Currency Wars

I always find it amusing when I read of spats between Michael Cullen and John Key on currency issues.

For I always reflect on what jobs both men held before becoming MPs.

Dr Cullen was a history lecturer. They have tenure which means a job for life regardless of whether you are correct or not in what you say or do.

Mr Key was head of global foreign exchange for Merrill Lynch. If he got it wrong on currency he could lose tens or hundreds of millions of dollars for his employer an clients. If he got it seriously wrong he would be sacked and unemployable in that industry.

So not a hard decision for me, about who’s side I’m on!
