After cocktails last night at the conference in Palmerston North, the fine candidate for Wellington Central and myself headed into town with some of the Young Nationals. Had a very nice time meeting the locals as we visited several establishments, and sampled various whiskeys.
We were all in suits, which was seriously over dressed for the pubs. People were staring. At one place someone insisted I was someone famous so I confessed to being the Treasurer of Australia, Peter Costello, and that the Young Nats were my bodyguards.
The worst pickup line of all time was invented by Alex who went up to a group of young ladies and said “Hi, I’m the local Young Nationals Chairman”.
Ended up back in the room at 2.00 am. Woke up late which is why no blogging this morning.
