Jon Voight telling Daily Caller that Obama controls the U.S media (to the point of not even covering the Republican Convention) as much as Hugo Chavez does in Venezuela.

TAMPA, Fla. – Award-winning actor Jon Voight told The Daily Caller at the Republican National Convention that he thinks President Barack Obama’s administration has “taken over” the mainstream media in a manner similar to how leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez controls media in his country.

“The media has been taken over by this administration,” Voight, an outspoken Hollywood conservative, said in an interview with TheDC. “It’s not less than what has happened in Venezuela with Hugo Chavez, really, because you can’t get the information through. I’m giving you this because I want to get the press my opinion. You can put it in any way you want to. But, it’s become pure propaganda and we should be appalled.”

“I mean look at the main media is not going to cover the Republican convention?” Voight added as an example. “This is propaganda, pure and simply. They say, ‘well, we’ll give them an hour.’ They’ll edit an hour – well, what will they edit out? What is the story they will tell? Do you understand?”

“Guys, you should be appalled,” Voight continued. “America, guys, wake up. You should be appalled that they can get away with it, that they can attack – the Republican Party is a victim of a bias, of a destructive bias against the Republican Party. It’s been going on for all this time and it’s getting worse and worse. And, now this? Come on, people, stand up.”

Voight said he thinks Mitt Romney will win the upcoming election in November, too.

“Gov. Romney, I think because of Gov. Romney’s great talents, his great compassion, his great gifts of leadership, he’s going to win this election,” he said. “The people are going to become aware of these qualities. Now, what the other side has done is try to diminish all this – they’ve lied about him, they’ve done all this stuff trying to hide the true character of this man and the greatness of the fellow. Once people come to see that, they will be voting for him.”

Voight also recommended that voters watch Dinesh D’Souza’s new film, “2016.”

“It’s a tremendous piece of work – as an artist, I look at it and see this is a very well-produced piece,” he said. “But this piece gives you very good insight into what the Obama agenda is. And, it’s very concerning, but I say go see it. It’s not done in any – it’s not a strident movie. It’s not polemical. It’s information and it’s a very very well done documentary and it will give you understandings that you don’t have because the media in our country has been bought and sold in some ways.”

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone (except perhaps for a few who have become IQ impaired).

Analysis of more than 1000 New Zealanders found those who took up cannabis in adolescence and used it for years afterwards experienced an average decline in IQ of eight points when measured at age 13 and 38.

– Lasting IQ damage from teen dope use.

Yes its a great piece of journalism PG
There is no figures for the decline in the IQ of the population at large or for relative declines of the two groups
I am to thick to bother looking up the actual research but would bet that the population at large suffers a decline of around 5 percent and the figure given is a difference of 3points and is outside of the margin of error for the sample size.
The whole article smells of selective statistical picking to present a preformed opinion as fact
Ps long term dope smoker and I really dont miss 8points from 145 it just makes me more like the rest of you thickos. however if you started with only 100 you may begin to eat yourself or vote labour at only 92

Griff, that’s been done as a part of a world renowned ongoing study. It compared IQ pre-dope smoking to post dope smoking, and compared smoke dopers with non smoke dopers.

And the 8% is just the average decrease, someone who started on 145 could have dropped much further, potentially causing them to ignore sound research.

I have always maintained that as an adult, occasional pot smoking is pretty harmless but as an adolescent it can be very damaging.

Even when I used to frequently smoke pot I hated those people who’d spout that “Weed is harmless!” line. As much as I might have liked to believe it so it ain’t true.

PG I tried to access the full body of research but its pay to view That makes it difficult for a layman such as me to actually read and understand the full meaning of the paper. I do not trust the press on this issue and my concern on the sparsity of information in the scare stories stands. If the research does show significant results it reinforces the call for cannabis use to be brought inside of regulation like alcohol is rather than illegal and uncontrolled as now.We would then have more chance of effecting an age limit on use It is also interesting that there is litle effect on iq once you are past eighteen maybe that should be the minimum age to purchase or poses cannabis

Abstract
Recent reports show that fewer adolescents believe that regular cannabis use is harmful to health. Concomitantly, adolescents are initiating cannabis use at younger ages, and more adolescents are using cannabis on a daily basis. The purpose of the present study was to test the association between persistent cannabis use and neuropsychological decline and determine whether decline is concentrated among adolescent-onset cannabis users. Participants were members of the Dunedin Study, a prospective study of a birth cohort of 1,037 individuals followed from birth (1972/1973) to age 38 y. Cannabis use was ascertained in interviews at ages 18, 21, 26, 32, and 38 y. Neuropsychological testing was conducted at age 13 y, before initiation of cannabis use, and again at age 38 y, after a pattern of persistent cannabis use had developed. Persistent cannabis use was associated with neuropsychological decline broadly across domains of functioning, even after controlling for years of education. Informants also reported noticing more cognitive problems for persistent cannabis users. Impairment was concentrated among adolescent-onset cannabis users, with more persistent use associated with greater decline. Further, cessation of cannabis use did not fully restore neuropsychological functioning among adolescent-onset cannabis users. Findings are suggestive of a neurotoxic effect of cannabis on the adolescent brain and highlight the importance of prevention and policy efforts targeting adolescents.

