David Crerar recommends that health authorities and Coca-Cola consider issuing warnings on soft drinks.
“The hazards to the health of the consumers of excessive quantities of sugar and caffeine contained in carbonated drinks could be more clearly emphasised.
“Consideration should be given . . . to either lowering the caffeine percentage limit or creating a more specific warning such as those printed on [energy drinks] produced and marketed by Coca-Cola.”
In the coroner’s findings, Professor Doug Sellman of the National Addiction Centre said Coke should be added to an international list of addictive substances.
“Growing neurobiological research is strongly indicating that some people can develop a compulsive habit . . . very similar to the same behavioural pattern observed in a drug addiction.“
I was amazed to read a suggestion by a Coroner that ‘safety labels’ should perhaps be affixed to Coca Cola bottles – all in order to avoid a repeat of the death of a Southland woman who consumed up to 10 litres of Coca Cola per day….
But if the Coroner’s daft suggestion was somehow adopted, then what next?
Labels on donuts warning that anyone who eats more than 5 per day risks becoming a replica of the Michelin man?
Labels on oranges advising that consumption of too many per day will give you the shits?
Labels on sunglasses advising they can break if you sit on them?
Labels on bananas confirming the skin should be removed before consumption?
Labels on NZF MPs – as they are prone to gaffes, their comments should be dismissed as those uttered by morons?
Or should we simply allow Darwin to complete the process…?
Re: Coke and stupidity, as well as misogynist troglodytes from Wogistan (god I love that expression)…
Had the pleasure of my MiL round for dinner last night. A racist of long standing, she quietly voiced support for the member from CHC’s statements. Particularly the all terrorists are Muslim therefore all Muslims are terrorists comment. I noted that 99.9% of car accidents were caused by people wearing shoes, so we should ban shoes…
What ever happened to personal responsibility? Pouring 10L of just about anything, including water, down your neck every day isnt smart. Add to that smoking, and youve got a death wish. But of course, to sell papers we have the screaming headline.
Question: As newspapers increasingly lose readership, where to from here for what they do? I would hope that quality will out, but I cant see it anywhere
That late woman didn’t eat food, her sustenance coming almost entirely from the sugar in coke and she smoked like the Huntly power station in full flight operating on coal.
And unsurprisingly her life was shorter than most – a premature death as they say.
Now normal people shouldn’t need to be told that this is not a good way to live if you wish to live to enjoy your grandchildren.
Never the less the opportunity to bash a big multi national company and to cast the blame of someones poor choices upon them cannot be passed up and it was not.
Nor can the opportunty to create new rules and regulations be missed – rules and regulations are the life blood of those who earn their living from the taxpayer, they need to be administered and enforced providing new opportunities in the bureacracy industy.
Winston Peters was pretty indifferent towards Richard Prosser yesterday. Perhaps that’s because he has been expressing similar sentiments since as far back as 2005.
MISTAKE
Winston claims Prosser made a “mistake”
Why did Prosser rant on about Muslims instead of the Chinese?
Winston has run a deplorable crusade against the Chinese for years.
The lefty media have proved they are totally spineless for failing
to bring Winston to account.
NZfirst is just showing its true colours. A pack of rednecks.
And Labours future coalition partner along with the green Taliban and Mana
And they are all going to be one big happy family.
I think it’s now pretty clear that the “Muslims from Wogistan” controversy WAS pretty much organized by NZ First…. based on my own experience with the process surrounding my weekly column in Truth when I was an MP, here’s how I think it went down:
1. Prosser writes his rant, hugely pissed off after having his pocket knife confiscated. He doesnt edit it in the cold light of day, as any serious writer does, but sends the raw version to whoever in NZ First – possibly even Winnie himself – for approval.
2. The “approver” comes back and says “No, this is a bit OTT, you will have to rewrite it before submitting.” Prosser resists, and gets Winnie involved, if he isnt already.
3. Winnie instinctively smells an opportunity to appeal to his constituency, lights up a smoke, and brainstorms with his chief of staff. They decide to allow Prosser’s column to go in uncensored, knowing Wishart will be delighted with it, and publish it unedited.
4. They work out a series of lines – one of which I have just seen Winnie deliver to camera without his trademark smile – in which Winnie says the column was a little unbalanced (realising the rest home audience don’t understand that columns, by definition, are one person’s opinion and don’t need to be balanced) and making a few soothing comments about freedom of speech, and the “grain of truth” in the column. Winnie therefore appeals to the more rational and intelligent NZ First supporters.
5. Prosser appeals to the target audience; Winnie appears all statesmanlike and reasonable.
Or it could have been a complete cock up which arose because Winnie was pissed when he ought to have been checking Prosser’s column, and Prosser – delighted that the boss didn’t come back to him with objections – sent it off.

