A Helen joke

April 22nd, 2008 at 6:47 am by David Farrar

The Dom Post reports how a joke told by Hillary Clinton about Helen Clark. She is slightly ahead of her time though by calling Helen the Former PM of NZ:

In what the Labour Party would hope is more ignorance than prophecy, Mrs Clinton described Helen Clark as “former prime minister of New Zealand”.

The gaffe came in a chummy interview with American magazine Newsweek, when journalist Karen Breslau asked Mrs Clinton for a joke: “Here’s a good one. Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand: her opponents have observed that in the event of a nuclear war, the two things that will emerge from the rubble are the cockroaches and Helen Clark.

Both Helen and the cockroaches share the same humility in that neither are too proud to rule over a pile of rubble.

Well, the cockroaches (and Helen) may survive — but if Clinton doesn’t pull off a big (and increasingly unlikely) win in Pennsylvania today, it looks like her campaign is going to be the irradiated rubble. And the junior senator from New York isn’t going to be crawling out from under it.

Still, you’ve got to love this line: “I say a lot of things – millions of words a day – so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement.” WTF does that mean?

Perhaps our “very good friend” Hilary has just finished reading Ian Wishart’s new book.

Her grasp of the PM is insightful to say the least!

PS. A more appropriate headline for this story would be Helen – A Joke

I don’t think it is funny at all for a person aspiring to be President of the United States to have said what she is reported as saying even though she might see some truth in it. No-one would expect Helen Clark with positions reversed to describe (ex!!) President George Bush Jr as a shining example of a special needs student even though she might see some truth in it.

My point is simply that Hillary Clinton is not a fit and proper person to be President of the United States.

It’s always worth going back to the orignial –

She’s reading things that people have e-mailed her that she stores on her BlackBerry. It’s not at clear whether the “former prime minister of New Zealand” comment is hers, the emailer’s or (an attempt at) editorial clarification.

These sorts of things take on a life of their own. A bit like Hillary claiming to be named after Sir Ed. She nerver did, what she claimed was that as a young girl her mother told her that story.

DPF Remember Hillary like all the candidates get briefings from the CIA. Shes just got a little confused ( just like a certain Labour Party President) when they outlined the destablisation plans.

Sorry to go off-topic for the briefest moment, but D4J – is your vocabulary that impoverished that terms like ‘lying bitch’ are the best you can muster to slander the Prime Minister? And heaven only knows what hides behind your ‘#’s…

Mr Demt Happy, I can assure you that every page I read in the book “Absolute Power ” I want too muster the courage and say what the hell to a two month ban,it wouldn’t be so bad, as I could happily construct a sentence describing Helen the horrible that would score me 1000 demerit runs and a long cold shower in the sin bin.

So Clark is supporting Obama. But I must correct the original report on calling it a gaffe. Things that Americans cannot be expected to know are by definition not gaffes.
