Relaxing at the Viaduct

Well I’m stuck up in Auckland for a few hours with nothing to do, so a dozen of us are having an early Christmas break and having drinks for a few hours at a mate’s apartment at the Viaduct. A nice relaxing day. Don’t expect any more blogging today!

DPF..
You just put this up to detract a lil from the bill board thread.
There was no way there was going to be any more blogging today.
There’s enough ammo to go till breakfast and Marcus lush in the morning.

I would like to join you as I am exhausted and feel like some time out from all the stress our politicians are giving me.

Rilly?
Where did you go then phantom?

If you have a friend with a view like that then he/she is clearly a rich prick and should be sent packing from this country asap. What use are tax payers and productive people – all they do is complain about being silenced for 1/3 of the electoral cycle so that the real business of distorting the election can go unchallenged.

Man lucky – beats Auckland yesterday – it was pouring down.
My flight was delayed because they couldn’t get people off the plane because of the rain.
Those billboards must also be bringing fine weather with them.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
Views like this are the best reason to keep politicians out of Auckland.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
Yes well I am still waiting for my invitation

On top of the Loaded Hog?
December 19th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
Next door to the Hog. Has been a scorching afternoon.
James – my flight wasn’t delayed but I was. I was meant to fly up at 6.30 am and slept through it – caught the 8.30 instead.

I don’t understand why he thinks we care. Why does he feel the need to post about every party he goes to? Is he trying to prove he has friends?
I’m not trying to be mean, though I feel it will come off that way, but seriously why bother?
December 19th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Redbus, mate. Even tho you are named after something big, lumbering and not particularly liked doesn’t mean that you have to think like that.
It’s a blog. People who write blogs tell things to others who care to listen and share what they do and what they think. That is their purpose.
Wake up and smell the diesel.

Dave has a clear sense of a seachange “begining of the end for Hulun” with the ELB passage.
Some drinkees are in order.

I am a new blogger – what does waiting moderation mean?
December 19th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
yes with a view like that you must surely have ‘rich prick’ friends and a new law must be introduced banning more than 1,000 words of political discourse per day during every second day of every third year and no spending more than $3 on a takeaway coffee. Oh and by the way, keep you businesses going and paying t
December 19th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
… (it cut me off) … keep your businesses going and paying your taxes because we haven’t got a clue how to generate any income for anyone ourselves.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
except by tax theft
December 19th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
Ah Ha you “rich pricks!” When the tsunami arrives, you will be the first Capitalists to drown. Love and kisses. M. Cullen.

“Has been a scorching afternoon.”
Your lucky David, Its been bloody freezing all day here in Wellington!
December 19th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
David, looking at all the uproar about this bill,
a question, should left wing governments have
the right to govern if they have the majority
as required by most democracies?
Or are there different rules for left wing governments?
Chile in the seventies comes to mind.

Saw you on TV tonight Mr. Farrar with your billboards. You’re a hero, and you and the other members of your Free Speech Coalition deserve a medal. You may not have succeeded in your objective of killing the bill, but you almost certainly have engineered the eventual downfall of the corrupt gang of totalitarian socialists who presently hold power in NZ. Well done.

Lots of arseholes start off being elected grumpyoh.
Hitler, Chavez, Hillary perhaps.
A majority does not allow you to shoot red headed babies or operate outside a societies traditional values unless you go to an election seeking that mandate.
The GST is a good example, no mandate but the other party loved it too.
Unlike the EFB….which is gone with Hulun.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
perhaps Mr F. you will be to helen clark what bob jones was to muldoon
December 19th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Hulun will have the opportunity of putting this one to the people.
Joy.

Tina, you wouldn’t happen to be an Auckland University Law student, would y ou?
December 19th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
a little victory party is certainly in order, no matter how it came to be. have some well-deserved fun!
December 19th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
Bwaaaaa dog….wash your mouth out with Krug.
There’s not enough money in law.
And I need at least half the year free.
December 19th, 2007 at 11:18 pm
Not allowed to shoot ginga babies? When did they change the law?
December 19th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
How can you sit and drink when the world has just ended with the passing of the EFB.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:07 am
redbus: my friends do in fact find it useful to know what I get up to, via my blog – esp those overseas. That is one of the reasons people have blogs.
Yes most people come for the politics but this is not solely a political blog. It is my blog on politics, technology, and anything else I find interesting – TV, films, restaurant reviews etc etc.

Tina Im a bit worried that JK and the Nats may not repeal the Act We have seen this behaviour before. Making promises then breaking them the Nats did this in the 90s under Jimmy B over the old age pension means testing.
Dont believe ANY politcian further than you can kick their arses. they are born liars alll of them and they die lairs.

“Unlike the EFB….which is gone with Hulun.”
“Dont believe ANY politcian further than you can kick their arses. they are born liars alll of them and they die lairs.”
The second quote is the more realistic.
The EFB will not be gone, only Helen.
It may be ammended, but democracy as we know it will never again be complete in this country. Simply put, there has been a bloodless coup with no rebuttal frm a half asleep population who are too scared to lose a precious status quo that doesn’t exist.
“its life, but not as we know it Jim.”
December 20th, 2007 at 7:04 pm
gd, hin….of course you’re correct.
The state never voluntarily gives up power, the best hope is a highly modified version.
Sunset clauses on all legislation, there’s an idea.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
“Sunset clauses on all legislation, there’s an idea.”
Merry Christmas to yourself and your family Tina.
sunset clause sounds intriguing. so intriguing I don’t know anywhere its been instituted. Not even opposition parties have called for such a clause.
We could be MP’s in the same political party Tina. The non existent one that demands full democracy, transparency and accountability.
But tell me Tina, what are the serious flaws you see in the liberterianz and why aren’t they a valid option. or can you see them becoming a real social alternative to gaining back democracy.

hin….I’m flat out trying to anticipate how govts will influence economies.
That means only parties with a chance of forming govts are of much interest…small groups of honourable individuals like the libers are a great morale booster, but they are not players…IMHO.
