“I’m running this show”

November 9th, 2007 at 3:53 pm by David Farrar

I missed the House on Wednesday but I’ve had a couple of gallery journalists tell me that there was a priceless moment as David Cunliffe declared “I’m running this show”. The segment has found its way onto You Tube so enjoy:

Let these words come back to bite the bastard. And they will With the continual FUs in Health how can they not.

I see the that useless bint trying to run Capital Coast DHB is on the way out. Now they just need to get rid of the equally useless Chair Dr Aitken and get some real governance in there instead of the hopeless shambles.

Why is it that DHB Boards and CEOs have a total inability to deal in a mature manner with the medical staff. Why do they regard it as a war that they have to win. Why are all of them graduates form the KGB School of Charm and Deportment

How long until the next crisis in health? And how long before the opposition are able to dump it all on Cunliffe, because “I’m running this show”?

Interesting also that Clinton is the subject of attacks from both directions, i’s not just a Democrat vs Republican thing

“Still, Clinton has been the biggest target by far, attacked by the left because of her centrist positions and by the right for her association with President Bill Clinton.’

Glenn Hurowitz, a Democrat from D.C., is one of the group’s newest members. A few weeks ago, the 29-year-old started Democratic Courage, a political action committee aimed solely at fighting Clinton.

“Fact is, the general population hasn’t tuned in to this election yet, and the more people tune in, the more they’ll know about Hillary Clinton, the less likely she’ll get the nomination,” said Hurowitz. “That’s the beauty of the Internet. What might be bad for the candidates is good for people like me . . . trying to have an impact.”

And it can also back fire – e.g. the General Betray-us business from moveon.org apparently didn’t do the Democrats any favours.

“Many Democratic strategists were privately furious at the group for launching an attack on a member of the military rather than Bush, arguing that it gave Republicans a point on which to attack the Democrats and to rally around the administration’s war policy. The displeasure underscores the uneasy alliance between MoveOn and the party. MoveOn, after its rather guerrilla start, has increasingly become part of the Democratic establishment in Washington. It has donated money and lent its Washington director, Thomas Mattzie, to a coalition of liberal groups with major funding from wealthy donors that organizes in an office on K Street to promote opposition to the war.”

Thanks, Sam. Perhaps we can return focus to the man with the actual ministerial warrant, and who might like to bring a little more to the table than macho swaggering. Not least because there’s at least a dozen women in the house who do the bitchy butch routine so much better…

    No lee
I certainly am not, I would certainly not link to a you tube video that has any connection with that oaf “Whaleoil” He does the right a disservice.

After visting his train wreck of a site he would appear to have unnatural preoccupation with Clarke( there are twenty or thirty jpgs of her there)

The kill the Bill site is an embarrassment and if the National party are going to be seen as a credible alternative Government, it has to distance itself from losers like that.
The left are winning in the blogging stakes and the right need to lift their game. To this end, it may be necessary to come down hard and ban people like Rdbaiter Adolf Fiinkensein and D4j from this site to lift its credibility.
If we are not careful we are staring at another 3 years in opposition

I don’t know what you guys see against red baiter

Do you not understand underlying currents.

They are where people from the age of 10 start looking for the truth.

Red may come across as arrogant and crude, butr his message is very real.
Have nothing to say on Adolf and Cacofinix has no underlying current,,
unfortunaterly he’s a strong swimmer and thrives on making waves.

Fortunately, most of us are above those waves and arms and legs get tired,, he he.

Thankyou for a perfect example of what I was illustrating

Take those Rose coloured specs off, visit Whaleoil and the KTB site and tell me how selling t shirts featuring Clarkes head on Stalins body make us lok credible It just bloody childish
or how putting a young 15 yr olds head on a a sexual explicit photo, helps the cause.
We need to start winning arguments and being credible. The right blogosphere is not doing that.

    Lee I don’t know.
i think we take along deep breath and start thinking about a winning strategy for the 2011 election,
The 2008 one is probably lost .
The Labour party have outmaneuvered us in the election spending stakes and the current front bench who are looking tired, and the leader inexperienced.
The ghost of Hager will loom large over the 2008 election There is no escaping that the previous leader Dr Brash although taking us to within a whisker of winning was forced to leave because he was caught lying. A very sorry state of affairs
    Sorry to sound pessimistic.
We need to work on fostering links with other parties, get a credible online presence , and be honest about who we are and what we stand for.

Tane the other day you were saying it was gay porn, jeez bro make up your mind on which inflammatory label you think will have the most impact and stick with it.
Like most blokes on this blog James Sleep at the age of 15 should have woken up to the pleasures and benefits of the five knuckle shuffle by now and if he hasn’t then Whales photo might provide a useful pictorial reference from which to base future experimentation.

I don’t think he was wrong to say “I’m running the show”, in the sense that many have said it’ll come back to bite him. He is Minister, he is ultimately responsible. All Ministers are. I’m glad he’s facing up to it. A Minister who avoids making the call that he’s in charge would be a coward.

In less than 1 week Cunliffe has raised the bar in respect to Ministerial responsibility. In doing so, and in the space of one sentence, he has painted himself into a corner. Having stated that he is running the show, he has opened himself up to being the fall guy in a portfolio that can only be a political minefeild.
