Labour got smacked around a bit for their “research” of property buyers with Chinese sounding names, but instead of any further fully-paid authentic research to establish any real trends in the housing markets, they are rehashing there assumed position on it again, this time in the face of the TPPA.

Labour’s finance spokesman, Grant Robertson, said his party wanted to reserve the right to legislate in the best interests of New Zealanders.
“We believe … offshore buyers are pushing New Zealanders out of the housing market … and we believe this an area where we need to act.”

Labour confronts the TPPA and whimpers about stopping foreigners buying up New Zealand homes … still
Seems to be a dog stuck with just one current bone.

Does Labour know how many Aucklanders now find the value of their home has risen so much that they can use its value to obtain bank loans to buy a holiday home in the likes of Taupo, or an investment property somewhere out of Auckland, without selling the initial property.

Labour has only one theory about housing
They confront the prospect of the TPPA with only one issue
They are a little fucked in their thinking.

Did Penny Bright mislead the District Court?

The District Court [on Wednesday] adjourned Auckland Council’s application for summary judgment against Penny Bright for unpaid rates, totalling $34,182.51, until 21 December.

The adjournment was on the basis that Ms Bright advised the court that she did not recall receiving a supporting affidavit from Council.

Auckland Council stated in court that it was inconceivable the affidavit had not been included in the bundle of documents served by the process server on Ms Bright in May, particularly when Ms Bright confirmed in court that she had received a number of the other documents in that bundle.

Council subsequently located an email from Ms Bright sent in May to a wide range of recipients confirming that she had in fact received the affidavit. Council this afternoon drew Ms Bright’s attention to the email and suggested that in the circumstances it would be appropriate for her to write to the Court advising that she was mistaken in her recollection.

The irony is strong in this one. Penny fires off so many “open letters” to so many unwilling recipients – one of them has come back to haunt her.

Now, if Penny were a lawyer, then she’d need to comply with rule 13.1 of the Rules of conduct and client care for lawyers:

A lawyer has an absolute duty of honesty to the court and must not mislead or deceive the court.

Of course, as Penny explained to the NZ Herald last year, she imposes a duty of pathological honesty (which is presumably a higher standard than mere honesty) on herself:

I hate lies and I detest liars. I don’t do gossip or personal comments. I don’t do political dirt. I don’t hate anyone, it’s just behaviours I dislike. Am I tough? Yeah. Vulnerable? Not particularly. I’m not a spiritual person, I’m a character person. Integrity is really important to me. An ex-Cabinet minister once described me as “pathologically honest” but what’s wrong with that? I’m consistent and persistent more than most and I don’t back down.

We haven’t heard from Penny since Wednesday. She must be busy writing an “open letter” to the District Court advising that she was mistaken in her recollection.

Giving New Zealanders a fair go at owning our land and fulfilling the Kiwi dream of owning a home are core principles for Labour. We reserve the right to regulate and legislate to make this happen.

And:

National Govt has traded away right of future govt to further tighten land/housing sales to overseas buyers. Labour believes supporting Kiwi dream of owning own home is core principle. We must have right to legislate to help this happen.

Then a Stuff report on Jacinda Ardern:

A Labour Government will make laws without regard to the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement and if necessary “face the consequences”.

That was the view of Jacinda Ardern, Labour MP and spokesperson for small business, speaking at a Chamber of Commerce event in Rotorua on Tuesday.

“When we’re in Government we’ll continue to legislate as we would and we’ll face the consequences,” she said.

So Labour would legislate regardless of the country’s international commitments?

It will be interesting to see what Andrew Little thinks of this when he returns next week.

Either agreeing or disagreeing will put him and Labour in a tricky position.

Labour – fundamental flaw in thinking on TPP agreement

In the short term this is certain to be thrown at them in Parliament. In the longer term it questions their credibility as a government-in-waiting party, something they have struggled with for the last years.

UnitedTribes, are you aware that you can do this? You copy-paste the comment you are responding to and then put the word blockquote between angular brackets at the beginning, and the word blockquote between angular brackets and a forward slash at the end.

You can use the same trick for emphasis, putting b between angular brackets at the beginning and b between andgular brackets and a forward slash at the end will make your words bold.

What a brilliant takedown of the despicable MSM who have gone into overdrive about a hijab wearing “British ” women winning a TV programme called the Great British Bakeoff :

The author brilliantly illustrates how the show was rigged to have a Muslim winner and how the MSM tries to propagandasise how the winner is a “typical Muslim” who “embraces” Britishness like all Muslims in Britain do. I guess she was more a needle in the haystack much like the gay parents chosen to meet Prince George as they were “typical parents” in modern New Zealand.