I think the living wage idea is good in theory, but a better system is to tax company profits at an increasing rate as their actual profits increase… If a company is making a modest profit then tax them at a modest rate, but if a company is making huge profits, and paying low wages, then tax that company at a huge rate.
Then use that extra tax revenue to lower the cost of living but taking the tax off food, power, petrol etc etc…. and then subsidizing those goods to keep the prices down if need be. Simple but effective. Problem solved.
Unless you are making huge profits yourself and pay crap wages, in which case it is a terrible idea. Horrible, awful, disgusting. You will say that it’s like punishing the successful while rewarding the average. And I guess that’s what it will feel like if you are currently making millions on the backs of hard working poor people…
No profits, no companies, just abject poverty for the masses there (except for the ruling communist elite).
It’s the workers’ paradise you seem to be dreaming of.
Peter: As I said above, that’s entirely possible. If it was, then it is a cockup on several levels.
Firstly, selecting Prosser, who doesnt see the need for sober reflection before putting things in writing. Aside from a joke one which was intended to horrify our chief of staff, any version of my Truth column sent for approval had already gone through a draft or two.
Secondly whoever is checking Prosser’s columns – if indeed anyone is – didnt do their job.
Thirdly, Winnie has picked as COS someone who is incompetent in that any of this happened at all.
But net result I think, good for NZ First and their target constituency rather than bad.
Got a couple of STUNNING new banners which will be unfurled today – first outside the offices of Mighty River Power, then outside the offices of Mercury Energy!
Opposed to the sale of State Assets by this minority National Government (which only got 59 out of 121 MPs in the 2011 election?
Remember – the vote on the Mixed Ownership Model Act was 61 – 60.
National – who did campaign on asset sales – were dependent on the votes of dodgy John Banks – who arguably should NOT be an MP – let alone a Minister, and Peter Dunne – who DID NOT campaign on supporting State Asset sales.
Wednesday, February 13, 12-2pm, outside head office of Mighty River Power, 23-29 Albert St, Auckland CBD
PROTEST! Say No to Asset Sales 3:30 – 5:30 pm,
outside Mercury Energy Office, 602 Great South Road, Penrose.
…………………………………………………
Wednesday, February 13, 6pm, Frank Kitts Park in Wellington
Rally to oppose government asset sales.
The Rainbow Warrior will be in town and will drop a banner off her side in support. Join the crowd after work at Frank Kitts, bring the kids.
Hear interesting speakers (named below) and some of Wellington’s finest musicians and performers, Aroha Priest, Warren Pomana, Marama Te Kira, Skank Jigger, Lucky Ngatuere, Tribal Rizin and Brass Razoo.
Now’s the time to show you care, if you don’t like the idea of selling our assets. No other time will do. So, Wellington and anybody else, come on down and bring a couple of people with you.
Greenpeace is backing this event, so show your support for them when they’re here. Say No To Asset sales is a rally not a protest.
We all recognise the diversity of opinion in opposition to the government’s proposed sale of state assets.
We all know that we will have to fight hard to stop the sales, but that we can do it. Only by retaining 100% control of the power companies can we, the public, develop and enjoy a clean, affordable, NZ-owned energy system. Selling removes these opportunities and, crucially, replaces the chance to investigate historical and contemporary violations of the terms of the Treaty of Waitangi with mere promises that the issue of rights in water between Government and tangata whenua will somehow be unaffected by privatisation.
The following speakers at this Rally represent the diverse range of groups, organisations and factions and the vast majority of people in Aotearoa/NZ opposed to the sale of our state assets. Celia Wade-Brown, Major of Wellington City Council; Justin Duckworth, Anglican Bishop of Wellington; Nathan Argent, National Policy Adviser, Greenpeace; Dr Geoff Bertram. Senior Economics Lecturer, Victoria University; Dr Jane Kelsey, Professor Law, Auckland University; Maanu Paul, Chair, NZ Maori Council; Peter Love, Te Atiawa & Board Member Wellington Tenths Trust with mokopuna, Kaira Love, Te Atiawa; Frances Kuo, Spokesperson, Aotearoa is Not for Sale; Dr Ganesh Nana, Chief Economist, BERL; Roy Reid, National President, Grey Power; John Maynard & Steve Booth, Spokespeople, Peoples Power Ohariu.

