Radio NZ guilty of disinformation.

On Morning Report this am, its reporter referred to bussy as a term for a male anus.

Of course, that would be mussy.

MR is deliberately downplaying the seriousness of Doyle’s post.

I never thought I’d be saying this, but bring back one of the lying thieves who previously represented the Greens. At least they are not (description omitted in the interest of decency).

  Hosking this morning had Peters on. They talked about the ferry then switched to the Benjamin Doyle situation.
  
  Hosking berated Peters for showing interest in the issue “when we have so many other problems”. Hosking cares little for any issue that does not make GDP line go up.
  
  Hosking also said we know what the Greens are, but wrote them off as simply being weird. He thinks Doyle’s behaviour is apparently typical of Greens, but not worthy of correcting.
  
  He did not seem to appreciate that Doyle’s boss Swarbrick is essentially defending Doyle and attacking the complaint not the cause of the issue.

      Best solution – start commenting about Doyle on every other MSM article no matter the context. Ultimately, the MSM will either need to allow the debate to happen or disable commenting on every article.

  I hope I am not out of order for raising it, but I wonder what is the actual situation with the alleged ‘death threats’. One would think from media reports that a torrent of death threats was received causing the MP in question to stay home this week and the Greens asking Parliamentary Services to boost security. This caused me to imagine police officers with Bushmasters surrounding Parliament, something which would upset Tamatha Paul. No doubt the Police would try and identify the source of any real threats and lay charges under the Crimes Act (threatening to kill). Perhaps one or two were received, not a torrent. But it did seem to be a gift from heaven (or hell?) for Ben, Chloé and the Greens.
  So allegedly receiving death threats (even one or two) opens up PR opportunities to deal with an otherwise awkward situation.
  My take is while Winston was a bit short on hard facts he saw an opportunity to make some mischief and sure did.
  No Parliamentary questions on this today, but there are several ‘open’ questions where this matter could be raised as a supplementary.

    These alleged death threats do seem a little bit convenient. To my mind, there are only two explanations for Doyle’s social media posts.
    1. In part of the rainbow community it is just risqué humor to post photos of your kids tagged with “bussy” “eggplant (erect penis) emoji” and the blue swirl associated with pedophiles.
    2. In all likelihood there is serious child abuse going on. I find this explanation more probable.
    Now the MSM have tried to shut down this story and make it about Winston, death threats and homophobia. My guess is that Doyle will resign this week due to the alleged threats. And maybe in a year or so an abuse case will make it through the courts with all details suppressed in order to protect the abused child.
    Just speculation of course.

      [1] Making it look like the person who reports the ‘crime’, is the perpetrator/bully, while the ‘criminal’ is the victim.
      
      [2] Claiming ‘fake’ death threats to make it look like the ‘criminal’ is the victim.
      
      [3] “Real” threats, but taken out of context, that are to be expected in response to real damage done. e.g. A young girl of 13 is raped repeatedly by a rapist. The mother, very upset and outraged the rapist escapes a jail sentence, and says to friends in a pub out of exasperation, “I’d love to chop his dick off”. Incident is recorded and reported out of context as a “death threat with mutilation.”

A Taumarunui Maori tribe has received an apology from the Government for bringing “discord, death and division” to its people.
Ngāti Hāua signed a deed of settlement on Saturday after years of negotiations over redress for historical breaches of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Treaty Negotiations Minister Paul Goldsmith delivered an apology to some 400 people at the marae for Crown actions he said had caused harm and prejudiced Ngāti Hāua for over a century.

“The Crown is greatly sorry that it did not live up to the promise of teTiriti/the Treaty, and instead brought discord, death and division to your iwi,” Goldsmith said. “The Crown is deeply ashamed of and sorry for the horrific and reprehensible execution of your tūpuna in 1846, and profoundly regrets that its behaviour toward Ngāti Hāua in the 1840s sowed deep and well-deserved mistrust of the Crown.”

No doubt this tribe was badly treated. Over the years kings, government, lords and chiefs have behaved abominably. My own family was treated very poorly. The Highland Clearances forced my family off its land and eventually my great grandfather immigrated to NZ in 1872. His son died in 1918 of influenza, brought to NZ by a government party’s travel, so our Mangere farm was lost. My grandmother raised four children by herself. She probably felt some resentment but I don’t – it was 107 years ago.

My father and his three brothers just knuckled down and got on with it. They had no land, just the determination to get jobs, raise their families as best they could and contribute to society where they could. One died promptly from cancer, another opened a shoe shop, the bookmaker below became a freezing worker and eventually a Vesteys manager and one worked for the Auckland Harbour Board. They were active in the Labour Party, the theatre and sports administration – a typical Otahuhu family of the day. The 30 or so grandchildren include teachers, doctors, engineers, nurses, business owners, IT specialists, a Dame, a radio sports broadcaster and members of the armed forces. Not one is unemployed. None. The only benefits they get are the OAP. None have been in prison, although one of the brothers was fined a fiver for bookmaking in 1938.

