This is a Labour Justice Minister
Two years after it happened, we finally have a summary of the Police notes about what happened when then Justice Minister Kiri Allan crashed her car under the influence of alcohol. Key aspects are:
- Verbally abused officers who were arresting her
- Grabbed hold of shrubbery” to avoid being moved to a police car at the crash scene.
- Claimed she wrote the law
- Refused to accept a court summons after being detained
- Slated charges against her as a “political stunt”
- Demanded to speak to senior police officers and Police National Headquarters
- Said that she wouldn’t leave the station until the court summons “disappeared”
This is far far worse than what was known at the time. To have Labour’s Justice Minister demand that police make the court summons disappear and demand that she speak to Police National Headquarters is inexcusable – regardless of emotional state. This was an attempt to be above the law.