Or more than ten times the population of New Zealand. Or more than 400 times the population of Tonga. Not sure how this provides any meaningful “perspective”. 47 million is about 15% of the population. What percentage of the New Zealand population receives government assistance?
The Olympics have jumped the shark with stuff like BMX a sport that athletes from poor countries cannot compete while traditional sports like wrestling are available to all get the heave ho.
And maybe that is the driver with the all important medal tally that the inane commentators gush over being the thing why not promote sports that favour the rich nations over the poor ones.
Because when it comes down to it the couch potatoes in NZ would rather watch their own get a medal in tiddly winks than cheer the triumph an Uzbek from the Steppes who has trained in spartan conditions for years to acheive his well deserved moment of glory
What percentage of the New Zealand population receives government assistance?
The last time I checked (a year ago) there were 2.9 taxpayers for each beneficiary. That number has been declining, ie the welfare loading on productive NZers was been worsening for some time.
New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme (ETS) is more or less dead, according to a University of Canterbury (UC) forestry professor.
New Zealand has allowed unrestricted imports of credits, including many hot air credits from eastern Europe, meaning New Zealand has become a dumping ground for worthless credits from elsewhere, Associate Professor Euan Mason said today.
But we consumers go on paying, and paying, and paying. Thanks National … for flip-flopping on your commitment to abolish the ETS, all so you’d be able to create magic credits for Iwi forestry interest, thereby securing Maori votes. Disgusting.
Spain has had a burgeoning leftist welfare state for decades, and this combined with state-sponsored green subsidies have lead that country to the brink of bankruptcy.
Time for the some recipients of all that largesse to take their medicine.
Why are National, Neville Key and the greenie Nick Smith sticking with the ETS?
Simply because it’s a pretty neat tax that fills the government coffers. Labour lite is a disgrace.
[DPF: Wrong. It in fact loses the Government money. Bzzt. Thanks for playing]
“…..Got a couple of STUNNING new banners which will be unfurled today – first outside the offices of Mighty River Power, then outside the offices of Mercury Energy!….”
@manolo – she never had my vote to begin with, the next election I’ll be far more active at ensuring my circle of friends know about her poor performance in the job.
@penny – stop bloody lying, Peter Dunne was very clear during the campaign that he supported the partial sale of SOEs.
It’s hard to take you seriously on the best of days with all the tinfoil hat stuff but when you blatantly blather easily refuted false statements all it does is confirm your lack of credibility (on top of the whole unpaid rates / stealing power issues).
Penny Bright (A Spokesperson for the Switch Off Mercury Energy group)
I ask again – is this in the same way you’re a Spokesperson for OccupyAuckland, who have disowned you? Do they know?
Oh, and before you trot out the LIE that you never represented OccupyAuckland again, multiple sources were referenced two days ago in GD to prove that in fact, you DID represent them, as a Occupy Auckland ‘liaison person’, a member of the Occupy Auckland Media Team, and in various other capacities.
As other people have said, if you were to stop peddling untruths, misrepresentations, and outright lies, you might be taken more seriously.
I notice you comment that:
Greenpeace is backing this event
Why? What on earth does the Mixed Ownership Model have to do with any of the core issues that Greenpeace “claims” to be interested in?
[DPF: Wrong. It in fact loses the Government money. Bzzt. Thanks for playing]
Even a more brilliant move from Labour lite.
Are you saying New Zealanders pay those extra dollars to send them overseas or what? Where does the money go?
Just reading Manalo and DPF on the ETS. My immediate reaction was to drop my head into my hands and sob, however I changed my mind and decided to simply bang my head against the wall numerous times…..but I have an important meeting in an hour and dont want to be blinded by blood in my eyes. Therefore I am going to finish this are go to a lunch room to verbally play with some believers.
SO….let me see if I have this?
NZers pay a tax based on UNPROVEN science but the tax is not enough to cover the cost of the collection OR the cost of payments to some ficticious organisation?
OUR options must then be from one of the below:
a. The tax should be increased forthwith to a level that at least breaks even
b. The tax remains the same and middle NZ continues to subsidise another part of the economy or
c. Some form of rationale decision making miraculously appears in Wellington and the ETS (plus many other weird taxes) are consigned to the bin
@southtop, Not a chance your option c ever comes to pass.
The ETS tax was implemented by National, so according to DPF ought to be fine and dandy, just and fair.
Forget about the science, just chant: “Long live fearless Labour lite.“

