If you look at Trevor Mallard and work out all the disgraceful things in Parliament he has done what gives him the right to think he is any better than those protesting.
Again we see childish decisions coming from person holding one of New Zealand’s highest positions and a feeble weak Prime Minister giving him more power to divide New Zealander’s.
A good Prime Minister would have fronted the protests and explained her opposition but no that’s to easy and she has reaffirmed that violence will grab her more votes than a peaceful ending.

  The biggest protest at Parliament for years …. and the MSM are putting the torchlight on the protesters and not the ruling government.
  
  The PM isn’t being “held to account” by the media (they gave her patsy questions on 1 or 2 occasions and that was it – we just know if this was a National Govt media would be focusing on the Nat. PM and what they intend to do to end the protests day after day).
  
  The Speaker also isn’t being held to account by the media, again they uncritically “report” his actions without judgement – we just know if this was a National Govt the media would be questioning the appropriateness of the Nat. Speakers motives, especially when the protest was entirely peaceful yesterday.

    Be it the politicians or the corporate media that comprise the anti-freedom bloc, every action they are taking strengthens the pro-freedom movement. The politicians are confirming, once again, that they have no argument for their restrictions or the moral authority to maintain them, while the incongruence between the corporate media commentary and framing of the pro-rights position versus the freely available footage reduces their credibility even further (if that is possible). The pro-freedom dissent movement is really in the box seat here. All that is necessary is to never back down, and victory will follow.

    The longer the protest goes on the more often the media have to report that not everyone is 100% behind the Labour government.
    Every day the fact that some people don’t like what Labour/Jacinda are doing has to be reported.
    Once the media start showing that at least some of the protesters are ‘Joe Blogs’ from around the corner, the ‘unruly’ part becomes harder to maintain.
    Bryce Edwards and Barry Soper thought it was safe to stroll amongst the protestors, talking to them.

  Our so called right wing parties are the problem; as far as JA is concerned, everyone agrees with her course of action, and National and ACT provide no evidence to the contrary.
  David Seymour wouldn’t even show his face to listen and see if there was 20% of the anti mandate message he agrees with, for goodness sakes.

      Here you go F4NZ, if Brenda drops the mandates and the vax passes tomorrow I’ll go and get the jab. As long as she promises that inane policy will never be attempted again in NZ.
      I have zero fear of the jab, I am however traumatised at the thought of compulsory medical interventions ordered by government and the need for medical “papers” to participate in a free society. This is what I fight against. Not the jabs per se. The coercion, bullying and inherent fascism.

    I couldn’t agree more. I think Cindy and her mob have divided New Zealand so hard that it will take years for the division to fade. The sports club I’m involved with has had committee members resign over the traffic light decision, members resign and those who remain won’t speak with those on the other side of the divide.       Sadly it is a reflection of what she has done to the country. In one respect, I am devastated that there are quite a few at a local club who I will not avoid or hold a grudge against, but I will certainly never look at them again in the same light. Their active and enthusiastic support of this madness has prolonged it and is prolonging it even longer.
      I don’t think they are evil, but they are certainly not people I would trust in a crisis.
      On the other side of that, I now know a small group of people who I will do anything for and who will do anything for me.
      
      This is my tribe and I am happy to be part of it. I’m glad I’m not in the other tribe.

With a far greater grasp of the (even official) data & statistics that show the Covifiasco & jab-mania to be ludicrous responses to this relatively mild respiratory virus.

  Umm since when has protesting at Parliament ever been labelled “unlawful”? As for “occupation”, Stuff sure as hell did not label previous protest occupations (Springbok tour, Wall St/1%’ers, various Maori issue protests and occupations “unlawful”.
  (Story headline: Soggy morning for Parliament protesters …).
  
  Then there is another Stuff story which again totally ignores the “anti mandate” issue (and people losing their jobs in the Health, Education, Defence sectors etc) and instead concentrates on the fringe minority that were aggressive.
  
  Has Stuff even had a story on the naked women protestor that had her hair pulled and head pinned down?
  
  If not shame on Stuff, at least the NZ Herald and Newshub have reported it … perhaps Stuff, being Wellington based, is just too close to Labour Party apparatchiks?

  While I certainly do not condone attacks on journalists, that opinion piece is remarkable for its almost complete lack of self awareness. Stuff is amazing, Stuff holds power to account, Stuff is the greatest etc.
  
