  I saw it again this morning and couldn’t stop thinking there is nothing sweet or endearing about this, there is a Chile front and center with hair that his parents should be ashamed of and of course there is the violence aspect with the shouting and chanting..things children should understand and not act out as shown. It’s actually quite disturbing when you look at it closely. It’s cultural alright, a culture of violence and confrontation..

What disturbs me most about our PriNZess is not her so much her use of taxpayer resources, but her shameless lack of any sense of duty. She seems to be using being PM as a massive opportunity to launch herself from obscurity, rather than any opportunity to actually serve the people she takes a massive salary and other resources.

Everything she says about herself is self-promotion and virtue laden: strong leader, honest, generous, caring, concerned about environment, embracing other cultures. But scratch the surface and we see a very different picture, one of exploitation and self-promotion. She even exploits her own child.

* Strong leader: No, she’s indecisive and just kicks the can down the road. She causes uncertainty which leads to loss of business confidence.
* Honest: No, the lies trip off her tongue so fast we can’t count them.
* Generous: Well, sure, with other peoples money and resources – not hers. She is using taxpayer funds for self promotion and setting up her mates.
* Caring: Certainly not for Taranaki. Certainly not for her baby who she uses as a fashion accessory to draw attention to herself. Certainly not for the taxpayer. Certainly not the refugees to whom she gives false hope and exploited for photo ops. Nor the homeless who see potential housing being diverted towards refugee centres.
* Environmental: Generating over 100 tonnes of CO2 (more than the average driver will emit in a lifetime) to fly to Nauru for one day of photo ops, a trip she was not needed on since the Foreign Minister already had it covered, is never going to be congruent with environmentalism. Nor is she and her current boyfriends’ jet-setting lifestyle.
* Multi-cultural: During Maori Language Week she says how much she wishes she could speak Maori. Hundreds of people learn Maori on their own time. She could have too if this was really such a strong wish. An hour a week over the last ten years and she’d be almost fluent – if she bothered.

The reality does not mesh with the delusional self-portrayal.

Her trip to USA and UN was done on the taxpayer tit. These trips are supposed to be of benefit to NZ. However what we see is a massive self promotion exercise instead. She slagged off Trump at every opportunity. This is not diplomacy. This does not help build international relations or trade or any other positive outcomes.

Her trip might have scored her points with the media bubble heads, but most Americans are not like them. Trump is their president and nobody likes to see their president slagged off by foreigners.

But keep digging PriNZess. Keep making it worse. There are still a few people out there who are still victim of the Jadazzle. With a bit more effort you can inoculate a generation against Labour.

Otaki lawyer *Quentin Stobart Haines*, 42, appeared in the Palmerston North District Court where he pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old girl at his home….and paying $50 to another underage girl to perform oral sex on him in his car.

During sentencing, Judge Lance Rowe allowed Haines numerous discounts on his sentence, “…for his remorse, his efforts to rehabilitate, his contribution to society, and guilty pleas.” He then sentenced him to *6 months Home Detention* – and to pay $500 reparation to both his victims.

Well butter-my-butt and call me a muffin….anyone else would probably have been looking down the barrel of at least 4 years inside. Go figure!!

  A few years ago I met a guy in Wellington. A friend of a friend. He seemed a bit sleazy. Anyway he went back States and got caught in a police sting soliciting young teens. As the cops closed in he pulled out a gun and killed himself.

Early this morning I had a dream !
There was Queen Street bedecked with bunting to celebrate the return from New York of our Princesses (both of them).
The Parade was led by a band playing from Aida – the March of the Hebrew Slaves – yes – thousands of invited people like us.
Next of the Marchers were singing from the “See the Conquering Hero Comes” by Handel from Judas Maccabeus.
Then as excitement grows the full entourage of the Labour led Coalition marching, Peters in a wheelchair, if they knew how, to the final Chorus of Aida. Sorry no Elephants as Health regulations would not allow.
Finally with our real hero on her throne receiving the obeisance of the proletariat. – Comrades.
Of course a licence had been obtained by the Duck in Wellington to be allowed to take photos of the wonder Princesses.

Marama Davidson is the perfect example of the flakey financial outlook this useless COL have. Davidson, co-leader of the Greens appeared on the TV3 AM show this morning demanding benefits are raised by 20% but could not provide any facts or figures to back up the Greens policy. What would be the resulting social implications? Duncan repeatedly asked her how much the policy would cost the taxpayer but the Greens have not worked out the cost. Their approach is to decide on a policy dream and implement it.
One questions what the taxpayers are paying to support the flakey Greens and all their support workers in parliament for if they are not doing the required research and work. Just what are we paying them to do all day?

One of the major problems we have in New Zealand is the decline of the heterosexual married relationships bringing forth many children that are the backbone of our country. Simply put women, especially white women, have stopped having children. New Zealand will be out of business in a few generations unless the trend is reversed.

