Six drink driving convictions

The Dom Post reports on a Housing NZ manager who has just racked up his sixth drink driving conviction. Despite injuring people when driving drunk, and despite being given a 12 month jail sentence, he is keeping his job because he now has home detention, and will work from home.

The appalling thing is how many times this person has probably actually driven drunk, to have racked up six convictions.  In my experience you only get stopped by the Police every 200 – 300 trips in the evening.  So to have racked up six convictions, it is highly likely someone has driven drunk on many hundreds of occasions, maybe over a thousand.
