Fairs and Beds

Just had a lovely walk around the Thorndon Fair.  A beautifully sunny day for it.  The fair closes down part of Tinakori Road and Hill Street and is a great fundraiser for the local school.  A real community event – even the PM opens up the lower grounds of Premier House for it. As usual it was packed. I saw Martha selling her great babylicious range.

My second fair in almost as many weeks.  Was at the Roseneath School fair a couple of weekends ago, with a mate and his kids.  They’re a great tradition, even if Trade Me means less left over goods for the fairs nowadays. Afterwards we went to this great playarea in Roseneath that I didn’t even know existed – on the Crescent.  It has a stunning view of the harbour – almost too good just for kids.  Got ourselves dizzy on the swings and roundabouts. I always enjoy being a kid and playing with kids – so long as I can hand them back at the end 🙂

Had a but of a big spend up today – not at the fair, but down on Thorndon Quay buying a new bed.  Normally I’m fairly stingy prudent when it comes to spending money on the household, but I make an exceptions for beds – after all you spend a fair number of years on one.  So I ended up put of pocket by $3,500 or so – but that isn’t just the bed, but also new mattress and coverings – time for a new look.  It’s a lovely Calypso solid timber bed in walnut stain.  Will arrive next weekend, so I’ll have fun putting it together.
