    Yes most probably, hence my comment. Jacinda says the deportation business is ‘corrosive’. If she raises it with ScoMo, I hope she puts a flea in her ear.
    Simon Bridges says National will do the same – deport Oz offenders back to Oz and Jacinda calls Simon ‘naive’ for saying that. Perhaps she thinks ScoMo is going to get all ‘hurty’ over this – he has broader shoulders than that.

      Is he just going to deport Australian offenders, or all offenders? Is he going to align criteria with Australia’s ?
      
      There are obviously Australian citizens who are sentenced to more than 12 months imprisonment in New Zealand. But I would be surprised if there are more than 50 annually. Anyway if the New Zealand Government did that, Sco Mo would say “good on ya. fill your boots”.

Those of us living in the Wairarapa have severe water restrictions brought on by drought conditions. People can’t water their lawns and those with nice gardens cannot water their often expensive plants.

To do something about the water shortages plans have been drawn up for a dam of the Waingawa river in the Upper Plain road area. However nothing can get done because of the environmentalists who scuttle the project at every juncture.

How can we have a prosperous NZ with these people in charge? We need to store water in the province because the summers are almost always dry and hot. But we can’t do any water storage projects because of the greenies. We can’t even water our plants.

We need commonsense to come back into public life – urgently.

  We have a 36 meter bore plus 30,000 roof water storage.
  
  At our previous property, a half acre semi rural location, the first thing we did was install a bore to guarantee our own supply.

      Around here you need a consent to install a water tank over a certain size, not sure about the bore though.

  If you’re being told you’re not allowed to use water for certain things then you’d surely be entitled to a reduction in your rates.
  If it was me, I’d do what I wanted.
  I bet the council buildings aren’t restricted.
  
  I well remember being in an area where everyone had big water tanks. When the water mains were put in, we all got bills to hook up to the mains. I said no thanks, I’ll stick to my tank. The reply was ‘you’ll pay whether you connect or not’.

    As expected, the aspects of the oceans as heating/cooling reservoirs is incredibly complex. I doubt the computer models take these into proper consideration, which is why their output is so dubious.

    Yes Maggy. We are entering a new Solar Minimum and associated cooling period that may extend up to 2070. The North American grain belt has already been feeling the effects. Cooling produces droughts (because of less evaporation off the sea) which in the past have caused famines, susceptibility to pandemics, and rapid population decrease. Enjoy!

      The proof will be in the actual climate over the next 10 years. If it cools as fast as current weather how will they then explain that to the unfortunates in Taranaki and the Greens with watermelon all over their faces.     NZ is in this situation. As we know, people are waiting much too long for specialist treatment and operations.
    
    And because people trusted the public system (and jolly well paid for it with taxes), for most of us that *is* our health insurance. And many of us are now too old or sick for private insurance to be an affordable option.
    
    And again: our taxes are supposed to pay for proper healthcare, not the 2nd world system with severe rationing we now have.

Canada is disappearing. Most South Africans I meet barely hold it together talking about home. The Scands are deleting themselves. Europe is being invaded. To save our little country we need first to establish our border. Return to the local. Give power back to the commons. Deliberately reduce the size of the state. Evict the globalists. Fight for home.   Unified media attacks based on unverified comments from “in government” politicians plus, non stop positive stories on their “preferred leadership”.
  
  Never have I seen such a sustained “anti” campaign against a political opponent being run in New Zealand.
  
  For those that don’t rate Simon Bridges, how long do you think ardern would have lasted had such a campaign been waged against her. Would she have been capable of increasing her popularity if her stupidity and ignorance were being exposed?
  
  Simon Bridges has maintained the National party support and increased his popularity by almost 100% despite “dishonest” reporting, one sided analysis and sustained negativity being directed at him and his party.
  
  As far as I am concerned he has done a great job and will be rewarded for that effort in 2020.
  
  And before the fuckwits start rabbiting about his accent, my grand daughter from the same region as Simon has the same accent and I am sure many others up there do the same so before you start “regionalising” people in New Zealand, compare your own accent to others and learn to accept the message not the accent.
  
  People in glass houses shouldn’t be too picky, poverdee, jepradising, labour pardy to just point out a few. That’s not accent, that’s ignorance.

