We have lost the plot if we accept this rampant BS really! Control, control, control. Not using a perfectly descriptive word because it MAY be construed as offensive by the perpetually outraged sods (fat, obese, skinny,nigger for example are all words likely to whip these dorks into a frenzy) is tantamount to book burning….not that far removed in an intellectual sense, from f…ing ISIS and their dogma ! The days of dropping pithy curses at work could be numbered with a workplace safety expert saying a change in government guidelines will make employers clean up the cussing.

Workplace bullying expert Allan Halse said it will be potentially easier for bosses to be pinged by workers who are offended by swearing.

And there are already cases involving earthy professions such as firefighting which could end up closing the door on swearing.

The move to wash workers’ mouths out with soap come in a week in which a Waikato mayor conceded he used the term w****r and a Hamilton builder was ordered to pay up in an employment case after he used the f-word in a text to a worker he called a ‘baby’.

But while some are calling a clean-up political correctness gone mad Halse said the days of cursing like a sailor are ‘last-century’ and people shouldn’t expect to be able to use offensive language around others.

Halse said a change in workplace bullying guidelines in 2014 removed the need for employees to prove intent when it came to bullying behaviour. This means that workplaces with bad language were more vulnerable to a workplace bullying complaint from an employee even if the language wasn’t directed at an individual.

“If someone’s on the receiving end of those [words] and it is repeated and has a detrimental impact, that’s how you get to the bullying threshold, even suggestive glances or dirty looks,” he said.

“The person who’s the recipient of it, is the person who decides it’s ok. You can offend people without intending to.”

“The [male-dominated jobs] are where you have isolated groups of people that are living in the last century, they’ve never reached civilisation. They’re still behaving in a way that is foreign to sophisticated society, it’s just not acceptable [to swear in the workplace] anymore,” he said.

Halse said he had been involved with work like firefighting and ambulance crewing which developed cultures that often included salty language.

“A lot of the staunch blokes think it’s ok for people to be rough and swear and do all that stuff, and it’s not.”

Halse said he was no puritan and grew up in the country where his choice of vocabulary would offend the unoffendable.

“I could be as bad as anybody else, I was brought up with four brothers and no sisters and we were rough as old boots, we were country bumpkins, so it’s not until you actually get in amongst society, that you realise there are behaviours that you have to comply with.

“Just because we’re big and strong, doesn’t mean that we want to be called a w****r or a whole bunch of names.”

Waikato District Fire Commander Roy Breeze said like any other organisation, they have their challenges.

“Yes you get a unique culture [within the New Zealand Fire Service] because people are literally living together, particularly in a stressful environment like emergency services, but that doesn’t give anyone reason to offend,” he said.

“We do not tolerate any bullying or words that can create offence within the group or external to the group.”

Waikato Registered Master Builders Association president Steve Ross, said policy set by the “PC brigade” is already having a detrimental effect to the building industry.

“As far as PC discussions go, we are going a bit over the top, where these young guys seem to be wrapped up in cotton wool, they want to be paid $50 an hour when they’ve just left school and have no skills whatsoever, but they think that the world owes them something and they have every right under the sun,” he said.

Ross said swearing is commonplace among trades, but generally workers are encouraged not to swear around customers.

“The whole industry is trying to tidy up their behaviour and the way they talk, especially if every second word’s a swear word. It’s not appropriate anymore,” he said.

Employment law specialist Andrea Twaddle, said the workplace environment and its culture and customs were considered when looking into any allegations of inappropriate language.

She said the tipping point will often be whether the comment is directed at a person or whether it’s conversational.

Waikato University linguist lecturer Dr Andreea Calude, said language changes all the time and it was about context.

She said when one person swears, the meaning that they associate with the word may not be the meaning another associates.

“There’s nothing about the sounds of swear words together that causes us some sort of unpleasant feeling, or the spelling, it’s all convention,” she said.

Yesterday, the Finance Minister, speaking at a social housing conference in Wellington, said the Government would come under huge political pressure to provide assistance to middle-income families if interest rates rose.

“As households get a bit stretched in meeting the rising cost of housing, it inevitably creates pressure for Government to lift the cash transfer programmes,” Mr English said.

He said that in the mid-2000s, interest rates of 8 to 9 per cent meant the Government had to compensate by making big increases in Working for Families subsidies and by introducing interest-free student loans.

