Yesterday, I stumbled across the following item (at the blogsite, ‘Balkinization’).

In Richard Nixon’s first book, Six Crises (1962), which he wrote in response to John F. Kennedy’s 1956 book, Profiles in Courage, he discusses the 1960 presidential campaign and the allegations of voter fraud by Democrats.

He then explains why he decided not to demand a recount (on page 413). This is what he says—

“If I were to demand a recount, the organization of the new Administration and the orderly transfer of responsibility from the old to the new might be delayed for months. The situation within the entire Federal Government would be chaotic. Those in the old Administration would not know how to act–or with what clear powers and responsibilities–and those being appointed by [John F.] Kennedy to positions in the new Administration would have the same difficulty making any plans.

“Then too, the bitterness that would be engendered by such a maneuver on my part would, in my opinion, have done incalculable and lasting damage throughout the country. And finally, I could think of no worse example for nations abroad, who for the first time were trying to put free electoral procedures into effect, than that of the United States wrangling over the results of our presidential election, and even suggesting that the presidency itself could be stolen by thievery at the ballot box. It is difficult enough to get defeated candidates in some of the newly independent countries to abide by the verdict of the electorate. If we could not continue to set a good example in this respect in the United States, I could see that there would be open-season for shooting at the validity of free elections throughout the world.

“Consequently, I made the decision not to support the contest and recount charges. I know that this greatly disappointed many of my best friends and most ardent supporters–but I could see for myself no other responsible course of action.”

Now isn’t that interesting?

        SCS very few FARMERS voted for Labour, but the Rural SHEEPLE certainly did, terrified of a repeat of the ‘Rogernomics effect” if the Greens were reinstated as a coalition with the F & C wrapper PM. These sheeple remember the economic devastation to the Rural sector of the Lange Labour govt.       To be fair why not add to your list the mess the Nats created at the time for themselves, on that performance alone the election was lost and was possibly so as early as March when the Nats on the Covid Committee started cross-examinations (or inquisitions) of witnesses it called. Later not being able to display having a handle on economic forecasts meant they were in fact putting the icing on the Government’s cake. A comedienne that needed to tell her audience that she was joking when she lifted an eyebrow lit the candles for defeat. Talofa bro.

  What began as a “forlorn hope” to pick up a few more electoral votes for Vice President Nixon is now a full-scale Republican operation. The decision to make it so, it can be reliably reported, was made by President Eisenhower, who is in a table-thumping mood about what he believes to be the theft of the election from Vice President Nixon.
  
  As a result, word has gone out from the White House to Attorney General William P. Rogers to get off his above-the-battle pedestal and to do everything federal law allows in order to get an undisputed count in Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Nevada, and New Jersey. He has also told Republican National Committee Chairman Thurston B. Morton to put the weight of his resources behind state GOP groups battling for a recount. . .
  
  Four precincts in Chicago, for example, with some 1,200 qualified voters, cast over 2,000 votes on November 8. Yet the tallies from these precincts are included as legitimate in the official city canvas. Chicago newspaper estimate as many as 100,000 votes were stolen in Cook County.
  
  In Texas, one interesting statistic indicates what a careful investigation of the election might produce. Vice President Nixon ran 40,000 votes ahead of Mr. Kennedy in districts using voting machines. In districts that continue to use paper ballots only—easily destroyed or declared invalid—Mr. Kennedy ran 85,000 votes ahead of Mr. Nixon.

    Regarding Chicago / Cook County, this extract is worth noting—
    
    “Schlesinger and others have pointed out that, even if Nixon had carried Illinois, the state would not have given him victory, as Kennedy would still have won 276 electoral votes to Nixon’s 246. More to the point, Illinois was the site of the most extensive challenge process, which fell short despite repeated efforts spearheaded by Cook County state’s attorney, Benjamin Adamowski, a Republican, who also lost his reelection bid. Despite demonstrating net errors favoring both Nixon and Adamowski (some precincts—40% in Nixon’s case—showed errors favoring them, a factor suggesting error, rather than fraud), the totals found fell short of reversing the results for the candidates. While a Daley-connected circuit judge, Thomas Kluczynski (later appointed a federal judge by Kennedy, at Daley’s recommendation), threw out a federal lawsuit ‘filed to contend’ the voting totals, the Republican-dominated State Board of Elections unanimously rejected the challenge to the results. Furthermore, there were signs of possible irregularities in downstate areas controlled by Republicans, which Democrats never seriously pressed, since the Republican challenges went nowhere. More than a month after the election, the Republican National Committee abandoned its Illinois voter fraud claims.
    
