  Yes my post yesterday was very unpopular when I said Jami Lee Ross was responsible for his actions. But he still is responsible.
  That’s the trouble. We signal our virtue by saying its not his fault. But it is his fault.
  We need to take responsibility for our actions. And we need to understand human nature better. We are moral creatures. We know what’s right and what’s wrong. But we refuse to do it. We need help.
  That’s why we turn to God. We need help to do the right thing.
  I think my arguments are beautiful but unfortunately many will be triggered by them ?

      The Hooerald has Kyle McDonald, from Newstalk ZB’s show The Nutters club, saying a person could be sectioned if they did not have the insight to understand that they needed help.
      
      Five days were taken to assess and make decisions about treatment, McDonald said, the newspaper reports.
      
      McDonald is a psychotherapist, rather than a psychiatrist or traditional medical professional. On his web site, he describes himself also as “NZ Herald Mental Health Columnist”.
      
      When someone is “sectioned” they must have assigned to them a responsible clinician. That is, a psychiatrist or “some other registered health professional who, in the opinion of the Director of Area Mental Health Services, has undergone training in, and is competent in, the assessment, treatment, and care, of persons with mental disorder.”
      
      If McDonald fits the latter qualification, he may be speaking from practical experience.

        Don’t be silly. No ‘proof’ is needed that something ‘doesn’t exist’. All you need is a modicum of common sense and a perception of morality to realise that a god who is prepared to consign souls to an eternity of pain and torment, had his own son tortured to death and demands total obedience although he gave everybody ‘free will’ is nothing more than a perversion created in the dark depths of sick minds.
        
        There’s more of course. Virgin birth, vengeful father etc blah blah. It goes on.

      In politics from the age of 18, there is seriously something wrong there. Get some perspective doing some good honest work.
      
      There should be a rule in the National party, do something else first. Become outstanding in another field. We want the great and the good and not the try-hards.

One thing I do find amusing though is how many atheists have a favourite Bible verse that they use to denigrate Christians, or justify their lack of a personal faith 😀

      The Catholic priests – reporting I have seen is that it’s not so much a paedophile problem as it is a homosexual problem.
      The victims are all boys, young teenage males. So the problem could be lots of homosexuals coming into the priesthood?
      
      Having said that we can agree it’s appalling and the Catholic Church needs to do whatever it takes to stamp it out.

        If you are a young man and your own sexuality scares you possibly for very good reason, then becoming a priest is attractive. Trouble is you can’t escape from yourself and you end up with a bunch of pervert priests with sexual hangups. If the Catholic church got rid of celibacy for priests this problem would go away.

        There are multiple instances of abuse of young children, male and female, teenage girls and vulnerable women by the Catholic Clergy.

        Hmmm, would it, though? There are plenty of other offenders such as married pastors, teachers, scout masters, sports coaches etc where being married or having a partner does not seem to make a difference. And according to stats, Catholic priests do not offend at higher rates than any of the other professions.
        
        I reckon if someone has a tendency to this than they’ll probably end up offending, married or not…

        I am aware of the date. The stats are still correct. The only reason that the Catholic church is singled out is because it is the Catholic church. You may find it hard to believe but its true. There are just as many offenders in any other area of life, secular or religious.
        
        According to the reporting of Carol Shakeshaft, “… the physical sexual abuse of students in [public] schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by [Catholic] priests.”[4]
        
        But you don’t hear much about that, ey? Although we’re starting to hear more and more about teachers (mostly female) taking advantage of students.

        The scandal was about to build up steam – yes. But the offending was mostly carried out between the 1970s and the 1990s. The charges are, to a large extent, historical. Even the latest news stories are about historical charges, not anything recent. The Catholic Church put measures in place after the scandal erupted in the late 1990s – early 2000s.         What I am getting at is these churchy people can’t take responsibility for their actions or those of their peer group and create a mythical ‘devil’ to lay the blame on while doing nothing about fixing the pedo problem among them.

        They don’t address the past and they won’t fix things at this juncture so clearly are happy for the paedophilia to continue.
        
        Where there is evil (convenient side shuffle to devil, just add ‘D’) face it, front foot it, and channel resources to smash it.
        How difficult is that concept.
        For the doolans its is within their own premises.
        They can address it but don’t.
        They just shuttle the offenders around often between countries. Totally gutless.
        It is not like they are facing the Russian Army or the Wehrmacht.
        It is generally a couple of nancy boys among their own ranks.
        