The Government would rather “get the market right” than have to provide more assistance to families.

I cannot believe that in 2015 any employer would be silly enough to turn a job applicant away because she was wearing an Islamic head scarf.
In my day the employer would have politely listened to her, as they made a mental note to carefully draft that person’s “no job available” letter, which would have been placed on the dictaphone within seconds of that applicant becoming out of earshot.
Any employer dumb enough to engage in an argument with such a job applicant; well, how dumb are they?

First, fact to check is whether Stewart Dawson actually has such a policy. (James Pascoe group chief financial officer Kevin Turner commented, “This is by no means how we run our business. The interview should never have been done that way,” he said.” (This does not confirm whether or not there is a policy, and I imagine that the Group would want to keep it a secret if they did have one.)

I imagine the manager will be in hot water for embarrassing the company like that.

Souvlaki: You will notice that the New Zealand Geographic Board is stacked with either Maori or quasi Maori members. Amongst the Pakeha members are a surveyor, a Quality Assurance Manager, a primary school teacher, a Professor of geography, a Local bodies officer, and a Hydrographic surveyor. The Maori contingent comprise a Treaty negotiator, a member of the Maori Law Society, a UNESCO consultant, and a Professor of Maori; all having Treaty interests. I would imagine all Geographic Board meetings would be driven by Maoria Law; ‘do as I say’ in other words.

I’m with you Viking ( and Soulvaki ). This country is going down the shitter PC wise. Too many people out there who get off on telling others how to live their lives. Well fuck that. If I want to paint my roof without a harness , I shall, and fuck anyone who tries to tell me otherwise.
If I wish to drive down the road wearing no seat belt in my car , I will. I haven’t worn a seat belt for over 30 years and I am not going to start now because some clipboard carrying jumped up government arsehole who has no friends and cant get a real job, tells me to. Same with swearing at work..good luck with enforcing that one dickheads. For far to long we have slowly been stripped of our liberties here in NZ. Its about time we all stood up and said ENOUGH.

They have ignored just about anyone else with constructive suggestions.

They are arrogant to the point that they mirror Muldoon. NZ the way I want it.

Sure Longknives agree..but my point is it should be choice. If I want to headbutt the windscreen , my choice. Yes , before anybody starts raving..I’ve paid taxes for over 40 years, never been on the dole , never been in a hospital , so I think I am entitled to a bit of hospital care should I headbutt said windscreen..through MY choice.

You are allowed t paint your own roof without a harness, no one will stop you. Its just when you are doing it for money , someone will have a bit to say about it.

I have been in a crash where I T boned a car when I was doing around 110 km/hr. My camry got shortened by about a meter, the car I hit flew about 50 meter over a ditch into a paddock, air bags and the fancy seat belts with the explosive cartridges in it, amazing stuff. Not a scratch 🙂 So I wear a seat belt compulsively now.

It was my wedding anniversary, a couple of hours later when I was siting in restaurant and the shock kicked in my hands were shaking too much to hold a wine glass! 🙂

In Lebach, some 10 kilometers from here, a camp for 200 was set up and a further 100 added this last week. Much civil unrest is apparent and is just boiling under the surface. Europe is in chaos and the do gooders have totally lost control of the situation. Islam has overwhelmed us. For the Syrian and Afghan refugees, I have every sympathy and they need help. They should get it. But for the rest, in my view, the state authorities must be firm and send them back. Perhaps it is too late. Anyway, I thought that you should know that the situation here is pretty grim and I fail to see how it can be resolved. I can only foresee a police state’.

The people who own the businesses are not your typical workers. They have invested a lot of money in their enterprises and will seek to protect them. They will be members of local business groups, who in turn will be part of national associations. These associations will have close connections with political parties and government departments, as the later depend on tax revenue from the businesses to fund their policies.

Authorities will be under silent but forceful pressure to take steps to bring this situation to heel.

Those Syrian “refugees” that were forced to go through Slovenia after Hungary closed off its borders have torched their own tents and taken selfies because of being forced to wait ONE DAY for transit papers.

ANGRY migrants looking to reach Britain have SET FIRE to their own tents in protest at being made to wait just ONE DAY for transit papers, it emerged today.

Shocking drone footage also emerged showing the full extent of the damage at the camp – which houses thousands of men, women and children – with a huge area reduced to a blackened pile of ash.

