Your parable doesn’t tie in with your stated views. If the world is a playground, then America’s the bully. Mostly a decent sort, but if she doesn’t like you, then watch out. And she’s got lots of friends who all adopt her ways because she’s so cool, and she doesn’t like the poor Emos, so she gets everyone to gang up on them and she spreads malicious rumours about them.

And some of the Emos are absolute fucktards. One day a few years back (9th of September I think) one of them came up behind America with a 4 by 2 and smacked her over the head and then ran off. Gave her a nasty bruise, but that didn’t matter cause she rounded up a few of her mates and torched a whole bunch of other Emos, cause everyone knows:

Once she arrived at the school to pick up her daughter, school officials told her to call for help, she said.

“I asked them if they could ring the police, they said no they can’t do that, I had to do it. I said, you should call an ambulance for her because she couldn’t move her neck properly. They said for me to take her to the doctors.”

Ms Hawkins has been visiting her daughter every day since she was admitted to hospital.

She said she was disgusted to find out that the vicious attack had been filmed and uploaded online.

“It was bad enough finding out that she got attacked, but when I saw the video camera, I broke down. That was shocking. I wouldn’t wish that on any mother to see what I saw.”

Flaxmere principal Louise Anaru told TV3 that an ambulance was not called because the family said they would take the injured girl to hospital.

She said bullying was a problem they were working on at the school.

“Bullying and fighting is a national issue, and certainly while we had some incidents at the beginning of the year, these decreased markedly over term two and three, and there were none apart from this incident in term four.”

Ms Hawkins said it was likely Adriana would still be in hospital for Christmas.

Well I don’t think NZ will ever have the same pay is Australia for the simple reason of population density and being a global backwater, but it would be nice to at least not fall behind constantly. I could be earning 1/3 more than I do now off the bat, but I’ve got job security and a family here, so I’d rather rough it out then skip ship. I just have faith in NZ’s potential.

Suppression breach claim in Radio NZ journo murder

One of two Lower Hutt teenagers charged with the murder of Radio New Zealand journalist Phillip Cottrell has been granted continued name suppression.

Mr Antunovic and Waipuka’s lawyer, Rob Stevens, also secured image suppression, arguing identity was an issue in the case.

When his client was called this morning, Mr Antunovic asked to address Judge David McKegg and the prosecutor in chambers

Now as I recall its was public information well before he went to court.
Wasn’t this law changed or are we still waiting?

I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding
on U.S. 166 Eastbound at Mile Marker 73 just East of Sedan, KS.
I asked for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.
The lady took out the required information and handed it to me.
In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age)
to see she had a conceal carry permit. I looked at her and ask if
she had a weapon in her possession at this time.

She responded that she indeed had a .45 automatic in her glove box.
Something—body language, or the way she said it—made me want
to ask if she had any other firearms. She did admit to also having
a 9mm Glock in her center console. Now I had to ask one more
time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have
just one more, a .38 special in her purse. I then asked her what
was she so afraid of.

She looked me right in the eye and said, “Not a fucking thing!”

The issue is the US has no engine. It has nothing but its reputation and its military. Its manufacturing base which made it what it was has been offshored.

If the US loses the reserve, it’s all over for them – they lose everything, military, the whole shebang.

And that’s not just conceivable it’s imminently conceivable, since they’re currently ~~printing~~ easing, yet again.

As I’ve said previously one possible strategy for the US is the issuance of a gold-backed replacement for the dollar and that is possible and seemingly the only option short of war which may happen also, if Israel bombs Iran.

So I’m looking forward to 2012. We certainly are living in interesting times, aren’t we.

Powerlineblog has addressed that claim here. A lot of that is about interpretation, which they point out. The relevant part is this:

OK FES so not as dire as I painted but dire nevertheless for even if 60k is the threshold that’s extremely low even if you’re a single parent and one child let alone a bigger unit.

That’s a hell of a lot of people on a real lousy income in an expensive to live country with no way of driving itself out through foreseeable means.

The National Party and others are the democratically elected government of New Zealand for the next three years and a good bet for at least 3 more.

They will sell up to 49% of some government owned business’s , so you can shout all you want ,it will happen,people are happy for it to happen, some Iwi ,companies and individuals are cashed up and are able to buy shares in these business’s, good on them and good luck.

If people were going to protest asset sales they would have already done so. But the truth is all we are likely to see is the usual rent a mob nutters and union thugs marching around looking like brainless zombies. Who cares?

the policy withstood a general election, and the party advocating asset sales had its largest win in decades. The policy is a done deal, and all the hot air from Polly and other whining lefty losers makes not a shred of difference to reality.

Polly has been telling everyone here for months that National was going to lose the election over asset sales, that the only poll that counts is on election day, that little green men in spaceships were going to land in Aotearoa/New Zealand and show us all the error of asset sales….blah blah blah.

Everyone of of his/her/its predictions about the election were utterly wrong. Polly is a deluded and delusional ranter with no shred of credibility.