Anyhow, the author delivers this great smackdown and their “diversity is our strength Orwellian newsspeak:

That’ll be why ethnics self-segregate, block vote,instigated a radical Islamist takeover of several schools in one city, agitate that White people are racist, agitate for “more diversity” aka fewer White people and gang-rape young White girls. Diversity is strength!

All of this is a massive smokescreen anyway to the fact that, as well as not being native to the British Isles and having no right to be here (as no one ever voted for massive immigration), the majority of “British” Muslims only watch the Muslim cable channels and reject all aspects of British life. They would not appear on a kuffar television programme and the idea of a Muslim woman going on a kuffar show and mixing with kuffar males would appal them.

Given that again and again polls show the majority of Muslims want to live under Sharia Law, that huge percentages hate the West and believe terrorism is justified etc (the percentages are even higher for young and second and third generation Muslims), it looks pretty obvious that most “British” Muslims are nothing like Nadiya. It is a fact that when Muslims move into an area one of the first noticeable signs is that gardens and the frontage of homes to to seed. Often front gardens will immediately be concreted over for more parking space for family members but even if a Muslim did take to gardening, hobbies in Islam are haram, because they are seen as Satanic distractions from thinking about Allah.

Local imams police Muslim communities so if someone is seen to be engaging in hobbies like gardening or baking cakes their family will be notified and shamed, and there will be extreme pressure on that person to the point of threats to disown them unless they stop. Nadiya apparently grew up in London but now lives in Leeds. Living away from her “community” is why she is able to do things most “British” Muslims would not be permitted to do as most remain within the same insular and self-policing “community” their whole lives. This is a huge reason why painting her as representative of Muslims in Britain is completely bogus.

The sooner people stop watching the TV and reading the paper that promote the agenda, the sooner we can put a stop to the infantilisation and social engineering that is rotting the West.

You are aware America never had an income tax until 1913 when they bought in the (un)Federal Reserve.

As long as their is no parasite classes (above and below) then an income tax is not necessary for a strong, independent and moral nation. Only an MSM journalist could convince you otherwise!

Russia’s Giving ISIS An Air Force

In the last week, less than 10% of all Russian missiles (and now ship-borne cruise missiles) has struck ISIS or al-Qaeda-affiliated targets, according to the U.S. State Department. What is a consensus view among analysts is that ISIS clearly is not Putin’s quarry in Syria, at least not yet, because he’s too busy killing the anti-Assad rebels supported and armed by the Central Intelligence Agency. U.S. officials have acknowledged as much.

But that Moscow might actually be objectively helping ISIS defeat a common enemy by acting as air support for the jihadists’ ground assaults against U.S. proxies is less well understood, even though it fits with predictions warning that Putin’s adventure in the Levant was never going to be counterterrorist in nature.

Rather, this Russian adventure was designed to fortify a faltering client regime, possibly help it regain lost territory, and above all eliminate any credible threat to its legitimacy or long-term rule which, for the moment, ISIS does not pose.

Can’t decide whether the new combined Union’s name is correctly spelt – when I first saw it I though it was UTU which I assume was appropriate to it beliefs.
Then though it must be a new Maori Tribe jumping on the gravy train. Hope it is endorsed by the Waitangi Tribunal.
I believe that the extracted fees are something like $28 per fortnight deducted by employers from workers’ wages whether they want to be a member or not.
Chance of success – 6 years to extinction after the next election.

Firstly, read it again.

Cruz said a flat tax ———– and a tax form the size of a postcard.

Secondly, I listened to the speech he gave and then typed it – I did not type the entire speech, just main points. Also, what I left out was that Cruz adressed the present media part way through the speech – where he indicated to the media that the next bit was a joke – which was the bit about ‘90,000 tax agents leaving Washington for the Southern Border’ – and where he also included the words ‘abolish the IRS’.

And how again did St Maggie go in the South Pacific Griff – defending her country’s borders? 😎

Re Pete George’s post at 8:07am, We received a push poll from Labour last night, asking if we agreed that the Govt should assist ‘young NZ’ers into their first home’. They were quite shocked by my reply – asked if I understood the question !
My guess is Robertson/Ardern are preparing a suitably stacked poll to present to Andy on Monday.
Expect Andy to dutifully rail that TPPA blocks our youth from the Kiwi dream.

Tis very interesting isn’t it Reid. I originally read the article on Zero hedge yesterday but of course if I shared that article the usual mentals with their “attack the source” not the information would have made intellectual discussion impossible.

