mm, I would say that homosexual orientations are just as harmful to both mental and physical health.
Look at what a writer says in the gay magazine Xtra (“Canada’s health care system is homophobic, says group, Six queers file human rights complaint”, Julia Garro, Xtra Tuesday, February 17, 2009.) It’s in Canada, where homosexuality has been legal for many years –

Over the past 10 years [Government] have contracted with experts on gay, lesbian, bisexual health to produce studies … issues affecting queer Canadians includes lower life expectancy than the average Canadian, suicide, higher rates of substance abuse, depression, inadequate access to care and HIV/AIDS… all kinds of health issues that are endemic to our community… higher rates of anal cancer in the gay male community, lesbians have higher rates of breast cancer … more GLBT people in this country who die of suicide each year than die from AIDS, there are more who die early deaths from substance abuse than die of HIV/AIDS… now that we can get married everyone assumes that we don’t have any issues … A lot of the deaths that occur in our community are hidden … Those of us who are working on the front lines see them and I’m tired of watching my community die”

Life expectancy of gay/bisexual men in Canada is 20 years less than the average; that is 55 years.
GLB people commit suicide at rates from 2 to 13.9 times more often than average.
GLB people have smoking rates 1.3 to 3 times higher than average.
GLB people have rates of alcoholism 1.4 to 7 times higher than average.
GLB people have rates of illicit drug use 1.6 to 19 times higher than average.
GLB people show rates of depression 1.8 to 3 times higher than average.
Gay and bisexual men (MSM) comprise 76.1% of AIDS cases.
Gay and bisexual men (MSM) comprise 54% of new HIV infections each year.
If one uses Statistics Canada figure of 1.7% of GLB becoming infected, that is 26 times higher than average.
GLB people are at a higher risk for anal cancers.

Latest Roy Morgan poll, under Coalition Options, they give National projected seats 56 + United Future 1 = 57/121 – 4 fewer than the minimum needed to govern.
As some say emphatically the Election gave National the mandate to partially sell some SOEs, do they still have that mandate, under this latest poll?

Interesting in the revelations about Whaleoil is that he wasn’t named as a party in the case between the 2 women. I would have thought he was entitled to have his name suppressed although he may not have wished to ask following his earlier charges of breaking suppression orders which were heard by the same Judge mentioned today. If the later was the case I would have thought the suppression might have been automatically placed, even if temporarily so. It could be however that it was simply overlooked by the Court, Of course the wharfie who had details surrounding the arrangements following the death of his wife, or those that Whaleoil named, despite suppression orders, are probably enjoying the situation. Whatever the case, the Judges decision has a broader impact on the previous acceptance of how existing laws can or can’t operate in cyberspace.

@bombs- I don’t know what blog you’ve been reading, but you certainly won’t find “strong views against homosexuality” on Keeping Stock. I very seldom comment on the subject. As far as my comment to Rufus, it was merely a reference to people putting the boot into Cameron Slater over an allegation which may or may not have substance. The fact that the Herald reported it doesn’t necessarily make it so. As for my own track record, I ‘m a bit like Bono who when asked if he believed in God’s grace replied “I not only believe in it; I’m depending on it.”.

And yet the fact that these religions fundamentally contradict and oppose each other doesn’t seem to bother you at all.
Fractions even within each community are contradicting each other.

Northland Wahine, when it stays behind closed doors, it is (as you rightly say) none of my business. But when laws are changed around the issue (such as potentially marriage), and when it gets taught to primary school children as being natural, normal, and moral, then it becomes my business.
When people can be arrested for “hate speech” for saying what they believe or fined thousands of dollars for (say) not wanting to lend the church hall for a gay party, that is my business, and the business of all society that believes in freedom of religion and free speech.

How is that being bigoted? If I disagree with someone smoking does that make me bigoted as well? Or if a vegetarian disagrees with me eating meat, does that make him bigoted? You like to throw that word around, but trust me; it does not apply to me.

BTW…it’s sort of on point…has anyone actually been there when a disabled person has used the disabled toilets that are now mandatory in every eating and drinking establishment?

Centuries of fear, and yes I consider it fear, that some think homosexuality is sinful, inlawful, unnatural and possibly even contagious. The hate speech as you mention, is a speech that gays have had to put up since…well, forever. I don’t agree with their sentiment…tho I’m not surprised by it either.

Mixed marriages were once frowned upon too, yet I’d like to think we’ve moved on from there. Marrying out of your church was also considered sinful… Again, we’ve moved on.

