Parliamentary protesters are an ingenious lot. They have built some toilets, lifted a sewer manhole cover and feed the output into the sewage system (where it belongs). City bureaucrats are rather annoyed over this but cannot really fault the substance of it. Media are making a big issue of this, probably because it is ingenious and outrageous.

  The protesters have (again) embarrassed the council in many ways by creating improvised yet fully functional public services. It just demonstrates the bureaucratic state of regional and local councils, that now prioritise sending delegates on overseas global warming conferences, and yet can’t run an effective public bus service.

    The Wellington bus service is pretty effective. Most of the bugs have been shaken out since the major revamp a few years ago. WRC and the two bus companies cannot be blamed for abandoning the Lambton bus interchange when protesters closed in on it. The Police should have secured it and its approaches at an early stage. Despite this the bus service is still a functioning and passengers in the main are appreciative of the drivers operating under difficult circumstances.

      Well Peterwn, 7 hours later it looks like the ingenious protesters have it (over the local government bureaucracy) even if the bus service was just a simple (if somewhat poor) example.
      You have to credit the power of the kiwi people in the protest to get it together for the greater good of their community.

        Bugger off, I have seen enough, when I hear these idiots praising Tamiki, praising Billy TK , snd they are saying Tamiki is hot Getty’s heating, then that’s enoufot me, I realise the intentions of the protests are great, snd several that were originally there were there for the right reasons, but when you see them wearing tinfoil hats, and had gigga counters on the concrete blocks, then I can’t support them

    The sewage system is called ‘wastewater’, and the other system ‘stormwater’. It is quite apparent that the improvised toilets are discharging into the wastewater/sewage system, otherwise the Council would be extremely upset. It looks like a nameless plumber among the protesters did the work and would know what he was doing.

      Perfectly agree peterwn – eg. 3 waters, ‘blackwater’ & ‘greywater’ as components of wastewater etc. It was ( in my view anyway) a deliberate attempt to avoid the still prevalent ‘sewage’ word, coupled with the tonal inflections and pictures to suggest something was wrong.
      Haven’t seen ‘wastewater’ in a LB assessment yet, doubt sheeple would know the difference between waste & storm and if challenged suspect nushub would respond with something like this:

    This first sentence is the official “rivers of filth” story that all the media were primed and ready to go with today. The police helped set this up. The protesters originally brought in portaloos. The police carted them away and blocked them from bringing in more. The protest site was supposed to stink to high heaven by now with sewage in the harbour. That would be the justification for sending in the big boys with truncheons.
    
    The second sentence is what actually happened. The protestors built toilets and hooked them to the sewers.

    The scanning has a different purpose – indoctrination for the electronic identity pass to be used by the subjects for their social credit score.       There can be no doubt that the bulk of the spread of covid is being done by the jabbed. As predicted months ago. The vaccinated are more susceptible to infection. They might have a little more protection, but what’s the point if they are exponentially increasing the spread?
      On a positive note, we should all embrace this. natural infection gives stronger and longer lasting immunity. I think I may have covid, but it’s no different to any other bug I’ve had. A minor irritation. I won’t be getting a completely unreliable covid test. I will get an antibody test as soon as Cindy stops making it illegal for them to be imported. It would be nice to know if I have built up my immunity. HRH will get over herself eventually I’m hoping.

        I had hepatitis A 50 years ago. And I still have hepatitis antibodies today. I have been tested. I can never get hepatitis today.
        
        Of course that is not to deride the excellent vaccines that have been developed over the last 70 years and which have saved millions of lives. For example measles infection provides life long immunity from the disease. However the measles vaccine generally provides 15 years protection, and you get another 15 years if you need a booster as an adult. Which is why I have no time for childhood vaccine antivaxxers.
        
        Governments were conned around the world on the COVID vaccine. The claim was that they were “95 percent effective”. If the leaflet in the packet had said “useless after 4 months” would governments have spent all that money? Of course not.
        
        And yet by the end of April the USA will roll out COVID vaccines for babies. Who would put it past Jacinda to do the same?

        Spoke with a few people yesterday who clearly believe the triple jab affords them “immunity” from covid.
        So probing their understanding a little (whilst they smoked cigarettes every 25 minutes) I just enquired what happens 3 months after your booster jab! They looked at me in astonishment and said, “guess I get another one”.

        Two things – you can get antibody test via community laboratories – if you get your GP to write out request form and you pay for it.
        
