OK, so no reaction by Michael Woodhouse and/or Bill English to the revelations on Kiwiblog yesterday regarding Sultan Ali Abdul Ali Akbari? So we are nearly at 5:00pm Friday, when any chance of this appearing in a news cycle are passed.

Can I suggest that if you want to achieve something tangible in the media and political realm – other than making a few folks around here angry – you don’t have the revelations championed by a disgraced former -MP whose political career went down like the Hindenburg, and whose general views towards immigrants who are Muslims is “we should do what the Americans did to their Japanese residents in the 1940s”, even though (and this from a lawyer) it would be “harsh and inevitably unjust “. In context “inevitably” is a very necessary adverb.

Oh yeah, and disingenuous yet obsequious phrases such as “Given the dysfunction of your department in this regard, (I mean no criticism of you)” loses extra points.

Any political handler for the government who was aware of that back story, would be advising “don’t touch this with a forty foot barge pole!” Sorry, David Garrett, other than a few cheers around here (and despite my distaste for your regular habit of misrepresenting others in this forum, I nonetheless salute you for 3S)

…it would seem your days as a political mover-and-shaker are over. Damaged goods. I don’t make the rules. I just report them.

    You can do the same to practically any business these days. Threaten to air a complaint, no matter how poorly justified or unreasonable, on TripAdvisor, FaceBook or similar. Even if it’s done absolutely nothing wrong in reality, the business will not be able to face the adverse publicity and is more than likely to cave in and pay up. I don’t think it’s going too far to call this sort of behaviour extortion, or even blackmail, and the media shouldn’t be colluding in it

  I think airlines need to consider having cameras in all of their planes now to combat the rather one-sided cellphone clips that seem to surface which usually show the final and seemingly extreme reaction of crew but not the events that led up to that point. People would have less sympathy for the restrained passenger if they got to see the alleged abuse being hurled at the crew and other passengers.
  
  The buses up my way all have multiple cameras on board for security – why not planes?

  The flight is less than 10 hours for a start. The entire flight may have taken 14 hours after stopover. Media state he was “trying to stretch his legs in business class” but other reports (and BA) note he had taken a seat. If you have a known medical condition then you as passenger need to make appropriate decisions (fly / not fly, cattle / business class). Passenger was verbally abusing crew. Nothing stopping him walking around cattle class or politely informing crew that his legs were swelling and asking for help.

It’s interesting that the Chinese authorities say the names have been posted after tip-offs from abroad.

Trump has ordered a review of the aluminium industry ( as for steel) with the objective of building up production in the USA. If this leads to tariffs, or ‘countervailing duties’ the cost burden is likely to kill off Tiwai Point. The flow on will be surplus electricity in the NZ market or an opportunity to attract industry requiring cheap energy.

For those that complain about subsidies for rail it is worth taking notice of the disruption and cost of a massive increase of truck movements on the South Island roads as a consequence of the Kaikoura earthquake. It is obvious that main trunk rail transport (inefficient as it is because of single rail configuration) limits damage and congestion (and accidents) on main roads and justifies a subsidy (from road tax). Rail is an integral part of the transport network

  BTW, did you hear that Italy and Germany agreed on a pipeline to Europe with Israel the day before the recent chemical ~~attack~~ false flag? How convenient. You know about those huge gas fields off the Israeli coast right? And they have to get a pipeline to Europe through Syria to exploit it. The Israeli’s employed Flynn to do some work on it. GD’s non-appearance until nearly 2:00pm today has not helped National MPs keep abreast with anger being expressed here about the Government (through Michael Woodhouse and his officials) dropping the ball on the Sultan Ali Abdul Ali Akbari case. The latter person is a repeat-offender, convicted criminal, a paedophiliac refugee still ‘enjoying’ our unjustified welcome and hospitality,

There’s no suggestion on my part that GD’s late appearance is anything other than an unfortunate operational shortcoming. But someone is sure to suggest that it is the result of a conspiracy to keep the embarrassing Immigration fiasco ‘off the front pages’.

I’m still angry at the shortcomings exposed in Mr Woodhouse’s control of his portfolio, and his Department’s soft approach to a dangerous criminal who is a threat to vulnerable New Zealand children. Where do the inexplicable views of some of our decision-makers come from? They don’t seem to run parallel with any spirit of justice and public order that most New Zealanders would expect as a matter of course.