  Has their head of news or anyone else in their organisation ever taken a step back and had a good, hard look at themselves? Could they perhaps admit that they have not been taking the current government to task on its multitude of failures? Could they perhaps recognise that they have not been covering issues that will have significant impact on the lives of New Zealanders like Three Waters or He Puapua? Are they perhaps too ahead of public opinion in mindlessly supporting Maori grievances and climate change issues?
  
  But most remarkably, nowhere in that article is the Public Interest Journalism Fund mentioned, and the fact that Stuff sources funding from it. Has their head of news really stopped to consider what impact this fund is having on the quality of journalism in this country and the fact that anyone who wishes to access funding from the PIJF has to become a virtual cheerleader for the current government?
  
  I sympathise with those journalists who have been on the receiving end of threats of violence, but so long as they lack the self awareness to step back and honestly ask themselves why their profession is now so distrusted, I can’t see their plight improving anytime soon.

  But in this day of dis-information photographic evidence is king. So how accurate are Emmas interpretations when seen next to photographic evidence?

The photo literally shows a picture of a young happy woman leaning over taking a photo next to a woman playing a guitar and people singing . Remember Bryan Gould? He was 83 yesterday. I thought he’d be older, perhaps 93. He has a blog called – wait for it – Bryan Gould – in which he accuses the Herald of being pro-National. A whole series of columns obsessed by this accusation. News to most readers of Kiwiblog, I imagine, who rightly dismiss the Ferald as a rag. Gould’s blog is worth a read, once, to see how people lose their mojo, if they ever had one. A failed Uk politician who came home to tell Labour in NZ how to do it (not).

      @MCos The government has very quietly introduced a booster mandate for several industries. My workplace has written to all staff advising us of the government mandate, and has said to comply with the government order they will have to terminate anyone who hasn’t had a booster. We have to be vaccinated by 1st March – only a couple of weeks away – or within 6 months of receiving the second shot. Some industries have to have a booster by 15 February – only a couple of days away.
      
      So yes – a very large number of people are “under pressure to get a booster shot at the expense of losing their job”.

      One is a mandated industry. One works for a govt department (contractor) and two in hospo. So the first two would be mandated for the booster very soon, the other two will need it soon enough if they didn’t already lose their jobs over 1 and 2.

  Boosters were 50,000 yesterday. It has been around that level daily. It is climbing steadily. They don’t release data on those eligible for a booster who have not shown up. At least not in the daily updates.
  
  Kids vaccines have slowed to a trickle. 2,000 yesterday with the rate stuck at 43 percent. To make advances they would need to be doing 20,000 kids daily. Anyway it is now beyond doubt that many vaccinated parents are not vaccinating their kids. That trend is more prominent in rural areas and Maori. The parents who are vaccinating their kids are white and Asian parents in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

    If you get infected here you get a full medical pack including anti-virals, vit D , vit c , paracetomol. Straight away you get three blood tests to check heart, lungs etc. Most cases with symptoms last 3 to 4 days.
    
    In this country there are at least 7 diff vaccines available. Masks are encouraged in small confined shops, no tracing at all. Only police can question if you don’t wear mask. Not Joe Public. Here there are slso available rapid anti-gen tests at pharmacies or gps. You can also get antibody tests and check your Vit D levels.
    
    The govt only updates every 2 to 4 weeks on any changes or reviews current status.

    I guess you would say my wife was coerced as she is a nurse, but she wasn’t. She grabbed the opportunity to get an early vax. Before nurses could get a vax port workers and airport workers could, at Nelson they had some surplus so she and several other nurses got themselves down the their jab center and got jabbed up early. But many people who take them think they have a silver bullet to mingle and go about business as if they are untouchable.   So….the police are an interesting organization at the moment. Make no bones about it. Coster is hated by most Frontline coppers. The reasons are numerous. Police culture is a complex beast but its being slowly eroded and defanged through paperwork, softly tactics never tried in anger, diverse recruiting. They no longer want big guys who look like they like a bit of Ra-ra, ie alpha males. A massive emphasis on deescalation, which isn’t a bad thing in itself and cultural mores and sensitivities etc. The irony is delicious when the very left wing government that has been reshaping the leadership around woke values, when they wanted them to bring g the hammer down. The cops couldnt. Make no bones about it Thursday was an embarrassing failure. There is too much risk management and paperwork for every little decision. There are a battalion of people advising why they can’t do any move the cops would normally make in this situation. I don’t think people realize the crises they are in and how ill-equipped to deal with this type of situation and the scale of it. These protesters if they keep their shape, numbers and discipline can make the cops and governments job extremely tough!!!!

