No money
April 30th, 2010 at 11:28 am by David FarrarPaula Bennett has highlight in a statement:
Social Development Minister Paula Bennett is strongly rejecting inaccurate claims made on TV3 news last night that she offered money to settle a privacy complaint.
“These allegations are completely untrue,” says Ms Bennett. …
“The subsequent story that money was offered by me to settle the complaint was unbalanced and untrue,” says Ms Bennett.
Ms Bennett says in this morning’s New Zealand Herald, the complainant was quoted as saying there had been no offer of money. When asked about the 3 News report, the complainant said: “None of that is true”.
So both Paula Bennett and Natasha Fuller have said the TV3 report was false, in relation to any offer of money. TV3 should apologise unless they have some proof.

Why the hell did Bennett go and meet this Labour loving bludger in the first place?
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 11:46 am
To apologise BB. She was wrong and stuffed up. It is good manners to do so.
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 12:00 pm
Like fuck she was wrong!
Bennett gained a lot of support for outing these bludgers, the person who decided it would be a good idea to apologise deserves a swift kick in the bum.

They are having a field day over at The Standard, most corrupt NZ government of all time etc. Short memories I guess, anyhow i am sure all will be revealed in good time.

Hello Billy
we missed you.
why don’t you sign in as your real name instead of LRO.
You missed two very important groups off of your list.
Our mothers and fathers.
In the case of the media, I think we should fine (seriously) and prosecute the individuals, maybe we’ll get some decent reporting then as they are being held to a standard.

Hands up everyone who gives a rats what they are tugging eachother off about at the labour party funded strandard. Labour think that being corrupt is a fucking goal and its only bad when other people do it. Someone show them the results of the last election because they seem to have missed it.

They deliberately ignore it Murray because to do otherwise they have to face up to what they are.

Yes she is owed an apology.
However I hope she learns well from this, what the experience of being under an unjust public spotlight is like.
Might influence her own judgments in future.

Proof by TV3 is John Campbell talking to a mannequin wearing a burka and using a dubbed voice who says it might have happened, somewhere, sometime, and Campbell advising us this is the real witness, live and up front.
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 1:10 pm
But the while thing hinges on the quote:
“The New Zealand Herald spoke to Ms Fuller, who responded to the TV3 story by saying “none of that is true”.
But that doesn’t appear on the Herald’s site – and the only other story I found could easily have just been repeating the press release.
Sorry, but this one looks pretty shaky to just dismiss such a serious complaint.

Anyone who listens to John Campbell should dontate their brains to science. Its not like they’re using them.

I kind of feel sorry for the stranded (the most favourable emotion I’ve ever had towards them to be honest). Here at last was some dirt they could really make a big fuss about and finally Labour could maybe get some traction out of. unfortunately for them it seems there’s no substance to it. Classic case of premature ejaculation, but oh so much fun to read the comments. Haven’t laughed so much since they thought Neelam Choudry was a ‘victim’.
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
Could Bennett go TV3 for defamation?
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
It’s sad to see how Campbell has fallen from a journalist of much promise to a peddler of pulp. He used to be almost a must watch, now he’s a must miss.

Given the total abscence of any journalistic competition in this country its not suprising.

Bennett gained a lot of support for outing these bludgers…
Many people hate beneficiaries and would like to pretend they aren’t citizens. Unfortunately for Bennett, they are citizens and they are covered by the Privacy Act.

First of all, I could not care less if TV3 have their facts right, I am not a cheer leader for this gutless government.
Your comment “many people hate beneficiaries” is the usual thing we hear from lefties who like to stretch the truth, I do not know anybody from the right or the hard right who has any problem at all with Pensioners, GENUINE sickness and invalids beneficiaries and those who through no fault of their own find themselves on the dole for a short time.
Where we do have big problems is in the number of full time DPB breeders and scum like Philip Ure who happily steal money from working Kiwis every week, the fact that Bennett exposed a few of these bludgers is a great thing.
Vote:April 30th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Natasha Fuller is an opportunist and a publicity seeker; The MSM seem very reluctant to examine her background and history (people in Tauranga who know her have plenty to say). When this issue was first publicized the MSM, ecouraged by the Labour Party, seemed keen to hang paula Bennet out to dry. As the labour pollies discovered Bennet is made of stern stuff and did not back down. The bullying has stopped.

…the fact that Bennett exposed a few of these bludgers is a great thing.
If, as you assert, this isn’t a matter of simple prejudice, I’d be interested to know how one develops such a finely-honed ability to distinguish between honest beneficiaries and “bludgers” based on seeing their name in the paper. Is someone confirmed as a “bludger” simply by virtue of having Bennett breach their privacy, or is there some more objective measure?

TV3 has just slithered out of the position they put themselves in yesterday – ‘we have the papers to prove the allegations’. The ‘papers’ were in fact face book entries by the fantasist Natasha Fuller, who now admits she made the story of compensation up.
Vote:How about TV3 asking Fuller how a solo mum can be on the DPB while at the same time living in a relationship with a man from whom she later claimed relationship property. (The claim failed because of an underestimation of the legal cohabitation time required to get the payoff.)
The Labour party wants to make something of this – things are really desparate.

It is probably worth repeating that Paula Bennet would have agreed to meet with Fuller after being requested to by the Privacy Commissioner to do so and in this case a request is an instruction. Face to face settlement is prefered to litigation. I know this may be unwelcome news to those who want to pour scorn on Bennet. The Left still seem to be outraged that Paula chose to move Right rather than Left – being a solo Mum (albeit with ambition). Their determination to pull her down with vitriol and invective says a lot about their humanity.