    I think there’s a difference between bike clips and pedal clips. Bike clips keep your trouser cuffs away from the chain, but pedal clips are used by the lycra brigade to clip your feet into the pedals so they can’t slip off. This means that you can’t stop the bike without falling off so at a red light (if you choose to stop) you have to lean on a car.

Linux development has always been a fierce meritocracy. That’s brutal if you’re useless, but is a very good way of ensuring only the best participate.

There have always been ways for less skilled people to participate, such as Kernelnewbies etc.

Before, Linux’ code of conduct, if you could call it that, was centred around technical stuff: coding style, code quality and the licensing issues.

This has lead to an OS which is used in everything from Android phones, routers, printers, servers, …

Now the SJWs have taken over, what next? Nope, we won’t accept your code patch because you have not made a statement on LGBTQZR and you might be transphobic. Sorry, no more patches accepted from boring white men this cycle – just patches from trannies and Muslims.

I thought my industry was rational and immune to SJWs. Now? Not so sure any more!

The neat thing though is that Linux is completely GPL2 (if you ignore the Linux exceptions) so there is nothing stopping anyone just forking Linux and calling it Meritux. That might end up being the saving grace.

  Tax:
  remove ALL levies from goods and services
  (Still charge for “services performed by the govt. port fees, DoC fees, inspection fees etc)
  eg only tax/levies on petrol…GST
  Lower top tax rate to 30% over 2 yrs
  Tax on less than min wage (ie part time)….ZERO
  Tax on Min wage to average wage 12%
  Average wage to top bracket 20%
  Company tax down from 28% to 22% over 2 yrs.
  ACC, charged on ALL leisure pursuits. (including kiddies soccer).
  ACC “no fault system” scrapped. eg rego goes up if your driving performance warrants it. Down to a minimum too, if warranted. (watch the road toll come down now) as an asside, if you lose your license for 6 months + you must resit the test at YOUR expense.. etc etc
  Outgoings.
  Reduce WFF to only those on minimum wage and less get the full credit, sliding scale up to average wage…then nothing.
  No dole for children (under 18) (spend that money on retirement funds.
  Emergency allowances ONLY for EXTREME hardship…..must prove it.
  No fathers name…..no allowance.
  Fathers FORCED to pay for their kids.
  Mothers and children protected from te violent fathers.
  No more translating Govt. documents into every language, only sign language, English and Maori.
  Same in the courts, immigration requirement, refugee requirement etc
  If you need a translator, you pay for it.
  Get the philosophy?
  Do for YOURSELF, unless you actually can’t due to physical or mental disability.

He has been telling us all for 10 years now that the crash is imminent, just look at what he has actually lost in selling his Akl house, I appreciate the house he bought will have gone up in value, but boy oh boy he missed out big time in 10yrs of Akl housing price boom! no wonder he lost all that weight probably his wife stopped talking/cooking for him as she knows how much money they have all lost due to his WRONG assumptions of a crash 🙂

It is said that all nations are governed by a clique of folks representing a D- level of competence.
But I never thought that applied to the US of A until I watched the entire (yes, every bit) Kavanaugh / SCOTUS nonsense this past week.
To paraphrase (and really abuse) W S Churchill: “Never in the history [of the US] have so few demonstrated their inability to
repay and lead those who have given them the opportunity to achieve so much.”
Flake, Feinstein, Blumenthal, Coons, Hirono, Durbin, Harris, Whitehouse, Booker et al are a disgrace to the USA as a nation.
I recall very well reading about Bork and Thomas as in Time many years ago. I thought that Time, at that time, was credible, and the process horrible.
But this latest episode….. well, in respect of the bunch of “Senators” mentioned above, I say (as did Cromwell and Avery): “You have sat here too long for any good that you are doing. Depart I say, and let’s have done with you. In the name of God, go!”

Arising, in my view – Kavanaugh 10/10; Ford (for mistaken belief) 5/10. Senate proceedings???minus 10 !!!

  Flipper – it’s not competence, it’s malevolence. The Democrats are unilaterally sabotaging the Supreme Court justice nomination process because they do not want Donald Trump to have any more Supreme Court nominations to make it to the Supreme Court.
  
  And because the nominated judge is eminently qualified they are going after his character by slandering him with accusers who are woefully short of facts.
  
  Fortunately the American people are starting to become wise to the Democrat/leftist playbook. And they see this is a charade. Democrats will not approve any nomination that Donald Trump brings for the Supreme Court.
  
  This is because the Supreme Court is the premier vehicle that Democrats use to overturn western Christian civilisation and bring in their own agenda of secularism, abortion and homosexuality. At its heart it is a religious struggle, a clash of worldviews at a religious level.
  