One of the reasons my family feels no resentment is that there’s no incentive. Moaning about the clearances or the flu would get nobody anywhere. Moaning about the ToW is worth a poultice.

Which is not to downplay the shoddy treatment Maoris got in the 1860s and 70s but it was a long time ago. Opportunity has now knocked. Let’s get over it. Pay the compo, recognise the hurt and then close down the Tribunal and put the grievances where they belong, in history. A new dawn.

    They happen, David, no point in trying to change them. They make me cringe but I’ll get over it. My big message is “full and final” fully and finally. That’s the issue! And that means no more Tribunal and no more special positions – anywhere – based on race. No Maori wards or deputy Vice Chancellors or iwi appointments to Council committees and so on.

      There were apologies made and full and final settlements for these wrongs in the early 20th century. Some of these tribes are on their 4th or 5th full and final settlement for the same events. You can’t blame them though, if every time you extended your hand it was stuffed with cash, why on earth would you stop?

      They left with nothing except a scratched up amount of money to get them on a sailing ship to here.

      Is he really receiving the same scrutiny? Barely any articles that are not sympathetic or trying to minimise the sicko’s posts. If Doyle was in the National, ACT or NZ First parties journalists would be parked out front of his house and hounding him.
      
      The MSM is supportive of Doyle’s posts. Hell, at the end of Luxon’s press conference some of the journalists sounded more concerned that Doyle had been mis-gendered instead of what looked like grooming posts.

    Perhaps someone thought that ‘very sorry’ was no longer strong enough and that ‘incredibly sorry’ was likewise impaired by overuse, as well as too suggestive of its literal meaning.

  mrspdm’s family were victims of Clearances in the Tongue/Melness/Talmine area of Northern Scotland in the 1870’s/1880’s. They lost a slate making business among other business interests during that time.
  
  My father left the Isle Of Lewis in the mid 1920’s and came to New Zealand because there was no farming work for him on the Island.

    Over the past decade the Greens have had more scandals and cases of bad behaviour than any other Party. And its even worse considering their number of MPs compared to the Nats and Labour. Yet still they get 10% support.
    Those that support them either agree with their behaviour or dont care. Either way they are as bad as the Party MPs and its members.
    I hope the scandals and bad behaviour continues. If Labour dont rule out a Coalition with the Greens hopefully some fringe Labour supporters will defect to the Nats or abstain.

        My guess is that its the 18 y/o vote. Young people think its cool to be Green. One of my grand-daughters who lived in Wokington voted Green when she was 18. The following election, realised how stupid she was previously, & voted National. (a bit better ).

      On the matter of Coalitions IMHO if a Party rules out going into Coalition with another Party and subsequently does so then that Party should suffer a financial penalty for misleading voters.
      Its time we put an end to the fast and loose Parties play with voters. If they know their Party funds will be severly depleted it may stop them lying to voters.

        All parties should have to pick a side before the voting period begins. The side that gets more than half the MPs then automatically forms a government.
        
        That would completely eliminate the use of the ‘coalition agreement’ as a way to back out of promises made during the election campaign.

  Present day Maori are breaching the terms of the treaty by engaging in domestic terrorism of the general population.

      That is not correct. It refers to “rights and privileges”, not duties.
      
      Article Three states: “In consideration thereof Her Majesty the Queen of England [sic] extends to the Natives of New Zealand Her royal protection and imparts to them all the Rights and Privileges of British Subjects.”

        That depends on which version you read. The translation of the Maori version by Sir Hugh Kawharu uses the term “duties”. In any event, the rights and privileges of British subjects in 1842 were predicated on an acceptance of the sovereignty of the Crown and implicit in that is an acceptance of the obligations of a British subject to, for example, obey the law, which was always promulgated under the authority of the reigning sovereign.

  Now that you mention it, I also have some issues.
  Two great uncles were sent to Gallipoli by the Govt and never returned. Another uncle was sent to England in 1938 to fly for the RAF, and never returned. My great grandmother died when my father was 3, from the Spanish fever, imported to NZ by servicemen in 2018 returning from Govt business overseas. This wrought havoc on my family, children shunted off to aunts, boarding schools with all their horrors, resulting in untold psychological traumas that I and my family must still suffer today.
  There are, no doubt, various other Govt-induced deprivations I and my whanau have suffered, eg Corporal punishment.
  The more I think of it, the worse my suffering appears.
  
  So where is my apology and reparation ?

  What confuses me is that the Ngati Haua apology was made at Taumarunui. I understood that the five Ngati Haua marae were at Raungaiti (near Waharoa), Tauwhare, Waimakariri (near Tauwhare), and Rukumoana and Kai-A-Te-Mata both of which are near Morrinsville.
  I understood that Taumarunui was in the Maniapoto area. Indeed, the Maori Land Court in Hamilton is referred to as the Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Land Court.
  Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than me will correct me.

