Women’s officer gagged

If it were not for the fact that most are forced to fund this sort of idiocy, it would almost be comical:

Mr Simpson was accompanying two Massey students to the Tertiary 's Focus Group Conference in Christchurch last month when he asked to make a comment during a discussion on healthy eating.

An Otago Polytechnic representative objected to him speaking, and the question was put to a vote. Mr Simpson was silenced with a single objection.

NZUSA women's rights officer Natalie Absalom said the rule against male participation had been in place for years.

mean seriously how precious can you be. Voting on whether to let the male in the room speak, because you know hearing a male voice will lead to decades of oppression.

Don't get me wrong – any private group can set whatever rules they like (even though I doubt a group banning women from speaking would be too popular) about who can speak. But the vast majority of people attending that meeting would have been flown to Wellington and funded by compulsory fees imposed on students at their campuses.
