David … thank you for your advice that Roy Morgan consistantly overstates NZF support (breathes a deep sigh of relief).

Does it also consistently understate ACT support which it shows mired at 1.5%. I certainly would have expected it to be higher. Is it perhaps the ‘Douglas’ scare factor or something else?

It is a matter of corruption that goes to the very heart of good governance. A matter of a person using their position to prevail on others to obstruct the course of justice.

But like Peters’ bluster, there has been unverified scuttlebut & accusation from the likes of gd.

In both cases I think I can guess which is truth & which is bullshit.

Evidence can change my mind though.

I wish to promote an idea that some here may well think I’m a bit mad for putting it forward.

I’ve come to the view that all this fuss over Winston Peters could actually be helping him. Note the results in the latest Roy Morgan Poll, it shows him at 5%. Perhaps that old cliche about ‘any publicity is good publicity’ applies to Peters and his friends. I do think this issue which is getting such widespread coverage isn’t helping National. Why? Because for starters it isn’t helping the media coverage of where the parties are at in regards to their policies. Where is the MSM coverage of the fact that Labour have no policies announced yet?

The best thing for the Winston Peters – NZ First fiasco is for it to be off the headlines asap. Let Peters and friends try to get publicity some other way and not the easy way they’re getting it now.

I think the EFA is definitely helping Labour. Why? Where are the usual bunch of pressure groups with their off the wall ideas that add so much to an election campaign. It’s just plain boring without the loony lefty and raving rightwing groups carrying on and banging heads over some issue or another. A part of the democratic rights of people has been removed. Shame on all the politicians who voted for it.

Re the election result I think that National need to get to 47% at least. Getting over 50% is possible but will not be easy. On the other if the Roy Morgan poll was the election result Labour could cobble together a shonky coaltion and form a Government but it would be despised by the majority of voters.

So please MSM and bloggers lets move the election campaign onto more meaningful and constructive topics and leave The Old Poodle in his kennel.

llew, I heard the rumours a long, long time ago, and I’m pretty sure there was some kind of media report regarding an incident at LAX accompanied by a fairly indistinguishable photo of alleged perpetrator.

It was a long time ago now and at the time my interest was apolitical so I sniggered and moved on. The consequences may be graver than I would have credited at the time if there is any truth in the rumour though, given the subsequent revelations and implications regarding how the current coalition was formed.

And remember, the Winston – OG story started as rumour and speculation with no evidence.

That’s what I’m asking for – evidence. However, as I said, unlike the Peters’ Glenn affair, I am now of the opinion that the evidence doesn’t exist. Happy to change my mind though, if presented with evidence.

The SFO was to be terminated a week after Rodney Hyde made his complaint with the media in tow. I hate ‘snitchers’ especially little men like him in canary yellow jackets running around squeaking the sky is falling are now asking Owen Glenn “Pick me pick me”! give your cash to me!! Re: Front page article, Sunday Times 14th September 2008. Rodney Hyde is to John Key what Boris is to Count Dracula his sidekick who says “yes Master”

Now lets take a closer look at The ‘Player’s; Their motives; The deals; Promises of things to come and The Pay-off’s!!

Rodney Hyde promises to save SFO at the eleventh hour by complaining about Winston on behalf of John Key Who promises a coalition government with Act What does Rodney get? He promises Own Glenn a position in his party in return for donations all be it declared because we are talking about possibly millions and the donation will not be affected by taxes or declaration or the amount promised to Act. Owen Glenn was expecting to be installed by Winston in Monaco and is pretty peed off cos Winston did not deliver. It was important to him as the posting in Monaco would have given him an enormous advantage over business interests there and also the diplomatic privilege that brings. The SFO is not happy with Winston as he has sounded the death knell for them , hence the letter from a disgruntled SFO member stating this. The SFO blurs the lines with the Privileges committee John Key promises the SFO a position in his government and to keep them alive In return the SFO gratefull for this Divine Intervention from death, agrees to bring down Winston.
Oh and there is the media well they are all peed off because Winston bruises their egos constantly!! Oh yeah sells paper’s!!
Now to sum it up : John Key +SFO, +Rodney Hyde+Owen Glenn +Media =Plenty of Motive to bring Ole Winston down!!

Persons who chose not to avail themselves of the system must expect that unless they do so questions will continue to be asked and if they refuse to reply then certain conclusions will be drawn.

Llew yes I was trying to figure out your Veitch comment and frankly couldnt quite connect myself to it.

