    The bit I don’t understand is why a strong, capable, professional woman would stay in an abusive relationship.
    
    She’s a lawyer. She could easily find her own flat, she knew all the processes and mechanisms to get court orders, protection etc.
    
    She doesn’t have kids, she has money so nobody really has power over her. There was no need for her to stay in an abusive relationship.

      Other than a short reference in a brief background to her relationships at the time , there’s no detail. This is poor , especially in these days of # activism. Contrast that to the detail of why they left Iran . There’s a deliberate omission going on re the alleged DV.

Here is another reason the Left Wing has a stranglehold on Auckland local politics. The Right (C & R type groups) have been like a bunch of headless chooks who cannot even organise a booze up in a brewery. Now the 5 C & R members of the AECT (who own the majority of Vector) has split down the middle with elections underway tomorrow. City Vision (Left wing) candidates are licking their chops in anticipation. Come on Auckland right wingers – sort your own problems out – do not expect the National Party to come to the rescue (wisely, the Party wants to keep right out of the shambles).

    If C&R want to achieve this objective they should strive hard to work in unison, not be seen to be squabbling. The Trust seems to be incompetent to carry out its duty of being ‘appointers’ of Vector’s board (by virtue of owning the majority of shares). The time has come for the Trust to be put out of its misery and ownership of Vector be returned to the Council (its predecessor the former Auckland Electric Power Board was a creation of the old Auckland City Council in what was a far sighted move at the time).
    If City Vision are trying to put a suicide squad into place on the Trust then so be it.

Riverhead quarry rapist’s previous convictionscontinued

“The previous conviction for a repeat rapist who committed a violent attack in the Riverhead quarry near Auckland can now be reported for the first time.

The 60-year-old truck driver from Onehunga, Colin Jack Mitchell, was convicted of kidnapping, causing grievous bodily harm and assaulting a woman with intent to sexually violate her in March.
DNA from the quarry scene linked him to a historical rape case that had gone unsolved for 25 years. The jury found him guilty of that attack as well.

But what the jury did not know was that Mitchell had raped when he was just 15 years old.
The case had remained the subject of a suppression order until today. RNZ challenged the order in the Court of Appeal and the senior court revoked the order today when his bid to have his convictions were quashed.

At the age of just 15, Mitchell raped a woman in her flat. He was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in Mt Eden Prison.

The woman he raped told RNZ that being in court and watching Mitchell as he was convicted for the quarry attack and another rape – his fourth – was liberating…”

  An important aspect of the jury system is that the jury must not take extraneous matters into account – that is anything concerning the case that is not ‘given’ to the jury during the trial. Hence the suppression of backgrounds and other details concerning accused persons when jury trials are possible or pending such as the possibility of a re-trial. In this case a Radio NZ journalist would have applied to have the order lifted since the purpose of the order had ceased and the relevant court agreed.
  There was no question in this instance that the suppression order was wrongly applied to start with.

Scenario……

You let your 12 year-old daughter go out to play with the 14 year-old girl next door.

What you don’t know, is that your daughter has a screwdriver hidden in her jacket, and her friend is carrying a knife.

Instead of going over to the council reserve for a swing, they decide it will be a lot more fun to break into a few cars parked around the hood.

The girls suddenly find themselves confronted by a well meaning, but somewhat upset, 54 year-old man, who the older girl fatally stabs in the heart.

The thing is, can you really lay any blame on the parents? They always knew their kids had been stealing shit from the local ‘Toys R Us’, but to be fair, had no idea they’d taken the bus all the way out to Bunnings.

    The jury would have been instructed that a guilty verdict for murder could be brought in only if the use of the knife was ‘likely’ to cause death (and death resulted) otherwise it was manslaughter. The jurors would have no doubt have deliberated earnestly whether it was ‘murder’ as defined in s167(b) of the Crimes Act “…. if the offender means to cause to the person killed any bodily injury that is known to the offender to be likely to cause death, and is reckless whether death ensues or not”.
    There is probably not much difference in consequences in this case as the offender was 14yo. So a sentence of life imprisonment (if murder) would be unlikely to be imposed meaning that she would not be on parole for life when released from any detention.