    “An academic study in 1985 later analyzed the ballots of two disputed precincts in Chicago which were subject to a recount. It found that while there was a pattern of miscounting votes to the advantage of Democratic candidates, Richard Nixon suffered less from this than Republicans in other races, and furthermore the extrapolated error would only have reduced his Illinois margin from 8,858 votes (the final official total) to just under 8,000. It concluded there was insufficient evidence that he had been cheated out of winning Illinois.”
    
    The point is, Nixon was able to recognise when it was “over”. Trump can’t, or won’t.

        Yes, I’ve noticed, Mike, he has linked to his own posts at ‘No Minister’ a few times, which is very poor form. In fact, I think I recall one of the Moderators giving him a serve for it, a while ago.
        
        On this occasion, I think it was a genuine response to my post, but I still feel that he, along with KevO’Brien and Andrei, deliberately overlooked my concluding comment, “Now isn’t that interesting?” and that I was clearly contrasting Nixon’s attitude with Trump’s, to make their own points.

  He couldn’t have written a truer word or known that he was correctly predicting the aftermath of a future American election.
  So what happens now to the Republicans? Do they stifle the rot and forgo the rabble vote by drawing a line in the sand and give confidence back to their own voters and middle America or persevere?

  Heres the thing that gets me,
  
  Surely all political appointees ( NZ included) should pass a ” Fit and proper Person” requirement.
  
  How to do this would be super simple.
  A physcometric test and made Public, ( There are Public appointed), Then let voters decide.
  
  I have to do one, Why not Political appointees ?
  Great thing about these is not finding out your strengths but too be aware of your weaknesses and then given tools to combat this or be made aware of them.
  Why not all politicians then move to city councils etc.
  Too my mind its very simple and will stop certain personality types from entering in the first place and create a system from bottom up approach to ensure the right candidate gets in and moves up the chain.

Also at Balkinization, I came across a very interesting article that explains how Trump’s “campaign of misinformation about electoral fraud is squarely an attack on the integrity of Black voters and of jurisdictions with Black leadership, […].”

It states that the Trump campaign’s “rhetoric of misinformation [is a discourse] situated in victimhood.” For example, “Trump claims he is a victim of electoral fraud [and the] subtexts of the lawsuits targeting majority-minority counties is that white voters are victims of Black corruption.”

Some years in the USA, spent in Democrat political machine cities, will edify you far better than anything I can say. It is possible to frame almost anything in the context of racism, colonialism, intersectional whatever. It does not mean that this interpretation is correct. Democrat corruption lives in the large cities.

Trump gained more black votes than any Republican candidate in history. His Platinum plan was the largest direct investment in struggling black communities in history. The overwhelming majority of allegations of large-scale electoral fraud took place in Democrat-machine dominated cities or by the centralised party apparatus in state capitols that chose Dominion/etc., machines to manipulate the vote.

All of this is utterly political, i.e., the economics of power, rather than an expression of one man’s attempt to use racism to contest an election.

And it is interesting indeed to see that exactly none of the assertions of fact surrounding assertions of fraud have been disproven or even meaningfully responded to. Court losses have been based on ‘standing’ rather than the merits of the cases.

The coming days will be amazing.

  Whoever ends up in the White House next month, there does need to be a serious look at voting ‘irregularities’ and processes. If only because millions of voters of all stripes think there are issues.
  
  To sweep possible issues under the carpet is not going to cut it.
  
  Though what happens if enough proven issues are found to change the result? That carpet won’t be big enough.

      Maybe the vote issues are just wishful thinking. Surely best to present the evidence for and against to one or more courts for hearing, cross examination and judgement. If the determination is ‘nothing to see here’ and people see they have been properly heard then the heat will pretty much go away.

The last comparable period of cooling due to reduced solar activity was the Maunder Minimum from 1645-1710 during the Little Ice Age which was characterized by cold summers, long frigid winters and rivers such as the Thames regularly freezing over. It is expected that terrestrial temperatures will decline by about 1 to 1.5 degrees C as in the Maunder Minimum.

Man made climate change cultists of course assert that global warming will more than offset the cooling effects of the Minimum. Sitting here at my computer in my thermals (changed daily) for the third summer’s day running I somehow don’t think they’re winning. But we shall see. Will the alleged effects of tiny increases in the trace gas CO2 (0.041% of the atmosphere) prevail over a considerable reduction in the Sun’s irradiance? I call bullshit on that.

