They are. I know a few mentally imbalanced people. Some believe in the bible. Some do not. I know a few people are aren’t mentally imbalanced. Some believe in the bible. Some do not.

Really? I should have thought that one group makes particularly poor use of, and accelerates the passage of time between, the believing and the receiving.

Sadly, atrocities are committed ‘in the name of God’ buy all sorts of people, of religious and non-religious. That’s been the case since Adam was lad, or since he was an amoeba – depending on your inclination. Quite how anyone can compare modern Christianity with the tragicly violent teachings of Islam is beyond me.

Yes, I have,

But lately I do not feel good about doing it.

With a country which such cultural, social and violence problems is that the image we really want to present to the world representing the modern multi-cultural NZ.

It’s not for me anymore, that is all.

It is sad to see a country self-destructing from afar.

And perhaps some of my comments are overboard with anger, disappointment and frustration.

But I suppose it is passionate communication that creates change.

Do a bit of research on fundamentalist Christianity in the States , given , the militias , use the relegion as a tool but so do the jihadists . There is not a lot of difference with the extremists on either side

Like the jihadists you have both groups poorly educated, open to rumour and suggestion from mullahs and preachers preying on ignorance.

Timothy McVeigh went to the needle thinking he had done the right thing, he was of the militia fundamentalist ilk.

Scott, the pro-life crowd who support capital punishment and then the pro-choice mob who oppose capital punishment, the hypocrisy sickens me. And of course the “the freedom loving socialist nanny state can stay out of my life but I want to tell women what to do with their bodies” people crack me up too.

So, not owning a womb my own view is worthless but I do think that abortion as contraception is wrong.

I do accept the need for termination in abuse cases, where there exists a real threat to the mothers health or the prospect of a live birth, and I’ve seen it first hand, condemning someone to a very short life of misery.

Until all women have access to confidential sexual health advice, family planning services and contraception the demand for and the need to provide safe and legal terminations will remain.

As for capital punishment, the notion of state sanctioned murder sickens me and is something that I, as a citizen, want absolutely nothing to do with.

They want to say what they have to say without fear of contradiction, and then hear someone on television tell them they’re right. They don’t want the rule of the people, though that’s what they say. They want to be people without rules—and, who knows, they may succeed. This is America, where wishes come true. And where no one remembers the adage “Beware what you wish for.”

What I’m on about is that extremisim in anything, especially politics and religion is really friggin dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

People seem to hit the panic button when something they don’t like happens and views become more and more extreme until we have peole blowing up government buildings .

Come on Hurf Durf, you know as well as I do that if dem teabaggor xtians had been behind the Times Square attempt the damn thing would have most certainly detonated and there would have something way more sophisticated than a few LPG cylinders and cans of petrol involved. And besides, dem teabaggor xtians are so outraged they would’ve jammed double the amount of bang in it and parked the thing in Wall Street.

Sure, there are nuts right across the religious spectrum. I’ve already said that. But you’d have a job convincing me that the scale of modern religiously-inspired atrocities is evenly balanced. I guess some people hate Christians and Christianity sufficiently to try to assemble such a case. At least those people live somewhere they’re free to put such a case together.

cha – Completely different cases – one deserves the right to defend their OWN property, the other is about the deliberate violence undertaken on an innocent boy as the murderer was about to rob someones property (two vandals that threaten to attack a man after continuously vandalising his property are NOT INNOCENT). In many jurisdictions the man who murdered Daniel Bobby Tumata would live in prison untill his death while Bruce Emery would be free now as they recognise property rights and the right to defend their property.

Regardless of the Bruce Emery case, murdering a 14 year old whilst attempting to commit a murder warrants a F&ck!ing longer sentence than 14 years. One can only hope that the judge who allowed this to occur will one day have to take account of his actions.

Against this, 55 per cent of us voted for parties of the (relative) centre-left –

– the same proportion who say they want a country that is less unequal and less unfair.

In any other European country, where they have democratic voting systems, it wouldn’t even have been close.

This would have been a centre-left landslide, with Cameron humiliated.

Elections are supposed to be an opportunity for the people to express the direction in which they want the country to travel.

By that standard, this result is an insult.

Don’t fall for the people who say the Lib Dem vote was “ambiguous”: …

… a YouGov poll just before the election found that Lib Dem voters identified as “left-wing” over “right-wing” … by a ratio of 4:1.

Only 9 per cent sided with the right.

Lib Dem voters wanted to stop Cameron, not install him.

So before you start squabbling about the extremely difficult parliamentary arithmetic … or blaming the stupidly tribal Labour negotiators for their talks with the Lib Dems breaking down …
