If you are watching the US Presidential election with increasing dismay, as most sane people are, it is refreshing to hear an adult speak

People sense an ever-growing gap between their interests and the elite’s vision of the only correct course, a course the elite itself chooses. The result is that referendums and elections increasingly often create surprises for the authorities. People do not at all vote as the official and respectable media outlets advised them to, nor as the mainstream parties advised them to. Public movements that only recently were too far left or too far right are taking centre stage and pushing the political heavyweights aside.

At first, these inconvenient results were hastily declared anomaly or chance. But when they became more frequent, people started saying that society does not understand those at the summit of power and has not yet matured sufficiently to be able to assess the authorities’ labour for the public good. Or they sink into hysteria and declare it the result of foreign, usually Russian, propaganda.

Friends and colleagues, I would like to have such a propaganda machine here in Russia, but regrettably, this is not the case. We have not even global mass media outlets of the likes of CNN, BBC and others. We simply do not have this kind of capability yet.

As for the claim that the fringe and populists have defeated the sensible, sober and responsible minority – we are not talking about populists or anything like that but about ordinary people, ordinary citizens who are losing trust in the ruling class. That is the problem.

By the way, with the political agenda already eviscerated as it is, and with elections ceasing to be an instrument for change but consisting instead of nothing but scandals and digging up dirt – who gave someone a pinch, who sleeps with whom, if you’ll excuse me. This just goes beyond all boundaries. And honestly, a look at various candidates’ platforms gives the impression that they were made from the same mould – the difference is slight, if there is any.

It seems as if the elites do not see the deepening stratification in society and the erosion of the middle class, while at the same time, they implant ideological ideas that, in my opinion, are destructive to cultural and national identity. And in certain cases, in some countries they subvert national interests and renounce sovereignty in exchange for the favour of the suzerain.

This begs the question: who is actually the fringe? The expanding class of the supranational oligarchy and bureaucracy, which is in fact often not elected and not controlled by society, or the majority of citizens, who want simple and plain things – stability, free development of their countries, prospects for their lives and the lives of their children, preserving their cultural identity, and, finally, basic security for themselves and their loved ones.

      What if, one day in the next few years, you find out that it was actually you who was the “victim” of propaganda? That it was actually you and others like you, who swallowed whole the carefully fabricated lies of an ex-KGB man, because of your love of Mother Russia.
      
      Not to mention those who run around talking about “stooooppid sheeple”, being revealed as exactly that.
      
      I have to admit though, that were a conspiracy theory being weaved, it would never involve killing someone with Polonium 210. That would be too wild for Hollywood. Except of course that that’s what happened. I actually have to “admire” the Mafia-like approach; killing someone in such a way as to retain plausible deniability – while also sending a direct message to others as to who it was.

        The west destroyed Libya turning it into a failed state,opening it up as a human trafficking route to Europe , Europe “rescues” the illegal migrants literally causing thousands of deaths by drowning.
        
        Syria has been destabalised by Sunni states such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar , and now with western connivance , millions displaced, tens of thousands dead and the west has the nerve to accuse the Russians of war crimes there.
        
        China acts with impunity , secret prisons, aggressive expansion into the South China Sea. Abductions and illegal detention , and yet we queue up to lick their arse.
        
        Obama , the Greatest orator and legal mind the world has ever known, extra judicial killings by drone war over Pakistan, Afghanistan, Africa , Yemen ………..silence.
        
        Trump , Trump Trump, thumps the MSM.
        Putin Putin Putin thumps the MSM.

  I read this post earlier and thought I’d wait to see how many down ticks it got before saying anything. I don’t know if Putin wrote this himself or it written done by a “speech writer”but if not I’m sure he would have gone over it very well before it was allowed to be published.
  If you had not put an attribution at the bottom I doubt anyone would have down ticked it. It has to be one of the more sane commentaries I’ve read in recent months.

    True, but of course it’s all grist to Putin’s mill of weakening the Western powers as much as possible – sowing further discord, weakening alliances, rubbishing democracy (the oldest Soviet ploy in the book), and so forth.
    
    The fact that so much of this critque could be applied to him and his cronies – the elite who run Russia – is an added touch of irony that I’m sure he chuckles about. Throw some red meat about gay pride parades to the likes of Andrei and they’ll swallow everything else as well.
    
    He’s played a weak hand extremly well over the last few years.
    
    As far as the US Presidential election is concerned I’m sure Vlad could not care less whether Trump or Clinton is elected. As long as both are hamstrung and paralysed by internal fighting with the FBI, Congress and private groups, not to mention the voters at large, as they take office that will be fine. It leaves him with much more room to move in the areas he cares about.

