Just on my way out as it happens, just thought I’d do my weekly check of the crazy, Friday night crowd here at KB.

One would hardly say that he management “agreed to” it, rather that they had no other option but to give in rather than face a strike that would have seen them lose further market share to the Japs.

Another of the facts you refuse to acknowledge Sonic is that the big three warned the unions they could not afford the extra benefits and pay increases, the warned them that the money pot was not bottomless yet the unions refused to listen, the unions were happy to gamble the future of their workers (as if union bosses ever give a shit about the workers) jobs to win unfordable pay and benefit increases.

Have a great night out Sonic, while you are sniffing the seats of chicks you could never pull in a million years think about the abject hiding you have taken here tonight.

If there is one lesson to be learnt from it Sonic it is this, you can fool some of the people some of the time and then you run into somebody who has spent 30 years in the industry you clearly know nothing about, at that stage it is advisable to make a hasty and face saving retreat instead of hanging around and confirming your stupidity

Never mind, have fun Sonic and remember, don’t drink and drive.

This is true and goes way back to the early nineties. It’s a matter of commercial viability, if a company continues to lose money, it’s finished. The result, the US will lose a significant manufacturing base and the UAW will lose tens of thousands of members. But that’s the way capitalism works, if a company stagnates or is loss making, it fails, no outfit is immune, even Microsoft will falter one day.

My father worked in car factories much of his life. Was sacked from Ford when his manager called him in one day and said “Jim, you’ve been forman 3 months and haven’t sacked anyone. Sack someone now”. Dad said ” you want someone sacked, sack ’em yourself” and walked out.

From there he went to Motor Producers, a plant that assembled Datuns, Volkswagens and Volvos. yes, assembled, from CKD kits. Nissane eventually bough the factory, threw out the VW and Volvos and turned it into a full scale car manufacturing plant.

So yeah, unlike you you unreconstructed fucknut, I DO know the difference,.

So, your point is?

Its becoming a bit clearer now Mr Borker. This anger … its because dad couldn’t follow instructions. This must be hard to bear. Tell me: is there a pattern here? Did all the car companies daddy worked for go out of business? And how long ago was that? 30 years ago? I know how you feel. I once got the corporals from a teacher for doing absolutely nothing OVER 30 years ago. Proof positive that ALL teachers are arseholes and will be for the next 300 plus years. I just wish I could remember his name so that I could go on hating him for the rest of my life. The green gargoyle was brought up on stories of the waterfront strike. Did you listen to this story at daddy’s knee. Will you be passing it on down through the generations? Lest we forget (the really important stuff).

Yes GM, the typical jealousy of the rooted right for anyone other than themselves who dares, by hard work, too earn a good income. You would have them all on $2 an hour, wouldn’t you?

Who fucked the global banking system? Workers in GM factories, or cunts in suits slapping each other on the back and taking home mammoth bonuses while all the time their house of cards is collapsing around them? Who stole from the shareholders and destroyed the shareholder’s investments? I’ll tell you, the same cunts in suits.

The people who stand to gain from doing so, billy. A very very very small handful. All the rest were bit players who merely operated the vehicle once it had been set in a certain direction. To blame everyone who participated is like blaming everyone on the crew of the Titanic for what happened there.

BTW billy, what’s an “unreconstructed” fucknut as opposed to a plain common-or-garden fucknut?

Borker I dont believe it could be called jealousy in pointing out that USD$ 77 per hour is a tad excessive for a bunch of workers to just assemble cars in a factory – particularly when those factories are alredy in the crap
Neither do I think it appropiate for those men in suits to be taking home mammoth bonuses or others to be flying private jets to the begging bowl

This is not jealousy, it’s just pointing out stupidity and greed

You will notice however Glutaemus or the “rooted right” had the decency to refer to them as ‘workers’ whilst you again demonstrate your incredibly low standards by classifying an entire sector of the community by using the “C’ word (twice)

Clearly you know nothing about the topic apart from the lies handed down to you from your old man.

The unions were extremely militant during the CKD era, there is no way that they would have allowed a foreman to sack a worker for the sake of it, indeed many workers caught with stolen property in their possession were often only warned lest it result in an all out strike.

Unjustified strikes were an annual event in the early to mid 80’s, one year it would be the Ford plants union scum who created a supposed injustice that resulted in all of the other CKD plants going out in support of their “brothers” the next year it might be GM or NZ Motor Corp.

Borker, it is quite clear that you know fuck all about this industry and its history, I could tell you many stories about the generosity of certain assemblers who helped their workers through an unjustified strike only to have that generosity tossed back in their faces the next time one of the other plants “created” a reason to go on strike however it would be wasted on you as you have no interest in the truth.

Cha, I think this is the most important point in that article:

I have been saying this repeatedly. Everyone’s imagination failed here. The lenders, the borrowers, the finance sector, first home buyers, speculators, politicians, regulators, central bankers. It is not really fair for any one sector to point the finger at any other sector.

Underlying it, I keep saying, and getting negative karma for it, is the breakdown of morals and ethics that our grandparents subscribed to. Their generation would never have done this. They believed in work, saving, responsibility, and paying off debt.