We should have been able to expect that Mr Woodhouse’s resignation by now as Minister of Immigration, leaving some minor wriggle room for a dignified changeover. It’s clear, however, that he won’t go. So again I’m looking to the Rt Hon Bill English to use his authority as Leader to deal with such a disgraceful episode that has arisen in the early months of his Government.

When can we expect to hear Mr English’s Prime Ministerial take on the matter, and how he intends to deal with it?

  While Immigration Minister Michael Woodhouse works on reversing the non-deportation decision to match his declared expectations, the man should simply be locked up to serve the 238 days that remain in his initial sentence.
  
  Since his early release February 21, he has apparently now been convicted and sentenced for harassing women at shopping malls, given a “pre-charge” warning for misbehaviour with young girls and women at a Henderson swimming complex, required observe a curfew, have no unsupervised contacts with under 16 year olds, and to wear GPS – while the original sentence was to end October 16, 2017.

  I think it’s international law that a deportee’s home country must agree to accept them. I think it’s probable there is an obligation to do so unless there exist exceptional circumstances, unless and until the person’s citizenship status changes. Which it may do when that person receives either residency and/or citizenship in the country which is wanting to deport them.
  
  I mean Immigration are not idiots. The Afghani case discussed yesterday probably falls into the category of: if he goes home to where he used to live people will finger him to the Taliban who will kill him, or if he lives somewhere else in Afghanistan he knows no-one and since there probably is no pension in Afghanistan he will probably wind up begging on the street before starving to death.
  
  It may not be quite as bad but I imagine something like those considerations arose.
  
  That’s not excusing his actions, lest people misunderstand.

In order to make this false [chem attack] charge stick, Washington prevented any investigation whatsoever into the facts. If Washington is so certain that Syria is responsible, why does Washington block an investigation? If Washington is right, an investigation would prove Washington’s case. But as Washington is again lying through its teeth, an investigation would prove the contrary. And that is what Washington fears and is the reason Washington blocked an investigation.

Why do Western peoples believe the US government, a well proven liar, who blocks an investigation and asserts that everyone must believe Washington or else be put on a list of Russian agents?

Are Western populations intelligent enough to understand that the only reason for Washington to block an investigation of the alleged use by Syria of a chemical weapon is that the facts clearly do not support Washington’s lie? No, they are not.

Theodore Postol, a scientist at MIT, has concluded from his investigation that the chemical weapon was not dropped from the air but was set off on the ground and that it was not Sarin gas as Sarin lingers and the alleged aid workers who were immediately on the scene were unprotected by gloves or masks or by anything. If the gas were Sarin, they would be dead also.

The Russian explanation is that the Syrian air force attack hit a storage facility, conveniently arranged by Washington, that contained chemical weapons. I have seen reports that Washington, or Washington’s vassals such as Saudi Arabia, have provided ISIS with chemical weapons. President Putin of Russia says the reason Washington has delivered chemical weapons to ISIS is that there can be more orchestrated instances of their use that can be blamed on Assad.

I think I can say in complete confidence that this is what is happening: Washington intends to wear Russia down with orchestrated chemical attack after chemical attack, portraying Russia as an inhuman defender of Assad’s alleged chemical attacks, in order to more thoroughly isolate Russia and in order to provoke opposition to Putin’s government, especially among the US and German financed NGOs that Russia stupidly permits to operate in Russia and in the Russian media. Washington’s goal is to force by the weight of world opinion Putin to abandon Assad to Washington.

US Secretary of State Tillerson, another gigantic disappointment to those who hoped for peaceful relations between the US and Russia/China/Iran/Syria, has said that the US still intends regime change in Syria. Tillerson has advised Russia to get out of Washington’s way and to “consider carefully their support for Bashar al-Assad.”

Russia cannot abandon Assad, because if Syria falls to Washington, Iran will be next, and then the Washington-financed jihadists will be set upon the Muslim populations of the Russian Federation and China.

This is Washington’s game plan. I am certain Putin is aware of it, and I think the Chinese are, despite their inordinate focus on making money.

The questions before us could not be any clearer: Will Russia and China break and give in to Washington? If not, will Washington become a good world citizen for the first time in America’s history, or will Washington issue more threats, thereby convincing Russia and China that their alternative is to wait for Washington’s preemptive nuclear strike or deliver one themselves?

This is the only question that the world faces that is worth our attention. I spent a quarter century in Washington. The evil that is in control there at the present time is unprecedented. I have never seen anything like it.