I think you will find it is the exact one that Labour are using today and look at the results no exact figures released with only the Salvation Army suggesting the the problem has doubled since Jacinda became Prime Minister.

    I agree. IMO Simon has done a great job maintaining the level of support for the National Party even after the loss of a huge amount of talent (Bill English and Steven Joyce etc.).
    The BFD web site really dislike him (or bill English for that matter) and constantly rabbit on about how Nats cannot possibly win the election with Simon as leader. They seem to believe Judith Collins s/be the leader and its just a matter of time before she is. I disagree with them. I believe Simon has a good chance in this election (especially if NZF end on 4.9% or less). If he does lose the election then I agree that then and only then, there would be a change of leader at National.

      Its amazing the stuff that comes through them Bridges nas far as I can see , is better than a 50/50 chance if NZF are out , even if NZF win a seat , they would have got 4 seats , so they are only 2 seats behind the whole COL , the way Bridges is conducting himself he will easily pull that 2 seats back , and from what I have heard about him on NZR with Kerrie discussing the future under a Nat lead government , he was crystal clear , every single answer he gave was top draw , compare that to the hapless Cindy Um Ur ay ar , then he has more chance than the BFD give him credit for , the same people said English would deliver a result of low 30s or high 20s in the last election , well how did that work , he should probably be PM now

Ardern’s lies are becoming more outrageous by the day.
In the 2015 Budget National increased Benefits by $25/week – the first increase in over 30 years.
Yesterday Ardern announced an almost $10/week Benefit increase as a result of tying benefits to the average wage increase.
“It’s more than any Government has done in decades to address child poverty,” Ardern said on Monday.
Of course the claim goes unchecked, and don’t hold your breath for one of those ‘Fact Check’ articles, but really she should not be allowed to lie so blatantly.

And what about tying tax brackets to inflation, so workers can also receive some of the Government’s largesse.

  Secondly, of course, there are all the supply chains supplying those NGOs with trucks, logicistics management, food etc.

The school “strike” about perceived climate change is about more than the weather.

In an article in Stuff today, a white girl and another with an Indian name, turn climate change into a Leftist diatribe, and even bring in race as the white girl goes on about her colour. The article blames what it calls the unholy marriage of capitalism and colonial imperialism for the “climate crisis”.

The pair write:

“The climate crisis is a result of maintaining the colonial status quo; sustaining policies and leaders who love money but not you.”

The article states that “islands are already sinking and cyclones are hitting them harder.”

As posters have a number of times pointed out on Kiwiblog, the island-nation of Tuvalu’s land mass is expanding. Aerial photographs and satellite imagery taken of Tuvalu’s nine atolls and 101 reef islands between 1971 and 2014 show Tuvalu’s area increased 2.9 per cent.

It’s a rough edition of Stuff today. There’s also a piece reproduced from RNZ’s Red Radio trying to justify taxpayers’ Treaty settlement to Chatham Islanders for the Maori massacre and slavery from the invasion five years before the Treaty was signed.

Let’ hope National and ACT can block the creation of a State media conglomerate encompassing, TV, radio, the internet and also dominating the tattered remainder of the newspaper industry.

  The article about the Moriori was particularly bad. The headline talks about ‘the Moriori myth’, then it goes on to describe in detail how they were real and their history.
  
  Sure, the once-common claim that the Moriori arrively separately and before other Maori is false. But that falsehood is mostly debunked these days, and regardless is a relatively minor detail in an otherwise quite genuine piece of history. The fact that the Moriori were attacked and largely wiped out by Maori from the mainland is completely true.
  
  One other thing – the settlement included “an agreed historical account”. Does anybody else find the notion of one version of history being enshrined in law mildly concerning? What happens if future research calls aspects of this agreed history into question?

    I think the settlement is about how the Crown did not protect the remaining Moriori on the Chathams after 1840 and before 1865. They were under an obligation to do so but ignored the situation for 25 years. The actual invasion and mass slaughter occurred in 1835 so is not covered by the Treaty.