  Fortunately the good guys will probably win this round anyway. I would imagine that Justice Kavanaugh will be seated on the Supreme Court fairly shortly.

Presidents, I can understand – they have great influence on international affairs that do affect NZers. But, as far as I can tell, the Supreme Court’s decisions largely focus on US domestic matters (e.g., abortion).

    SGA I think many of us have realised that whether we like it or not where the USA goes we follow, if the Dems are allowed to win this one then I do think long term we can kiss western civilisation goodbye. By long term I do not think in either my or my child’s lifetime but it will happen if the rule of law is allowed to be trod on.
    For everyone’s screaming about Trump it is his opposition who are actually treading on the rule of law all the while pointing at what POTUS MAY (but has shown no signs of doing so yet) happen.
    To those on the left I ask you top listen to the Revolutions podcasts on the American and French revolutions to see what is at stake.

      SGA – well the thing is some beliefs will dominate our society. At the moment that belief is the religion of secular humanism. I think secular humanism is terrible. So I want Christianity to be the religion and the beliefs of this nation.
      
      However, and this is where Christianity is very different from secular humanism, its cousin Marxism and its current bed fellow Islam, you cannot make someone become a Christian. You cannot force people to accept Christianity. Christianity at its core is a voluntary repentance of our past life and a radical renewal to a new life as a follower of Jesus.
      
      So this means that I will push for Christian principles at every turn. But we cannot impose them by force. Because we realise you cannot make somebody love God.
      
      But thank you for the warning about acts of violence. I take your warning to heart and will report to the local police station immediately and surrender my cachet of bombs and assault rifles.

      I’m not sure that you do, Scott, to be honest. You want the state to selectively promote Christianity, and Christianity only, in its schools. That to me isn’t someone who supports freedom of religion and worship.
      
      You see NZ as a Christian country – fine. But nowadays less than half the population calls itself Christian, and that group includes all the vaguely Christian groups (such as the Mormons), and those that tick that box on the census even though they don’t actively take part in any Christian practices and begrudgingly go to church only for wedding and funerals.
      
      I’m non-religious, but happy to acknowledge that Christianity forms part of the heritage of Western culture. I try to show some consideration and tolerance toward your YEC beliefs – provided you respect that you can’t force those beliefs on the rest of society. You can oppose abortion, say, but not commit acts of violence to further those aims. I feel the same about other religions.

    You miss the point. It is the implications of the dress code for women.
    
    Example. A friend of mine volunteers with refugees. She told me that she is teaching a 10 year old Syrian girl to swim. She is in a rush because as soon as the girl reaches puberty it is nihab time and no more trips to the swimming pool.
    
    So a simple question for prospective immigrants. “Are you going to cover up your teen daughters and prevent them being seen by men? ” if yes then don’t come
    
    It is not about a dress code. It is about freedom.

  His attack on Simon would have boosted Simon’s confidence.

I listened to Simon Bridges on RNZ this morning. I thought he did ok, but he falls into the trapps set by Susie and Guyon and he goes off script. This morning he said that Arden was like Trump. That was the cue for Susie to take him off script and further question him about how dare he compare her to that man. It’s ok to say no Simon. Bridges needs to be more aware of the traps and to be firmer with the interviewers.

    Speaking of ignorance, you don’t seem to realise that the quoted figures of “384,000 families are now better off by $65 a week” refers to increases in the Working for Families tax credits. It has nothing to do with benefit programs.
    
    Can a tax credit be said to cost us anything? That’s a very interesting question given that it’s simply a refund of the taxes that those families have already paid.

        If we take the above figures as true then the average family is receiving an extra tax credit of $65 a week or $3,380 per year.
        
        Have their expenses risen by $3,380 per year? That seems impossible to believe given that our CPI for the year ending June 2018 was only 1.5%
        
        To put these numbers in perspective, $3,380 represents the CPI increase for over $225,000 worth of consumer spending. It’s pretty clear that the average family is actually doing better under a Labour government.

I know a number of people down there and they are retired farmers.

I would have thought Kiwi Build would be better suited for smaller towns as an incentive for people to move there.

A 2015 study in the journal Science found that of the estimated 4.8 to 12.7 million metric tons of plastic that entered the ocean from 192 of the world’s coastal countries, as little as 0.9 percent of it came from the United States.
    
    A more recent study, from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, found that 90 percent of plastic polluting the world’s oceans comes from ten rivers, eight of which are in Asia; two are in Africa. Yesterday Stuff published an article on Daylight Saving Time:

Which generated 164 comments before comments were closed by the time I viewed them around midday.

One of the ironies of Stuff’s inconsistent commenting policy where they just arbitrarily shut down comments a few hours after the article goes up is that most comments could be made by those who more easily get up early & are less affected by the time change.

Then there is this doozy by the author:

I vote for year-round summer hours: for the parents, the animals and the children.