  Yes I think that Christine Blasey Ford was lying in her testimony. Either she is lying or Judge Kavanagh is lying? And the judge has evidence while she has none.
  
  Having watched a few body language people on YouTube comment on Ford’s testimony I now believe that it was highly rehearsed and highly deceptive. To take her testimony seriously we have to believe that that little girl voice and the small tiny wee creature that she she presented herself as, is the real Ms Ford.
  
  Because she is a university professor with a PhD and presumably a successful career. We know that she lied about her fear of flying. We have evidence that she lied about coaching people through a polygraph test. We know that she is a Bernie Sanders supporter. So she is a creature of the left who would be vehemently opposed to a Conservative majority on the Supreme Court.
  
  People say what would she get from coming forward to testify in this way? Well she gets to be on TV. So she gets to be famous. She gets money. Apparently her go fund me account has $1 million in it. And she potentially gets the adulation of the left for being the person who fearlessly stands up and brings down that evil conservative judge and rapist.
  
  So she gets money fame and approval. Those are powerful motivators.
  
  Maybe something happened to Ms Ford when she was 15. But I do not believe that it has anything to do with Judge Kavanagh.
  
  And in a just world the media would investigate her story and find out if she has in fact lied under oath?

    We should not even get to the point of deciding who to believe. If the accusation is so lacking in detail that it’s impossible to establish whether it is true or not, it should not be accepted as evidence in a hearing.
    
    Also, it is well established that people who undergo counselling can recover memories of things that never happened. The memories are real but there is no real corresponding event that created the memory. So it is very possible that neither of them is lying.

There are reports out there that she helps people cheat a polygraph, flys all the time, didn’t live in houses with double front doors and only ended up on the West Coast to get away from her years of embarrassing herself drinking recklessly.   The biggest problem is that the legal loan sharks will go out of business and the industry will continue – but now driven by gangs.
  
  The reason for the extremely high interest rates is that the loans are very high risk. If they were low risk they could get a bank loan.
  
  Now those high risk loans will continue, but now enforced by gangs. Can’t pay, well send your daughter around to pay in kind or deliver this little package for us.

  I can’t find the original story, didn’t Cindy say that the lender would not be able to charge any more than 100% the original amount in interest. No talk of duration of the loan? So, if I borrow $500K at 5.8% for 30 years the total repayments would be $1,055,227, however, if the interest rate were say 7.8% the cost of borrowing would be far greater than the original loan, the total repayment being 1,295,115.00.

  Well, the rate is high, but you get up to a month of free credit, with zero interest charged if paid on time. It is essentially unsecured loan money, the cost of recovering such money is typically very high, and the banks also cover fraudulent transactions if you can show that you took appropriate actions.
  
  So the answer at least in part is, credit card advances are very expensive so don’t use them unless essential. If it is a purchase, pay it off on time and if necessary arrange to borrow money on a personal loan to pay off the credit card as that would be a lot less expensive normally.
  
  There are a few people who get trapped by circumstances into expensive credit card debt, but in most cases it is voluntary foolishness.

The real Agenda of Paris as is our own Tax Working Group is to transfer wealth from the middle classes ( the rich class dont pay tax they employ tax accountants and lawyers to make sure they dont) to the poor classes and from rich countries to poor countries,

BTW The Brookings Institute has calculated that just of 50% of the worlds population is now middle class or above. That is they have enough disposal income to provide for the necessities of life with a surplus for discretionary spending.

And. The single reason that this has occurred since 1800 and the agricultural revolution is…………wait for it………………………..COAL.

So the Left want to regress back to 1800 when 90% of the worlds population survived on $2 a day in todays money.