Wrong Manolo. The ETS was passed by Labour just before the 2008 General Election, with the support of NZ First. National repealed it and replaced it with a scheme that was only half as punitive as Labour’s money-grab.
And before you accuse me of shilling for the Nats, I blogged and wrote to Key and Smith urging them not to pass the legislation. However we would all be far worse off had Labour’s ETS still been in effect.
Drove past the MRP “protest” by chance today. I only saw one mad looking bastard with a microphone, there may have been another protestor I didn’t see amongst the pedestrians.
For the first time in Australia’s history we are now witnessing a sitting Prime Minister seeking re-election while under investigation by a major fraud squad. The Left of the Press still shows no interest.
The Victorian Fraud Squad is not investigating Blewitt, Wilson, Bill the Greek, Bill Shorten or anyone else except… The Honorable Ms Julia Eileen Gillard.
Sacked for attempting to expose Gillard, radio jock Michael Smith filed a complaint against her, and only her.
Smith, an ex cop, knows his business and is certain to have had his paperwork in order.
A mountain of evidence involves central character Gillard and a comprehensive prima facie case will shortly be dumped on the desk of the Public Prosecutor.
Fraud squads do not react to innuendo, rumour or smear, only evidence and the diligence and confidence it has exhibited so far suggest charges are imminent.
It’s got to be more interesting than reading Penny’s tripe.

If you think something on that scale is a worry dont think about Taupo too much
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taupo_Volcanic_Zone
A total of 120 km3 (29 cu mi) of material is believed to have been ejected, and over 30 km3 (7.2 cu mi) of material is estimated to have been ejected in just a few minutes. The date of this activity is known since the ash expulsion was sufficiently large to turn the sky red over Rome and China (as documented in Hou Han Shu).
Taupo erupted an estimated 1,170 km3 (280 cu mi) of material in its Oruanui eruption 26,500 years ago. This was Earth’s most recent eruption reaching VEI-8, the highest level on the Volcanic Explosivity Index.
Its a US remake of the brit show (that i never saw).
Bloody good so far.
I had to laugh, the democrats are meeting with the teachers unions over an education bill. the dems say they will leave charter schools in the bill and the union guy instantly states – they go or we walk!!!
sums up the debate really. nothing to do with education, everything to do with pay conditions for union members aka teachers.