        Benedict – hepatitis is quite different. Did you have A or B? A is mild or asymptomatic in children and does provide lasting immunity. B is also mild and asymptomatic in children but causes chronic infection, of which about 1% clear each year, although some of the virus remains in your liver so you are never actually ‘cured’. Someone who has cleared hep B and has an immune system won’t be infected on being re-exposed. But coronaviruses appear to be quite different – I am no virologist but I think it might be RNA viruses harder to make vaccines against.

        Govt wants high numbers of infection for control – antibody testing drops this number big time.

        BY – I’m not so certain Governments were conned. I still can’t get my head around all the layers of deceit that have enabled the worlds greatest delusion.
        
        Take a look at the evidence:
        
        These vaccines were only possible in the beginning and now by:
        1. Semantics – changing the definition of what is able to be called a vaccine.
        2. Suppression of medical treatments effective for COVID.
        3. Allowing approval without longitudinal safety testing.
        4. Extreme coercion and lack of truely informed consent to nudge mass vaccination
        5. Failure to review vaccine approval based on unprecedented adverse reaction data
        6. Hiding of the information provided to FDA emergency sign-off
        7. Failure to recognise and require reapproval when the vaccine changed from the authorised 2 shot system to a 2 + booster every 3 months treatment
        8. Ongoing promotion and coercion for 2019 vaccine to be used for 2020 and 2021 virus variants – despite the manufacture admitting they were no longer effective – by the Director General of Health and PM no less
        9. Promoting vaccination, and subsequent reduction in immune system for function, at the time the rate of spread (R value) has reached peak levels (3.54 being comparable to other countries at peak globally).
        10. Zero focus on lifting hospital system capacity – facilities, people, sharing of international best practices. In fact reported ICU capacity diminished
        11. Scaring the shit out of everyone, further disabling the functioning of the health system and society as a whole
        12. Zero public health promotion ie exercise, diet, sunshine, social connection, anxiety reduction, positivity, supplementation etc
        13. Minister of Health focused on major overhaul of the health system – illogical thing to do, like changing ones political system in the midst of a war
        
        I would say that it is the people who have been conned. The Government has been part of the system driven by a mix of lust for power, control, greed, misguided ideaology. A veritable melting pot of evil.

    I never said I am prepared to have my freedoms and privacy restricted to keep me safe.
    
    One day I am not allowed to have a haircut or participate in activities to keep vaccinated safe from unvaccinated. That never made any sense. They are vaccinated right.
    
    Then it is to keep unvaccinated safe from vaccinated. This does not make any sense, most people are vaccinated the risk is minimal, right.
    
    What is it now to keep people arriving in the country safe from the infected residents, vaccinated and unvaccinated, this does not make any sense.
    
    Or is this the pandemic of the vaccinated, I should get an unvaccinated pass, and only unvaccinated can have haircuts and eat out, everyone else must wear masks around us. That makes sense except who do I dine with or do I dine alone

      Clevdon farmers market had someone scanning passes for everyone who went in. Masks everywhere.
      I went with friends otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered going in.
      On sunday at a pub well known amongs motorcyclists, they didn’t care about passes. Few masks except amongst a group of older people who seem to be the main ones to drink the Kool-aid.

  Maggy – you might well think that our Prime Minister is a slow learner. But I think, and I have been saying this for two years now, the Prime Minister is very comfortable with covid restrictions staying as long as possible. Preferably until the next election.
  Her mantra is that, ” I saved you from Covid”. What else has she got to run on?
  
  She can’t run on her divisive race-based agenda because if it was revealed to the public she would lose support.
  She can’t run on housing because housing has never been less affordable.
  She can’t run on the economy because thousands of people seem permanently on the dole and inflation is at heights not seen for 30 years.
  
  All she has got is “I saved you from Covid”. So we will have MIQ, we will have vaccine mandates, we will have masks, as long as she can possibly string it out. She is saying that Covid restrictions will stay on in winter to safeguard us from the flu season.
  
  And don’t ever think that she won’t lock us down for something else? Such as the flu or even climate change. Lockdowns today, lockdowns tomorrow, lockdowns for ever.

  News media told us – Five-hundred and fifty-two contact tracers woke on Friday morning to find they were out of work – and detailed the extremely unprofessional, insensitive, and fucking rude manner in which some workers were messaged of termination of employment, at 8.15am, only 45 minutes before shifts began at 9am.
  