I am interested from listening how brilliantly Robertson has handed our financial affairs.
On the other hand if I listen to professionals they are very concerned as to the way that it is possible that another Worldwide Financial crises is underway and the Sharemarkets around the world are showing serious nervousness.
Our dollar is dropping which of course helps exporters but increases the price of our imports – eg Fuel.
Some small movement would will make a serious mess of Kiwisaver investments.
I hope members realise that the Government does not guarantee Kiwisaver.
There would be a shock when peoples savings take a negative hit – but fear not the Investment Manager will still take their fees irrespective of the losses incurred by the Kiwisaver.

      A fall in these stocks triggers the computers to sell other stocks also.

  If an investor opts for ‘balanced’ or ‘growth’ funds, the investor must expect up’s and down’s. If an investor worries about his fund losing value, he should choose a ‘conservative’ fund that invests in decent quality bonds and other fixed rate things (and NOT sub-prime mortgages).
  So Kiwisaver and other investors whose fund values have diminished because of a stockmarket downturn should just ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’, they will come right.
  Investors in ‘conservative’ funds should not smirk at the misfortune of those in ‘growth’ funds, but instead move their investments into ‘growth’ funds while the price is down. The only people should be in ‘conservative’ funds are those coming up to retirement and who need to cash up. If they can delay switching or cashing up until the market improves then all the better.

        can be widened, straightened and improved
        all without cutting them off completely.
        Rail however you have to stop the use of, while you make the improvements.
        Rail lines are a much more PERMANENT feature than roads, cost more to make and are more difficult to change.

Since the topic of free speech has been pretty hot on KB lately this story definitely caught my eye.
Surely having a law on your statutes that allows legal claims to be lodged against people who call for a boycott of your country is totally undemocratic and goes completely against the principle of free speech even though you hear regularly that Israel is the only country in the Middle East to uphold these values.
I would have thought the state of Israel is more tolerant and open than to waste it’s time allowing it’s courts to be used to try and silence a couple of retarded teenagers from NZ calling for a boycott of a B grade celebrity singer to their country.
Have to say the whole situation is pretty pathetic and dictatorial in my opinion.

  The litigants have been harmed by the action of others and took it to court.
  They followed a legal process rather than head to the streets with violence which is generally the method of the BDS pricks.

  They can’t accept the rule of law.
  
  Compare and contrast with the #MeToo loonies who tear down males without any due process and this was carried over into the Supreme Court nomination where Crazy Blasey Ford was allowed to – in her Silly Little Girl voice- make false unsubstantiated accusations against the nominee while lying the whole time about Two doors and fear of flying at al.
  
  Compare and contrast with the fact that Kim DotCom was treated as a criminal with cops and dickheads rappelling into his house from helicopters over what is a civil matter (copyright) in NZ but was treated as a criminal matter to please the Hollyweirdos.
  We actually turned our legal process in NZ on its head to please an outside party.
  Like the big German lump or not, that is what happened and is a bad precedent.
  
  The libel laws are significantly different between USA and UK. People cope.
  
  Israel in this case wrote new law to cope with the vicious pricks of BDS. Good for them.

  Time for payback. When the liquidity is all mopped up too much risky borrowing adventure has already occurred. A slight reduction in availability through interest rate rises causes some defaults and a chain of consequences.
  
  Our banks have fed on the FED or others for the fixed interest rate mortgages and these can now be expected to be dearer on renewal. That puts our house prices as risk.

  What will be interesting is whether a NZ court would enforce the judgment. Usually the person who took the original court action has to arrange at his expense to enforce it in another country which means hiring a local lawyer, etc, etc. In this case the person suing is relying an a cause of action apparently not available in NZ so the chance of a NZ court enforcing it seems slim.

  There’s nothing that a socialist government would like more, than to gain control over general practice – shades of the NHS. This is one way in which they doubtless hope to drive a wedge between practices; once this has been achieved, they’ll gradually make it more attractive for GPs to buy into the new scheme, which will gradually be developed towards a full capitation system, progressively isolating the rest.
  It will be a disaster if it’s not vigorously opposed; but some GPs will probably sell out. I once worked under the NHS ‘free for all’ service, and it was a bloody nightmare.

The word ‘man’ was originally gender neutral, meaning more or less the same as the modern day word “person”.

