Looks like the figures on the travel bill saga have had a delicious end. The utterly incompetent Treasury (who never check their figures and ask the basic question – does this make sense) have revised their figures in the 3 months of last year the same period this year for National, the Labour Government actually spent MORE than National. This spikes completely the beat up of Phil Goff on travel spending.

TV3 convicted of Rugby World Cup advertising breach.

This is ridiculous, it means TV channels can run commercials ‘out of time’ for payment of a minimal fee.

Perhaps Crown Law shoud try and recoup TV3’s extra revenue under the Proceeds Of Crimes Act.

By the way the issue is a ridiculously small penalty for a breach of the law – whether this should be the law is an entirely separate issue. It is not the role of the judiciary to make their own judgments on the validity of Parliament’s laws but they sometimes do.

Witness the Court of Appeal’s ‘white anting’ in the early 2000’s of the ‘good faith’ requirements in the Employment Relations Act 2000.

Just a wee point on Ministerial travel. I hope that Ministers do make full use of Ministerial cars and not feel obligated to drive themselves to save a bit of money. The late Sir Robert Muldoon drove himself from Vogel House to Parliament each day. That is just not on – a moments inattention or judgment lapse can lead to all sorts of political consequences. Ruth Dyson suffered the consequences of self-driving causing Helen Clark quite rightly to say that is what Ministerial cars are for.

I think it was the driving back from Parliament to Vogel House that was actually the problem (or the potential problem – how the hell he didn’t hit something or someone in the condition he was usually in at end of day has always amazed me).

..it is just that that (pulled/stopped) research..(funded by fonterra)..

..found the ‘smoking gun’ on the link between our worldbeating rates of dairy consumption..

..and our world beating rates of deaths from’ thick-blood’ diseases..

..(basically..in simple terms..

..what dairy does is ‘thicken your blood’..hence cardiac-arrests/strokes etc etc..

..that is the ‘conspiracy’ part of the story hurf durf..

..that when that auckland university researchers found that smoking gun..(in 2007)

..(and stopped the research into ‘the benifits of milk’ .. ‘cos of fears for the health of their test-subjects)

..that fonterra/the researchers have kept quiet about their findings..since then..

..(one would assume that conspiracy of silence is ‘cos of the economic implications for one of our major export-earners..)

..and of course..here/now..we continue our world-beating rates of dairy consumption..

..and our world beating rates of thick-blood’ diseases/deaths..

..and that fonterra now know what they are doing to us…

Yeah, I know, New Zealanders eat more of it per capita because it’s part of the traditional diet, being an agrarian and rural society. It’s a similar situation everywhere else: people with large dairy intake have CVD problems. There’s no need for your demented droolings about Fonterra pulling funding for research for things we (or at least, I) already know about. And I will continue to drink milk and eat cheese because, well, it’s healthy as long I eat in moderation. You hear that? MODERATION.

Also: benefits of milk and dairy = no osteoporosis. But then, why do you care? You’ll just get a new hip on the taxpayer’s cent. As per usual.