  So with no contact workers working, why would anyone sign in visiting the supermarket
  “Perhaps today she will figure out that the MIQ rules are obsolete”, and so is uselessly signing in at venues anyone visits – any process that would involve contact tracers, if they were there.

    LoL, when will the government be honest about the situation (vaccine efficacy, vaccine risk, MIQ, vaccine passes etc).
    By example just try calling your local supermarket manager and tell them you have tested positive on the same day you had visited their store. What are they expected to do with that information? I suspect you might get a polite reply and they’ll carry on regardless.

In the Herald in the weekend, paywalled but these examples of rental problems are included in the article.

A working mother of two who asked to pitch a tent at campsites while hunting for a rental. More than 60 applications for rentals turned down. (Why?)

A father who has moved in with his sister in Hamilton and commutes to Tauranga after being denied rentals because of his children’s ages. Given notice at previous rental because landlord was selling.

And a Rotorua mother who says it took two months to find a rental that wasn’t “rundown”,”damp” or “mouldy” Given notice at previous rental because landlord was selling.

These are just some of the people affected by the rental crisis as real estate agents say changes to the Residential Tenancy Act have made landlords “more stringent than ever” when selecting tenants.

And some are selling up.

There is a theme here, and it is changes made by this government. The changes include new costs imposed, renter tenure restrictions that result in much more stringent risk assessment and legislative changes that are ridiculously complicated.

Not to worry though, the Minister of Finance recommends they ‘look elsewhere’. Maybe join the waiting list for social housing. It’s only 25,887 long.

  And further to the ‘look elsewhere’ suggestion from Minister Robertson, some tenants in Christchurch are now to be charged market rent. Not surprising they are not too happy, but clearly they have had a good run so far.
  
  They could write to the Housing Minister. Or apply for social housing, only 1,770 on the waiting list for Christchurch City, but that was at September 2021 so probably a few more now.

      Thing is, the market rent policy from National placed social housing tenants on the same basis as other tenants. That is, they were charged market rent but could qualify for the Accommodation Supplement. Like every other tenant.
      
      Social housing tenants can pay market rent depending on their income. National had a policy of requiring, encouraging and supporting these tenants to move on, including into home ownership. Hundreds did.
      
      Meantime social housing tenants declare their household income to determine the rent they pay. I’m sure the declarations are 100% accurate.//

  I have over 10 rentals. When they announced the scrapping of the 90 day no cause evictions, two of my tenants were evicted. Why? Because I wasn’t willing to take the risk with them and have no out clause. All my properties are in reasonable condition, but they are due a spruce up. This isn’t going to happen now as the only cause I now have to evict a tenant is on the basis of renovation. Eviction due to selling isn’t an option as I don’t want to sell my properties. Rents are rising due to the cost associated with rental properties. Having idiot labour politicians standing for mayor and saying they want to increase rates by 20% will really slow rent increases. The rental market needs to have a balanced approach where both parties benefit from the arrangement and bad tenants and landlords are appropriately penalized for their behavior. The government need to keep their noses out of the business side of this. Leave insurance companies to run their businesses and hold councils to account on what they are charging.

    By which I mean – many owners have little or no borrowing so are not affected by interest rate rises or the very stupid interest non deductibility. A win for those owners because both factors significantly contribute to increases in market rents. Which the owners will charge if running a business not a charity.

  I’m not a card carrying Putin fan but I’m a realist. 14,000 have been killed in Donbass and Donetsk in the last eight years. Ukraine has broken the Minsk accord repeatedly. The antics of the Azov Battalion are doing them no favours either. If it was a comparable situation as close to the borders of the US what do you think might have been different?
  I’m curious to know why people think it’s ok for the US to illegally interfere in other countries when they believe there is a strategic gain but not ok for other countries to do likewise?
  I fail to see how they are different. But I am not a geopolitical expert, maybe one of the Kiwibloggers here can enlighten me.

India/China and Pakistan/Afghanistan come to mind at the moment. We could also think of the whole of the Middle East and Ireland. Islands are easier. The USA and Canada do quite well.     The fact is, Russia is not behaving any differently than the US has in recent decades in the middle east. They even backed a coup in Ukraine in 2014 which was really the beginning of this conflict. The only reason for the double standard (assuming they perceive one) and why people are wailing about Putin doing it is because they still take their cue from the corporate media, don’t think for themselves, and don’t understand geopolitics.
    