As such a wifman, or woman, originally just meant a skilled person and was gender neutral.
I can see why modern radical feminists hate the term.

  That’s just about right: ‘mann’ originally referred to any person (in the singular) or people/humanity (in the plural). It resembles the modern word ‘one’ when relating to an abstract human identity.
  The word for a male used to be ‘wermann’ and a female was, as you say, a ‘wifmann’. In time, the extra ‘n’ was lost; then the male form dropped the ‘wer-‘ part; whilst the female form first became ‘wiman’ and later, ‘woman’.
  The term ‘wife’ followed a slightly different course, just as you have said; it is analogous to ‘husband’ (from the word for house + holder), so that we now talk of ‘husbandry’ to describe the prudent use of resources (as in ‘animal husbandry’). The spousal reference came later.
  This is all part of the attraction of the English language: its subtleties, nuances, and derivations.
  None of it, however, appears to carry any sway with the feminists, who seem determined to take offence at any term containing ‘man’, regardless.

  I’m here. Just as disgusted and appalled as I was yesterday. I haven’t been banned – which is to the credit of those who curate Kiwiblog.
  
  We, together, in a collaborative effort, surprisingly established that Kiwiblog endorses the murder by Jewish terrorism of innocents (including Jews and Kiwis) by 200pound bomb.
  
  The credulousness of individuals unable to accept that Mr Rosenfeld is 100% not a ‘crazy individual’ and instead an operative, attempting yet another instance of Israeli domestic terrorism in the United States was evident. There is plenty of evidence to that effect. There was plenty of evidence related to 9/11 as well. There is no point proferring it, because it will be dismissed, of course.
  
  I genuinely did not expect to be hit with a barrage of downticks for expressing opposition to radical jewish terrorism by a radical jewish supremacist who happens to be state sponsored by a radical national socialist jewish state. I went as far as to observe the analog of the occurrence in Israel. Even that apparently didn’t move these hypocrats. Yes, these Kiwiblog aristocrats of hypocrisy.
  
  It’s quite interesting. I did some research. Have a look in the NZHerald archives. New Zealand’s Jewish community is quite active, as they always are, in censorship and destruction of individuals who point out the lies in their victim narratives. There was a brilliant student at Canterbury University who had a new, unassailable angle on the Holocaust. He got shoahed. His work got shoahed. Not because it wasn’t true, of course. Just because it arose ‘badfeels’.
  
  Mr Farrar deserves extra respect and credit for taking the lead on defending free speech in New Zealand, given it seems his peers are leaders in seeking to destroy it, as they’ve destroyed it all over the west. Always based on their miserable, illegitimate feelings of oppression, as they oppress everyone else and purport not to see it, or understand the confusion and justifiable grievance it creates.
  
  So, EAD – you are probably the most honest and intelligent poster on Kiwiblog GeneralDebate. Isn’t it laughable?
  
  Rosenfeld is vastly worse then one guy driving a car to get away from a crowd smashing his to pieces at Charlottesville. Yet Kiwiblog had plenty to say about that.   I looked into Ireland. That poster was correct. The Jewish lobby in Ireland, with the other diverse communities, are going to end Irish Catholicism. Think about how terrible this is on so many levels. No matter the degree of persecution claimed by Jews (as opposed to reality) for the most part until they egregiously offended, they were allowed to practice their religion.
  
  As soon as they’ve obtained power in a country like Ireland, and control over information dissemination (Ireland can’t access alt media), they pass laws to destroy christian religion utterly, forever, whilst preserving their own. A reminder – as was stated. Catholic Irish cannot prioritise catholic kids for catholic schools. They must take minority religions and anti-religious, even as both retain the rights to preferential exclusions for their own schools. Catholicism is now dead in Ireland. It’s just breathing out it’s last breaths. No catholic schools means a return to the days of Oliver Cromwell.
  