        In addition, the Catholic church recruits young fellas who have to take a solemn vow at about 20-23 years old to never ever sleep with a woman. Poverty chastity and obedience.
        So, straight away you have skewed the pitch by getting males in their 20s that take an oath to not chase women. It seems perversions are OK however.
        You kind of have to expect problems from there on in.
        
        There was a doco on TV in NZ in 2004 where the guy interviewed was ex Catholic priest and had worked in a role where in one US State he had a $7 million budget to pay out silence money. Just one US State. In one year.
        There goes your collection plate $$$.
        
        Yes I despise what this Catholic church does. Or any institution that draws a blind eye to perversion and abuse of other, generally innocent, human beings.

        Captain Cook named Hawke’s Bay/ Hawkes Bay (Cook spelled it both ways) after the First Lord of the Admiralty (the Royal Navy’s political head), who had been a full-on fighting seafarer.
        
        Admiral of the Fleet Edward Hawke (1705 – 1781) as captain of HMS Berwick took part in the Battle of Toulon in 1744 during the War of the Austrian Succession.
        
        He captured six ships of a French squadron in the Bay of Biscay in the second Battle of Cape Finisterre in 1747.
        
        Hawke the beat a French fleet at the Battle of Quiberon Bay in 1759 during the Seven Years War, preventing French invasion of Britain. He created the first Western Squadron, blockading the French coast throughout the war.
        
        Hawke was First Lord of the Admiralty between 1766 and 1771. In this post, says WikiTree, he brought the Royal Navy’s spending under control and oversaw its mobilisation during the Falklands Crisis of 1770. (This was a stand-off between Britain and Spain over the islands.)

        @Jack5, the reason for the spelling difference is that the sea bay is Hawke or Hawke’s Bay, the region is Hawkes Bay.
        @Captain Mainwarinh, I guess the reason for using the is because the name is linked with a geographic feature, as with The Bay of Plenty.
        Probably needs the apostrophe in Hawke’s though.

Not only that but strongly wedged undies because it was them who had to inform Ross’s wife? Having helped as a two handed ventriloquist duo leading this guy to this extreme his guilt is only trumped by his hatred of National as he aims the blame on Bridges and Bennett.         A few weeks ago the teachers announced another strike for November, this was during the school holidays. I said to everyone at my residence, “Why don’t they strike tomorrow?” They weren’t working at that time.

    The Wellington strike seems illegal, but the union has probably dressed up some grievances to make it ‘legal’. The fundamental issue is Paul Snelgrove’s Tranzurban bus operation refuses to negotiate with the union (the Masterton based Tranzit is non-union).
    So the union is calling on the NZ Bus (the company that lost routes to Tranzurban) drivers to go on strike to try and force the Regional Council’s and Tranzurban’s hands. That is not a lawful reason to strike.
    So NZ Bus and the passengers on its routes are being required to suffer for issues not of NZ Bus’s making.

      Wellington bus strikes. According to Metlink, it is only Tranzurban drivers going on strike tomorrow, and then only those who are members of the Tramways Union. Looks like NZBus routes are not included.
      
      Metlink lists the routes affected and although it is a long list a lot of routes are local or school bus.
      
      NZBus will get a decent bump in revenue.

    My teacher partner is striking today, she will not be doing any school work today and I will take her to lunch in spite of the 15% surcharge that will be imposed by statute to help ‘the workers’
    
    I suspect she will become a scab at about 5.00 and prepare some classroom work hfor Tueday and later in the week, I will have got over the surcharge by then as long as they didn’t ask for a tip when paying the lunch invoice.

It is National’s fault that Ross has been put into care.
Barely Sober this morning blames Paula Bennett for this Victims demise into doom.
Thank goodness we finally now know that Ross is the real VICTIM.
As far as I am concerned the sooner National get rid of this aberration the better.
Now that will not be easy as with all victims they do not really understand, which is why we are all sympathetic, but I do not believe this to be Ross.
He is a con man of the highest degree.
By being put into care he does not lose his job and he can still continue his vendetta from behind the walls.
The media will love this, it is almost as thought up by his friends WO, Hagar and Peters.
I feel seriously sad for those with a real mental affliction, but do not consider that Ross falls in to this category.
He is a conniving and disgusting (clever) Con Man. He has let so many people down in this process and now expects sympathy (especially from the media who will give it continual air).