Bill Clinton addressed a crowd of 50 people at an election rally today in a high school gym. 50 people! Apparently Hillary’s crowds are averaging at 380 people.
On the other hand Trump’s crowds are at least 10 times that and maybe up to 100 times that. He gets record huge crowds, she gets small crowds.
So there is a huge gap in enthusiasm for the candidates.
Enthusiasm does matter.

  It sure doesn’t make sense for Andy to try win. As leader of the opposition he gets the same goody bag as a cabinet minister (about $250k + benefits) for absolutely no responsibility. He doesn’t even have electoral offices to clean when they get egged on the week ends.

Any party advocating the abolishing of WINZ food vouchers would have to be worth a look I reckon.
Just stood in a queue at Countdown while some smelly white trash chick with three rabid kids tried to get $120 worth of freebies with a $100 voucher.
No you can’t loser and putting one item back at a time worth about $1.50 still does not make it balance.
Instead of making everyone wait for about 10 minutes while you sort your shit out why don’t you pay the extra couple of $$$ yourself.
No of course not because then it’s not all free is it and I won’t have money for Lotto on Wednesday.
Absolutely makes my day to know I help to keep such filth alive.

      After my uncle deserted my aunt with 4 young children, she took up smoking to ease the drudgery of the factory jobs she had to take to support their children.

    There have been a number of studies made in the West that showed the overall costs of smokers was less than “healthy” people because they died sooner. I assume that was due to the pension costs of non-smokers exceeding the health-care costs of smokers in the acturial comparisons.

        They used to pay them 30 years ago when I was single, dime.
        I was able to save enough deposit for a modest home in just a few years of working in an unskilled job.
        Nowadays the pay will not keep body and soul together and definitely not pay for a home.
        Of course these days you could always move to a small city where it’s cheaper and try working for yourself.

    Just perhaps itstricky, smokers (at least those buying them legally) pay additional taxes on their purchases to more than fund their treatments if needed. And they typically claim less superannuation. Economically there’s zero argument against smoking as currently taxed; in fact if smoking stopped overnight there would be a need to find the missing tax take from somewhere else.

Have you noticed that all hakas are now “moving”? To some New Zealanders it’s become a cliche – overdone, an interesting cultural custom that’s losing its appeal through over-performance. “Hell, not another haka.”

On the Hooerald web site a roughly (Western) dressed Maori does a lone haka to declare Maori support for Dakota Indians and supporters who are opposed to an oil line from Canada.

The heading says: “Kiwi’s moving haka to inspire Dakota pipeline protesters”.

Obviously a war dance is moving physically, and seen for the first time a haka may be scary. But why does the MSM believe every haka is “moving” in an emotional way?

Nothing like this has ever been done peacefully before—the creation of a new ethnic majority in a lifetime (1965-2040).

There is simply too much being asked of us, that not only should we lie down and die out, but damn ourselves while doing it. We could have lived with minorities and we did—most societies in fact do. But you can’t steal a country out from under a majority, work to demographically marginalize them, and expect them to not develop an ideology around wanting that country back. The planting of Ulster is a good analogy. The Ascendancy of this country doesn’t like us and wants to settle some friendly aliens in our lands so as to secure their rule. The Alt-Right is a response to that.

Sir Geoffrey Palmer and a fellow lawyer, Andrew Butler, have proposed a single written constitution, arguing that almost every other nation has a single written constitution, and – more importantly for these purposes – that such a document would be more accessible and enhance the public’s understanding of constitutional matters.

On this ground, the proposal is disingenuous. Even nations with an established single document called a “constitution” have a broader edifice of constitutional law. US constitutional scholars have come to talk of their own “unwritten” constitution.

They talk of a “thin” and a “thick” constitution: the latter being the full document, the former the part the public understands, which includes the Bill of Rights, and sometimes the Declaration of Independence, which is not part of the US constitution at all.

One clever article on American constitutional law begins with a debate between a US law professor and an overseas counterpart. They talk through the last few amendments to the US constitution: the end of prohibition, the imposition of a two-term limit on Presidents, the extension of the voting age to 18-year-olds, and so on.

The point of this fictitious debate is that the development of constitutional law has very little to do with the formal US constitution. Over the past 50 years, the US Supreme Court has invoked the US constitution in ruling on the legitimacy of abortion, the death penalty, affirmative action, political campaign donations, and various other matters. They are not expressly covered by the constitution’s text. Rather, general constitutional provisions describing such matters of freedom of speech and cruel and unusual punishment are applied to specific situations. Constitutional questions are not resolved in an ether.

Put aside for a moment whether it is best to have unelected judges, rather than an elected legislature, determine the law on such issues. To properly understand the US constitution, we need to read not a single document, but a large number of Supreme Court opinions, consider various conventions of judicial and legislative practice, and understand presidential administration behaviours. In short, we need to understand an extensive unwritten constitution.