What is interesting though is who the Russians ate pointing the finger at for funding ISIS/Al Nusra. Still, I don’t think the scales would fall from the eyes of many on here…

Yeah. All those thinking of Russia’s altruism ought to think again.

There’s another paragraph in there as well that might explain things:

So, maybe after first wiping out all opposition to Assad, the Russians will then actually go after ISIS. Maybe.

Well, it’s so obvious EAD. They never attack Israeli targets and if they were who they say they are they would have done so long long ago. They only follow the UKUSA interests. And yet due to their cognitive dissonance most Westerners like the two here currently conversing can’t connect the extraordinarily obvious dots. Feel sorry for them really. They’re exactly who Jefferson was referring to.

I’m not sure what their technical name is, but by “angular brackets” I mean the leftwards and rightwards pointing arrowheads that appear on my keyboard on the same keys as, respectively, the comma and the full stop.

The Taliban was the result of Russian aggression in Afghanistan and America playing games against Russia there.

Putin is playing games with the west and supporting an authoritarian regime. This doesn’t mean he is going to succeed at leaving the middle east in a more stable position.

Of course, it’s all so obvious now. Clearly Putin is using Syria as a decoy to drop some missiles off (hence “land” in Iran). In 15mins since the signing, Iran has developed those nasty nukes from scratch. They just need to pop them into the missiles and send them on their way to Israel. Can’t see how we all missed it.

Manolo – perhaps it’s because Hillary is in big trouble. She is under criminal investigation by the FBI for the use of a private server to handle classified government business, that classified documents have been found by the FBI on that server and the existence of the private server can surely only to have been for purposes of evasion and deception. It could also be because polls show that high information voters who understand the issues don’t trust her and low information voters don’t like her.

It’s amazing to me that 74-year-old Socialist Bernie Sanders is attracting much bigger crowds and way more enthusiasm than Hillary. And 20% of the likely Democrat voters will vote for Joe Biden, even though he is not in the race.

The fact is that Hillary is not a good candidate, she is wooden on the campaign trail, she is cloaked in deception and intrigue and if she becomes the Democratic nominee for the presidential race she would be one of the worst candidates that the Democrat party has ever put up for election.

Although it has been shamefully underreported by major media outlets in NZ, war correspondent Jon Stephenson has won his defamation case against the New Zealand Defence Force by forcing a settlement that involves significant compensation and an admission by the military that its defamatory statements about Mr. Stephenson were indeed untrue.

It remains to be seen if the Prime Minister John Key will do the same, since he opined at the time the controversy erupted over Mr. Stephenson’s internationally recognised article “Eyes Wide Shut” in Metro Magazine (May 2011) that Mr. Stephenson was, to paraphrase closely, “unstable” as well as “unreliable.”

That has been proven to be false. Let us be clear: Mr. Stephenson may be driven, but unlike his main accusers when it comes to reporting on the NZDF he is by no means unreliable or a liar.

I wrote the following as a comment over at The Standard but feel that it is worth sharing here:

“I suspect that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the unethical behaviour of the NZDF and political leadership in this affair. Remember that there is a MoD involved and the respective ministers then and now (Coleman and Brownlee). There are more officers involved than retired generals Rhys Jones and Jerry Mateparae, some who currently hold senior positions within the NZDF. There is the behaviour of Crown Law to consider. There is the slander on Jon’s character uttered by the PM.

I can only hope that the terms of the settlement do not prevent Jon from publishing more details of his case, including the way in which the legal process unfolded, the obstacles to discovery encountered, and the extra-curriculars

Whatever happens, for once in a long time one of the genuine good guys won. Were it that other members of the press corps (Nicky Hager excepted) had the integrity and courage exhibited by Jon both in the field as well as on the home front.

Beyond what I have written above, there are some other questions that arise from this saga.

For example, in 2013 Nicky Hager revealed that the NZDF electronically spied on Mr. Stephenson in 2012 using NSA, GCSB and SIS assets while he was in Afghanistan.

At the same time an internal Defence manual was leaked to the media that identified “certain investigative journalists” as hostile subversion threats requiring counteraction because they might obtain politically sensitive information (one does not have to have much imagination in order to figure out who they are referring to). In parallel, reports emerged that NZDF officials were sharing their views of Mr. Stephenson with Afghan counterparts, referring to him in the same derogatory terms and implying that his work was traitorous or treasonous.

Taken together, both the spying on Mr. Stephenson and the characterisation of him passed on to NZDF Afghan allies can be seen as a means of counteracting his reporting.

