What is smarm, exactly? Smarm is a kind of performance—an assumption of the forms of seriousness, of virtue, of constructiveness, without the substance. Smarm is concerned with appropriateness and with tone. Smarm disapproves.
It makes me think of the labour and green parties, but mostly of Cunliffe. If smarm was a precious resource then labour would be billionaires. As it is, smarm is just another form of bullshit, and labour are broke.