  When National pins a blue rosette on someone, they are using their brand to endorse the person, like Toyota putting their badge on a car. National have given him the thumbs up and said he’s good value for money at over $200k per year.
  
  Toyota does quality control because they know it taints the whole brand if they release a dodgy car.
  
  If National want trust in their brand, then where’s their quality control?

His door was always open, he got his hands dirty at the footy clubs and kindy working bees and he sorted peoples’ problems regardless of their politics.       I am trying to look at this as a voter would and as a branding issue.
      
      If the guy in charge of Toyota was saying a Corolla is fucking useless, but hey we will still keep selling them, then that makes you worry about both how good a Corolla is and whether Toyota thinks much of their brand and their customers.
      
      I have absolutely no knowledge of Pugh’s competence, but nor has the average voter (beyond seeing she does not believe in pharmaceuticals which raises an eyebrow on her decision making abilities). Very few voters know anything about the various MPs. That’s why they join parties. The Party is a brand that endorses them. Trust Pugh because you trust the National brand.
      
      If National want to make themselves stand out as “The competent Party”, then one way they could do so is ensure that every one of their MPs has the tools needed to be good decision makers: critical thinking, an understanding of statistics and logic, an understanding of the law, etc. That could be done by giving them a test etc.
      
      You don’t pass the National “exam” you don’t get on the list and you don’t get endorsed. No Ifs, no Buts. You want to be a National MP then you better be top shelf and competent to make decisions directing the country. And you better be worth $200k a year.
      
      That would immediately boost confidence
      
      And bugger “being fair”. When someone is getting paid $200k+ a year and being put in a position of steering The Good Ship New Zealand, then the onus is on them to prove their worth and competence we don’t just give them the benefit of the doubt because of feelz.

      Strangely calendar girl if anything this has lifted Ms Pugh’s standing as a result of her reaction to what Simon Bridges said. Especially the sort of tongue in cheek comment of them “both learning from this situation.” All too often we have seen new MP’s so convinced they know it all before they really understand much at all about the new world they have entered. It also lifted her profile in the House as well as illustrating she handles the Media party much better than many when singled out. Liked her challenging the old drunk in OQT in trying to “use” her as another stick to whack SB. Level minded voters in her electorate will have seen another side of her that might lift their hopes of some solid representation for the region. It is Labour heartland where they have historically shown very little heart. It is an interesting analogy seeing hardwood trees whose hearts are the hardest still standing all along the West Coast still standing dead and leafless. Their heartwood is the first to go leaving the hollow trunk to eventually rot and fall over.

    Voters have the right to expect Parties to select quality candidates and Parties have the responsibility to do so.

        I am condemning nobody. I am just looking at this as a branding exercise. For all I know she might be extremely competent.
        
        What I am saying is that her leader has shown lack of confidence. I am supposed to trust him, as the face of National, to be portraying what the party stands for.
        
        Therefore her ability is in question until proven otherwise.
        
        Further, since National have previously said they endorse her, I must now question what that endorsement is worth. How many of the other low-listers are worth what we pay for them?
        
        If National want to be seen as the competent party, then they need to set some standards and only endorse people that meet those standards.
        
        Hence I think they should have a test. Wouldn’t it be great National guaranteed that every one of their MPs knew the difference between debt and deficit or between crown accounts and GDP or GDP and GNP.

  JLR will have been examined by a psychiatrist appointed by the Director of Area Mental Health Services and an immediate diagnosis made or released.
  The psychiatrist can order confinement and treatment. JLR is effectively now compulsorily closely held. During the first 3 months it’s almost impossible to get release without the doctors discharge. Further on Court orders for renewal of treatment orders can be sought.

      The process has nothing to do with politics or who is involved. It’s solely a call by the medicos and particularly helpful with an uncooperative patient.
      
      They can be ordered to be assessed by a local Director and they will released immediately if the Director’s concerns are not met. A bit blunt but the provision has been used for yonks and Courts have review rights over longer term compulsory treatment.

Every action by this man has been about controlling a series of events for his perceived benefit. Psychopaths/sociopaths cannot “be cured” or get better, their “condition” is hardwired within their genetic makeup. I know because my wife and I have had personal experience of a person with the same characteristics in our family.