Memo to Cindy: your “nuclear free moment” is in the fridge.

    After a warm start to summer, temperatures have plummeted in Christchurch. 4 degrees this morning with the situation forecast to only improve slowly followed by wet and windy weather over New Year.
    
    I know this gets debated occasionally but New Zealanders would be better off having a short Christmas break followed by a longer break in February. The change could be initiated by changing the long school holidays to begin in the last week of January.
    
    Ever since I have been in New Zealand the weather between Christmas and early January seems to often turn cold and wet in some parts of the country. Only 10 days ago it was 30 degrees in Christchurch.
    
    As for climate change no amount of science will cause the activists to change course. Imagine Jacinda saying “oops sorry stand down there is no climate crisis. Enjoy your Ford Ranger.”
    
    That is because Jacinda neither understands or cares about climate change. If she did, she would help Poland and Belarus reduce their emissions. For the same cost that would be 100 times more effective than the ridiculous and futile attempt to reduce New Zealand emissions.
    
    No, for Jacinda and cheered on by the Greens this is an opportunity to impose control and take away freedom. I think it is a good thing that a person in New Zealand on a low income can buy a perfectly adequate car for 6,000 dollars and enjoy transport independence. Make no mistake the Government is going to end that.

      Yes, what’s your point? Take into account 1. The faint Sun (the Sun brightens by about 1% every 100 million years) 2. Earth’s albedo and 3. atmospheric GHG concentrations and what the Earths (stable) temperature will be can be accurately calculated.

      Yes, if the oceans are warmer CO2 solubility is lower, so if they warm they release CO2, which results in a positive feedback, but not a run-away feed-back. The 100,000 year long glacial – interglacial cycle and how changes in insolation as a result of Earth’s orbital cycles, changes in the Earth’s albedo as a result of changes in ice cover and the resulting climate changes interact are not a mystery to science, they are however evidently a mystery to you.
      
      Water vapour is by far the most potent “greenhouse gas”
      Yes, and as you know (if you know any climate science at all) the level of water vapour the atmosphere can support is dependent on temperature, (just as the amount of CO2 the oceans can hold is dependent on temperature) and for this reason water vapour is a feed-back, not a forcing. Because the amount of CO2 in the atmospheric is not dependent on atmospheric temperatures CO2 is a forcing GH gas, not a feed-back. So if we lift atmospheric temperatures by increasing CO2 we increase the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere – further increasing temperatures. Climate sensitivity – is a result of forcing GHG’s plus the water vapour feed-back.
      It should be noted that even though the oceans are warming they are also at this time acting as a CO2 sink, this is due to the rapid rate of atmospheric CO2 increase, resulting in the partial pressure of atmospheric CO2 being much higher than oceanic partial pressure, think of it in terms of a bottle of coke, if the cap is on with a lot of CO2 gas trapped in the bottle most of the CO2 in the liquid will stay in the liquid even if the temperature increases, pump more gas into the bottle so increasing the gas pressure, much of that added CO2 will be forced into the liquid despite the bottle being warm.
      
      although the greenhouse analogy itself is a perverse misrepresentation of reality.
      Yes, they teach you that in 5th form, an actual GH works principally by eliminating convection. So?

      Which is a complete reversal of your earlier claim that we are in a GSM that would have the same effects on climate as the Maunder Minimum. GSM’s happen from time to time, the Oort Minimum, for example, happened right in the middle of the MWP, and, if you watched the video I linked to (if you did I commend you, most people choose not to reasonably consider information that contradicts what they want to believe) you would have discovered that the LIA started long before the start of the Maunder Minimum.

        I had retired for the evening by the time your final post appeared. Here is the conclusions section from the Zharkhova editorial which I posted with my original comment. The editorial is dated June this year:
        
        “In this editorial, I have demonstrated that the recent progress with understanding a role of the solar background magnetic field in defining solar activity and with quantifying the observed magnitudes of magnetic field at different times allowed us to enable reliable long-term prediction of solar activity on a millennium timescale. This approach revealed a presence of not only 11-year solar cycles but also of grand solar cycles with duration of 350–400 years. We demonstrated that these grand cycles are formed by the interferences of two magnetic waves with close but not equal frequencies produced by the double solar dynamo action at different depths of the solar interior. These grand cycles are always separated by grand solar minima of Maunder minimum type, which regularly occurred in the past forming well-known Maunder, Wolf, Oort, Homeric, and other grand minima.
        