When you see people in NZ protesting on behalf of Gaza and quite frankly Hamas, it can be instructive to remind ourselves who Hamas really are. And we don’t need to cast our minds back to the horrific attack on Oct 7th. We can just look at how they treat their own people now. This is who Hamas are, how they treat their own citizens:

      [1] On the left, there is no such thing as personal responsibility. So when someone calls out bad behaviour of an individual, they deflect the valid communication by claiming it is an attack on a group, culture, race etc that the individual belongs to.
      
      [2] Swarbrick is defending Doyle for a number of reasons.
      
      (a) Doyle as a malfunctioning human being, was on the the party list, as managed by her and the party. She has to defend the list process. If she was to hold him to account, and be honest with herself, and reflect honestly on all the bad eggs the list has dished up, she would have to start doubting the Green List, and party in General.
      
      (b) She agrees with Doyle stance that essentially they can do whatever the hell they like or feel, and should not be held to account.
      
      After all, morals and decency are ‘so last century and colonial’. ‘Life should be a “free for all”, with no restrictions on sexual deviancy, no police, and no drug laws.’

      An analogy might be rape. . . Not a perfect analogy but it somewhat works.
      
      Rape often features in sexual fantasy – especially among women for what that’s worth. All theoretically OK provided sexual fantasies about rape remain fantasies, while actual rapes are illegal and prosecuted as far as practical.

      “PM pans attacks on MP’s words” ,story by Jamie Ensor .Can you believe it includes the line “Peters wouldn’t use the correct pronouns for Doyle yesterday” wtf ! 1984 right there , from our leading newspaper .
      
      The editorial also touches on it , in a broader context of this weekend displaying a number of instances under the headline “Intolerance mars political landscape”
      and again the editorial uses the “proper pronouns” ( which aren’t the proper pronouns) for Doyle as “them or their family”.
      
      Again 1984 stuff .
      
      Last was Audrey Youngs ;
      “Where is the old Green Party ” which was a defence of the media not rushing to print the story ( legal and sensitivity issues being considered ,working on it ) , an attack on keyboard warriors , but she did excoriate Doyle for his posts and Swarbrick in particular for being out of touch for basically defending him.
      
      Concluding she writes ;
      ‘The voting public will know that the Green party of James Shaw is a distant memory. It used to be a party that could appeal equally to the hippies in the Aro valley and the housewives of Remuera. Now it is hard to know who they appeal to.”

        G : What “pressure”? I had the jackals camped outside my house – they stayed there even after I resigned…They followed Aaron Gimore everywhere he went – I truly believe they hoped he would suicide – until he could take it no more and resigned.
        
        What evidence do you have that this freak of nature – and that’s what IT is – is under any kind of pressure? It’s gone to ground somewhere…but as my case attests, they could find him pretty easily if they tried (we left a friends holiday house in the middle of the night because we – my then wife and I – were tipped off that the jackals would be there in the morning. My children were 8 and 4 at the time. My major concern was protecting them. And protecting the jackals from my Tongan wife, who would have dropped any who approached the kids).

Sources close to the Beehive are claiming that the Prime Minister is believed to be canvassing shifting Parliament further north. Pukekohe and Coatsville are being discussed. Polling shows Luxon could pick up at least two points by shifting the Beehive closer to Auckland. Not all National MP’s were polled.

Te Pati Māori President Tamahere is offering land in West Auckland to help shore up his deteriorating balance sheet although Waikato’s Tuku Morgan suggested land is cheaper in Ngāruawāhia.

Apparently, Wellington’s failure to retain its liveability is a factor.

Meanwhile the MP for West Otago is checking real estate opportunities in Queenstown for a site for a South Island Parliament.

The owner “… said people paid 40 percent for the human element for a meal at a restaurant compared with the price of food..”

I’d say the food cost is the least of the bill, and that is quite reasonable taking into account all the overheads. One factor influencing eating out less often is probably the wide variety of meal kits available. Although they do require the at-home human element, there seems to be an increasing trend towards pre-prepped ingredients and minimal time to the table. Like 15 minutes is now common.

Though that doesn’t include dishes. So there’s that.

I see the muppets from The Maori Party are having a tantrum about the privileges committee and refusing to attend. Honestly these people are becoming so tiresome, my daughters had more maturity and resilience when they were primary school students! 1 News tonight covered the Benjamin Doyle story a bit more, and – somewhat surprisingly – have actually started asking some pertinent questions.

They showed the infamous post by Doyle of his child tagged with the “eggplant (erect penis) emoji” and even explained what it stood for. They asked whether the Greens had a problem with vetting their people. And they talked about an email that they had been copied into, from an irate gay woman lambasting Chloe Swarbrick over tarring the entire gay community when she said that some language used by minority groups may not be well understood by others. Ms Swarbrick dodged the media and left Marama Davidson to try and defend this awful slur.

I still find it doubtful that much more will happen – but at least some of the media are kind of asking a few questions.