Witnesses said that a group of young men became riotous after learning that it would take at least 24 hours to register them and move them on to the nearby border with Austria.

It was reported that they were also angry about a lack of food, water and blankets at the camp.

But there were reports that the fires decimated supplies at the camp to the extent that their fellow migrants had to burn clothes donated by charities in an effort to keep warm.

Ari Omar, a migrant from Iraq, bemoaned his treatment at the hands of Europeans, saying: “I am sorry for Europe. We did not think Europe is like this: no respect for refugees, not treating us with dignity. Why is Europe like this?”

OK, but what “organised religion(s)” is the primary target to make that generic point? Judaism and the quasi-religious herd mentality of radical left-wing politics are the two main ones, not Christianity.

I know there is the crucifixion scene at the end, but then we’ve been immunised via centuries of art that portrays Jesus of Nazareth as Sven of Stockholm blissfully hanging on a gibbet – at which I think the Pythons, with typical absurdism, take a long-overdue shot.

Renaissance art isn’t New Testament theology, nor the world of 1st Century Judea suffering under Pax Romana. Jesus was not the one and only person ever crucified, and for both Jews and Gentiles it was an utterly shameful way to die. When the Jewish Uprising was put down in 70AD, the Romans stopped crucifying rebels because there weren’t any more trees on which to nail them.

I’m saying that as a Protestant, who hopefully seeks to affirm and live the Reformation principles of Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”) and Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda est (“The church that is reformed is continually reforming”), I observe that sometimes the greatest enemy of obedience to the Scriptures and reforming in accordance with its requirements has been the organised religion of the church…both Catholic and Protestant.

If the Pythons wanted to have a shot at that – all power to ’em…especially as, IMHO, they were doing God’s work.

Last night I came across something that for me, solved a missing piece of the 911 puzzle, that of the micro-nukes that UT has often discussed here. I’d never understood how they were used therefore up till last night I’d always plumped for the thermite explanation as the most likely cause of the twin tower collapses. My problem was that I’d always had in my mind the traditional view of nukes which is they are huge, they always involve a mushroom cloud, etc etc. But apparently, this was wrong.

The report below is taken from an intelligence dump by Russian sources. As the origin is from an intelligence agency in the form of a “leak,” there are always questions. Thus far, we have found not only is the majority of the material confirmed but several solutions to serious problems involving 9/11 are included…

…According to a retired FXX agent specializing in Israeli counter intel: The type of nuclear devices used on 911 were a modified version of the W-54 nuclear artillery shells that were covertly provided to the Israelis between 1988 and 1998 from US surplus stockpiles illegally exported during the Bush/Clinton era.

Chemical analysis done by DOE Sandi was able to identify the chemical/radiation footprint or fingerprint of the warheads based on samples taken after 911 of the fallout at ground zero. (Editor’s note: Nuclear weapon use at ground zero is confirmed from multiple sources)

All plutonium based warheads have a chemical fingerprint that can identify the type of design and where the PU was made and how old it is. This was the 911 blackmail on Bush 1 and 2, the illegal transfer of surplus US nuclear weapons to the Israelis and why the continued cover up, along with the stolen gold and stock fraud that was going on Wall Street etc. According to file ENW57.pdf on page 66. Only a 2 kiloton device was needed to drop the buildings. A 2 kiloton device will produce a fireball of apx 150 to 200 feet in diameter at over 4000 degrees Centigrade. Overpressure would only be at 60PSI max and directed upwards with the blast. See underground effect.

A MATHEMATICAL discovery by Perth-based electrical engineer Dr David Evans may change everything about the climate debate, on the eve of the UN climate change conference in Paris next month.

A former climate modeller for the Government’s Australian Greenhouse Office, with six degrees in applied mathematics, Dr Evans has unpacked the architecture of the basic climate model which underpins all climate science.

He has found that, while the underlying physics of the model is correct, it had been applied incorrectly.

He has fixed two errors and the new corrected model finds the climate’s sensitivity to carbon dioxide (CO2) is much lower than was thought.

It turns out the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has over-estimated future global warming by as much as 10 times, he says.

“Yes, CO2 has an effect, but it’s about a fifth or tenth of what the IPCC says it is. CO2 is not driving the climate; it caused less than 20 per cent of the global warming in the last few decades”.

Dr Evans says his discovery “ought to change the world”.

“But the political obstacles are massive,” he said.