Funny how at maori land protests the media never go into the characteristics of those protesting. They just promote the cause and infer its a just and noble protest.
A friend of mine is coming to Wellington today to join the protest. He is a very successful businessman and hardly fits in the no hoper category. I don’t agree with some of his stances but I certainly support his right to protest on issues which concern him.

These last 2 years have thrown up so much fodder for the opposition, served it up to them on a plate, yet they have failed to hold them accountable. The Nats and Act are empty suits. I can’t vote National or Act for the simple fact they are such useless opposition party’s. Imagine if this was John Key, Labor would be all over him and the press would be running stories against him all day long. It’s like parliament is just one big political party, there’s no opposition, no ideas, no debate, no charisma, no energy from any of them. Although completely self-evident, the sheer impossibility of the Crown having “partners” among its subjects still isn’t grasped by those wilfully obdurate minds- but then, decades of bewailing how their “ancestors’ land was stolen from them”- when in fact, it’d been actively traded- has obviously numbed whatever basics they had in elemental rationale.

Today, the biggest drawback faced by many Maori is the fact that they’ve never stopped to appreciate the manifold benefits they’ve received post-colonisation – and how it bettered their lives.

That main problem is their own – but so many can’t or won’t see it.

Told by prime minister they don’t represent New Zealand , EFFECTIVELY THEY ARE NOT US .
Abandoned by the opposition parties who could be using them to hammer the govts policies but no , no …. let’s hv a soaking wet fest , read the room completely wrong , and sacrifice concerned ordinary citizens in their hour of need FOR FUCKING OPTICS .
What happened to standing up for what you believe in as a politician and to hell with the votes .
Evil prevails when good men do nothing .
So where are the good men ?

What an absolute disgrace all round , we live in a country where our main parties cower in a beehive whilst protesting citizens are ignored outside , besmirched in the bribed media , physically assaulted by cops , sprayed with water the speaker of the god damned house ordered , trespassed on tax payer funded land ….. vilified in public statements by the limp wristed , saggy elbowed , hand wringing, cowards hiding under their benches we call politicians .
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE , a govt not worthy of the name and an opposition also not worthy of the name .
I was a Seymour man , thought Luxon doing well …. all Seymour had to do was go far right , loved his state of nation speech ( they polled Maori and bureaucrats ) he meets the crowd and climbs into the govt over policy and the fact Brenda ignored and vilified them , there’s political gold to mine here with labour’s response , mallards antics too
Let Luxon be mr woke and flounder in the middle, hiding away playing Brenda’s game ( I don’t think he should , he should front too but as a game plan this could work ) …. together they hv all bases covered .

Right now , they hv both abandoned.new zealanders in their hour of need , they should apologise , Seymour at least , and go n meet them .

Mallard and Hipkins have apparently been arrested in the past for behavior at protests – now we have them complaining about others following their behavior.
And Mallard is simply continuing his bully boy behavior by turning on the sprinklers – what an idiot.
Such action will harden the protestors attitude and wreck and remaining traces of what was a lawn. And I think the police had lights on all night.
The old advice about misbehaving children was ‘Just ignore them’ – but Mallard et al certainly arent doing that and I expect the protest to gather support following this stupidity from Government – which in light of how theyve reacted to the whole Covid thing isnt a surprise – off the cuff actions.

Then shortly after, on the News we have an Act mp saying they dont support the protest and not a peep about Act’s position against govt mandates.
Seems to me they’re either really shy or actually when it boils down to it supportive of govt mandates.

For those Wellingtonians who wish to support the protest today the priorities are bottled water, dry clothing, towels, duvets, pillows, coats, tents, umbrellas. Take them to the medic tent on the grounds. Also talk to the food tents to see what other priorities are. Thank you all for your generosity.

    I know some folks from outside Wgtn are placing online orders at Wgtn supermarkets for collection by the team, just not sure how to contact them but there will be a Facebook group for convoy 2022 NZ that may help. I don’t do Facebook.

I think, for the past couple of days we are seeing something that has been artfully hidden for the past couple of years – the truth of the matter emerging.

Truth No. One.
The politicians will not meet with the protesters for one simple reason.

None of them have a justifiable counter-argument to the ethical correctness, the economic consequences, the scientifically-justified objections of the protesters.

Truth No. Two.
The national media are biased and corrupted talking heads for a Government which has successfully bought them off to be their slaves.