        During these grand solar minima, there is a significant reduction of solar magnetic field and solar irradiance, which impose the reduction of terrestrial temperatures derived for these periods from the analysis of terrestrial biomass during the past 12,000 or more years. The most recent grand solar minimum occurred during Maunder Minimum (1645–1710), which led to reduction of solar irradiance by 0.22% from the modern one and a decrease of the average terrestrial temperature by 1.0–1.5°C.
        
        This discovery of double dynamo action in the Sun brought us a timely warning about the upcoming grand solar minimum 1, when solar magnetic field and its magnetic activity will be reduced by 70%. This period has started in the Sun in 2020 and will last until 2053. During this modern grand minimum, one would expect to see a reduction of the average terrestrial temperature by up to 1.0°C, especially, during the periods of solar minima between the cycles 25–26 and 26–27, e.g. in the decade 2031–2043.
        
        The reduction of a terrestrial temperature during the next 30 years can have important implications for different parts of the planet on growing vegetation, agriculture, food supplies, and heating needs in both Northern and Southern hemispheres. This global cooling during the upcoming grand solar minimum 1 (2020–2053) can offset for three decades any signs of global warming and would require inter-government efforts to tackle problems with heat and food supplies for the whole population of the Earth.”
        
        Significant implications for food production and keeping people warm are foreshadowed which it is suggested will require inter-governmental cooperation.

        68% of the Ballots in Antrim County were sent for adjudication, a process where an adjudicator can dtermin the voters intent and alter the ballot accordingly and a process that wasn’t monitored
        
        The FEC standard for an acceptable level of pallots going to adjudication is 0.004% or 1 in 250,000. 68% as opposed to 004% is not acceptable in anyones books
        
        Furthermore the adjudication logs were physically deleted as were the security logs for the machines – funny that

        3. Search GD using Archives at bottom of KB page

    Useless fact for the day – there’s a small number of well known toxidromes that cover the major poisons/ODs – the wiki site has most of the drug ones (apart from tricyclics), there’s a couple common enviro exposures as well. I test and test and examine and set assignments over and over again, and insist my med and pharmacy students learn them. Some time round 2011/2012 an ex-med student called me out of the blue, he’d been on residency (=house surgeon) in the ER and a field hand came in acting odd, the senior doctor thought he was drunk but my ex-student recognized cholinergic toxidrome (from pesticide exposure), he wanted to tell me I’d saved a life that day. Ever since that phone call, I am mentally quite prepared to retire, and happily.

  That sounds like under-ripe. Some fruit only has a 24 hour window when it it at it’s best–I have to nab our raspberries daily.
  Commercial harvesting has to allow for marketing and transport so it will ripen to optimal in the supermarket.

  Leave the strawbs out of the fridge over night as they are tasteless cold. Also a grower advised to wash and dry the fruit as soon as you get home, put into an air tight container, and place in fridge. They will keep for days. We don’t have indoor strawberries in our area, all outside grown, but they are relatively easy to grow at home.

I remember when

Africa 1918-19 ‘Spanish’ Influenza pandemic.
Of the Continents, Africa – particularly sub-Saharan – suffered the highest average mortality rate.
The pandemic killed nearly 2% of Africa’s population within six months.
There were three distinct waves –
* First wave, March-July 1918, infectious but relatively mild.
* The deadly second wave, in August-December 1918.
* A serious but more moderate third wave in 1919.
The first wave touched only North Africa (the Maghrib and Egypt) and Southeastern Africa (especially Natal Province and adjoining territories). Both suffered markedly lighter impact from the second wave.
Those areas untouched by the first wave, the bulk of the population, had no opportunity to develop a degree of immunity to the deadlier second wave.

    Actually, the lockdowns are a major problem – not so much for the aged & infirm, but for healthy people. Being locked up and separated from other people causes major issues, but the results are’nt seen for 1 – 5 years.
    Also of course, as we are seeing now, lockdowns destroy the economy and lives as well.

    I’m picking there will be a profit made from all water services and this profit will be split between Maori and Government. This will be a cash splash for both entities.
    However, the cash splash for Maori will be without financial input from them.
    The suckers will be us who have to pay for water services. Govt. ownership of water services will be like our vehicle fuel where taxes/levies are applied for no other reason than to fund politician’s vanity projects.

