. It was of course partitioned again by Germany in alliance with the Soviet Union in 1939, then occupied as a puppet state until 1989 or so.

I wouldn’t think any Russian sympathizer would want to stick their neck out on Poland, the Poles have very bitter memories of Russian subjugation and repression over the centuries.

US troops in Poland, hm, they have at least 1000 men and a few tanks and other vehicles as part of training exercises. If they can keep the Poles subjugated with those few men then they’re obviously a hell of a lot better at it than the Soviets who, one should recall, keep hundreds of thousands of men stationed in Poland of decades.