Maori Seats: “Officials also recommend not pursuing a council desire for dedicated Māori ward seats for the 2022 election, due to the lack of legislation allowing the total number of seats to rise.” Don’t we currently have two members of the IMSB (Maori Statutory Board) given voting rights on Council?
“The council ran a range of promotional programmes in the run-up to voting, including marketing campaigns, taking vote collection boxes to public markets and transport hubs, and running more than 50 “one stop shops” where people could enrol and vote.” This was a rort. The pop up boxes weren’t made clear before the elections. And then they “popped up” in places that would bias the turnout. This needs to be made clear before the election that you can apply for a ballot box for your organisation.   Why bother? If their journo’s concentrated on publishing the whole truth instead of opinion masquerading as genuine news and filling their print media, radio and TV programs with puff pieces and political BS, they could trade their way out of financial difficulty.

  The locally owned Otago Daily Times is doing better than Stuff and NZME newspapers. It diversified into free community newspapers.
  
  For a long time, perhaps because of the local owners’ influence, it swung less to the Left than other NZ newspapers. If it stays locally owned, eventually a new generation of ODT owners will ease the veteran newspaper back where it belongs – in the Centre-Right.

New child poverty data for New Zealand shows ‘no significant change’ in material hardship.
So this is the same bill that Jacinda hoped would drawn from the ballot in Parliament before she became Leader of the Labour Party in 2017. This is the same child reduction bill now called child poverty act 2018 that Jacinda said was a travesty not to be drawn as it would fix child poverty in NZ.

Hmmmm Newshub leaving these facts out and describing Shaw as a cannabis grower doesn’t seem to be an accurate reflection of the story.

Some good news for Thailand regarding Covid-19.
The Minister of Tourism, who knows about such things, says the coming hot weather in April/May will kill the virus off.

On the other hand I was talking to my doctor today who cheerfully told me males in my age range were the most susceptible to dying from Covid-19.
He thought a vaccine would be included in next year’s flu jab.
So for most people it’s 98% recovery rate, wee kids 99% and me, Keith Richard and Trump 96%.

    For many years we’ve seen the game of “high-stakes Trick-or-Treaty poker” play out on our TV screens. Our elected Prime Ministers made annual pilgrimmages to Waitangi to be abused and disrespected – even spat on.
    
    But then, two Prime Ministers refused to play the game, and then the rules of engagement changed.
    
    Who were those visionary Prime Ministers?
    
    2016: John Key
    
    Key scrapped Waitangi Day commemorations for the first time in February [2016] after threats of riots and a “gagging order” at the lower marae, Te Tii. … In February Key attended the NRL Auckland Nines instead of Waitangi Day after refusing to “gate-crash” an event where he wasn’t welcome or allowed to speak. At the time he said Te Tii was the gateway to the Waitangi treaty grounds and he wouldn’t attend at all if he wasn’t welcome at the lower marae.
    
    2017 Bill English
    
    [Bill] English said that before he returned to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the hosts of the occasion at Te Tii Marae needed to demonstrate they could run an event “worthy of the achievements of this country with respect to the Treaty of Waitangi”. He was not “throwing away history” but making sure the day was “observed in a way which New Zealanders are proud of”. English declined an invitation to attend an event on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds this year because the organising committee told him he would not be allowed to speak.
    
    And who can forget Helen Clark’s “blub blub” moment when she was humiliated during what was suppossed to be a Waitangi Day celebration?

I see Mr Trump struggling with some Indian names. My wife can sympathize.
We had a Tamil friend in Thailand called Swami except that Thais struggle with the ‘w’ pronunciation and compromised by calling him Salami.

The lawyer fighting Air New Zealand banning her from flying Air New Zealand…

I am not an Air New Zealand fan. Have my
personal problems with them and won’t use them if possible, BUT this women has me cheering for Air New Zealand. She has obviously irritated Air New Zealand employees to the point that Air New Zealand is happy to get rid of her.

Wish that more companies had the guts to stand up for their employees and tell abusive customers to get lost.

So glad this was highlighted by the New Zealand Press. Now it’s probably nothing, but then so was White Island….

Of course it could be that the silica rich magmas are being affected by increased interaction by muons because of the GSM, but thats the realm of sceptical science and we can’t promote that. Much better to keep quiet and then make money out of the ensuing disaster porn…
