Buried in this story….. bread is donated… kids can come back at lunchtime if they don’t have any. And then it’s given away at the end of the day. You need bread when some kids are ‘big kids’. Big body fat % is more like it, and how did that happen to these ‘starving’ kids?

In the AirNZ tattoo employment issue it is pleasing to see that AirNZ follow the policy of all the Licenced Brothels in Auckland – that is no tattoos. They will tell you that the customers do not like it.
I see that a junior political reporter has taken the case in the Herald this morning showing the American Greenpeace list MP Julie Anne Genter’s fat legs with her leg tattoo.
In the same article other MPs are named with tattoos.
I cannot imagine that Tau Henare would get a job as an airline waitress with his tattoos, albeit his bedside manner would win the customers though.
I cannot imagine either that Mahuta with her tattoos would slim down enough to even get on a aircraft, let alone serve coffee/tea.

Patrick Gower doesn’t like waka jumping. It looks like he organised a poll that backs him, he got the support of three party leaders, and he thinks that’s enough to change the law regarding list MPs. Even a TV journalist doesn’t have that much power, yet.

Despite what Key, Shearer and Peters would like to be able to do I’m backing Russel Norman and Graeme Edgeler on this – A Brendon Horan or two is a lesser evil than giving party leaders the power to sack (or threaten to sack) list MPs.

And Patrick Gower doesn’t have any mandate to make and promote policy.

This misuse of schools to undermine one’s own society is not something confined to NZ or even to our own time.

It is common in Western countries for educators, the media and the intelligentsia in general, to single out Western civilization for special condemnation for sins that have been common to the human race, in all parts of the world, for thousands of years.

Meanwhile, all sorts of fictitious virtues are attributed to non-Western societies, and their worst crimes are often passed over in silence, or at least shrugged off by saying some such thing as “Who are we to judge?” “tolerance” “moral relativity”.

Even in the face of mortal dangers, political correctness forbids us to use words like “terrorist” when the approved euphemism is “militant.” Milder terms such as “illegal immigrant” likewise cannot pass the political correctness test, so it must be replaced by another euphemism, “aslyum seeker” “refugee” “undocumented worker.”

Some think that we must tiptoe around in our own country, lest some foreigners living here or visiting here be offended by the sight of a NZ flag or a Christmas tree in some institutions – but everything fucken everywhere being Maori is, well, just perfect!

And then we have the urber liberal media, education, health depts who think that some young male children might be just that so much happier if they were sodomised at some point in the future! well fuck me….actually…no thanks!

And that young girls, once educated about the ‘issues’ of sexuality will be all the better for the experiance, never mind that the end result is still more sexual diseases, teenage pregnancy/parenting problems, abortion, relationship problems, self esteem issues, and later Marriage problems. This has only ever resulted in there being more feminists, as these girls then ‘perceive’ themselves to be ‘victims’ of male behaviour.

And John Key thinks that the next generation of ‘poor kids’ will have better ‘outcomes’ if breakfast is also provided!

Regarding the special treatment of familyfirst by the charities commission – the familyfirst organisation has released more details which shows the incredibly unfair discrimination that is being foisted on them and them alone – simply because they believe in traditional marriage.

“On the day that we presented a petition containing 50,000 signatures asking for the definition of marriage to be maintained as one man one woman, one person made a 2-sentence complaint to the Charities Commission. They referred to the Commission’s website as “sh*t”, and then said the basis of their complaint was:

“That they are a religious based pressure group whose wole (sic) purpose seems to be the prevention of human rights to non hetrosexual (sic) people. I don’t see how the state should be supporting such an organisation by providing tax free status. EG, like Greenpeace.”

Yes – that’s it! This one complaint resulted in the Commission undertaking a massive investigation which ultimately resulted in Family First being deregistered – a decision which is now being challenged in the High Court.

The Commission has also admitted that only one charity who has been on the opposing side of the debates that Family First has been part of has been investigated – the Child Poverty Action Group which was investigated in 2010 and continues to qualify for registration, despite their obvious political advocacy. In fact, they were in the Court of Appeal just yesterday taking on the government!! And conservation group Forest and Bird – also a registered charity – were in the Environment Court yesterday! But our political advocacy and our traditional view of marriage being one man and one woman warrants our deregistration, according to the Commission.

Other groups that Family First enquired about included Action For Children And Youth Aotearoa, Amnesty International New Zealand Inc, EPOCH, Human Rights Foundation Of Aotearoa New Zealand, Humanist Society of NZ, Agender Christchurch Inc, QSA Network Aotearoa, and Rainbow Youth Incorporated. None of these groups have been investigated. Note also that investigations can be initiated by the Commission itself – they do not have to wait for a complaint.

The Charities Registration Board appears to be using isolated complaints by disgruntled people to muzzle groups who challenge the prevailing politically correct view.”

So only familyfirst was targeted, they were the only organisation that was deregistered. And simply because they believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.

This is blatant discrimination by the government. However it will not be investigated by the media because they don’t care about Conservative organisations.If it was rainbow youth they would be in there boots and all.

However I believe all people of goodwill should be concerned that the charities commission, a branch of the government, is actively targeting organisations that do not fit in with their politically correct agenda.