You consider that it is natural. I do not.
Especially the sexual part. It is very obvious to me how human sexuality works complementarily (is that a word?). Scientists have long worked out the mechanics of human sexuality and how male and female work together regarding sex. I just don’t see how homosexual “sex” and heterosexual sex can be thought of as being in any way equal. I just can’t see that. Yes, I can see how some people want to do it for pleasure. More power to them. But it isn’t equal.

If this was some sort of conservation question about placing mated pairs of rare geese together, or some other sort of related green question, I don’t see folks arguing for what obviously goes against nature.

A few years back I was chastised by a fellow worker in a wheelchair for holding a swing door open for her… Apparently I was treating her like a cripple. Silly girl was dumb struck when I pointed out that I would hold a door open for anyone, able bodied or not. Although next time I would close the door in her face, so to speak.

Define unnatural. Does not occur otherwise in nature, maybe?

That fits most of human activity, sexual or otherwise. Blowjobs, Handjobs, Driving cars, playing rugby, wearing clothes, writing opinions on a blog on the internet are all “unnatural” by that definition.

Homosexuality on the other hand occurs in a number of species in nature. Proven over and over again.

The “unnatural” argument is nothing but a synonym for “homosexuality is icky”.

Like I say, look into any of the threads over the past two months or so that David has posted about gay marriage. Inside you will find dozens of posts by people like Andrei, Fletch and Scott etc. Going on and on about how it’s unnatural, how it’s an illness, how it goes hand in hand with pedophilia, how it’s destroying the family, etc… Yet when a Christian like Cameron commits an actual family destroying act like adultery there’s not a single comment out of them other than: “Ohh, I suppose you’ve never sinned before then?”

I mean, to be consistent, Andrei should have been first to comment: “Whaleoil cheating on his wife is why society is going to be destroyed and liberals are responsible.” Then Fletch should say: “Cameron is sick and marriage is between one man and one woman, not one man and two women.” Finally, Scott should say: “Debbie Brown’s vagina is a sewer pipe for the body. Cameron is a result of years of propaganda by the Left and is no doubt also a pedophile since it’s no different to adultery.” Etc.

Find me a comment from Cameron Slater on how every married man should commit adultery, and you’ll see me condemning the position – not the man. Which I certainly have before, as I’ve made comments on this blog (within the last month, most liekly) on how viewing pornography equates to cheating your wife if you are a married man. But I then didn’t go onto to call those who identified themselves as porn users as cheaters or adulterers, I just told them that it was wrong and why. I can only hope that silent readers will realise that porn is not a manly thing to view and be given the strength to do so once they know they shouldn’t be doing it.

As to today’s revelation, which I was completely unaware of until about 15 minutes ago when I searched for the two names you gave, I also have no comment. Adultery is a terrible thing, but it’s not ongoing, and therefore I see no need to dredge up sins of the past. I’m sure they are already causing enough problems as it is without me adding to it.

What you need to understand is that Christians condemn sins people are going to commit, but they don’t condemn people once they’ve committed those sins. While as those influenced by the devil encourage all sorts of sins, but then condemn forever those who have sinned, and expect the same from Christians. It’s a huge distinction, but one worth wrapping your mind around, and for us Christians, it’s something I know I constantly have to remind myself of.

And besides, it’s what we expect the police to do when they arrest child rapists and killers of kids.Hate what they have done, but protect them none the less, from other evil dooers.

It’s not something that the last couple of police commissioners have invented.

Usually if a cats on your shoulder they want dinner. As for the poor dog, does it chase cows, sheep, ducks, swans, geese, pigs or deer? . Is it a really good dog, does it chase insurance agents, council workers and meter readers? these dogs are worth heaps.

..was while i was holding it cupped in two hands.. and tucked into the warmth of my kneck..

..it has been a favourite spot since..(and its’ belly is full..it is on demand-feed..they all are..)

..and the dogs are very friendly…they ‘chase’ no-one..

Puzzled,

I would definitely opt my children out if they were affected, as I would be concerned about what type of Bible-based values were being taught. In my opinion, you either send your child to a religious school, and/or you teach them your religion yourself. Leaving it to someone to do that you may not agree with is just asking for trouble.

What about a health education class that talked about condoms being a safe guard against STD’s and AIDS.

cows4me, we have two cats and 7 sheep at the moment (was 10 last week, but you know how it works :)). Not too keen on dogs, I must admit, especially the nighbour’s dogs who annoy the sheep. No major problems yet with my sheep, but some sheep on neighbouring properties have been mauled by dogs unknown, so I tend to get a bit nervous when I hear them barking.