But if so, what national security threat did he really pose?

Is politically sensitive information necessarily a threat to national security or is merely a threat to the political actors being reported on?

Is intimidation part of what the NZDF considers to be proper counteraction when it comes to journalists plying their trade in a war zone?

And since any counteraction or counter-intelligence operations had to be cleared and authorised by the NZDF and political leadership, were both of the types used against Mr. Stephenson authorised by then NZDF Chief Lieutenant General Richard Rhys Jones and/or Mr. Key?

They deny doing so but if that is true, who did and how was it passed down the chain of command to the field commanders in Afghanistan (because, at a minimum, the order to “counter” Mr. Stephenson could be construed as illegal and therefore challengeable–but it never was)?

Leaving aside the legitimate role of independent journalism in a democracy in holding policy makers–including military leaders–to account, what does it say about the NZDF that it sees such work as subversive?

More alarmingly, if the reports are true, what exactly did the NZDF leadership hope to accomplish by telling Afghans, while Mr. Stephenson was in Afghanistan, that he was a threat to them?

Then there is the issue of the lie. General Rhys Jones claimed that, contrary to what was written in his story, Mr. Stephenson never visited the base in which the Crisis Response Unit (to which NZ SAS were attached) was located and did not talk to its commander. That was a direct challenge to Mr. Stephenson’s journalistic integrity. Mr. Stephenson sued for defamation and during the first trial (which bizarrely ended in a hung jury) the NZDF and Rhys Jones himself admitted that Mr. Stephenson’s version was true.

So why didn’t the trial stop right there?

The moment the truth of Mr. Stephenson’s story was admitted by Rhys Jones, it was supposed to be game, set and match to the journalist.

But instead the Crown spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars continuing to litigate in that trial and then the follow-up court process that was ended by the recently announced settlement. Why so?

The answer to the last questions seems to be that, like in the Zaoui and Urewera 18 case, the Crown prefers to bleed its adversaries emotionally and financially even when it knows that it can not win. This death by a thousand cuts approach, courtesy of the taxpayers largesse, is as unethical as it is cynical and undermines the belief that justice in New Zealand is blind and universal.

There are many other questions that need to be answered about the treatment of Mr. Stephenson.

Is it true that media outlets were pressured to not accept his work on penalty of getting the cold shoulder from the government?

Did NZDF officials physically threaten Mr. Stephenson in New Zealand?

Did the intelligence services spy on Mr. Stephenson above and beyond what was reported by Mr. Hager, both at home and abroad, and are they doing so now, and on what grounds if so?

Did NZDF and/or MoD and/or PMDC and/or Crown Law officials conspire, either solely or together, to cover up, obstruct, alter, destroy or otherwise impede the release of evidence to Mr. Stephenson’s lawyers at any point in the legal proceedings?

My sincere hope is that the settlement agreed to by Mr. Stephenson and NZDF does not preclude the former from writing about his experiences with the NZDF, both in Afghanistan and during the trials. Hopefully he will be able to answer some of the questions I have posed above.

I say this because something stinks about the way this affair has been handled at the highest levels of government, which is not only a stain on the individuals involved but a direct affront to basic tenets of

Published before the Wednesday hearing – from the Auckland Council media centre:

Auckland Council is today continuing action to recover outstanding rates and penalties owed by Penny Bright on her Kingsland property, which, as at 30 June 2015, totalled $34,182.51.

The council will today seek confirmation from the court of the amount owed by Ms Bright.

Following this, council intends to apply to the High Court for a rating sale to take place should Ms Bright decide not to enter into a payment arrangement with council. This process would involve a six month stand-down period giving Ms Bright time to consider other payment options available to her.

And further down:

26 March 2015: Auckland Council sends an amended rates invoice to Ms Bright, minus legal fees.
12 May 2015: Auckland Council files an amended statement of claim, which now includes an application for a summary of judgment for unpaid rates from Ms Bright, dating from June 2006 to 11 March 2015.
15 June 2015: Ms Bright files a notice of opposition to the council’s application for a summary judgment in the case.

So it looks like Penny is stalling for time but running out of options.

The remaining steps:

– On 21 December the District Court will confirm how much Penny owes.
– We wait six months.
– The High Court declares “home open”.

In the meantime, of course, the High Court will throw out Penny’s defamation case next month.

FWIW: I seem to recall that Ms Bright was quite adamant that she COULD pay her rates, but CHOSE NOT TO!!
If that is in fact the case, it is just possible that the sale will not actually occur, since all that is required is that Penny B pay her rates. Where she will obtain the necessary $34,000 is anyone’s guess; perhaps another ‘anonymous benefactor’ will come to her aid as happened with her ‘water care’ fines.