I read somewhere that there were rocks from this eruption found in Queensland. That’s quite a trans-tasman crossing!
While Curran is licking her wounds after being given the arse from the standard that old boiled boot Fenton is dipping her claws into the water and trying to communicate with Irish Bill.
I guess as the Labour MPs pluck up courage we will see more of them trying to prove to the standard followers that they are human. It’s so bloody pathetic and obvious.
Ms Penny Dim, if National never had a mandate for asset sales [in your considered opinion] then Liarbore never had a mandate for WFF or the interest free student loans [in my considered opinion]. Please explain this to Kiwibloggers Penny ?
twenty five road lice, cyclists, want to be.able to ride across the harbour bridge, so lens transport committee think its a great idea. the cost you ask just a mere thirty fucking million
Hey… if you need a reason to keep going… just remember… every day that you’re here on earth is one less day until Sonny Bull Bollocks takes a big big brain damage beating from a world class boxer…..
Wait a minute. Is that the same Penny who doesn’t pay her rates? Who effectively steals services that others have paid for? Who likes to claim she cares about the lower paid but in fact bludges off them so instead of buying toys for their children they have to pay her share?
“With a few weeks of growth still to occur, the Arctic has blown away the previous record for ice gain this winter. This is only the third winter in history when more than 10 million km² of new ice has formed.”
The whole trying to look a bit casual while still retaining some formality thing makes me squirm. Station promo for the SS Shitanic shows two men in slightly scroungy looking shirts with no tie but with formal suit jackets.
Yeah…. mmm… no. Who dresses like that away from TV land?
The whole trying to look a bit casual while still retaining some formality thing makes me squirm.
What they should do is make them dress up in pantaloons, puffy shirts and powdered wigs. That way people would take a visual cue from the seriousness or otherwise of the “news” they read from the autocue anchor.
As another one of the road lice, I say bring it on. If there’s a clipon added for cyclists and pedestrians, I predict that a LOT of people will use it. Certainly I’ll be a starter, and I’ll be using it every working day. Hell, it’ll save me a packet in petrol costs.
So… is that the only way a man can be ‘dressed up’ in western society? A suit and tie? Geez… that’s fairly limiting isn’t it?
Let’s count those options again. One.
That’s boring mate. I’m thinking the word burka. It’s a uniform isn’t it? All these TV men in suits and ties. They all go to the same school!!
And poor old Alison Mau… that’s a waste of a hot woman what she’s wearing. Don’t worry I’ve got the sound off…. and now changing the channel away from the SS Shitanic.
There’s got to be at least one more option, hasn’t there? This is the fucking human race we’re talking about. Collectively we’re a bunch of geniuses…. Europe came up with the fucking industrial revolution… harnessed electricity…. effectively eliminated childhood mortality rates… went to the moon (yeah, I think they did mate)…. and can fly 500 people half way around the globe in one day…. music… art…. houses… gardens… factories…. for the love of all that’s good and right…. why…. why oh why….
is there **just one** clothing option for a western man to wear to be considered smart and well-dressed?
As another one of the road lice, I say bring it on. If there’s a clipon added for cyclists and pedestrians, I predict that a LOT of people will use it. Certainly I’ll be a starter, and I’ll be using it every working day. Hell, it’ll save me a packet in petrol costs.
Would you pay a toll so that the ratepayer wasn’t being asked to stump up?
If the road lice want to ride over the bridge or anywhere they should pay just as other road users do.
First is a cyclist LICENSE and a cycle REGISTRATION which will include a levy for Accident Compensation Corperation.
Then there is a fuel Tax, well road lice will use a lot of energy to do what they do, so Tax the Fuel they use – duty on energy drinks and bananas!
Why do the non paying bludgers go on and on and on about their road rights when they pay fuck all?
Don’t give me that car rego/tax/petrol/diesel/user charges bullshit
Steady Steve. Do you suggest pedestrians should be made to pay for using the footpath? Or that boaties should receive a discount for the road tax included when filling their tanks? Mowing my lawns generates roading revenue. Should I get a rebate?
Why do we go on about road rights? Because the LAW states that we do in fact have these rights, irrespective of whether we pay anything for the use of the road or not. You may not like it (obviously), but that’s the LAW. So tough shit.
steve- yeah but if I’ve got some fucktard driving style that you hate having anywhere near you that’s not good, right? But then if I’m cycling…. that’s one less fucktard in a car to deal with. That’s an upside, yeah? They take up less space than a car… less traffic… haha… more parking spaces!!
Sidney has a problem with premature ejaculation,
so he pays a visit to a sex shop for a remedy.
The assistant hands him a little purple can and says,
“This is Stay-Hard spray… put on a little and you can

Excited, Sidney takes it home, stashes it in the cellar
on a shelf, and waits eagerly for bedtime.
Later that night, he sprays some on his member and then
goes upstairs to his wife. To his utter disappointment,
however, the remedy seems to make him orgasm quicker than
ever.
The next day, Sidney returns to the sex shop, angrily
slammed the can down on the counter, and snaps,
“This stuff makes me worse than before!”
Upon reading the label, the assistant asks, “I don’t suppose
your hid this stuff on your basement shelf, did you?”
“Yeah, so?”
“You must have grabbed the wrong can, sir…
this is Easy-Off.”

wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, but
will go deep into their hearts and they’ll forever speak of this day

Titiwhai replied, “I seriously doubt that! With one little wave of
your hand?….Show me!”
So the Pope backhanded her and knocked her off the stage!
AND THE CROWD ROARED & CHEERED WILDLY and there was happiness
throughout the land!