Truth No. Three.
The ‘Team of Five Million’ is a catchy sound-byte and the protest exposes a gaping hole in the ‘single source of truth’. Because, if you are ‘the single source of truth’ and you are caught out in just one lie, it follows that you are exposed as a liar.

Truth No. Four. The fear porn is failing. The only tool left at the state’s disposal is spiteful attempts at spurring peaceful protesters into violent action. I mean. Turning the sprinklers on – how out of touch are these idiots?

Truth No. Four. The political classes are exposed as the self-seeking stuffed shirts they have always tried to pretend they are not. When ever have we witnessed New Zealanders willing to die in a ditch to hold on to the ‘right’ to oppress their fellow citizens?

Truth No. Five. The Vaccinations are a failed model. Never before has so much money being laundered by international pharmaceutical companies right under our noses. Politicians who promote them fear being exposed as corrupted by cash-inducemnts, or careerist agendas as they continue to sacrifice their people on teh altars of their own vanities.

Truth No. Six. Covid kills. It kills people who have serious co-morbidities, it kills the elderly. It kills an inconsequential number of people who were (sorry) already at death’s door. But it kills many more who have been denied treatment or early detection due to the poor planning and sheer selfishness of the political classes.
Think about this. The justification for lockdowns was so that the Health system would not be ‘overwhelmed’. Then they essentially shut down that same apparently functioning health system so it couldn’t do the very thing they justified lock-downs with – essentially killing people through neglect.

Truth No. Seven. The population of many ‘wealthy’ nations have been bled-dry by people who promoted themselves as our saviours, but who in reality were gutless, self-seeking and deluded power-junkies.

Truth No. Eight. Forcing people to take the knee, and be injected against their will by employing state-coercion is a crime against humanity, and rips aprt the very fabric of the values that our Parliamentary Democracy has supposedly evolved to safeguard the people against – actual Tyranny.

Truth No. Nine. Those who promoted and applauded this travesty, will have to face down a damning historuical judgement firstly because they did wrong, but secondly because they actively betrayed the very principles of their own nation-atates.

Truth No. Ten. They will not win.

Anyway in terms of facts, it has been reported (by Barry Soper) that the Speaker told journalists not to engage with the protestors.

Looks like most of the MSM has been complying!

But looks like Barry Soper is the last remaining journalist in Parliament that has some integrity and has made an effort to speak to some of the protesters.

Expect Labour to “cancel’ Mr Soper next?

The inarticulate, who those with political science degrees like to think they represent.

Perhaps the Prime Minister “cancelling” Waitangi Day celebrations (particularly those at Waitangi itself) has had some unintended consequences?

Judging by the amount of “independent tribes” and “sovereignty” flags being flown at the Parliament protest, and the “carnival atmosphere” at the protest, I wonder if these “types” of guys and gals (and associated hippies) headed down to Wellington to join the anti-mandate protesters, giving them an outlet to vent their frustrations?

If so, surely Ardern and Labour can only blame their own actions (traffic light red back in mid January and the halting of events) as being the catalyst for these protests becoming bigger and bigger (than perhaps what was intended by the original Convoy protestors)?!!!

My father in law is in his 80s.

He served his country in the RNZAF, including flying into Vietnam to bring home the bodies of NZ servicemen who had been killed.

In his retirement, his main enjoyments used to be going to the local swimming pool, the library and the club for retired professionals.

And now he can’t do any of those things.

All because, for reasons of faith, he has chosen not to have a covid vaccine.

A vaccine that doesn’t even work.

Do you want to know what’s scary?

We know from experience (over the last 4 years) that Ardern’s Labour Party are not pragmatic, that Ardern and Labour do not admit when they are wrong, that Ardern and Labour will not back down (unless forced into a corner).

So the question that needs to be asked of the PM and Labour is, how do you (Ardern/Robertson/Labour) intend to diffuse the protest situation?

I suspect that Ardern and Roberston do not know, which is a grave concern (for NZ society eg everyone).

I suspect that Ardern and Robertson are so out of their depth (yet again/as always, and covered up by the compliant MSM) that they don’t know what to do, i.e. how to lead and manage.

That’s why we are seeing “stupid” unplanned and ad-hoc reactions, like Mallard having a laugh by turning on the sprinklers (indicating to the media that it is a big joke to him), having Police turn up with batons then removing them a few hours later (because of “optics”), and absolutely no leadership from Ardern over this matter (unlike John Key or even Helen Clark).

