ACT MPs discussing Banks

The NZ Herald reports that “talks are understood to be underway between Act MPs over John Banks’ future in the party.”

Most ACT members I have spoken to are not keen on having Banks as a candidate, but some are wildly enthusiastic. It is going to be a tough call. The fact that there is such division suggests what the safer course might be.

There is a good debate on Anna’s blog where her advice was “Dear Rodney – Justt. Say. No.”

I like John Banks a lot. He is a hilarious broadcaster, had the right sort of personality to be Mayor of a major city, and was an excellent Police Minister. However he is not the best team player, unless he is team leader, and he will be a high risk approach if ACT do go with him.