Heavy drinking in adolescence is indeed associated with impaired mental development. It’s hard to see what’s so controversial about the proposition that dope smoking can also cause impaired mental development amongst teens.

The problem is that the debate about pot is framed around whether or not it’s 100% safe. Yet by that measure alcohol would also be illegal as would every other drug as well as many other things in society. Dope smokers do themselves no favours by denying the obvious and unfortunately when they ring up talk-back they are the worst advocates for much needed law reform.

In other news (it must be related because it was in the same story) Willie Ripia is a sportsman who has a gambling problem. I’m sure that the journalist isn’t implying that Ryder has a gambling problem without any evidence, because that would be irresponsible.

I don’t think it is at all a matter of the Obama Whitehouse “controlling” the media. I think that it’s simply that the US media are left-wing enough that they want left-wing ideas to succeed – and if that means merely not hurting an imperfect vessel like Obama then that’s what they’ll do.

The perfect bias is not some ridiculous shilling for Obama – that’s left to insane clowns like Chris Mathews.

The perfect bias is choosing to cover stories that help Obama and burying stories that hurt him – and vice versa with Romney. Nobody can accuse you of being a shill, and even proving bias comes down to the black-hole of statistics. Even so, some of the statistics are pretty damning:

During the first 72 hours of the Akin controversy, ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening news shows ran a combined 40 segments totaling nearly 89 minutes of airtime compared to less than 20 minutes for Biden.

The networks have given Akin 10 times more coverage than they gave to credible allegations by Juanita Broaddrick back in 1999 that Bill Clinton actually committed rape.

That’s how it’s done.

People always see the bias they don’t agree with and never the bias they favour.

People like Whitehouse reporter, Jake Tapper:

“A lot of people are hurting out there. Unemployment is 8.3 percent. That doesn’t even take into account the underemployed,” he said, arguing that too much time has been spent not talking about the economy.

Tapper also criticized the media for not giving enough attention to the war in Afghanistan.

“We are spending a lot of time in the last few weeks, those of us in the political world, political journalists and also politicians, talking about things other than the economy,” said Tapper. “[A] lot of people are hurting out there. I’d like to see more action taken and more emphasis given to this issue.”

And guess which campaign wants to talk about things other than the economy? As fellow journalist Mark Halperin said on the Today Show few days before the interview with Tapper:

“The Obama folks clearly know they’ve found some traction on this tax return issue with Romney,” said NBC’s Lester Holt. “And then of course late in the week comes this challenge–‘give us a little more and we won’t complain anymore.’ Has this issue come to the point it’s jumped the shark?”

“I think the press still likes this story a lot, the media is very susceptible to doing what the Obama campaign wants, which is to focus on this,” said Halperin.

To repeat: that is all that is required, to simply follow the discussion that the Obama campaign wants to follow and not follow what the Romney campaign wants to focus on. It’s a version of the “half-truth” game and it’s very, very effective – not least because it still allows argumentative cover. But it’s still bias, and both Halperin and Tapper are simply being polite in the way the phrase it. I think they’re worried about their profession – but I think it’s too late in the aftermath of 2008: ask any Hillary Clinton supporter!

While this true, these same parents would be up in arms if their kids were removed from their care because they can’t afford or even worse, refuse to feed them. Too many enjoy the money these kids generate and to hell with the responsibility.

If LUI does have his citizenship rescinded he will still be able to have about 5 years of appeal until some soft Judge say he can stay.At least he has enough dough from his nefarious activities to pay for his defence, in fact he will need security guards to shift the horde of lawyers hammering to get in to defend him. Mind you if the unthinkable happens, no worries, he will be able to find refuge in Ecuador.

THE Gillard government faces a multi-billion dollar budget hit following its announcement today that it will axe its carbon floor price from 2015 under a deal with the European Union to link the Australian and EU carbon trading schemes.

Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said the move would not prompt a revision of federal budget figures, despite the low carbon price in Europe which has fluctuated between 3-10 Euros in recent times.

The budget forecasts $9.4 billion in revenue from carbon permits in 2015-16, based on a predicted $29 carbon price.

Mr Combet said the EU carbon price had been hit hard by the eurozone financial crisis, but it would recover.

“It is three years away,” Mr Combet said. “The treasury modelling is something we stand by.”

He said household assistance payment rates arrangements would not change.

Tony Abbott said the announcement would blow a huge hole in government revenue.

In a blog post yesterday, Sumner Burstyn said she feared for her family’s safety after her comments about Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker set off a torrent of online abuse. The furore had begun to calm after Sumner Burstyn, who has no association with the Herald, apologised and a Facebook page targeting her was deleted.

But in the blog post she said she was ignored when she contacted police and the Defence Force to report the threats. “Who do you turn to when you are under threat?,” Sumner Burstyn, who is in Canada, wrote.

she could call the NZDF. Oh she did according to her.

Sumner Burstyn said an operator at the NZDF laughed at her when she called to report the threats, which allegedly included rape and murder.

What did this twat expect? Really can you be so fucking mindlessly stupid.
