Here’s a nice shot taken low, of a crocodile swimming towards me

Clicking on the image will bring up a larger version.

This animal was about 3 metres long and the photo was taken on the Mary River.
I liked this shot for the relatively light colouring of the scales, and the reflective effect in the water.

I get a creepy feeling just looking at the shot.
Which, I guess, is good from your point of view Chthoniid!

Great shot. I’d want a trigger not a shutter if this fella was swimming towards me!

MikeNZ & fredinthegrass- thanks- might add I was looking at these full-size shots on my LCD TV last night- it makes these smaller images look much less impressive.

kk- aah, that’s part of the thrill of photographing crocodiles- it’s matching your knowledge and skill with the crocs in their environment.

Great pic again Chthoniid! Thank you.

But it does remind me of China eyeing up the NZ dairy industry.

How did you see a crocodile that was only 3 meters long? Every tourist returning to Darwin after a trip out to Kakadu or the Adelaide River would report that their guide had pointed out multiple 5 and 6 and sometimes even 7 meter animals.

More power to ya Chthoniid! And it’s why I avoid croc stalking and base jumping :)

Other photos in the set show the tourist pointing at the crocodile and generally taking the piss.

    lol- so true.

I’ve probably seen a few hundred more crocodile than the average person, so have picked up some ability to accurately estimate size

I tell people that 5m crocs are like 2.1m tall humans… they’re REALLY big and you might see a couple a year, if you’re lucky. And 6m crocs are like 2.25m humans… they certainly exist but you can go a whole lifetime without ever seeing one. But, like I said, every tourist comes back from Kakadu having seen several record-breaking monsters.