I believe you have to commute the bridge every day? Bugger that mate, you would have to leave 6 am to get past town in relative ease and comfort just to be somewhere by 7.30 am.
Aren’t they usually on the left, not weaving all over the lane trying to ruin your life?
Most of them are ok, eh? Like anything else. Most vehicle drivers are sort of ok. The total pricks are in the minority.
They don’t pay road tax. Well…. they don’t cause the need for maintenance like a heavier mode of transport does.
You don’t need an entire road for them either. If it was just bicycles… you wouldn’t make the fuckin road that wide, would ya? So the road tax is mostly paying for who? You.
When I used to drive a bus through Newtown in the morning…. there was this one smokin hot chick cyclist in the old stretchy black bike pants most days… far out man… I used to make sure I got ‘stuck’ behind her as much as possible. Like… how much ‘arse time’ could I get? That’s like ‘hang time’ only with arses.
I’m with Steve North Shore on this- Cyclists are a pack of arrogant tossers…Quick to spout the road code at any driver who may be ‘inconveniencing’ them yet they point blank refuse to abide by the rode code themselves….How often do you see them running red lights etc?
And put some fucking clothes on.
(Guys that is…Female cyclists are exempt from my rage)
People have started using the western motorway to get to town in the mornings clogging that motorway, honestly, the shore though, a lovely place is not exactly a great place to be once you realize that if you don’t leave early you’re stuck in the worst of traffic jams in the country.
longknives- you’re more intelligent than that, aren’t ya?
Big time generalisation….
When you think about it… there’s not really that much interaction necessary between cyclists and non-cyclist road users.
Isn’t it all fairly straightforward? I mean… you don’t find it difficult to share the road with cyclists, do ya? How hard can it be?
I’ve seen cyclists get badly cut up by moronic motorists too… it works both ways. There’s a footpath used by cycle commuters in Wellington along Kaiwharawhara and I’ve seen plenty of idiots pull out in front of or across cyclists going into and out of drives. Some of the cyclists are doing 40-50km/h. These people need to use their eyes 100% of the time and look and check properly.
Yeah some cyclists run red lights. I’ve done that before. I don’t cycle but I’ve done that. If they’re not slowing anyone else down, does it really make any difference?
If you’re doing 1km or more over the speed limit… you’re breaking the law. That’s illegal. But no-one’s doing that, are they? When everyone is a squeaky clean little angel that never breaks any kind of a law or rule anywhere in life…. they can preach from on high. And if someone has never broken a rule in life… .well you can just fuck off ya goody good noddy… hahahaha
Fuck of and get out of my way. I paid the TAX, you didn’t, fuck off.
How much tax have you paid, steve? My personal and company tax contributions to NZ look more like an Irmasat phone number than anything else.
I feel well within my rights to use the road, reducing commuter congestion each day, staying fit and healthy. And 99.9% of motorists are happy to share the road with me, for which I’m grateful.
Your angry, selfish rant suggests we’d all be better off if you worked your concerns out with 10,000 tonnes of train at a level crossing.
Yeah… especially if they keep a big bubble around each other and the left side of the road and then if it’s a narrow piece of road or bendy you get stuck behind the pricks… and they show zero consideration for anyone else and keep people stuck behind them….
But then you’ll get others that show courtesy and are mindful of not wanting to hold up traffic and leave a good amount of space to get past them.
Big groups of them…. 5-10 or more… yeah… just depends on their attitude. The law says they can ride side by side… two abreast I think is the actual words off the top of my head. Not sure ti says anything about a gap they need to stick to.
If a redtaper did try to add a compulsory distance to maintain when riding two abreast then I’m sure that would get up some noses here about more nonsense nanny state measures for something that’s ‘commonsense’
A lot of truck drivers are total FUCKWITS!! With the ugliest moronic mentality…. arrogant nasty ignorant cunts.
You won’t find many of them debating politics or current issues let me tell ya… thick fucktards a lot of them and look at what they’re cruising around in. Big arse heavy vehicles. Yeah.
I was a total moron when I drove buses in my early twenties. Think and hope I’m a bit smarter now.
Yep… that’s where a lot of losers end up. Driving a truck. Like I was and might find myself doing more of fuck it.