  He was claimed to be highly manipulative and that makes problems difficult to detect. One could blame John Key, Bill English and most of Caucus since none picked up issues. Apart from a weakness in work experience (ie never having a *real* job), his background was OK, and having a Commercial Pilot’s licence which requires sustained effort and expenditure would appear a ‘plus’. He would have campaigned diligently and effectively (perhaps he might not have campaigned too hard for the Party Vote) and he would have been an effective member of the team. Then like Noddy it seemed his head swelled and lost sense of proportion until things became intolerable in his own mind. The process would have been gradual and no one saw it coming and even if someone had suspicions he would be given the benefit of the doubt. Worse still, he seemed to have been egged on by a group of ‘supporters’ who had other fish to fry and regarded him as a useful expendable idiot. So the manipulator ended up being manipulated.
  He seems to be in a similar situation to this woman in South Auckland who was told by a ‘mentor’ that she did not need to pay her rates and kept believing this until the hammer dropped and she lost her home (she did get sufficient residue that could buy a small flat in Papakura). Seems Jami was sold a similar ‘bum steer’ and the cost to him (financially and emotionally) will be far higher and more devastating than with the woman who did not pay her rates.

No interviews with media re JLR, no comments whatsoever on or off the record, express only sympathy for his emotional/ mental situation and that of his family, focus only on the issues that matter and move forward to present a united front to tackle the destructive policies of the COL.

Don’t give the JLR circus any further air even if the poor fellow does continue to lob further grenades into the public arena.

WO hints at other “goings on” I thought that sort of hounding was the problem for JLR and why he has ended up in care. Given the mental issues that WO tells everyone he has, shouldn’t he be one to back off and consider what he is doing to innocent people – the families of those he is accusing.

These will be revealed, and another court of appeal decision held to account.

This follows 2 in Arthur Thomas, one in Tamihere, 2 in Pora, and 1 in Bain, 1 in Rex Haig. There are more.

    Most criminal lawyers are hired guns whether prosecuting or defending. Jonathan Eaton has acted for George Gwaze and Rex Haig before taking on the Lundy case, so in some measure resembles Kathleen Zellner in USA, who will only represent innocent people.
    New Zealand is way behind the curve in understanding that crime is a matter for science to resolve, and letting these lawyers who float serenely to the top meddle in these matters is a judicial disaster.

    The appeal court have relied on key factual errors to uphold the jury black box process, I am sure you understand this.
    
    The statement for media:
    
    STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF MARK LUNDY
    I have spoken briefly with Mr Lundy and outlined the 395 paragraph Court of Appeal
    decision dismissing his appeal against conviction. He now has a copy of the decision.
    He is, of course, very disappointed at the outcome of the appeal. Mr Lundy has long
    argued that for whatever reason his case has become the testing grounds for novel
    science. It was the novel use of the IHC that lead to a successful appeal against
    conviction before the Privy Council back in 2013 and it was novel use of the mRNA
    evidence that was the primary focus of the 2017 appeal. The Court of Appeal has
    found that the mRNA evidence was wrongly admitted at his 2016 retrial.
    The Court of Appeal have applied the proviso. It was only after the appeal was heard
    that the Crown confirmed that it would seek to rely on the proviso if its primary
    argument as to admissibility of the mRNA evidence was rejected. In a lengthy
    decision the Court of Appeal have concluded that notwithstanding the wrongful
    admission of evidence that was so strenuously contested both before trial and at
    trial, that allowing that evidence to be considered and accepted by the jury, has not
    given rise to a substantial miscarriage of justice and did not make the trial unfair.
    That decision raises important issues and is inevitably one that Mr Lundy will ask the
    Supreme Court to review.
    In those circumstances any further comment on behalf of Mr Lundy is not
    appropriate.

So Simon and JLR have some kind of disagreement resulting in the 5 vs 15 conversation. Majicaly out of nowhere the media can put all the women together in a hit job “sexual harrasment” MeToo story when JLR presses the self destruct button.

I don’t understand how WO or Lusk was involved in that. Only Simon and the inner circle could have done that. Only Simon, had all the information. The media can only been fed information for things to happen so fast.

The most important thing here is one of JLR’s comments. “Including people making the accusations”. WO and Lusk will make sure the next move by JLR is not mania driven behavour.