BTW has anyone seen a NZ1 Billboard around the country Havent seen any in Auckland What can this mean. Has the secret trust monies run out? Is Luigi still waiting for the Glen donation?

Also I would love to get hold of Luigis personal bank account details and have a good shifty Betcha the source of the deposits would make interesting reading. Mind you most would be in coin of the realm rather than cheques.

To get around the Money laundering Act he must have a squad making the deposits on his behalf.

Justice Minister Annette King says a Citizens Initiated Referendum on the question — “should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offence in New Zealand?” — will be held between Friday 31 July 2009 and Friday 21 August 2009.

The Chief Electoral Office will run the postal referendum, the first held under the Referenda (Postal Voting) Act 2000.

The legislation requires a three week voting period for a postal referendum.

Ms King says the Referenda (Postal Voting) Act was enacted “to provide a simple and cost effective means of conducting referenda”.

“The postal referendum will be held after the Chief Electoral Office has completed the conduct of the 2008 General Election. The Chief Electoral Officer has recommended to the Government that the referendum be held between 31 July and 21 August 2009, with that timing reflecting the need to finish work on the 2008 election and complete the logistics needed to run a postal referendum.”

You need to read “Absolute Power”, if I remember rightly, Wishart says that he thinks Peter Davis is a decent man who has been unfairly smeared, or something to that effect. He still states that Peter Davis somehow managed to appear and speak at a conference in the USA while NZ immigration records do not show that he ever left NZ, and that the natural appearance of this being one of a “cover-up” gave the rest of the rumour “legs”. Apparently someone knows someone who knows the crew of the RNZAF plane that Davis rode on, but that must be all there is to it.

You could be onto something here. This gels nicely with the theory that Bobo the labrador ate the evidence that would have exonerated Winston. But what was the payoff for Bobo? Does Rodney even know Bobo? Or is Rodney just PRETENDING that he doesn’t know Bobo?

I can see how SFO evidence that the trust payed Winston’s expenses might indeed “blur the lines” to adopt your turn of phrase, in the same way that the murder accused standing over the victim and holding the murder weapon might also blur the lines.

This raises wider issues about the blatant self interest demonstrated by all of our regulatory and law enforcement agencies whenever they prosecute people who have already advised them of their innocence or compliance with whatever law/regulation that has allegedly been breached. They only do it to justify and perpetuate their existence. Why don’t they just leave those people alone and get on the case of the real bad guys; the ones that DON’T say that they didn’t do it?

I have noticed.
Driving around Tauranga and the Mt. daily as I do I have noticed that there is something missing.
My Question; are we having an election or not?

Why do I ask?
Well simple really.
The complete absence of election hoarding from any party except National. In the “home” of NZF I have not seen a single sign and neither have I seen a Labour sign let alone any others. National have had their troops out and signs up.
Ponderings; is this because NZF and LAB no longer have any money to spend? Is it because they no longer have any willing supporters?
Certainly we don’t have an EPMU head office here to assist with their corporate time and staff etc. Maybe there is some other simple explanation that I have missed.

What’s happening elsewhere?

And I’d also remind you that Winston has yet to declare that he will be standing in the Tauranga electorate. That will be of course if he survives the current brouhaha.
One thing it is doing is keeping him off the streets. Hardly likely to advantage him in electioneering. No wonder he looked so beaten up yesterday.

OK, so we are 12.5% through the election campaign, and I am completely mystified by what Labour are doing.

They have presumably known for weeks that this was Week One and so we should have expected something big. Instead we get Phil Goff doing Ron Mark impersonations, Michael Cullen being pathetic and stupid by blaming John Key for the world’s economic woes and Helen Clark being being pathetic and stupid and insulting to the New Zealand Defence Force.

National has continued to release policies and does not appear to have done anything really stupid.

I would certainly give week one to the Nats by a wide margin.

I am coming to the conclusion that:

i) Labour are broke and have to wait for the taxpayer-funded TV ad money to arrive before they can do anything;

ii) they really did kid themselves into thinking that they are now the natural party of government, and thus didn’t have to do anything to win the election other than than say “John Key is unfit for office” 64,567 times a week; and

iii) as a result of ii), they have no Plan B and so are reduced to being pathetic and stupid.

Let us all take an hour to imagine a Fourth term of Labour Governace.

What would be the likely outcome if by some travesty Helengrad perpetuates?

The fun we had on John ‘Baby Eater’ Key doing despicable things in the distant past.

Imagine another 3 years of oppression, what would we have to endure? Certainly a 5th term in my opinion!

A totalitarian regime to last at least a 1000 tears!