As stranger things have been known to occur, it’s best to be aware that Chickens DO need to hatch before they can be counted.

Komata, have you considered how much the value of a home has increased by within the Auckland rating area since Penny Bright stopped paying her rates?

Families could live off the CG if they borrowed against the house just part of the CG over the year. This is the way farmers survive years with no taxable income.

What if when Penny stops paying her rates home values start to fall? What if she is the talisman of rising property values?

One of the heroes who stopped that terrorist on the train in France has been stabbed 4 times. Apparently, he is OK.

Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone, who helped take down a gunman on a train in Belgium, was stabbed four times in the chest in Sacramento early Thursday morning, Air Force Times has learned.

Stone is listed in serious condition at the University of California Davis Medical Center.

“A1C Spencer Stone has been transported to a local hospital, and is currently being treated for injury,” Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Karns said in an email in Air Force Times. “The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement.”

Sacramento Deputy Police Chief Ken Bernard said Stone was with four other friends – one male and three females – when they got into a dispute with another group of people that culminating in Stone being stabbed.

“He is currently being treated for what appears to be non-life threatening but very significant injuries,” Bernard said during a news conference on Thursday. “The assault does not appear to be a random act. It’s believed to be related to a nightclub incident.”

The incident was not an act of terrorism or a hate crime, said Bernard, who repeatedly declined to answer questions about how the altercation started. Police are looking for two suspects, described as Asian men wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans who drove a gray or black Toyota Camry.

Komata, have you wondered whether all those Labour MP’s and ex PM’s making money off the CG of their rental properties have ever made a donation to charitable causes equivalent to the tax that would fall on the CG if there was a tax?

I raise this question because we have one of the lowest foreign aid budgets in the OECD – yet Labour did not increase it despite the large budget surpluses they ran. Yet Clark still got the UN Development job. Someone like Cameron who doubled the UK aid budget to .7% GDP (about 3 times our level) walked the walk.

BTW: Concerning Clark’s UN appointment: One story told to me (and which random checking on my part seems to confirm) is that she effectively ‘bought’ her way in by means of increased donations by NZ to the UN purse (aka our money, her ambition), and by accepting the Somali ‘refugees into NZ, a group that (Because of their appalling record) no other western nation would touch with the proverbial.

However she got there, be under absolutely no illusions, it was very, very deliberate and calculated; NZ was just a very convenient ‘vehicle’ for the purpose…

The issue at hand: should the US impose a “no-fly” zone in Syria, or parts of it, in order to stop the Russians from spoiling our little party?

On the one side, we have the President of the United States, who – foiled by popular opinion when he last tried to massively intervene in Syria’s civil war – has apparently learned his lesson. He opposes a no-fly zone, at least for the moment. The Russian attempt to “prop up” Assad” is “just going to get them stuck in a quagmire,” he said at a news conference, “and it won’t work, and they will be there for a while if they don’t take a different course.”

Personally I think the yanks are wrong, Putin won’t be getting stuck in a quagmire, because the combination of Iran, Russia and China won’t be letting the UKUSA play its usual games anytime soon and the CIA regime changers can’t operate in the sunlight of the alternative media which will be broadcasting loud and long if the Western powers even look like trying anything cute like supporting ISIS arms supplies from Turkey and where the fuck else are they going from. ISIS will scuttle away, melting back into the desert from which the sheeple hallucinate they came from and the UKUSA won’t be able to do a fucking thing about it.

We now know the lady with the bonnet has been since wednesday. She has been busy pounding the shit out her keyboard putting that last post together. Man she must have burned the midnight oil.Just as well it was not printed out on paper, as you would need three trees for each copy. She would never get any green votes for that effort. It’s a pity she took the time, because it was all wasted. All she got was down voted.

The Kremlin has effectively agreed to bring the might of the Russian air force to bear on Assad’s opponents in Syria and on Sunni militants in Iraq in support of Iranian ground troops and because the US and its allies have failed so miserably in terms of fielding anti-Assad rebels who don’t turn out to be extremists, Putin gets to pitch the whole thing as a “war on terror.” It would be difficult to design a more elegant power play.

Dimbulbs like stupidboy who don’t even understand who’s fighting whom let alone why, won’t of course even understand the first sentence of that calculation let alone be capable of working through it to discern the ramifications and assess the liklihood of its (a) truth and (b) chances of success. Can you.