  As that poster stated, such an evil violation means every right-thinking Irish person now should have a hatred of the Jews sharper then any hatred previously conceived. Because Ireland welcomed these people. Gave them peace, prosperity, and safe harbour. And in return, they are destroying catholicism, even as they talk about ‘Judeo-Christianity’. I hope the IRA reminds them that Ireland has always been subject to cultural occupation. But this is worse even then the British degradation. The British didn’t pretend to be friends. These snakes croon about how they respect and admire the Irish, and even are Irish. Even as they totally destroy their culture, and they seek to replace every single Irish person within 50 years.       I read several of his earlier books, and he went to the wives of ex German generals and found various documents. So he did use some originals sources.
      In one of his books he shows that Hitler hardly ever mentioned the Jews or the camps.
      
      We must not always believe what we are told, in secondary books and by Hollywood.
      Eg Johnathon Parshall’s book Shattered Sword on Midway proves that the accepted wisdom that the Japanese carrier decks were full of planes is incorrect.

        n the course of my life I have very often been a prophet, and have usually been ridiculed for it.   Speaking of Cromwell. Why is Britain such a sick society in the aggregate? If you move outside the concentric circles where the embezzled cash of the City of London Corporation operates, it’s starting to look a bit like Russia under the Oligarchs, just with a few ‘indigenous’ differences. Why?
  
  You have a vicious police state on it’s way to becoming a Caliphate. It is characterised by industrial scale child abuse of European children, the imprisonment of individuals who speak out against abuses by the diverse (especially the jews) in their thousands every year, parallel economy and money laundering, and vicious surveillance and political policing even as the police don’t answer people who speak English and crime rages out of control.
  
  That’s because in England both parties are totally captured by Jewish lobbies – all of their memberships have to come through the Labour Friends of Israel, or the Conservative Friends of Israel. What you see in England is a Talmud society. Just like in Russia under the Oligarchs – that’s the preferential model for England. It’s so interesting that the massive population reduction in Russia under those Jewish Oligarchs is never commented upon. No wonder they like Putin. Even though he is a mafioso criminal himself, he doesn’t regard slavs as Sub-Human like the Oligarchs did. So he doesn’t do things like cut of power to entire districts so hundreds and even thousands of people freeze to death for speaking out against the Oligarchs etc.
  
  As long as the Jews feel nice in unrecognisable London where there are no British people, and have their own separate clean water and paramilitaries keeping the diversity crime out of their junctions etc, they’re happy to see 1million English girls raped, and make sure anyone who talks about it goes to prison etc.
  
  Australia is now in for the same treatment. Very swiftly, free speech was destroyed in New South Wales within a couple of months. It is now illegal to say the bad things the Jews and their Chinese and muslim friends do. Australia is going to become unrecognisable. Everyone will wonder what happened. It’s simple. The Deputies are simply following the model they always implement. The population will be replaced, and they will sit at the top, safe and secure in Mosman and North Shore totally exclusive and xenophobic. They are already forming social alliances with high aptitude Chinese and Indians they are busily subverting Australia alongside. The Chinese will probably eventually supplant them in Australia. But they’re betting they can run the same game with them as they did with pre Gough-Whitlam Australia.
  
  And there is no reason the same pattern shouldn’t play out in NZ. It’s not inevitable. Mr Farrar and Mr Key both show that individuals can be wonderful people of superlative character who simply adopt a moderate multicultural outlook with free speech etc and that’s great. But it is equally apparent that they are anomalous within their communities.
  
  It’s this incredibly malign almost unbelievable hypocrisy, aversion to truth, solipsism, fake victimhood and neurosis that destroys societies which is at issue. What really grates is the affected startlement. How could anyone possibly oppose having their religion destroyed, their speech destroyed, their nations destroyed, and their freedoms destroyed? Anti-semitism!
  
  I apologise for the cussing. I simply cannot fathom how a supposedly affluent and educated blog audience endorses indiscriminate mass murder by Jews. Maybe I just think too much.
  
  I hope you continue to remind Kiwibloggers and the people who congregate here of all of these things.
  
  I’m just viscerally revolted by the what was gleaned yesterday. At no stage did I expect mass downticks for citing and opposing indiscriminate terrorism that could catalyse further violence based on false pretences.
