A young construction worker was seriously injured when he fell onto a steel rod and was impaled in Auckland this afternoon.
The man, thought to be aged 18, was doing work for Canam Construction at Meadowbank Primary School when the incident occurred about 1.15pm.
An ambulance spokesman said he was thought to have been impaled through his rectum.
Ouch indeed. Luckily it looks like he will survive to be the butt of a few jokes at his workplace.
