Whale Oil received this mystery fax. The sender though forgot the fax would identify it as coming from the North Shore City Council.

I don’t condone this attack. It’s sad that we see this type of thing from anyone, left or right. On the other hand, Whaleoil himself stoops to personal attacks and degrading comments, so its no surprise really he gets it right back.
Also, there’s no way a mayor would even be bothered sending out this fax. He’s got better things to do like perhaps…running a city?
It’s not very original though whoever sent it.

Have you got any evidence that the mayor sent this apart from that it may have originated on one of the dozens of fax machines owned by the North Shore City Council? Anyway, by DPF’s logic of late it is all Slater’s fault for releasing it.

How hard is it really to modify the header information in a fax machine. The header info cannot be trusted, unless there are other means of backing it up – such as perhaps matching caller ID information, and confirming the number provided via caller ID is the NSCC fax. More coroborating evidence is needed to be certain this came from North Shore City Council. Has anyone got actual NSCC faxes to compare it to and see if the header formatting matches? Till then it might just be some random pranster that knows who to modify fax header info (anyone with half a technical brain).

It takes all of 30 seconds to change the header info on a fax machine. I could send faxes now that would have whale and farrar chasing their cumulative arses all weekend because they’s “think” it was from each other.
[DPF: I am told the caller id matches. So you are the one thicker than sliced bread. But if in doubt why don't you ask teh Mayor if it was him - I doubt he would deny it - probably proud of it]

To verify see if you can get a copy of the esteemed mayor’s handwriting and compare – it should be similar….perhaps with a touch of slurr being sent late at night and all. Also friendly council staff should be able to assist with handwriting ID.
Porker the chances are the mad mayor wanted Whaleoil to know who it was from…..he is probably wishing he had a mayoral blog of his own so that he could nut off anytime WO comments on his bizarre conduct.

Whaleoil shoud ask for NSCC building swipe card records for that time under the OIA. It is possible that very few swipe cards would work in the wee small hours indicating the Mayor or a senior staff member being involved.

Thank you, thank you Billy Dorkface, you have confirmed (albeit unnecessary) just how stupid you are. While you could change the fax header you couldn’t change the phone number it came from, the best you could do is block the caller ID (at least I could, and I bet Whaleoil could, I have my doubts about you though). Would you take a simple test to measure just how thick you are? I’ll get the ruler and the two short planks.
The real reason this proves your stupidity though, is that regardless of whether you could change the fax header, it is apparent the fax header was not changed, which leads us to the sender being a) too stupid to think of it (which would lead us to believe the culprit was indeed the halfwit Whale thinks it is) or b) actually wanting Whale to know who sent it (yep, same conclusion).
