Have just had breakfast. freshly smoked salmon, cream cheese and fresh fruit. Yummy.
Have got the elderly in laws staying with us. after cutting up the fresh pineapple the skin and core went into the pigs bucket, which was sitting on the bench.
Turned around to do something and looked back and the old MIL was eating the pineapple scraps out of the pigs bucket.

So I can honestly say we have done our bit for the poor people today, feeding the needy who are living in poverty (not).
Every little bit helps.

Now that I can agree with! I’m not a Christian- Consider myself an Agnostic, but I really do enjoy Christmas! (Especially boozy debaucherous Christmas Parties and the excessive Gluttony that the Season brings..)
Hence I feel sorry for miserable snots like Devoy who want Christmas banned- They really must lead empty, unhappy existences..

Detesting all religion doesn’t stop me from appreciating the importance of Christmas as our central family festival. Christians get more worked up about Easter anyway, don’t they?

Oh, and so far as I am aware, no one wants to ‘ban’ Christmas.

The cows all milked, some night rain, sheep shorn or dipped, lambs crutched and drenched etc. cattle shifted to a fresh paddock, dogs get some “smokey fat” trimmings from the ham Pigs will get a few more left overs, hole in fenced patched.
A few bus runs, taxis, dairies, gas stations, to just keep the rest of us ticking over.

A great Christmas to all, and all the others that have to do a stint today to get by with essential services, and then relax, enjoy family, friends, neighbours, with the food and a toast to absent ones, and thankfulness to live in a little great country.

Take a few photos, as for some us may move on, or not make it to next Christmas. Thanks for the memories.

Perhaps no other event personifies the season of glad tidings and goodwill than the Auckland City Mission Christmas dinner for not only those In need or poverty but also the lonely and of course the homeless .

About 2000 chicken drumsticks and 300kg of ham is on the menu for the Auckland City Mission’s Christmas Day lunch.
” The mission is expecting to host about 2000 people at the volunteer-staffed lunch on Auckland’s Viaduct.
“We believe no one should have to eat alone on Christmas Day,” said outgoing City Missioner Dame Diane Robertson.
“It is not only about poverty, it is about the spirit of Christmas, and about celebrating with each other….”

I know this magical event is bound to rile the Scrooges and misers on KB and elsewhere , but surely this is an event that would warm Charles Dickens heart and even the immortal character he created ,Ebenezer Scrooge ,

I told the entire family years ago that I am not into the commercial crap that is Christmas. Who wants another piece of tat you dont need or want ?
If I really wanted something I would go out and buy it .
Better to give gifts when I think they are warranted or if I find something I think someone close will really appreciate.
Not necessarily because of anything to do with artificial constructs like birthdays or Christmas.

Ok, ok. I watched about as much of 25 Dec fluff at 6pm as I could take – taking notes. Around this time the shit is flying in a million directions. I loved one charity sending boxes of food to the islands. I wrote down the name of one fella recipient in I think Rarotonga – Eddie Nicholas (hope that’s right) very grateful for his box of random grocery items with things like chippies, peanut butter, soft drink.

Standing next to him was – I don’t know – his young daughter ? Random relative ? Island people are the biggest in the world anyway – this girl had the fattest face you could hope to see on someone her age. My whole face would fit in one of her gigantic fat puffy cheeks. Like a frickin beach ball with some eyes drawn on. I don’t know – they looked ok to me – from the screenshot style quick images you get that leave you wanting to see how these people really live, suspecting they’re not really true charity cases.

And what’s with sending peanut butter ? Half of it is just random BS – here – take some peanut butter. Now you can know the joy of having a breakfast spread on Dec 25 – because it’s just not merry with plain toast. Mind you – who knows what they do with it. Spread it on their dog meat. Who knows. Full sugar soft drink ? Don’t they have food or shops over there ? Are they all in third world poverty ? That’s nothing to do with being poor yet breeding like flies, is it ? Is peanut butter a luxury in Rarotonga ? Why don’t they just send them a supermarket ? Look – this is a trolley – you put your peanut butter in it. That’s a checkout. Like a MASH unit. MISH. Mobile Island Supermarket Help. Why are they all so fucking fat ? They can hardly stand up and waddle around – far out – here’s your care parcel you obese muppet. Enjoy those feet before they’re chopped off from preventable diabetes.

Also on 6pm feel good factor – let’s go and look at some ‘random’ (handpicked for maximum politically correct agenda pushing) families and how they enjoyed ‘the special day’ . . .

. . . and then we went to Otara to catch up with a Cook Island extended family. Um – it looked like all of the f%&king Cook Islands had turned up to this shindig – whoa. Less people have watched the Blues play at Eden Park.

I think there may have been a slight cultural misunderstanding on the part of One News. They reported that the kids were ‘playing party games’ by not using their hands to eat food in a frenetic manner spread out on long tables. I suggest they go back there on any given day and they will likely witness the same eating style. I could be wrong – but I myself have observed table manners that can only be described as ‘like a starving stray dog’. Half of them probably lived at the address – hmmmm.