An interested member of the public wanting to properly understand the US constitution, its arrangements, its law, and how it works in practice, in an easily accessible format, would most usefully turn to a textbook. We can do the same with the New Zealand constitution.

If Palmer and Butler’s main goal is accessibility, and public understanding of the constitution, they could as usefully advocate for more teaching of civics in schools (something Palmer has suggested elsewhere, in law review articles), they could disseminate media on constitutional issues (something Palmer has done elsewhere, via National Radio), or they could publish a new book.

What they don’t need to do is promote a New Zealand Constitution in the sense of a single written document of four, 40, or 400 pages. It won’t make our constitutional law more accessible. It might even expand the unwritten constitution, through cases interpreting this new document.

Some of us quite like a system that means issues like abortion, the death penalty, affirmative action, political campaign donations, and yes, even gun rights, can be decided by an elected Parliament, not unelected judges.

The irony is that in suggesting something that is unwanted and unwarranted, Palmer and Butler are drawing public attention to the benefits of our current constitutional arrangements.

They are last week’s scandal in a year running over with scandals, but in truth their significance goes far beyond mere scandal: they are a window into the soul of the Democratic party and into the dreams and thoughts of the class to whom the party answers.

Ashleigh Ali, 27, was born in Pakistan, where her parents first escaped to, and moved to New Zealand as refugees in 1997.

“My heart will always be with Kurdistan and that’s where my blood ties are,” she said.

Another leaked email has emerged showing Democratic National Committee boss and former CNN contributor Donna Brazile sharing a debate question in advance with the Hillary Clinton campaign — despite Brazile’s persistent claims to the contrary.

CNN announced in a statement soon after the email became public Monday that Brazile had tendered her resignation and the network accepted it on Oct. 14, days after the controversy over Brazile tipping off the Clinton campaign initially broke.

According to documents released Monday by WikiLeaks, Brazile sent Clinton Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri an email titled, “One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash,” the night before the March 6 CNN primary debate in Flint, Mich.

“Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint,” Brazile wrote.

The following night, Lee-Anne Walters, a mom whose twin boys stopped growing and whose daughter lost her hair during the Flint water contamination crisis, posed a question to both Clinton, the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, and her primary opponent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“After my family, the city of Flint and the children in D.C. were poisoned by lead, will you make a personal promise to me right now that, as president, in your first 100 days in office, you will make it a requirement that all public water systems must remove all lead service lines throughout the entire United States, and notification made to the — the citizens that have said service lines?” Walters asked.

Clinton responded with a lengthy answer that moderator Anderson Cooper had to twice interrupt in an attempt to keep to the agreed-upon time limit. Clinton’s remarks drew applause from the crowd, though she wound up ultimately losing the state’s primary to Sanders two days later. ..

The worst part of course is the fact she lied and lied and lied about it…

Brazile, in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly on Oct. 19, again denied aiding Clinton during the primaries.

“Well, Kelly, since I play straight up and I play straight up with you, I did not receive any questions from CNN,” she said.

When Kelly pressed, Brazile said she was being persecuted and questioned the credibility of the hacked files.

“As a Christian woman, I understand persecution, but I will not sit here and be persecuted,” Brazile said. “Your information is totally false.”

Doesn’t sound very Christian to me.

The FBI’s Clinton Investigation Is Wider Than Assumed

The Washington Post editors today added to their hypocrisy with three additional anti-Comey op-eds:

I interpret that as naked fear that their candidate Hillary Clinton may now loose. That fear is justified.

The Wall Street Journal today added to its so far excellent reporting on the Clinton issues by revealing the much bigger story behind it: FBI in Internal Feud Over Hillary Clinton Probe – Laptop may contain thousands of messages sent to or from Mrs. Clinton’s private server.

According to the reporting, based on FBI sources, FBI agents in New York and elsewhere have been looking into the Clinton Foundation for several months. They suspect that this “charity” was selling political favors by then Secretary of State Clinton in exchange for donations that personally benefited the Clinton family.

The Justice Department blocked further aggressive investigations into the issue, allegedly because of the ongoing election. A high FBI official, Andrew McCabe, also showed disinterest in a further pursuit of the issue. McCabe’s wife had just tried to get elected as state senator and had receive a campaign donation of nearly $500,000 from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Clinton friend and at times board member of the Clinton Foundation. The FBI agents pursuing the investigation into the Clinton Foundation were not amused.

The separate investigation into former Congressman Weiner for sexual contacts with minors was looking for pedophile stuff on Weiner’s electronic devices. It didn’t find any as far as we can tell, but found some 650,000 emails archived on a laptop.

