Was Owen Glenn’s PA, Laura Ede, the same Laura Ede who was Miss North Harbour 1999? A reader has e-mailed, wanting to know?

Her facebook profile says she’s usually from London, but there are many photos of Sydney parties. I found her & Owen’s email addresses if your friend wants to ask them.

I checked out the Miss World NZ website using the Wayback Machine… was able to find pics of their 2000 contestants but not the 1999 ones.

Off topic I’m sorry but I know any post on a thread about OG’s gorgeous PA will get seen 😉

Question: Is the $100000 that Glen donated taxable in either the hands of the recipient or in the hands of the person who’s services were paid for with it? What is the situation wrt GST?

If so is the IRD likely to be the 5th agency to investigate this?

Not liable for GST because it wasn’t a payment for goods or services rendered.

Not taxable as income because it was a gift.

Was Glenn liable for gift duty? Don’t know the rules on foreigners.

When it was paid onward to Henry the situation changes. He would be liable for GST and for income tax. Presumably he accounted properly for it.

Crikey, had a look at Bart’s link, and as a Manawatu boy I’m proud of the number of winners we’ve had. I know the Kirby girl and her family (this years Miss Earth NZ), fine folk. The photo doesn’t do her justice.
