David – a couple of questions, (if you would be so gracious)
Is it standard practice to receive 20 demerits for implying that an MP is fat?
I ask because I read far worse things said about the likes of Helen Clark but you take no action there. Does demeriting only apply when National Party Mps are taunted? It seems hypocritical and I’m sure you don’t mean to be a hypocrite!
Secondly, I noticed that yesterday, you threatened to give greenfly (annoying arse that he is) demerits if he ‘impersonated’ you, which he then proceeded to do. You then banned him for life. There seems to be a disconnect with what you said you would do, and what you did do.
I looks very inconsistent and smells like bullying to me!

[DPF: As you are posting from the a similiar e-mail address and same IP address as Greenfly, you should not talk about him in the third person. And your deliberate ignoring of my warning was enough to convince me you are a troll whose only intention is to disrupt. The demerits are a guide, not a straitjacket for me.]

Bloody Vodafone. USELESS.

Daughter had her cell phone stolen on saturday night. Sunday morning call to Vodafone to have the account cancelled was a joke. Automated response that says it is out of hours then lists the times to call etc..after a long wait there is finally a “push ###” if you have had your phone lost or stolen….yay..but not quite..

Some nice young chap in India tells me I can’t call, my daughter has to, even though I have her pin and she’s at work. She calls during a break but nooo, she needs me to call as I own the account, which I told the nice man in India in the first place. So back I call to be told my daughter needs to call…..on and on we go for an hour.

Once it was sorted the nice man from India had a polite parting comment “you know you will charged for cancellling your contract early”…

Heard on the news this morning that Roger Douglas has said that Clark begged him to come back as Finance Minister.

I hope this doesn’t get ignored in the media as it shows just how two-faced, hypocritical and dishonest she is.

My only concern is that Douglas should have said something much earlier! Publicly they treated him like a leper, why did he protect her & Cullen? (I am assuming Douglas is being honest, never know him to be otherwise)

The important issue is the question of whether greenfly is actually claiming three salaires from the greens for his paid trolling activities by having a mutliple personality disorder (along with just plain having a generally shit personality).

NZX farm media buy sparks competition complaint

NZX’s acquisition of farming publisher Country-Wide has sparked a complaint to the Commerce Commission.

The complaint was made by Max Bowden, publisher and editor-in-chief of Trans Tasman, The Main Report and an agricultural newsletter, who said he believed the acquisition breached the Commerce and Fair Trading Acts.

He said he was deeply concerned that NZX was trying to act both as a regulator and a player in the rural publishing market, The Dominion Post reported today.

Bowden said he was particularly worried about an internal memo sent to staff on Tuesday by NZX business acquisitions manager Rachael Cross.

“The acquisition will enable us to corner the market as the provider of agri information, news and media on NZ agri sector for farmers and corporates alike,” Ms Cross said.

NZX chief executive Mark Weldon described the criticism as “bonkers”.

“It is desperate balderdash to suggest there is any conflict of interest,” he said.

It sounded like typical responses from competitors, he said.

** Sounds like the NZX has some problems in reconciling its dual role as regulator and market participant. Perhaps the commerce commission should be taking a closer look.

Real estate agents are giving up on the industry, as the recession continues to make life tough.

Figures from the Real Estate Institute show 19 per cent of sales agents have dropped out in the past year (ending in April) – which means nearly 4,000 people have left.

President Mike Elford says the bottom line is there has been a dramatic downturn in sales. He says while no one is making the kind of money they once were, those left are still doing alright.

I argue that the economic fundamentals show that NZ is in exactly the same monetary trap as all the other countries that have had a catastrophic bubble collapse.

Yes, if a cheaper and higher quality competitor comes into the market, I guess they would be sorted out.
Over here in Aussie we have 4 (at least) networks with their own infrastructure to choose from. At present only Telstra (incumbent) have regional 3G coverage (which is excellent but dear). Regional coverage for the other 3 is via the patchy Telstra GSM network.
I had heaps of trouble dealing with Telstra, they had really usesless people in their call centre (not all of them Indian either). Last year I went on contract with Hutchison3 (the ones who sponsor the cricket) and their service is truly excellent. I came over to NZ for a few months and instead of insisting that I pay for the full contract I signed up for they reduced it to a minimum for me with no fees. While I was in NZ I lost the SIM from my phone (I was using the NZ Vodafone network which is slow as a wet week and expensive as) and they replaced it free. They also unlocked my phone free of charge so I could use it in NZ – Telstra charge you $50. Basically they are there to help. Also when I signed up, the girl in the 3 shop told me that when I call up I’ll get to talk to Indians – “but they’re good Indians!” Which they are. And much cheaper than Telstra too.
Contrast that to Telstra. When I cancelled my 3G internet account they would not put the credit on my (postpaid) account into my bank account, despite the fact that even the tax office do that nowadays. They insisted on a cheque, which is inconvenient for me as I use an internet banking only account and it would have cost me $3 to bank a $20 cheque. I offered for them to credit my prepay Telstra phone – they wouldn’t do it. In the end I got it credited to a family member, as I’d rather them have it than Telstra. I find it highly unlikely that I will be using Telstra’s services again.

So yes, Tuija, the market will sort it out.

Looks like the taxpayer is going to have to stump up big time for the governance stuff up at NIWA. Seems the scaking of Dr Jim Sallinger was a case of personality politics.

Even thou I have never agreed with Sallinger he does have an international reputation.

When are we going to get some decent governance into these government organisations. The problem is they are run like Mannies Music Parlour with liteweights who lack the ability to govern and manage

And so we will all be paying for the incompetence when the Court determines he was unjustly dismissed.

1. Greenfly. The person is typical of the scum that supported Clark, Cullen & Co. It is important that reptilian slimeballs such as Greenfly appear on here. Otherwise readers will forget what a despicable species of mankind they are. Please reinstate that contributor. Readers are free to overlook what he/she/it writes.
2. Aussies; An Aussie supermarket chain used the Resource Management Act for 20 years to stop a New Zealand company opening a supermarket in Wairau Road, North Shore. I will wager huge money that if a New Zealand owned company tried the same trick in Cabramatta, that after one year the Aussie court would tell them to get stuffed.
3. Aussies; I was a Randwick races in New South Wales on Anzac Day. The race book cover had two flags in colour. The Aussie flag (it is Aussie) and, I could not believe it, the Union Jack. Anzac is acronym and those sons of sheep stealers studiously ignore the second and third letters of that acronym.
4. Aussies; I have been trying to get an Aussie Tax File Number for two New Zealanders and a N.Z. IRD number for an Aussie. Those Aussie bureaucrats are absolutely impossible. Dunedin tax office processed the Aussie in a prompt and polite manner.
5. Aussies; their bureaucracy is unbelievable. I transferred AUD13,500 from MY Aussie account to MY N.Z. account( with the same outfit) and they rang from Sydney because I usually sign A.B. Sea, but on my fax message requesting the change I signed Archibald B. Sea. For Christ’s sake it was going from MY Aussie a/c to MY N.Z. a/c.
6. Aussies; Try setting up a cheque a/c in Aussie for a N.Z. owned company. It will drive you nuts.
7. Radio News. They mention the Act candidate as a millionaire as if that is derogotary, but omit to mention that the only candidate that approves of privatised mercenaries is the Labour candidate.
8. I feel better now.