    Few teachers for that elementary language Te Reo. The language is of little practical use being fossilised about 1835. It’s real significance now is is on the Marae and in the Maori Land Court where genealogies are recited to show land titles and other pre-writing tribal claims.
    
    Maori know they have too few possible teachers. The current public misuse is providing many unauthorised variants–pidginisation is occurring. The shortage of root words and the bastardisation of grammar is not helpful. Even the name Te Reo demonstrates that paucity–“te” is the singular article, “reo” denotes sound, loud, call, police as in Leoleo. With so few words they have to work severely overtime.
    Difficult to teach too as the sentence structure differs vastly from English and there are many more pronouns.

      Oh I get that Kev, I was just pointing out the more serious shortage that exists.
      
      Also, when I learned Maori in the 80s as a kid, we didn’t learn it bastardized into English grammatical construction… the only language I know (there’s probably a bunch, but I mean “of my experience”) that has similar construction is Farsi… the construction is not concrete (and nor was Maori back in the day) it is much more poetic and abstract. I can understand when somebody is speaking what I now all “current, modern Maori” since they started standardizing it in the 90s (ish) and the new words are mostly appropriations/portmanteaus, but what I speak when required to [which is pretty much zero these days] is more akin to a dialect than what’s taught in schools and Universities these days.

    If a kid wants to learn Maori then fine. But I would say that with intelligent parents with a ‘global’ outlook, most kids will opt to learn Mandarin, Spanish, German..indeed ANYTHING will be more useful than Maori. Unless you get your satisfaction out of rarely leaving New Zealand and being woke.
    
    Parents should encourage their kids to become proficient in English, a second langauge, master physics, chemistry, biology and maths. Find a hobby they excel in and a sport they excel in. After those bases are covered the kids can do “recreational” subjects – cook be photography or, indeed learning Maori language.
    
    I would also encourage parents to do 2 more things. First, instill formal and best practice study habits. Second, get your child from a young age to take on one of the many good online courses in ‘critical reasoning’. It is scary that our senior politicians, including you know who, lack this skill. And when you combine it with no understanding of science, the results are terrible, and the nation pays the price.
    
    You can’t get away from the basics for success. oops I forgot. New Zealand has done exactly that. Which is why are kids have gone from the top of the international achievement leagues to the bottom in a generation. And the reaction from the Government to this disaster. Silence.

      It is difficult to explain to some students (and their parents) how limiting it can be for them if they haven’t got some basic maths at their fingertips.
      
      Pupils who drop maths at Level 2 NCEA (year 12, 6th form) are effectively closing the door to many career paths (or at the very least – setting themselves up for hours of catch-up lessons).

      The dominant language in any country or the world for that matter, is always going to the language of exchange, trading or progress.
      
      Maori is a dead language, but fine if you someone or a group of people want to indulge or remember it. Maori keep crying poor and criminally over-represented, and that is caused by a failure to understand the language of exchange, trading, and civilised values and principles.
      
      Imagine being Maori and keeping it alive and having your peers forced to use Te Reo. Speaking only Maori will prevent you from learning computer programing, web programming, becoming a pilot, a rocket scientist, and one of any one of thousands of jobs that require a good grasp of the English language.
      
      By enforcing Te Reo Maori, and encouraging Maori to speak it as a first or only language, the government are assigning those individuals to low paying labouring jobs where good English is not required. In effect, the government is standing tall by the pool edge, with one foot on the head of Maori, pushing it under the water, all the while chanting “You poor fracking Maori. You are being discriminated against.”
      
      This government, and Jacinda, do not care about Maori. They do not want to enable Maori by improving their communication achieved by becoming proficient in the language of exchange and trade. They want like very socialist/communist/fascist before them, to disable Maori and indigenous races in general, in order to make them subservient and dependent on the state, and therefor controllable.
      
      If you don’t believe this, go online and find out what jobs of significance you can get only speaking Maori, and how many of those jobs exist.
      
      Instead of forcing Te Reo on English speaking New Zealanders, they should be focusing on the English illiterate Maori speaking fluent English. Their future depends on it.

