Mike Smith endorses Robertson to replace Goff
November 25th, 2011 at 6:34 pm by David FarrarMike Smith is the former General Secretary of the Labour Party. He has just blogged:
Grant Robertson – good electorate MP, got a strategic brain, good communicator. It’s time for a new generation leading Labour in my view.
That is significant for such a senior former official to say Goff should go on the eve of the election.
I think Grant will be Labour Leader and Prime Minister one day. If I was Grant though I would not stand next Tuesday, but instead wait until after the 2014 election.

So you’re already calling the 2014 election for National? Well, we read it here first!

There is the slight matter of Grant losing his seat tomorrow and looking like the biggest dickhead in town; hardly a credible launching pad for the leadership.

Sorry but Grant does not appeal to the female vote.

I would much rather Kelvin Davis as the next Labour leader. He’s very thoughtful and seems like a stand up bloke. I think he would be the only current Labour MP I would ever vote for to become Prime Minister.

It’s a shame the media probably won’t pass this story on verbatim throughout the evening without further comment just like they did this morning and all throughout today with Goff’s monster about the entire sale of the state assets. Not one journo I heard questioned his source for this whopper and all of them simply reported it without question.
Now this is a demonstrable abrogation of their duty to objectivity on the eve of an election and first we have TV3 doing it with their child poverty doco and then its snowballed from there. I see straight through spin, in fact I never even notice it and you can’t do that unless you recognise it but the man on the street doesn’t. This lie was worth probably another few thou for Liarbore today, possibly into the low single ten thou, and the fucking MSM pass it on verbatim, without comment all the while knowing it was a monstrous fucking baseless lie of Biblical proportion. Wankers. Fuck all of you lefty journos, who the fuck do you think you are.
I say this cause seriously DPF, the ex-General Secretary writes that and you report as this? Is this because, you’ve decided conservatives should stoop to their level?
Good on ya. Let me know if you want some fiendishly devious ideas. I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time…

Is he one of the gay MPs? It seems to be the only thing I can recall about him.

So would I but I’m afraid its Silent-T or Parker, then Jones or Little after that. The only problem for Silent-T is that George Hawkins’ files on his colleagues gathered during his times in useful portfolios like police minister, apply mostly to retired persons now, hence almost useless to Silent-T. Hence Parker’s natural ascendency for he is popular, unlike apparently, Silent-T. I wonder why?
Anyway, I think Parker’s a caretaker for Little, myself. He’s an excellent deputy, but not a leader. Everything depends on which of these captures the LGBT sector which is extremely influential and at the mo, that’s sitting with Parker and Little but I wouldn’t be surprised if Silent-T isn’t staring hard at the map trying to work out his next clever ploy to wrest the vital gays from Parker’s gwasp.

toad don’t you get it, we’re going to win Epsom, no matter how many Liarbore and Gween voters you turn out there. You can’t have that many in Epsom.
It amazes me you people seem time and again to believe the polls then become genuinely surprised when time and again Epsom strangely does the intelligent thing. I mean, anyone would think lots of really brainy people live there. Who woulda thunk.
But apparently you guys aren’t too brainy by comparison, since time and again the polls and the media and you guys all salivate at the prospect your hated arch enemy
LutherACT will fail to return to the fray, yet once again, Epsom comes through as all brainy people knew they always would.I may be wrong, I may be wrong. There’s a big gap between Goldsmith and Banks, more than ever before with Rodney. I wonder if Epsom voters are just giving Key the shits for being so condescending as to feel he has to tell them via a cuppa what they already knew anyway so they’re just fucking with the pollsters when they call which they have been frequently and when the crunch comes and the jokes are over, do what every one of those brainy people know is the right thing. I have hope,

If Mr. Farrar is cheering for him its highly likely.

Whether he is gay or not is both irrelevant and none of your business; there are more important issues – taxation, the economy, exports etc – to worry about.

Robinson will not be able to appeal to Labour’s heartland voters. Unless Labour can come up with a Tony Blair type they will never become Government. The ALP in Australia learned this lesson with the very successful Neville Wran back in 1975 and have had stunning political success ever since. A telegenic Barrister is what they want with a wife and two perfect kids. Robinson I am sure is a fine fellow but he is not the person who will bring Labour political success.

@Reid i second your comments overall. The NZ media, print sound ,picture are known as the most corrupt in the world and are of the same persuasion, lazy useless bludgers left of left.A rumour i heard Goff is so happy with his band of liars trying to make him a silk ear out of a pigs head,he is also very irked that Kiwiblog and Whale Oil blog sites are a thorn in his side. Was heard to say if he got back he would look to ban them. The only exception to the corrupt media are off course Kiwiblog,Whale Oil.National Business Review, and the champion brilliant Newstalk Zb mentor, is the one and only Larry Williams. The only trouble with him is he speaks too much common sense.

Thank you oldpark I appreciate that.

There’s a lot more as well oldpark, like Leighton, Fran, Hoskins, departed Henry, but overall, a far lessor crop always, than the competing noise.
Root cause is: this country’s political center is way left courtesy of years of continuous maneuvering ever since the anti-US stance was adopted in the mid-80′s. Similar in Scandinavian countries but missed benchmarking criticality is: differing populations.
This critical difference between an eons-old indigenous population who has generous nets combined with harsh attitudes toward those who misuse them (which is the attitude in Scandinavia) vs. our mixed population and consequent incohesive attitudes toward those who abuse such, is overlooked by the media and the lefties who, funnily enough often appear one and the same. Isn’t that peculiar?
Agree, Larry Williams should take over the Walrus’ (Sainsbury’s) slot.

Toad>The Greens’ leadership is very stable.
Of course there are two of them. One of whom is only leader because he or she has different genitals to the other leader. Patronising sexism as a basis for organisation.
And of course a previous candidate for the girl-parts co-leader got the pip when she didn’t win, quit, and is now standing for a different party.

Phil Goff’s leadership can now be measured in hours. It won’t be as satisfying as seeing Helen Clark standing on stage, surrounded by the sisterhood, giving her bitter speech. That was a keeper!!

The dumb and the stupid moron majority get their political fix from the 15 second biased sound bites of the Socialist managed and controlled media.
The RIGHT pollies suck it up as they know they cant do anything about this.
Editorial Freedom Like Shit
As in HC days when they crawled up her arse to make sure the story was Left.
If JK tried even 5% they would squeal like stuck pigs.

It’s fitting that Grant Robertson is an early pick as a possible future Labour leader. Were he duly elected we could look forward to a return to the good old days under H3 (Robertson), as he was known during the 2005 administration; Helen Clark was known as H1 and Chief of Staff Heather Simpson as H2.
Vote:Were he to follow their tradition we could anticipate the country being run by Robertson and a closely held media-shy confidante. As Robertson was a trusted ally of Clark, we may even see the installation of a Clark proxy.
Goody.

It would be fair to say that Goff will be making a dignified exit from the political stage tonight and that Cunliffe will be elected by Labour’s caucus as his successor. Robertson’s orientation may not resonate with Labour supporters therefore he won’t get the leadership this time as predicted, whatever Labour will have three years in the wilderness to sort themselves out.

I honestly couldn’t give a fuck whether he’s gay or not. My point was that it’s the only thing anybody knows about him ‘cos it’s the only thing he’s talked about since entering Parliament. I have no idea why Farrar has a fascination towards him given he’s done nothing besides state that he is gay since entering Parliament, yet has achieved fuck all in the areas of taxation, the economy, and exports.