    While some dullard accused me yesterday of “carrying water for Putin” the reality is that I am fairly indifferent to either side, and thus I can assess events from an objective position and with the needed context.

      The problem for the Russians is that they are not only fighting the Ukraine military, but also a highly motivated populace who are willing to join the fight.
      
      Even if Russia do manage to capture some of the major cities, which is proving very difficult for them at the moment, they will be locked into a long guerilla war that will eventually bleed them dry.
      
      Russia has offered negotiations without preconditions.

I’m simply pointing out years of hypocrisy. I don’t take sides. Never have and never will. I look at what’s in front of me and form an opinion based on the best information available.     Well, what the world is seeing is just how damn GOOD the Americans military are. People talk about technology, weaponry numbers advantage etc, but most do not realize how hard it is to invade a large geographic country like Iraq or Ukraine and the logistics behind it. The yanks are totally integrated and an absolute unbeatable conventional war machine. How they combine their assets to clear out the enemy using fast air, choppers,
    artillery, shoulder fired missiles and small arms is brutal. All well fed and gassed up even 500 miles from their FOB, And that’s after they have cleared out command and control with cruise missiles, Spec Ops guided strikes, and stealth jets. The Russians are looking disorganized inexperienced and lacking these tactical and strategic planning and integration. One amoured vehicle ran out of gas 18ks into Ukraine, that’s a clown show! The other major deficit is their will to fight. My call is that Putin is toast. This was a major blunder and it’s just how he goes down, let’s hope he dosnt go down a scorched earth approach. Somehow the West need to let him lose with Mana, so he can still look strong. Just because you have better mukitary capability on paper, dosnt mean u will win.       Putin’s ultimate demise will not be on the battlefield. It will be at home. Despite upgrading his military over the past 20 years, Putin did not learn from the USSR’s other big failure, Afghanistan. Despite the sugar coating of the withdrawal in 1989, the Soviets were never forgiven by the Manas and the Babushkas who had lost sons and grandsons during that conflict.
      
      Reports that this conflict is going even worse for Putin in 4 days. Also, the fact the Russians are steadfastly refusing to admit loses, says Putin will have riots in Russia when the families find out what has happened to their sons.

      The US military is not the same beast as it was 20 years ago, just as the Russians are not either. One has declined, the other has ascended. Battalions of American transsexuals taking out a few Arabs and blowing up a few school kids with drone strikes is not really in the same league as taking out the Russian army. In recent years, the Russians cleaned up the situation in Syria, whereas the US ran away from Afghanistan.

        1. Used Bush’s war on terror to wage war against Chechen separatists in Russia;
        2. Aided Russian separatists in Georgia for an independent Russian enclave in Abkhazia (2007/08);
        3. Annexed Crimea from Ukraine (2014);
        4. Has been actively supporting Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine with weapons and Russian army divisions;
        5. 2018 Sent force’s to Syria to support the Assad regime;
        5. 2021 sent Russian commandos to Belarus to fuel tensions further arising from the migrants that were being transported to Belarus from the Middle East and then being transported to the Lithuanian border;
        6. Jan 2022 Putin sent troops to Kazakhstan to support his ally and puppet government in a “peacekeeping mission”.
        
        Not to mention the targeted killings of opponents in and outside of Russia.

  Russian military doctrine is that if you are losing the conventional war then you “escalate to de-escalate” by using tactical nukes on the battlefield to force your opponent into an armistice.
  
  Putting nuclear forces on high alert is a first step in that process. The tactical nukes aren’t kept in the regular army ammunition stores – they’re in the nuclear forces stores. So raising the alert includes saying “get ready to move out and deliver tactical nukes to the conventional forces”.
  
  It does also tell the land-based strategic nukes (ICBMs) to leave their barracks and disperse into the countryside.
  
  No one really knows just what he intends with this message. It is a warning shot at NATO. It is also a sign that Russia thinks its losing the conventional war and might need to force a standstill.
  
  And no one seems to know what NATOs response would be to Russia using tactical nukes on Ukraine.

Cardiologist Harvey White is warning of the long Covid effects of getting omicron, with the likelihood of increased risks of heart disease, strokes etc. Could anyone shed light on this? He is, of course, encouraging people to get the 3rd vaccine dose, but given the fact that fully vaccinated people are contracting the virus does this argument hold water? This is a genuine question. Aren’t we all likely to get omicron, irrespective of whether we are vaccinated or not? Or would the 3rd vaccination reduce the chances of getting long covid?