I really didn’t want to comment much on these protests over the last few days, thinking the protesters will have their say and they will leave within a few days.

But what’s happened over the last couple of days has appalled me – whilst the majority of Police are professional and doing their job demanded of their masters (Labour and Police HQ), a handful of them have let the profession down (eg the un-resisting tied up 14 year old that had his head squashed by a thug) … Speaker Mallard’s immature bullying by telling the MSM not to talk to protesters and then the sprinkler idiocy was the last straw) … PM Ardern indicating the (majority of) protesters do not have valid concerns and are not “representative”.

Anyway enough about me, what’s worse is that Ardern, Robertson and Labour themselves are caught in the headlights and don’t have the ability to diffuse the situation.

Ardern, Robertson and Labours incompetence will potentially see the protest escalate …. if things get worse then the only honorable thing Labour can do is have senior figures resign – looking at you Ardern or Robertson or Mallard.

        Well, yes, I have read the paper, but suffice to say much of it is well beyond my level of knowledge.
        
        However, I am bringing up the point that I accepted for two years the information that the Pfizer mRNA and its spike proteins are rapidly broken down in our bodies… because that was what I was reading in popular accounts of the way the vaccine worked.
        
        This paper I posted presents evidence that the vaccine mRNA and the Wild-type spike protein can hang around in Lymph cells for a number of weeks (at least).
        
        Now , I’m not an immunologist, so I don’t know if this matters or not. All I know, is that this paper is presenting information that contradicts this statement from our Min of Health.
        
        The genetic code then gets broken down and removed very quickly and easily by our body.

A New Zealand bomber pilot who flew more than 100 missions in World War 2 and was three times decorated for bravery is the subject of an obituary in the Telegraph (unfortunately behind its pay wall).

Wing Commander Tom Horton has died in America, where he retired after returning from New Zealand to the RAF in 1946.

Horton, from Masterton, from 1943 flew Mosquitos in the RAF Pathfinder force. Early in the war he first flew Fairy Battle light bombers, then Blenheim and Boston bombers. Three times he returned to Britain on one engine in flak-damaged planes.

After the war he commanded a Coastal Command squadron, and from 1964 to 1966 he was at the Pentagon as a NATO appointment. He stayed on in America, and worked for some time in real estate in Virginia an Florida.

The comments on the Telegraph article include a post from one Roger Quirk, in Maori, which, translated by Google Translate, says: Greetings, Goodbye, Rest in Peace.

Sorry, I may not have expressed myself properly – “lost it in translation” – but I am suggesting Luxon only call for the gathered, now-washed masses to send ten delegates in to talk to him (chaotic as that may be) but inside Parliament somewhere, not out on the bloody steps of the House.
Take away some of their leaders.

Then Luxon would have done what Ardern hasn’t, and reasonably ended any confrontation as far as National is concerned. What happens next, including the state of the lawns, is Labour’s (especially Mallard’s) problem.

Inside, Luxon can listen a while, then thank anyone who showed up to make a delegation of ten, if they can manager one, and say he will obviously think about it.

He can even split them up – dismiss each as soon as they have had a say, explaining less numbers are safer and he can’t afford to catch covid, especially if they are unvaccinated.

I’m sure Luxon could come up with a twist or two himself. Go for it. Like tomorrow, if it lasts that long.

  A lot of trucks in NZ are owner-operated under contract. They generally require significant regular cashflow to stay ahead of the bank. Not a lot of that when you are parked up in Welly.
  
  And I don’t know what Mainfreight or PBT or Toll or whoever would say if a driver (employee) has parked up one of their trucks for an indefinite period in Welly.

Hopefully it is the mildness of omicron with the lower transmissibility of delta — as opposed to the severity of delta and higher transmissibility of omicron.

  Well there was always a risk of Original Antigenic Sin, it was warned about by a number of experts many months ago. The danger of jabbing during a pandemic forcing the virus to mutate to something worse. There has been a lot of evidence that indicates it is happening.
  Something dismissed without a shred of evidence by a couple of the usual trolls on Kiwiblog like F4NZ. No supporting data, just their assertion that it isn’t a thing. Rod Jackson, apparently an “expert” has never heard of it.
  
  Here’s a link to the latest information suggesting it might be happening. From the NIH in the US. They are part of the US Dept of Health. Not fringe “conspiracy theorists”.
  