Can the world survive the evil that is concentrated in Washington, evil that has the support of the governments of the Western world?

      Too soon to judge Parker, but he would have only lost to Tua if he was silly enough to stand like a statue and let Tua him. Styles make fights, and Tua, despite his big left bomb never had the skill of a Joe Frazier giving away height and reach to get inside to do the damage at the highest level.

        No argument there Kimbo- Frazier was a phenomenally tough fighter in his prime (and one of the meanest Left Hooks in History) . Just damned unfortunate to bump into Ali and Foreman!..

        Again styles make fights. Against Foreman, Frazier’s “work inside” style meant he was walking into the swing lead weights that were Foreman’s fists! Their fight-count was 0-2, the first that second round KO (after being knocked down 5 times before!) in the world title fight in Jamaica in 1973, and then a sixth round KO when they fought in 1976.
        
        But there was only ever one fighter who was “unfortunate” when it came to an Ali-Frazier match-up, and it wasn’t Frazier! Final count was 2-1 to Ali, but that last fight in Manila nearly killed them both…and as Frazier, who always held a justified grudge against Ali said…Ali bore the damage for the rest of his life. Great fight. Credit to Ali, and despite all the hype, like a great champion he could take a beating when he had to. Mind you, Frazier was the same. The matador and the bull, those two. Whereas, because “styles make fights” Ali would always beat a flat-footed puncher like a Foreman or Liston.
        
        Speaking of Moorer, I remember he was stupid enough in the 10th round when points ahead to wander into the reach of the 45-year old Foreman…who then regained his title after 20 years with one punch! 😉
        
        Bob Jones was always dismissive of Tua, despite the hype, because of his lack of size and skills to compensate. No, Parker is nowhere near a finished product, but that is not his fault, nor the standard of competition he has to face. Time will tell.

        Yep. I remember the pre-match weigh in photo, and despite his hair, Tua was still giving away what seemed like a foot in height…and the NZ TAB had them both even at $2.35, I think! Even though it was boxing, I was tempted to pile everything I had onto Lewis because you would never get better odds on an almost sure thing! Like the All Blacks playing Italy. Sure, you could get an upset (and heavy weight boxing only takes one punch), but come on! Even odds against a good tall champion with a massive reach like Lennox Lewis?!

        Kimbo – I was working a night job in a Bar with a TAB at the time of the Tua/Lewis fight.
        I shit you not- 9 out of 10 bets I took on that fight were people putting their dosh on Tua knocking Lewis out in the first or second round!
        A few times I asked them if they were sure? And reminded them of the fates of Razor Ruddock and Andrew Golata..(To which I was usually met by blank stares!)
        The average Kiwi just doesn’t know much about Boxing…

        I also saw a school mate fight Tua when tua was in his last year at school — and that was after he had already beaten a US Marine! — Tua was brutal, efficent, class……I saw that he would go along way, but then so too did most others. New Barry years ago.

There’s no gain in the calculation, is why.

NK is doing nothing it hasn’t been doing for decades.

The US has got reliable defences against a limited number of ICBMs even if NK fires them at them.

Trump is picking a fight and the interesting question is why: where’s the upside?

David Dougherty, wrongly convicted of rape and abduction, dies after long illness

A Manawatu man who was wrongfully imprisoned for a rape he did not commit has died.

Palmerston North’s David Dougherty served more than three years in jail during the 1990s after being convicted of the abduction and rape of an 11-year-old girl in West Auckland.

He was acquitted after a retrial in 1997 and in 2001, he received an apology from the Government and was awarded $868,728.80 in compensation.

She has repeatedly said she will ban it if elected along with halal slaughter. Hers is the stance of a patriot. I am heartened to see so many NZ patriots at this site supporting the Front Nationale and the Le Pens. Like the EDL in the UK Le Pen is being denounced by globalists for its patriotism.

Why are the groups representing France’s Jews campaigning so hard against Marine Le Pen? Is it because Len Pen the patriot has told the Jews: you must choose between being globalists and French? Le Pen’s position is very clear – no Jew may be a citizen of Israel and a citizen of France. Europe has had too much trouble with Middle Eastern races who will not assimilate.

  At the end of WW2 European borders were pulled down while Israeli borders were constructed out of need. Yet both won the war[Modern Israel was created]. Youth in both places were then broadly bought up as polar opposites – one mostly nationalist and one mostly globalist. Israeli adults are now misunderstood and there for easily condemned.