      And the fact that the long covid symptoms are exactly the same as the “rare” side effects of the vaccine is also a coincidence. While only a small percentage of people experienced side effects from the initial vaccine is it possible that others will have side effects 6 to 12 to 18 months later? It’s can’t be the Vax, Pfizer said so, must be long covid.

    My prediction is that myocarditis caused by the vaccine will be called long covid and blamed on the virus.
    
    I would like to know what proportion of genuine long covid patients have vitamin D serum levels above 40 ng/ml.
    
    I would expect people with adequate vitamin D levels to be less likely to have long covid.

      Would be interesting to see how long covid effects the unvaccinated vs the vaccinated, maybe it is only the unvaxxed getting long covid, after all the Vax is safe, proven and effective and your worse off without it right?. One thing is for certain and that is if you are not vaxxed you have no chance of getting myocarditis or stroke causing blood clots from the vaccine, because you didn’t take it. If you’re unvaxxed does this increase your chances of getting long covid and experiencing the same effects as are known to be caused by the Vax?

    That could be due to secondary reasons like stress and people putting off medical care, but could also be directly due to Covid, White said.

    I have a personal grievance with Bill Gates and Microsoft (who’s culture he basically built). They accused me of stealing their IP, then charged people using my software in Android some number of $ in licensing costs. Microsoft probably ended up making somewhere between $100M and $500M from my efforts – only slurring my name and me not getting a cent out of it. Thus it brings me some joy when I see the boot being put in.
    
    Still, having seen that interview, it is not that clear what Gates was trying to say.
    
    It was either:
    * He’s sad that Omicon is succeeding at something the vaccines failed to do. ie. He doesn’t like that the huge power play failed and was beaten by nature and the massive rivers of gold flowing into CV19 are going to end.
    – or –
    * He’s sad that the vaccine was not available worldwide to everyone within 6 months – thus meaning we relied on natural infection. ie. He was sad that the tech rollout failed.
    – or –
    * Maybe both. He has huge skin in the game and is a huge proponent of technology, so quite likely both.

  A friend’s sister has ‘long’ covid – a medical aftermath of covid, long enough after initial infection to be termed ‘long’ covid – and it is apparently extremely debilitating. It also seems rather random.
  
  Vaccination and a booster does appear to reduce the seriousness of illness – reduced viral load that may infect another, less serious illness – so less likely that hospitalisation follows, or death – but it seems that, as yet, there is no reliable evidence that vaccines reduce long covid.

  Why did 2000 more kiwis die during the period of the 2021 vaccination program for over 60’s than during the same period in 2020? During both periods there were almost no respiratory diseases circulating (and no covid). An almost identical pattern in Australia too. I would be happy if there was a benign science based explanation for why the very strong temporal correlation between these extra deaths and the covid vaccination program was just a coincidence and not causal, but almost no-one seems to be even aware that it happened and I have heard no commentary from medical establishment on it (and I have been looking). 2000 = 1 in 500 over 60’s

  The heart disease risk relates to the spike. These are produced in the hundreds of millions (if not billions) with each mRNA jab. As we now know, these don’t stay at the injection site but rather head off to accumulate in different organs, the heart and liver particularly. But also ovaries and some nasty leakage across the blood-brain barrier which is the source of a range of neurological conditions. A SARS-CoV-2 infection also generates these spikes, which is why heart damage can occur as part of Covid-19 illness. Illnesses such as myocarditis are quite rare in the general population, uncommon in those who have recovered from Covid-19, but more common as a result of vaccination. Honest researchers are still trying to understand why, while the captured/dishonest continue to keep their heads in the sand. There’s a good analysis of booster performance (Israel) against a control group (Gaza) here. Btw, what people really really want to avoid is having a jab and then getting Covid-19 soon thereafter. Your body works pretty hard to deal with those cytotoxic spike proteins, but a double whammy of the jab followed by an infection is pretty bad. My daughter can attest to that.

    kk – there is a period of immune compromise following the first jab. There are charts that demonstrate a rise in infection rate for the the first 21 days following the jab and even more worrying is that just under 50% of deaths that occur in the singly jabbed happen during this period – and are always counted as unjabbed deaths. It’s almost as if they new this was the case and thus allocated them to the unvaxxed to make things look worse for them.

  Get a tooth infection and it can cause long term heart damage.
  