  “The bombshell in the paper is that boosting with the Omicron-specific vaccine substantially raised antibodies to the original Wuhan strain, and was better at neutralising Wuhan strain than Omicron strain. This means that… well, the authors say it themselves:
  
  The observation that boosting with either mRNA-1273 or mRNA-Omicron resulted in the expansion of a similarly high frequency of cross-reactive B cells likely stems from the principle of original antigenic sin, otherwise termed antigenic imprinting, whereby prior immune memory is recalled by a related antigenic encounter (Davenport and Hennessy, 1957; Davenport et al., 1953).”
  
  The pandemicists must be stopped. They are experimenting with all of our lives. Jabbed and unjabbed.

Hard to get ones head around the dissonance between the articles in today’s herald:

1. Ashley Bloomfield gunning for 100k per day booster vaccinations as our best defence against Omicron.
2. Article from the Financial Times on the quest to find the Universal Vaccine. This states the current vaccines were developed for the original Wuflu variant, had diminished effectiveness against later strains and was ineffective against Omicron. Likely an effective vaccine for Omicron ready by March.
3. The Herald themselves continue to push for 90% vaccination level for 5+ year olds and boosters for 18+.

It doesn’t take much journalistic skill to ask the questions:
– Why is my newspaper pushing vaccination with a not fit for purpose product?
– Why is my employer promoting 5-12 year olds to undergo a useless medical treatment?
– Why is the NZ Director General of Health not aware of the vaccines ineffectiveness for Omicron?

I just can’t believe how ignorant the majority of Kiwis are.

Also, for all the people that are complying with a system that they know is flawed … YOU are the system. That’s right, anyone double jabbed, boosted who don’t want to be. Anyone who has a fake vaccine passport. You are not clever, you are complying and your compliance is used to perpetuate the discrimination.

This only stops when we say NO!

  The bit I find newly odd…Fizzer has withdrawn its application for EUA for its u der 5 yr old vax because, to paraphrase, it spdoesnt seem to produce any antibody activity.
  
  So what was the data on 5-12 year olds? What changes over that period pre puberty (mostly) that got some result for that cohort?

No mention what they should do about an MIQ spot.

The article quotes a NZ Herald reporter as saying ” the atmosphere at the protest is tense and aggressive”

The reporter is either lying, or hadn’t even been there.

The atmosphere was the direct opposite of that. It was relaxed and good humoured.

  mandk: it’s great to hear these firsthand accounts from you and krazykiwi. Also footages on Freedoms and Rights coalition Facebook page of Chantelle Baker, showed people all well behaved.
  
  The Media and the Politicians have reason to be scared of this crowd. The media have been responsible for letting Ardern et al away with dividing and discriminating. They have dehumanised and vilified these people for refusing to bow down. The media need to get into the crowd and do their jobs ie interview people. Politicians need to get out of the ivory tower and listen to the people. But neither want to uncork that bottle of truth.
  
  Those people protesting have my utmost respect. They are fighting for my rights and the rights of all, even those that discriminate against them. I hope and pray they are joined by many more, and stay the course as long as it takes to bring the tyranny to an end.

Hopefully all 122 people arrested in Wellington in support of the Freedom Convoy 2022 will request a jury trial. If I was on the jury there wouldn’t be chance of conviction.

Tell me where I can contribute to their legal expenses.

Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard has started his next attempt to make life uncomfortable for the protesters outside Parliament, by setting up speakers to boom Barry Manilow, the Macarena, and Covid-19 vaccination messages at them.

Mallard said: “We wanted to make sure everybody here had the warning about trespass and because of the number of unvaccinated people in the audience, we believe it’s important to promulgate messages about vaccination.”

He said the 15-minute loop of music and Covid-19 ads would play on repeat, possibly through the night.

Err … so how, exactly, does Mr Mallard know what “the number of unvaccinated people in the audience” is? Or is he just making stuff up … as usual?

And this is the same Trevor Mallard who, a couple of years ago, launched an independent review into bullying and harassment of staff at Parliament. Maybe he should look up the meaning of the word “ironic”.

What an embarrassment this man is.

  I was involved with the removal of Occupy protesters from Aotea Square a decade ago. Despite the fact that they were a rag-tag bunch with no clearly discernible cohesion and some rather odd opinions, they were treated with dignity and respect until the protest finally came to a halt with them being moved on lawfully.
  By contrast, this Speaker is behaving like a petulant child with his sprinklers and speakers. Is there something special about Covid that entitles those in power to behave in a high-handed and arrogant fashion towards those with whom they disagree, or is it simply now acceptable in our democracy for those who wish to protest or object, to be treated like animals?