I can’t imagine anything worse. By April we get very cold mornings & the evenings are still hot. It’s a relief when DS goes away but it happens too late.

All the tinkering with DS making it longer and longer to my mind is the problem. It wasn’t such a big deal when it started on Labour Day and ended mid-March. Now it’s just painful.

But permanent summertime?? Seriously? It’s almost as if people believe changing the clocks gives us more daylight and warmer weather!

However, sometimes the busy threads are shut down very quickly while as quieter and/or less controversial ones are left up.   I spent a year in hospital when I was three, almost seventy years ago.
  I have vague memories of some traumatic things that happened back then.
  Apart from that you could try reading a few autobiographies/biographies. People have no problem whatsoever recalling in vivid detail salient episodes in their lives that can be confirmed by witnesses.

But there are hundreds of events that I only have vague memories of, and often when discussing events with people who were there, the details are often vague and sometimes contradictory. There are others that are only remembered when I see photographs… Psychologists argue that each time we recall a memory we actually alter it. Our memories are very fallible….. I find it hypocritical of this govt. to talk about “caring” when they are cutting HEALTH services, due to a lack of funds and not clinical need.

Here’s a great story from the “You could not make this shit up” files. On the Jim Mora programme today there were a maori man (didn’t catch his name) and Nadine Higgins. Judge Becroft was on the line talking about the poor misunderstood maori and why they feature so highly in all the wrong statistics. The maori man and Nadine, predictably from a pair of lefties, tut tutted and said it was all down to colonisation. BUT then Higgins starts spouting off about this amazing young refugee man she met who came to NZ, learnt English in a year, topped his class, succeeded to the highest level started a business etc, etc. Did she not see the irony in her remarks? If a refugee, who by all accounts went through some incredibly difficult times, can succeed, why make excuses for maori who have been given every opportunity? There are no excuses and making excuses up for them is simply enabling them. They just need to get off their backsides and work.

  Suspicion is subjective- does the officer have one- and reasonable is objective- was it one based on objectively reasonable grounds. It’s a test which applies all the time in different contexts

      The objective test is basically what a reasonable person knowing all the facts would consider to be reasonable, rather than what the individual themselves thought. Needless to say, in determining objective reasonableness, there needs to be a subjective assessment by any trier of fact, but the difference in this case is not whether the individual officer had the suspicion, but whether a reasonable person would have had that suspicion. As we see on Kiwiblog regularly, there are many people who have suspicions that are not what we would call reasonable. But we would expect our law enforcement officers not just to be suspicious, but to hold that suspicion on ground that the general public would consider reasonable. This is an important buffer against abuse of power.

        Immigration officers do abuse their power. Now they have more power.
        
        Remember the family nanny they imprisoned? Or the teenage girl they deported because they coerced her into saying she might babysit for her relatives. Not that it was even a reason to deport.
        
        If there are so many buffers against abuse then why does it happen anyway?

Neo-apartheid, this time favouring Maori, to run rampant in NZ universities?

Maori plans are advanced to take over Massey University, and Don Brash, one of the few politicians game to have an opinion on this, has expressed his concern.

On Stuff the plans are outlined as including:

1. Setting up a Treaty charter to guide the university, to be in place by March. Staff workshops were held this month to discuss how the charter can be implemented and monitored.

2. Building “Maori research capacity” through a recruitment and investment programme.

3. Developing a Maori student parity policy “as part of Massey’s commitment to indigenous knowledge development and leadership”.

4. Engaging with Maori communities.

5. Putting a framework in place by the middle of 2019 to monitor and recognise all staff who demonstrate Maori cultural capabilities.

Stuff reports that Professor Huia Jahnke, on behalf of the university’s Maori academic staff, said Massey University would be the first institute of its kind in New Zealand and other “colonised, Western nations” to adopt indigenous perspectives into its framework.

Where does National stand on this? When will the Australian vet. be fired – the vet. who let Maori activists take over Massey University?

  If Jahnke says this will be the first university in a “colonised, Western nation” to adopt indigenous perspectives, what is going on with three wananga – the special Maori tertiary institutions?
  
  Can a Western university still be a university if it’s based on – let’s be honest – what was until recently a Stone Age culture.
  
  We need a debate on whether indigenous culture, right down to mysticism and shamanism, are compatible with Western traditions of science, learning, and academia – with modern world knowledge.
  
  Perhaps Jahnke and her fellow Maori culture academics belong in wananga.

Aussies planning to get home mortgages are warned: “… a new report warns the amount home buyers can borrow could be slashed by a third if banks are forced to tighten their lending standards after the royal commission.”

Australia’s Banking royal Commission is likely to recommend that banks conduct full income and expense verification to assess a borrower’s financial position, says a commentator.

He adds that the commission raised the risk of the current credit squeeze turning into a “credit crunch”.