  “Long Covid” is really just a marketing term to make CV19 seem more dangerous. The reality is that pretty much any disease has the potential to cause long term complications.

On a day-on, day-off roster due to Wokebola and watched our dear leader on three live for the first time. Is it just me or does Supreme Leader look frazzled and haggard? Forced smiles and frantic arm waving of course but the eyes looked nervous to the point of breakdown.

I am concerned we are going to have a mental breakdown very soon which, regardless of your politics is not a good look. 3 went soft and put Chan Green on the interview – Bridge would have been too much for her this morning.

    What I have found interesting is the general loathing of her, I don’t believe there has been a politician in my lifetime who has attracted anything like this level of hatred from a large chunk of the population. Sure there are her luvvies and the group that think she’s doing a good job. But then there is hatred.

  I am not an avid soccer fan, but I have long thought the penalty shoot-out a terrible way to decide a match. Here is my suggestion for a more equitable way:
  Have 5 minutes of extra time. If after that, no-one has scored a golden goal, the two goalies leave the field. Play another five minutes. If no goal is then scored, each team nominates a second player to leave the field. Rinse and repeat. As the player numbers decrease, I can guarantee it would not be long before a winning goal is scored, with the best team (rather than just the best goalie or shooter) the victor.

    The conversation turned to the subject of the Bill of Rights, and I asked them how it ranked relative to the Treaty in their view.
    
    At that point they went off big time, but not in the way I expected. They thought that the importance of the Treaty was overblown, and that it was misused.
    
    They referred to the well-known Maori proverb (whakatauki) He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. And they were adamant that he tangata was all New Zealanders equally.
    
    The proverb does not say He tangata whenua, nor does it say He iwi, and nor does it say He hapu. There is just one people.

  – Rising shipping costs bound to make more expensive the coal we import from Indonesia after closing most of our own coal mines. (Coal imports are about a million tons a year.)
  
  – Ardern torpedoing our development of local gas resources, and development of our own oil resources, too.
  
  – Often touted geothermal sources for generating electricity as subject to change and uncertainty as hydro power’s water storage.
  
  – We are too green and timid for nuclear power generation, and perhaps overly wary of the dangers from, first, NZ’s susceptibility to earthquakes and tidal waves, and second, from the fact that the biggest power market, Auckland, sits on a field of 50 or more volcanoes.
  
  – When diving international coal prices led to the demise of State-owned Solid Energy, the National Government threw out with the bath water the firm’s R. and D. baby of harvesting natural gas in our big coal reserves.

    Now, Reuters reports the Suez Canal Authority’s lifting fees 10 per cent.
    
    I couldn’t work out from the canal web site the range it might cost typical reefer vessels, of the type that carry NZ food exports, but I did notice the currencies the canal authority accepts: US dollars, pounds sterling, euros, yen, Canadian dollars, Swedish krona, Danish krone, Norwegian krone, Swiss francs, Chinese yuan.

Kapiti Observer: DOC failure behind estuary ‘sinkhole’:
Conservationist Chris Turver believes the Waikanae estuary is becoming a ‘sinkhole’ because DOC will not allow GWRC to maintain the river’s free flow into the sea.
Interestingly, a letter in the Gisborne Herald suggests a similiar type of problem there.
Turver believes it has lead to –
* Huge shingle banks in the lower river.
* Rising river level scouring banks and destroying marine habitat.
* Increasing residential flooding risk.
* Blocking navigation for even small vessels.
* Throttling movement of marine life.
* Trapping sediment and pollution in an extended estuary and creating the sinkhole effect.
The trapping of sediment, and its treatment, seems to be a problem throughout New Zealand.
It has recently been mentioned in relation to Westport flooding and low South Island skein river flows.

They are saying that sanctions on Russia,will effect their energy exports, but the White House is saying, that the sanctions are specifically designed NOT to.

Russia’s biggest export is fossil fuels, including to the USA……so
Biden has made them dependent on foreign oil again, after they worked so hard to be independent.

  Matters like the vaccine roll out are very mixed in terms of how much of a ‘success’ it might be seen to be. Ditto for RATs and PCR testing in application. Did it help, or was it needed? Yes. Could it have been much better? Yes.

  Not really the best sort of leadership critique by an editor with the benefit of hindsight.
  Surely people should be able to see what counted in our favour, what went well and what didn’t go so well.

