Children can be left on the drugs for years and are not properly monitored, despite side effects such as dramatic weight gain, diabetes, heart disorders and a Parkinson’s disease-like tremor that continues even after the medication is stopped.
Worryingly, nobody knows what the long-term side effects are and pharmaceutical companies have blocked all requests for data on trials involving children.

(Mind you, this concept was foreign to the original Leonardo, as it was Newton who first stated it as a Law.)

Usually leads to a bigger explosion.

You’re not the only one concerned about where this is going to end up. The drug was welcomed as a solution to hyper activity but it amazes me that this condition only seemed to surface after corporal punishment was banned & the nannies took over the teaching profession.

The fact that the kids’ Ritalin is trafficked on the illegal drug market should give some idea of the potency of the drug.

Irish Ghost Story

It was the middle of a very dark and stormy night, a guy was on the side of the road hitch hiking. As the night rolled on, cars were scarce, and no lights lined the street.
The storm was so strong he could barely see a few feet ahead of him.

Suddenly in the distance he saw the head lights of a car coming towards
him and without any reason it slowed to a stand still beside him.

Without hesitation, the guy hurriedly gets into the car and closes the
door only to realize there is no one sitting behind the wheel. All of a
sudden the car begins to move, the guy looks at the road ahead and
notices a sharp curve coming his way. Scared, he starts to pray, begging for his life. Still in shock, but just before he hits the curve, a hand appears through the window and turns the wheel. Paralysed with
terror,the guy watches how the hand appears every time they approach a curve.

Gathering all the strength he has, the guy grabs the door latch,rolls
out onto the pavement and runs as fast as he can to the nearest town.

Dripping wet and in shock the guy runs into a crowded local bar, asks for two shots of whisky and begins to tell everybody about the horrible
experience he just went through. Everyone is glued in silence and
amazement as they notice the guy shaking, crying but clearly not drunk.

About half an hour later two guys walk into the same bar and in
amazement one says to the other.

“Look Mick, that’s the arsehole that got in the car when we were pushing
it!”

Have to disagree with you there. I was right at the tail end (pun intended) of corporal punishment, and was regularly caned. You’d mark it on your belt and show off your stripes, and for a day or two, your popularity would peak. It became a pissing contest for many of us.

Also, I have a nephew who’s academic achievement and behaviour has dramatically improved since being prescribed ritalin.

Key was quoted as saying, ‘Well ackshully i dunno what happened. Last time i was there it was hot as but thats life eh’

It may have been rite of passage to leave college with a belt that looked like a cross cut saw but fact was even the school hard men knew the consequences of getting too far offside with the ‘system’. I don’t think we should go back in time & the type & frequency of the corporal punishment we were delivered was excessive by most standards. I was a pupil at a church boarding school not far from Auckland & we had three teachers out of the staff room muster who were utter psychos.

Thing about the use of Ritalin & such is that it is issued very readily & there seems to be little time spent trying gradual withdrawal from the drug. It could be a case of take a pill X times a day forever, that’s cured it, next please.

Reid, about the same amount of those fuckers try to make nests in my tractor everyday. The bastards never give up, three tractors have burnt to the ground around here in the last two weeks. You can no longer get insurance if the company can prove the tractor caught fire by way of birds. They are arseholes but the amount of bugs they eat everyday must be in the tonnes, I would rather live with them then without them.

Personally at my school we didn’t do that, for it would have been rather gay, we would have thought. We didn’t really like it actually, well I didn’t and I can’t recall anyone saying they did.

Corporal punishment however is not vicious angry beating as people these days seem to imagine it was, thanks to the deluded insane lefties like Sue Bradford. Personally I didn’t particularly like the thought of heading to the master’s office, although one time it was quite funny. One boy had left in the fifth form and in the early part of the sixth form came back to school in his car, a rally mini, in which he was quite good. So we all piled in and we went roaring round the school grounds, through the tracks we had there, it was great. However for some reason as soon as we pulled up outside our boarding house, the housemaster was waiting for us and seemed rather angry. He marched us in and gave us all six of the weakest I’ve ever had, cause he was so angry.

It’s a shame corporal punishment has been banned, for I’m sure there’s a big moral in there somewhere. Something like: if you do it, do it big. Make them so mad they lose all sense of anything, then it’ll all be OK. I think that’s a good thing to teach our young, I’ve certainly benefited from it over the years.

They take it for granted that the whole economy can be thought about as if it were a single, consistent person or dynasty carrying out a rationally designed, long-term plan, occasionally disturbed by unexpected shocks, but adapting to them in a rational, consistent way… The protagonists of this idea make a claim to respectability by asserting that it is founded on what we know about microeconomic behavior, but I think that this claim is generally phony. The advocates no doubt believe what they say, but they seem to have stopped sniffing or to have lost their sense of smell altogether.’

I have no time to dig it up for you on the net about treasury forecasting in the past about forecast versus actuality (its on NOT PC blog), but if you examine the graph (observed versus forecast) you can see that there is more than 95% wrong. WHY? The macro models are based on equilibrium, while complex system such as economy never settles on equilibrium (Demand & Supply never equals at any particular point in time).

John Key just used the Treasury’s job forecasts for the next 3 years in his debate with Phil Goff to state that there will be more than 10s of thousands of jobs that will be created by then. The public buys into this sort of economic bullshit from Treasury. Again, this is based on equilibrium models, which is bullshit.

The idiots at the Treasury think they’re smart but actually they’re dull for keep using models that have been falsified.