ROFLMAO at the pontifications of that coroner.

Vote:Winston claims Prosser made a “mistake”
Why did Prosser rant on about Muslims instead of the Chinese?
Winston has run a deplorable crusade against the Chinese for years.
The lefty media have proved they are totally spineless for failing
to bring Winston to account.
NZfirst is just showing its true colours. A pack of rednecks.
And Labours future coalition partner along with the green Taliban and Mana
And they are all going to be one big happy family.
February 13th, 2013 at 9:30 am

And before you accuse me of shilling for the Nats, I blogged and wrote to Key and Smith urging them not to pass the legislation. However we would all be far worse off had Labour’s ETS still been in effect.

“Fuel tax” for cyclists, Steve? Really?
Vote:February 13th, 2013 at 7:29 pm
Steady Steve. Do you suggest pedestrians should be made to pay for using the footpath? Or that boaties should receive a discount for the road tax included when filling their tanks? Mowing my lawns generates roading revenue. Should I get a rebate?
Vote:February 13th, 2013 at 7:29 pm
graham- I reckon that’s retarded having a bridge that you can’t walk across or cycle across. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.
Especially one that separates how many people from how many other people? That’s dumb times 1.4 million people. That’s a fair old portion of ‘really?’

The assistant hands him a little purple can and says,
“This is Stay-Hard spray… put on a little and you can
go all night!”

Do you think gay marriage across the world will be the false the rapture? Surprisingly I’m coming across people online waiting for humanity to be reborn and that all it would take would be an issue that everyone will agree on. Crazy? I think a lot of people want this to make them feel at one with everyone around them.
Look at Ratzinger leaving office. Good for him for wanting to retire and he is the short reigned one with the name of the sign of the olive.

The Pope and Titiwhai Harawera are on the same stage at Waitangi in
front of a huge crowd last week.
The Pope leans towards Titiwhai and says, “Do you know that with
one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go
wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, but
will go deep into their hearts and they’ll forever speak of this day
and rejoice!”
Titiwhai replied, “I seriously doubt that! With one little wave of
your hand?….Show me!”
So the Pope backhanded her and knocked her off the stage!
AND THE CROWD ROARED & CHEERED WILDLY and there was happiness
throughout the land!
Now the Pope has had to resign!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe you have to commute the bridge every day? Bugger that mate, you would have to leave 6 am to get past town in relative ease and comfort just to be somewhere by 7.30 am.

steve- are they in your way?
Aren’t they usually on the left, not weaving all over the lane trying to ruin your life?
Most of them are ok, eh? Like anything else. Most vehicle drivers are sort of ok. The total pricks are in the minority.
They don’t pay road tax. Well…. they don’t cause the need for maintenance like a heavier mode of transport does.
You don’t need an entire road for them either. If it was just bicycles… you wouldn’t make the fuckin road that wide, would ya? So the road tax is mostly paying for who? You.

re lycra:

This weeks story should inspire the cyclist haters: Truck driver plays chicken with cyclists.

Very few motorists are cyclists.
Almost all cyclists are motorists.
I wonder which group has a better perspective?
Vote:February 13th, 2013 at 10:46 pm
longknives- you’re more intelligent than that, aren’t ya?

The only dangerous thing cyclists do is parallel ride with each other.

Azeraph-
Yeah… especially if they keep a big bubble around each other and the left side of the road and then if it’s a narrow piece of road or bendy you get stuck behind the pricks… and they show zero consideration for anyone else and keep people stuck behind them….

I reckon the people that cycle to work are amazing. Especially winter in Wellington… fuck that. Or just: especially in Wellington, fuck that.
It’s beautiful… they combine the need to get to work with daily exercise…. perfect….
I don’t know how they do it… because after work… that’s the last thing you’d want to do, isn’t it? 10-20-30kms on the bike to get home?
I asked such a group how they handled the issue of showers and change of clothes too. Would take a bit of extra organising. Good for them!!
I heard of one hardcase who came in from Pram to town every day on the pushbike… holy smoke…

Truck driver playing chicken story.
I’ve driven a fair few trucks.