The devil is in the detail.
I note that the Ardern junta have increased the Family Credit Abatement rate from 25% to 27%. It has progressively risen from 20% some years ago to the 27%. I think that is unjust on young families.
I note that the Family Credit Abatement threshold is merely $42,700 whereas a person on the minimum wage working 40 hours per week would earn $44,928.
I doubt whether this present junta could give a tuppenny stuff about the plight of low income earners.

A major research institution has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest chemical yet known to science. This new element has been tentatively named ‘Governmentium”
Governmentium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

Yesterday, maybe a few more days back, I semi-joked that this pathetic “pandemic” is looking more like a health plan.

According to the Minister of health, and Baker, the CV19 numbers are under-reported and the true numbers are probably 5x what is reported.

So around 340,000 people are now presumed to be positive.

On average, about 95 people die per day in NZ, so for a random group of 340,000 people we’d expect 6.4 deaths per day just from normal life.

Yet, out of that 340,000 positive only one death was recorded yesterday (and for other causes).

So, on the face of it, people with Omicron have a 6.4x lower chance of dying than people without Omicron.

And the numbers for hospitalisation follow a similar pattern. Three are 344 positives in hospital. That is about 1 per 1000. Yet for the whole of NZ there are about 2 per 1000 in hospital. Having Omicron means people are half as likely to be in hospital as the general public!

It really is looking like a health option. Not much of a pandemic!

C’mon folks, it’s bullshit to call this a pandemic any more!

Herald, breathlessly: 17 protestors were found to be positive!

There are approx 1000 protestors (depending on various variables and how you measure).

According to Little and Baker, around 340,000 NZers are positive – about 6.8%.

For any random group of 1000 people you’d then expect 68 to test positive. So it would seem that with 17 testing positive they’re less infected than the general population.

Even if we take Baker and Little’s 5x multiplier out of the picture, they’re pretty much on par.

Herald is spreading more disinformation.

I personally don’t really buy too much into the $105 million bought-and-paid-for line, but I DO believe that we simply cannot trust the media to report fairly, without bias and in a neutral manner. They have agendas – Stuff is one of the worst, but credit where it’s due, at least they’re open about it – and they follow those agendas.
    
    Is it really any wonder that so few people trust the media wholeheartedly? A news story can be completely accurate and truthful as far as it goes, but careful selection of the angle taken, the facts included and – more importantly – the facts omitted, the adjectives used; all these can be used to portray a situation in exactly the way the reporter wishes.
    
    A Gallup poll from October 7, 2021 showed that “Americans’ trust in the media to report the news fully, accurately and fairly has edged down four percentage points since last year to 36%, making this year’s reading the second lowest in Gallup’s trend.” 36%!     Yip. Yip. That is what it is. But it seems to be in direct conflict to the legal ruling on the illegal police mandates for which they provided no evidence that it stopped transmission. Seeing another major right of the unvaxxed is being breached shouldn’t we be privy at least to the science and cabinet papers that disport this decision and show that it is a reasonable and neccessary restriction.
    
    If we look at Ministry of Health website on Transmission they say, “The Pfizer vaccine (Comirnaty) is effective at reducing the number of people who get COVID-19 (Really!!! I don’t think so citation needed), Recent studies show that the Pfizer vaccine can reduce transmission of the virus. These studies looked at the number of people infected with COVID-19 after they’d been vaccinated and their close contacts.”
    
    And then they provide a link to some small studies from May 2021. Alpha variant. They have no recent studies from Delta or Omicron phase showing it reduces transmission. And it isn’t effective at reducing the number of people who get covid.”

We are being played here folks. All this “going to reduce the mandate in time” talk is a sleight of hand/distraction.
Their real goal is via the vaccine passports, and that is why all the new reg’s for tourists etc keep referring to the fully vaxxed only. The vaxxed are now the same as the un-vaxxed for all intents and purposes from a health perspective.
Notice how they don’t even know or care if fully vaxxed includes the booster, as that is not the goal.
The goal for them (World Economic Forum) is to have a universal digital I/D, and that is why you won’t see the vax passports go ever.
We must resist the digital i/d, which will become digital currency, or we will lose many more rights and freedoms.

UK has been doing free RAT tests since April 2021, but since then they have had their biggest case outbreak ever. I don’t know why it didn’t help with case numbers, but it didn’t. Where is the science on the effectiveness of RATS as a national strategy. Are RATS more effective than just staying home when you feel sick.