His discovery explains why none of the climate models used by the IPCC reflect the evidence of recorded temperatures. The models have failed to predict the pause in global warming which has been going on for 18 years and counting.

“The model architecture was wrong,” he says. “Carbon dioxide causes only minor warming. The climate is largely driven by factors outside our control.”

There is another problem with the original climate model, which has been around since 1896.

While climate scientists have been predicting since the 1990s that changes in temperature would follow changes in carbon dioxide, the records over the past half million years show that not to be the case.

So, the new improved climate model shows CO2 is not the culprit in recent global warming. But what is?

Dr Evans has a theory: solar activity. What he calls “albedo modulation”, the waxing and waning of reflected radiation from the Sun, is the likely cause of global warming.

He predicts global temperatures, which have plateaued, will begin to cool significantly, beginning between 2017 and 2021. The cooling will be about 0.3C in the 2020s. Some scientists have even forecast a mini ice age in the 2030s.

If Dr Evans is correct, then he has proven the theory on carbon dioxide wrong and blown a hole in climate alarmism. He will have explained why the doomsday predictions of climate scientists aren’t reflected in the actual temperatures…

At the same time, the authors deliberately presented a meaningless survey question so they could twist the responses to fit their own preconceived global warming alarmism.

Global warming alarmist John Cook, founder of the misleadingly named blog site Skeptical Science, published a paper with several other global warming alarmists claiming they reviewed nearly 12,000 abstracts of studies published in the peer-reviewed climate literature. Cook reported that he and his colleagues found that 97 percent of the papers that expressed a position on human-caused global warming “endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming.”

As is the case with other ‘surveys’ alleging an overwhelming scientific consensus on global warming, the question surveyed had absolutely nothing to do with the issues of contention between global warming alarmists and global warming skeptics. The question Cook and his alarmist colleagues surveyed was simply whether humans have caused some global warming. The question is meaningless regarding the global warming debate because most skeptics as well as most alarmists believe humans have caused some global warming. The issue of contention dividing alarmists and skeptics is whether humans are causing global warming of such negative severity as to constitute a crisis demanding concerted action.

Either through idiocy, ignorance, or both, global warming alarmists and the liberal media have been reporting that the Cook study shows a 97 percent consensus that humans are causing a global warming crisis. However, that was clearly not the question surveyed.

Investigative journalists at Popular Technology looked into precisely which papers were classified within Cook’s asserted 97 percent. The investigative journalists found Cook and his colleagues strikingly classified papers by such prominent, vigorous skeptics as Willie Soon, Craig Idso, Nicola Scafetta, Nir Shaviv, Nils-Axel Morner and Alan Carlin as supporting the 97-percent consensus.

Let me clarify.

Dr Evans math is correct as far as I can tell. But there are some issues with his theory.

Basically he states that the additional heat trapped by CO2 will leave into outer space via other mechanisms. This would need to be tested of course (I can’t locate any tests that he has performed or suggested along these lines). Even if this was correct there are two important provisos. Firstly, he is dealing with an equilibrium over time. If the warming lasts too long before total or partial recovery (as he proposes) then irreversible changes might have occurred (e.g., polar ice melting & sea level rises of several metres, or permafrost melting). Secondly, he has yet to explain the mechanism by which he expects the excess heat to transfer from 1 of his four ‘exit pipes’ into the three remaining ‘exit pipes’.

So, in conclusion, he has an untested theory, based on solid mathematics, which should be treated with caution until such time as it can be tested. Assuming that it is ‘the answer’ is not proper science (this was why I said he is ‘wrong’), however proposing a new method is a valid starting point. Once he has the peer review finished (he indicates that it is underway) then it can be properly scrutinised and discussed. If his theory is correct then the worst of the likely scenarios currently predicted might be able to be avoided (might, if we make the necessary changes). I doubt that it will be a solution that would allow us to continue on our current path particularly since the effects he talks about have yet to show up.

This is the whole point….. After 30+ years of climate models, we are all awaiting experimental repeatable evidence for the extent of CO2’s contribution to global warming. Billions of dollars have been spent with computer predictions and data homogenising, but those key little experiments that will determine exactly where the “trapped heat” is going are not on the drawing board.

And, of course, a committed Christian like Capill will still imagine he can claim his place in heaven. All he needs to do is ‘truly’ repent and all will be forgiven. Any of his victims who don’t do likewise will be consigned to eternal torment.