        Maori language stopped developing with the Treaty. NZ got opened up to becoming a dual nation and the newcomers used a language which had extra opportunities.
        Samoa has had to face language development but they had a homogeneous population so development occurred according to custom under supervision of the Law Draftsman. However, teaching had been available in English prior to independence from NZ. English has continued as a second but essential language for all. This has created a literate society well in touch with its culture but taking its place in the contemporary world. The Samoan language remains fundamental as their lives are mainly conducted in it or a mixture.
        Te Reo may be appropriate for some rural villages but it is largely obsolete. It is too late to force the majority of the NZ population to use this undeveloped alternative to its substantive transliteration.

  Don’t really understand this stuff. It already seems compulsory to me. My kids all learnt it and all my friends kids. Certainly more fluent than my generation. Completely normal part of school life these days. Even at my kids high schools it’s used regularly at assemblies etc. It’s never going to go away like some of here imagine.       My kids? Yeah. Cant complain. My sons is year 10 this year and doing year 12 Cambridge maths. Both pretty bright. He is pretty good at Latin and wants to do classics ( not sure what for though). He was in the kapa haka group for two years. Cant see how learning the Maori stuff impedes them. I was an old parent, my wife is 15 years younger than me, so I have been involved in the school throughout. The Maori stuff is just part of school life, its just normal. I don’t know if the older contributors here understand it.

    Apart from the fact that maori never had Christmas I also doubt they had a word for “merry”.

  I had two years of Maori lessons at intermediate school, by a European woman whose husband was Maori. The school employed her to give a weekly lesson to each class.
  End result: I can count to 4 fluently, up to 10 if I really concentrate (but can’t be sure I’m correct with all of them), some colours, and a few words like kai, moana, maunga, tapu.
  What did those 2 years of lessons really achieve?
  I think the same thing will happen with compulsory lessons – they won’t be done well, and students won’t learn enough for the lessons to be meaningful, so it will just be feel good tokenism. Which about sums up everything this Government does.

I was at a mall yesterday and saw a couple having afternoon tea at the Muffin Break. The lady had a full face veil on and had to drink under the cover of the veil. The guy had a stern look sitting next to her. I was a bit angry inside as how could a culture / religion allow such a mistreatment of females. That’s a ~~blind spot~~ visually obscured spot of gender inequality in NZ for all to see.

  Before travelling to work I have to Have a PCR negative result 48 hrs prior to flying from NZ.
  
  Why havent we done it here is beyond belief. Especially with MIQ leakages etc.
  
  Example, I flew in Singapore ( transit), next day flew to Jakarta ( hotspot) then flew to batam, Another hotspot and currently steaming to Myanmar ( super hotspot) now.
  However tested and checked every stage by Military, police and Health officals except Singapore ( pre PCR test at home) and stayed in transit hotel. Secure borders. Everything has been water tight.
  As per first time back in July MIQ, The only chance of catching COVID was there at MIQ hotel.
  If they are going to lock us up, Borders flights etc then they need to get there act together and test returnees from high risk countires. Im for one will be one of those.
  Also reading report someone flew with known symtoms.
  I mean seriously ? Is this the High quality Immigrants we are allowing into NZ?

  I didn’t know about the alternative Randerson report into the resource management system (although a quick google search brings up many articles, it seems to be driven by MBIE, which by default is the Govt …. but considering it received zilch media coverage in the election debates, eg when National talked about RMA reforms, I don’t even recall the PM Ardern talking about it (let alone being asked about it by the MSM), but now we appear to have a solution to be presented to the Labour Govt to enact … where is the transparency)?
  
  But back to the water reforms, it looks like the Govt is handing out tax-payer funding to local councils to enact water changes (OTOH it can be argued that at least the govt is stumping up the cash for local councils to make changes) …. by as Councillor Tina Nixon astutely articulates:

  She said she feared that local people needed to “take control of what our future should look like”, otherwise “we will suffer at the hands of overpaid consultants and central government policy wonks”.

  And can we trust Labour? Of course not! It’ll become an exercise of more bureaucrats and buildings built for them to dictate to the councils what to do … meanwhile expect job losses at councils “sharp end” (actual people that do things eg technical and scientific) to make way for more 6-figure paid executives, policy wonks (think JAG types by the dozens) and greenie type civil servants enacting policies that will make farming harder????

Got bitten by one of the most deadly snakes in the world apparently. They were saying a single drop of the fur-de-lance’s venom is enough to kill 32 men!
Poor ol Pete had to walk and crawl thru dense jungle, avoiding savages with blowpipes just to reach hospital. There he was sitting up in bed with a swollen leg chatting to TV reporters and downing a Fanta.

My partner reckons he smells a rat……just saying.