Several thousand of these emails were sent or received by Weiner’s spouse, the intimate Clinton aide Huma Abedin. They came through Clinton’s private email server. At least some of these thousands of emails are likely copies of those that were deleted from Clinton’s server when the (separate) investigation into it started. They may be evidence that Clinton sent and received classified documents through her unsecured system. Some of these emails may also contain serious dirt related to the Clinton Foundation. (It is highly likely that at least some FBI agents know “unofficially” what these emails contain. Legally they could not look at them without a warrant which they only got today.)

Thus we have three ongoing FBI investigations:

into Clinton’s private email-server used illegally for official State Department business;
into the Clinton Foundation and its role in peddling political influence in exchange for donations;
into the personal conduct of Anthony Weiner.
Additional investigations that may come up are on:

the mixing of donations to the Clinton Foundation and personal compensation for Bill Clinton for holding highly paid speeches;
for profit activities by the group of people running Bill Clinton’s businesses as well as the Clinton Foundation financing;
inappropriate hindering of the FBI investigations by the Justice Department and/or by McCabe.
With such a list of potentially very serious scandals pending it is highly understandable that FBI director Comey went public and did not follow the advice from the Justice Department to pursue these issues only on a reduced level. It would have been political suicide to try to keep this silent. Way too many FBI agents eager to pursue these case were in the known and would have talked, as they do now, to the media.

If Clinton gets elected she will be hampered by these scandals for the next two years. The Republicans in Congress will jump on these issues as soon as possible. There will be endless hearings with large media coverage. The only question is when the first attempts at an impeachment process will be made – before or after she moves back into the White House. She and her family may be better off with her losing the campaign.

    But anyway, point is, key people in key positions who 99.99% of the time do the standard job with the standard aplomb but when the occasion calls such as when Lynch told Comey what the play would be, that early July day, well, the rest is history being made, isn’t it.

A former FBI official described the Clintons as a ‘crime family’ days after the bureau reopened its investigation into Hillary’s personal email server.

James Kallstrom, the former assistant director of the FBI, spoke out against the Clinton family on Sunday in a radio interview with host and Greek-American billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis on ‘The Cats Roundtable’.

‘The Clintons, that’s a crime family. It’s like organized crime, basically. The Clinton Foundation is a cesspool,’ Kallstrom said.

‘It’s just outrageous how Hillary Clinton sold her office for money.

And she’s a pathological liar, and she’s always been a liar. And God forbid if we put someone like that in the White House.’

Kallstrom, who is best known for leading the investigation into the explosion of TWA flight 800 in the late 1990s, also went after the FBI in the interview and said the initial investigation into the email server was ‘never a real investigation.’

‘They never had grand jury empaneled. And the reason … was that Loretta Lynch would not go along with that,’ Kallstrom said.

‘So this investigation was without the ability to serve subpoenas, serve search warrants, and obtain the evidence that they ended up begging for. It was just ludicrous what went on.’

He added that the FBI ‘left so much stuff on the table’.

Kallstrom did defend the agents who were tasked with investigating Clinton.

A personal recommendation here, but I recommend watching Dennis Wise’s YouTube series “NWO: Communism by the Backdoor”. The NWO series is pretty big, over 20 episodes of about 15 minutes each. It goes into the history of the UN, Hollywood, the news and the (((shadowy powers))) behind everything.

  It’s a hard fact EAD but you’re right, this is what it is, the signs are everywhere but people focus on the illusion just like the Germans did.
  
  It’s just a passing phase, this ‘war on terror’ this globalisation, just a passing phase.
  
  And actually, it is.
  
  This is a fantastic time to be alive, because it’s a change of epoch. It’s a transition from the US to China as the leader and we’re witnessing the beginning of that starting with the 1990’s.
  
  And that has a whole lot of ramificaitons for humanity because it won’t be an English-speaking world, necessarily, it will also have different rulers and ruling techniques.
  
  People don’t seem to realise that Russia threw off the last vestige of her communist invasion in the 1990’s. It suffered a lot under communism and they don’t want a bar of it now. But people don’t get that.
  
  People don’t seem to get the obvious fact the baddie ‘war on terror’ wasn’t producing quite enough baddies to make the huge military-industrial complex fat and happy. So they fire up a real country, that needs real spending, like 1.3 trillion on nukes for instance. Now THAT’S defence.
  
  So the media simply paint Russia as if it was 1956 not 2016 and all the sheep bray and bray and approve it.
  
  Haven’t they.
  
  That’s a short e.g. of propaganda working on you today.
  
  Like Bernays said:

  And that’s how communism works, and Russia doesn’t have it anymore, but the US has all the hallmarks: e.g. controlled media, corrupt and elite ruling establishment, massive security apparatus…
