What is the PM worried about?

The PM has refused to allow the Radio NZ debate with Don Brash to also be shown on Sky TV. How absolutely bizarre.

Here’s my conspiracy theory for the day.

The Nats have some great ammo they planned to deploy against the PM. Labour got wind of it and cancelled the cameras to limit the exposure.

More realistically, I think Clark just wants to limit Brash’s media coverage.

Well if we are into conspiracy theories, and
given that food poisoning usually takes 2-3 days to show up, here’s mine.

When she was out campaigning with Jeanette Fitz on Friday, Jeanette gave her some tofu burgers or Textured soy protein sausages to take home and try for dinner…. she has developed a horrid allergic reaction and is covered in purple spots 🙂

either that or the kids at the school they were visiting slipped some play-dough into her luunch.

virtual prize to the best conspiracy we can come up with..

Perhaps her make up wasnt quite right. The lighting wasnt right for the giant protruding tooth deformity…..or perhaps Don out debated her?

Helen will want to limit the one on one debates with Don.
I don’t think Don will beat Helen in a debate. As a general rule I think Helen will be the better debater, BUT without all the other leaders interjecting over the top, Don won’t look like a deer in the headlights, as he did on TV3.
Don doesn’t need to beat Helen, he just needs to seem coherant, sensible and credible. In a one on one debate he would do just that. That is why Labour wants to limit the one on one debates.

Perhaps she is going to go after Brash tooth and nail, and is aware of how ugly that ‘looks’.

…would provide plenty of soundbites for RadioNZ news and Morning Report though.

(or perhaps she needs to give her make-up artists more notice for public appearances)

State Radio debates will be controlled and ajudicated by their Left wing staff and comentators who will declare or imply the winner.Sky TV has a facility which allows the audience to vote during the telecast.National has overwhelmingly won every audience poll I have seen on Sky.

In that case:

Perhaps She, in the interests of meaningful debate, would not agree to another ‘reactor’ led debate. She would know that intelligent debate is sacrificed for popular performance, and that the worm insinuates itself into post-match analysis in the most banal manner.

Perhaps She has actaully done us all a favour (in more ways than one). We might get a debate comprehensively addresses the actual issues instead of waxing lyrical – I for one will not be holding my breath though.

Leftists extremists dominate the news media in New Zealand. This has a big impact on democracy, as these creeps, posing as objective commentators, are able to subtly massage public opinion into agreeing with most of the positions of the left.

The most recent debate was chaired by Alliance/ Progressive supporter John Campbell. The debate this discussion refers to is to be chaired by Linda Clarke and Sean Plunket, another two extreme left media flunkies.

This means that all questions will be predicated on the assumptions that the war in Iraq was a bad decision, the war in Iraq is being lost, (quagmire blah blah blah) that tax cuts are bad and will lead to social disaster, and so many other articles of leftist faith.

What a farce. What a stain on the democratic process. When do the NZ public get the chance to view or listen to a debate which is chaired by
some non-partisan person, and not these leftists dickwads like Clarke Campbell and Plunkett, who can do nought but pretend to objectivity.

re the polls on sky..i caught the tail-end of an interview with bob jones on sky and the poll was seventy something percent in favour of national..this figure was trumpeted by the interviewer, who asked jones what he thought of that…

jones reply was that it was obvious the interviewers audience were a bunch a of rightwing fascists..and that the poll was totally out of touch with reality..the look on the rapidly deflating interviewers face was priceless..

According to redbaiter when Don doesn’t know the difference between leading and listening its the leftwing facilitators fault. When Don doesn’t know the details of the asset sales policy, and is corrected by Helen its the left wing media flunkies fault.
Even better if George Bush fails in his bid to bring democracy to Iraq its all the non partisan commentators fault. We all know Iraq was a slam dunk so it must be someone else’s fault. Certainly not George who spends 5 weeks holiday on his ranch ( a farm without any cattle) just like he did when the intelligence was screaming danger in august 2001.

No needs a conspiracy theory – Dim & Michael(Right) were probably closest to the truth at the top of this thread.

If Linda Clark and/or Sean Plunkett give her a good mauling why the hell does she want footage that will end up leading every TV news bulletin (which easily out rate National Radio) the next day? IMO, Clark is not the master debater CW would have us believe. Just remember the infamous John Campbell “little creep” outburst – knock her off her talking points and sound bites with a persistently tough line of questions, and there’s real potential for things to go horribly wrong. Didn’t really matter in ’02 when the election was pretty much a foregone conclusion; it could be critical if she goes feral in the first days of what promises to be a hard fought race.

Yes I think she assumes skynews is right leaning and she does not want skytv providing any spin that would help Dr Brash. There will be a hard political calculation in this all right. I just find it amusing our leftie chums try and say it is something else.

I know you’re not going to cash the reality cheque, but nobody is interested in relitigating the Iraq War outside the usual incestuous media/partisan echo chamber. Perhaps Labour wants to do so because they don’t actually want to stand on their record. Who knows?

Well, youngster, I guess someone should ask Clark if she regrets committing New Zealand troops to East Timor folliwing the deaths of New Zealanders in the Kuta Beach bombings.

Perhaps we should never, ever under any circumstances send aid or show any public support of Iraq because… well, that might be terribly provocative.

Is the Clark Doctrine now that the Government should also never make “provocative” criticisms of human rights abuses in nations like Pakistan, Saudi Aramia, Iran?
