Peters on Radio

October 27th, 2008 at 10:32 am by David Farrar

Winston Peters is the (suspended on full baubles) Foreign Minister of New Zealand. Yet he refused to take part in the Radio NZ debate on foreign policy. That is amazing enough. I’d ask the Prime Minister what she thinks of a Foreign Minister who won’t debate foreign policy?

But having been too busy to debate foreign policy, he did find time to ring up Radio Live talkback and attack host Matthew Hooton, journalist Phil Kitchin and others.

I asked Matthew whether Winston actually provided any useful information such as a guarantee the money would go to Susan Couch, despite still being with the trust months after he announced it. Matthew laughed and I realised how ridiculous my question was – asking if Winston actually provided useful information.

I’ve read a couple of his speeches and I get the impression that he has difficulty stringing two rational thoughts together to form a statement.

I heard the call to Hooton on RadioLive in real time, the Poodle was inebriated (IMHO).

As long as at least 95.1% of voters don’t vote for his party on election day we’ll all be rid of him and his friends once and for all.

The clip of Muldoon slurring his way through the election announcement led to accusaitons he was drunk in charge of a country, is the tape of Peters slurring his way through his call to Hooton and King more proof he’s not fit for any baubles?

This was bizarrely defended by claims he was actually diabetic and was suffering an “episode”. Of course the response came that he was as diabetic as a newt that night!

    Actually,,

As mentioned, he is suspended foreign minister.

I guess he has taken that very literally and refuses to talk on foreign matters.

But will the day comes when he is refused to speak on anything…. and without the baubles.

I wonder when was the last time he actually spent any of his own money.

But that could of course be directed to the whole Beehive.

So chinny up Winnie, we not just dissin you bro ;)

    Peter Quixote says

Well I just came back from watching bullfights and late night Spaniards and I also had sunstroke so I decided to run Farrar through with the Quixote lance. Elsewhere.

The New Zealand economy and infrastructure has been declining steadily for three political terms, and by now it should really be a treasonable offence to vote for Labour.
Our NZ currency is in such crisis that tomorrow morning I have to transfer all our family money to $AUD.

So Why did NAT try to give the election away by forcing NZFirst to stay with Labour.
Why did Key and NAT just not leave Winston Peters and NZ First alone.
After all, the election was in the bag, Key appeals top a lot of New Zealanders, but most of all even New Zealanders were starting to see what a disaster Helengrand has been.

This is NAT strategy thinking, about six weeks ago..
Winston Peters has been caught lying and changing his mind like all Politicians, and the media hate him, and he will not retrieve his old Tauranga electoral seat.
We don’t need him, we can govern alone so lets retrieve the voters who would vote NAT if Winston faded away.
That is say 60% of voters for Peters would revert to NAT if he were removed from the political spectrum.

Now Rodney had a rush of blood to the SFO and Police over NZ First funding which nobody in NZ gave rats arse about.
NAT is still going on about in billboards and we all knows that every party except Green misused funding rules last time.
Upshot is as Peter Williams stated on TV there is no fraud, it’s a beat up, and people like Farrar are totally out of touch with reality in the middle class.
More people than ever are interested in Winston.

How many voters are spooked away from Winston toward NAT.
Maybe 20% and indeed this could take Winston out.
If it does the gamble will come off, because the public want that our PM be the leader of the party which gets the most votes.

Now dudes, PETER DONE Key has taken a major vote grabber here, but he is still outflanked by WINSTON.

MAORI Will remain independent I think, in spite of the ‘ joined at the hip to Labour’ comment. Individual MP’s of MAORI want independence, even though their constituents don’t.
If NAT Key thinks working with MAORI will be easier than working with WINSTON, he deserves to lose.. MAORI is racist.
MAORI wants foreshore ownership, tax privilege and social privilege.

WINSTON will send John Key to a new job in Switzerland.

    Ends pq

Just watching Winston on TV, and he claims that NZ were first in the world! In so many ways!

FFS it wasn’t the RWC for sure.

Maybe it was in Scampi Quotas for The cute and smart operators!

He has stopped sweating on camera. Isn’t pancake a wonderful thing!

After a decade in power they have no excuse. The Greens are even bigger bullshitters than Labour,

The worst thing is that the Gov.t deems to spend $40-50m on a ranch for dear leader to troll around, and

yet denies Herceptin for so many women!

    A real Animal Farm situation!

I herad the call from Winston to Radio Live just by chance in the 5 mins that I was listening to the Radio. He behaved like a drunken caller, rather than someone important being interviewed. He ranted and raved non-stop. He spoke in tangents and as always I really did not know what point he was trying to make. Immediately when he stopped, he hung up. No questions please.

He has simply lost the plot. When you want to hold the balance of power you cannot ring up a national radio station and try to outwit the host because they called you and F ‘n’ C. It shows a poor mental state that is not fit for a country. Just imagine what damage you could do to a country with such poor impulse control.

I did not watch the minor leaders debate as I cannot stand Winston. The more we ignore him, the more likely he will go away.

Rodney was excellent on the leaders debate, but unfortunately let himself down on Campbell Live, when he stated he “Hated Winston Peters” – I’d accept ‘dislike him’, but I dont think you do yourself any favours by stating you ‘Hate’ an opposition member, no matter how much of a crook Peters his!

I get where you’re coming from, Patrick, but have to admit a direct answer to a direct question was rather refreshing. I almost regret Mark Sainsbury didn’t call everyone in for a group hug, because after the rather strained expressions of mutual esteem from all sides it would have deliciously awkward.

Thought Peters was, shall we say, unusually subdued. Wonder if someone told Sainsbury to plug his spine in and the leaders were read the riot act in the green room? The results were somewhat stiff and stilted, admittedly, but at least you could hear the person who had the floor more often than not. (Whether they said anything worth listening to is another question.) The only person who made a total dick of himself was Jim Anderton, who quite often seems to be either interjecting (mostly on Hide and Dunne) or having a conversation with someone else.
