Black with a Vengeance

Having just watched 3 news, it seems English needs more time to go over treasury projections and try to figure out where 170 000 jobs are going to come from in the next 4 years. It’s fairly obvious he hasn’t a clue at the moment.

Why men shouldn’t write advice columns

Dear John,

I hope you can help me. The other day, I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching TV. My car stalled, and then it broke down about a mile down the road, and I had to walk back to get my husband’s help. When I got home, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor’s daughter.

I am 32, my husband is 34 and the neighbor’s daughter is 19. We have been married for 10 years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted they had been having an affair for the past six months. He won’t go to counseling, and I’m afraid I am a wreck and need advice urgently. Can you please help?

Dear Sheila,

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vaccuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.

Perennial protester a ‘Good Citizen’

Perennial protester Penny Bright – arrested 22 times, often at Auckland City Council meetings – has received a “Good Citizen” award from a council community board, The Aucklander reports.

The outgoing Eden Albert Community Board’s chairman, Christopher Dempsey, says the controversial character is being honoured for focusing attention on water privatisation and pushing for transparency in council contracts.

Ms Bright has never enrolled at university and has no legal training, yet she has won 21 out of 22 court cases.

Auckland City Mayor John Banks, who has had Ms Bright bundled out of the council chambers several times, is not at all surprised by the award.

Possibly Penny if you had been to uni it may have occurred that you didn’t need all those court cases to make your points, you could make them without them, as others seem able to do…

Possibly ‘Reid’ if Auckland City Council elected representatives and staff had acted lawfully – I wouldn’t have been arrested?

All they had to do was keep public matters out of ‘confidential’ and not unlawfully deny speaking rights?

Slow learners – wasting ratepayers money?

Or should I have just done nothing and allowed my lawful democratic rights to be trampled underfoot?

err… who else do you know of ‘Reid’ who has made the same points I have been making?

Not at all Penny I’m merely saying that if you’d been educated enough you’d have learned when young how not to get arrested AND make your point. People like you and Sue Bradford seem to take quite awhile longer than the usual to catch on. I’m not sure why that is.

errrr…… I CHOSE to take matters to the point of arrest ‘reid’.

By so doing I was able to hold those who (unlawfully) triggered my arrest accountable for their actions in a court of law.

‘Innocent until PROVEN guilty’?

Successfully in all but one case.

There were a number of positive results arising from those court cases which have helped to defend the public’s right to ‘open, transparent and democratically accountable’ local government.

With all due respect, it appears that the one who is ‘slow’ to ‘catch on’ is yourself ‘reid’.

I’m not sure why that is.

I see Penny.

So you wanted to make a martyr out of yourself, for justice. Possibly also peace and truth.

Why can’t you do that like everyone else does?

It’s obvious you want to be a public figure, so why don’t you stand for a or form your own, political party?

It’s obvious that’s what you want to do.

I suggest, do it.

But I also suggest Penny, don’t do it on your own. Tie a banner to another party. If you try it on your own Penny, it’s a very hard road.