There’s a hit job coming on a senior National MP. My guess is that will be fatal.

Have just chortled over Whale Oil’s ‘National’s hit job puts JLR into care’ article.
Over 850 words of ‘Lookity, I izz an importint playa’ twaddle…
Let’s dissect a few of his more laughable comments.

‘I and a good friend have been working constantly over the last few days to help Jami-Lee Ross, who was to us clearly in distress. On Saturday night things took a turn for the worse and we received a text message at 0400 that indicated he was in care and not by choice. It took until 1 pm on Sunday for us to verify that he was okay and being looked after.’
Surely someone ‘working constantly’ with Jami-Lee would have better lines of communication with him than THAT?
[And why the curious switch between time formats, WO? 0400 and 1 pm? ]

‘The National party are a piece of work. If they cared so much why was it left to me and my mate to inform JLR’s wife of his whereabouts and condition?’
It seems that JLR’s wife was the least of JLR’s concerns if his reported extra-curricular activities are anything to go by. Were they even still together?

‘I am also privy to information that indicates that on the day Ross was given leave both Simon Bridges and Paula Bennett were given permission to contact Ross’s medical advisors and were told in no uncertain circumstances where this would likely end up if they continued down this path.’
Medical advisors are like political commentators, WO. A dime a dozen. Why, I bet if I looked about, I could find a supposed National Party sympathiser who advised ‘his’ flock to vote New Zealand First at the last election ‘to keep the National Government straight and true.’

‘If you believe that then I have a bridge I can sell you.’
WO, you can’t even sell your cow meat and/or your branded memorabilia to me.

[This] ‘doesn’t pass the sniff test. What we have witnessed here is a continuation of the nasty way in which National rinses someone that is a risk to the leadership. It goes back years.’
Ooh, let me guess, back to when you and a certain family member were overlooked in favour of someone else?

  While the interests of an unwell person are important, they do not necessarily trump the public interest in government running properly. One needs only look at the political advantage being taken by the parties in power to understand that. Peters with his smarmy “burning Bridges” thing. That twat at the Standard who sullies the name of a great politician and leader by writing a pseudonymous article about how reliable and honest Mr Ross seemed compared to Mr Bridges when he was in fact suffering from a mental illness bad enough that he needs to be assessed, in the opinion of at least one medical professional, under the Mental Health Act. Who knows what the full background is. But sometimes, things have to be done which in hindsight turn out to be in error. As long as they are done for the right reasons, that is all that can be asked. And when it is my Government/Parliament that is being disrupted, I am delighted if they remember who they are there for. Not for each other. It’s not a workplace. They are there for us.         He could have ‘fessed up to leaking with probably the only penalty being a demotion of 30 or so ‘places’. He would have then had a year to redeem himself before 2020 candidates were chosen and list rankings done. Instead he chose to tough it out until something gave. Simon Bridges gave him three months leave of absence to sort himself out, but his ‘mentors’ seemed to have sorted him out their way.
        So far from being ‘hounded out’ he blew it three or more times until his fellow MP’s got sick of him.
        Like that school teacher who refused to resign when caught doing something unacceptableand was hounded out of the school into a mental hospital by a smart principal. He taught maths and science so could have easily taken the hint, found another teaching job and left quietly (both the teacher and principal are long deceased).

The hostile MSM are outraged that Simon has not only survived this so far but is now starting to look like he has some balls (at last) and has fronted up to media on the issue and continued to put himself out there at public events (which can always run off script when involving the public) from field days to Diwali celebrations. He’s also now looks justified in his actions on the issue and Jamie Lee Ross has failed to back up any of his claims while the real truth about Jamie has been exposed and JLR now clearly a complete liar. I expect to see many more MSM attacks on Bridges and National as they attempt to try to take him down. Their next lines of attack will be the release of new poll results (as if poll results matter 2 years away from an election) and/or claims Bridges-National have bullied JLR over his mental illness. Sigh. They are so bloody predictable and will continue to fail.
As for Jamie Lee Ross: faking madness is the last refuge of the scoundrel. Just ask Whaleoil’s former insurer.

