NZ First position

Just noted in the Herald story this morning that not only has NZ First said it will support the largest party to form a Government, but that it will be conditional on the Greens and ACT not being part of a coalition.

Sadly it is looking grim for ACT, so the only party likely to be affected by this is Labour.

This means that Labour’s only chance of govering is getting a majority of seats between the four parties of the left. This means a Labour-Progressive-Green-Maori Party coalition. Or Labour-Progressive-Green with confidence and supply from Maori Party.

The most likely alternative is a National-United Future coalition with confidence and supply from NZ First.

I think we can assume that with a Labour-Progressive-Green-Maori Party coalition, a deadline for treaty settlements will be gone by lunchtime.
