You think those on the minimum wage would be happy that the Government has increased it, but no we see an angry Susan Tuanui demanding it be made $12/hour now.

First can I comment I love how the media report MPs pay-rises in annual terms, yet minimum wage increases in hourly terms only. The increase is equivalent to a $1,564 pay rise.

Secondly I really love the demand that they be given an immediate 26% pay increase instead of 8% one they got. Yeah 26% increase for doing the same job as you did yesterday. I’m fairly proud that as far as I can recall I have never ever had a pay increase for just doing the same job. Any increases were always due to taking on extra responsibility etc.

Thirdly can I suggest to Ms Tuanui that if she wants to be paid $12/hour she get a job where you do something worth $12/hour. Because quite frankly serving behind a KFC counter is not worth $25,000 a year.