Listened for 30 minutes to Radio ZB last evening, 6:30 – 7:00pm, during a discussion on sport by two hosts, a man and a woman. I was a little shocked by some of the comments of the male that included:
1. He used the high-brow term “quintessential” (or “quintessentially”) 5 times. What a nob to have on a so-called sports programme!
2. He referred to Colin Meads as “Mead”.
3. He acknowledged that he didn’t know of Yvette Williams, one of NZ’s greatest sports achievers.

Where do they find such people to entertain and enlighten us? (Admittedly, I was entertained.)

I learnt a new word this week “heteronormative”. I saw it used in a comments sections so attach an article that popped up when I googled the word.
This related to the BBC in the UK which is apparently taking to steps to remove it heteronormative culture by measures such as getting straight staff to wear badges saying they support LGBT rights.
The Coalition Government will be all ears on this and will fit in well with the Government’s “Kindness” guidelines.

      Firstly I sincerely hope JLR gets help and is able to restore his life to a semblance of normality, he is still a young man with his life ahead of him.
      JLR pursued his parliamentary career to it’s zenith, perhaps he went to far and found himself compromised, his career at a tipping point and no doubt he talked to people who essentially gave him bad advice that has backfired on him spectacularly.
      Those advisers will come from that murky world of political conspirators, men who live on the edge, men with huge ego’s and no conscience.
      Those men have exploited JLR mercisely and for that there will be a price to be paid.

  I would expect it to cost him 1%, the swing voters won’t give him their party vote if he continues on that track. As for Messr Jones , a billion dollars is a lot of largese to pave the way in the provinces, there is the odd bridge up North that needs doing up, Waitangi for instance.   Chuck JLR doesn’t know how lucky he is because in the 1950’s / 70’s a nervous / mental breakdown people got shock treatment which made them more conscious of what they had and belittled them even more. My Dad had one through working seven days a week to keep Mum and six children in school playing sport and having good healthy food on our table. In them days their was a stigma over mental health and that gave my father a inferiority complex that he never really recovered from.

    Look how quick some anonymous commenters on this blog were to persistently label me as mad, deranged, nutty, etc when they learnt my mother had suicided.
    
    She killed herself in 1963 after her W(h)anganui GP advised her to go to Porirua for treatment as there was nothing further they could do to help with her depression at Whanganui Hospital.

  Most people who loose firearms licences due to mental health have not committed offences. They are good people with a medical condition.

  He was probably warned that if he was the leaker he needed to ‘fess up or he would be blown out of the water.

Even if its $10 a week out of the benefit for life or better still hard labour in a prison camp pay it back! And no top ups or loans till its paid back!

      Then what looks like fake news: “Members of the National Party caucus are questioning why the inquiry into the leaking of Mr Bridges’ expenses to Newshub had to be held publicly. Many believe it would have been better handled internally.”
      The public actions of Speaker killing the original inquiry left no option than the internal inquiry they undertook. Lets not overlook his own inquiry that went way beyond the limitations he set on Nationals one to cover his own butt. Sorry but it was Ross who went public with a very long stand up in front of the Media party where he outlined his coming actions. His moral claims were also what upset his victims so much they wanted their story out there since his moral compass was getting so much polar influence it was useless. We are also sensing that the sectioning is seen as a soft option for him as a delaying tactic to linger longer. Fishy too that the Mental Health people have decided to chime in yet the Speaker has had no official notification of an MP being sectioned. It get even worse than that as it seems he can leave to other parts if he has continuous care for support. So now that JLR is where he needs to be, let’s talk media:

1) Can the people who have had a lot to say about Bridges’ leadership come clean about how closely they have worked with JLR?
2) Can they outline what steps they took to protect their sources over the leak, or is that duty of care only owed by the National Party leader?
3) Can they reconcile being happy to ride the scandal-train while it was heading towards the station without a driver at the controls, yet are now blaming National for being a dirty, bullying party?
4) Can they still remember how to spell MEKA and why friend-of-the-workers Labour bullying of staff is so much less noteworthy than scandal involving National, real or otherwise?
5) Can our major networks explain what steps they are taking to ensure the claims that were made during the lead-up to the recordings being released were being adaquetely checked for accuracy?

This is a period for reflection for all, so maybe rather than punditary, we should be hearing about what part pundits have played in this.

    I think that is “during” rather than “after” the Ross saga. This is good, very good, much better than I feared, but I’d rather wait for some more dust to settle before reaching conclusions