There is a reason for it: humans, as Cicero’s homo humanus, were not a race as such but a group of people under Emperor-Pontiff Constantine of the Roman Empire, who adopted Christianity as the official state religion. Similarly Western civilization can refer to civilians or the civil law as an extension of Roman law, the exception being England under English common law and related countries.

So what was it about Christianity that made it so attractive to the Roman Empire?

why should any such group hold charity status charity is to give not to influence.
There should be no special status for tax advantage for any group who’s aim is not purely

This country is deeply in the grip of the left. They control both major parties, and their agenda is always to help friends and destroy enemies.

What outrages such as the treatment of Family First show is that it is looking less and less likely that change will come through democratic means. Those who resist will continue to be placed in social gulags, and the amoral progressive media will continue to stupify the masses.

Maybe its time to forget about weak and well mannered complaints and do what the French do. Get angry.

Children need moral guidance in every area of life, not least of which in the area of sexuality. As social commentator Christina Hoff Summers has rightly remarked, “To my mind, leaving children alone to discover their own values is a little like putting them in a chemistry lab and saying, ‘Discover your own compound kids.’ If they blow themselves up, at least they have engaged in an authentic search for the self.”

Yet these mentally challenged sexperts want to strip the whole discussion of sexuality out of the moral framework in which it belongs. As former US Secretary of Education William Bennett put it, “Sex education has to do with how boys and girls, how men and women, treat each other and themselves — or, rather, should treat each other and themselves. Sex education is therefore about character and the formation of character. A sex education course in which issues of right and wrong do not occupy center stage is evasive and irresponsible.”

But we have now had decades of sex ed which tells kids all about the mechanics of sex, without a word about morality and what human personhood is all about. And the truth is, this approach has been a colossal failure. A number of reports on the success of amoral sex ed courses have appeared, and the verdict is not good.

Consider a very recent report, documenting how English sex ed courses have fared. As one English press account puts it, “A multi-million pound initiative to reduce teenage pregnancies more than doubled the number of girls conceiving. The Government-backed scheme tried to persuade teenage girls not to get pregnant by handing out condoms and teaching them about sex. But research funded by the Department of Health shows that young women who attended the programme, at a cost of £2,500 each, were ‘significantly’ more likely to become pregnant than those on other youth programmes who were not given contraception and sex advice. “

The mantra of the sex ed lobby is that sex is always only good, and any and every expression of it should be embraced. Nothing is taboo, and everything goes. The only vice according to the sex ed lobby is the narrow and restrictive values of parents and church groups.

Indeed, the worst thing that can be done is to offer any moral framework about sex. No judgment is allowed. In fact, Planned Parenthood insists that “the most important lesson we can share with our kids is, ‘Being different is normal’.” There you have it. Is your thing homosexuality, S/M, group sex, or incest? No probs, it is all fully normal, and the main thing is to give free rein to all your sexual urges, and make sure no one judges you for your particular tastes.

These groups insist that children are sexual from the womb, and the only real damage to them comes from those who say they should wait, abstain, and be monogamous. These are the dangers the sexperts want to keep our kids from. They want to turn our kids into sexual dynamos who will try everything and say no to nothing.

“The experts do not provide teens with all they need to know to make informed decisions, nor is their information medically accurate. They dismiss fundamentals of child development, and omit critical findings in neurobiology, gynecology, and infectious disease.”

With tonnes of detail and evidence, Grossman backs up these claims, and then some. Indeed, it is the detail that really makes for depressing reading. She mentions one former SIECUS president who is now a minister. She is so committed to pre-marital sex that she refuses to marry couples who are not already sexually active!

These groups are not so much interested in science or medicine, safety or protection, as they are in pushing their sexual libertarian agendas. And even if they do tell kids the cold, dry facts on STIs, they are not telling them about the emotional consequences, or telling them that these are fully avoidable.

“For many people, especially teens, the diagnosis is a devastating, life-changing event – the worst thing that’s ever happened to them. To pretend that such an event is unavoidable is nothing short of irresponsible…. The medically accurate message is that all sexually transmitted infections, and the anguish that accompanies them, are 100 percent avoidable.”

She continues, “A life free of herpes, warts, chlamydia, and others is possible. One simply has to delay sexual behaviour, find someone who also waited, and then be faithful to one another.” But that of course is the last message the sex ed lobby wants to present. That runs counter to their doctrinaire sexual license philosophy.

Grossman looks at various other agenda items of the sex ed brigade: the push for androgyny and a genderless society; the push for homosexuality and related alternative lifestyles; the promotion of abortion as the chief solution to the “problem” of pregnancy; and so on.

Every chapter in this well-documented book makes for scary reading. This is nothing less than a war, and it has been declared on our children. Adult social-sexual agendas are trumping the well-being of our children. Indeed, the concern is not for our children at all, but for the promotion of a radical worldview.

It is time to resist all this. Just as we have declared war on smoking and drink driving, so too we need to declare a war on teen sexual behaviour – all three are equally serious and equally deadly. Above all else kids need to be taught how to say no to sexual pressure, and learn how to control sexual appetites, rather than inflame them.

The truth is, not all sexualities and sexual activities are equal. Many are downright dangerous, and we have a responsibility to our children to let them know these truths. Lying to them to push a radical agenda helps no one. Indeed, it is killing our kids.

Griff at 10:28 a.m. Well that is all well and good, but the fact of the matter is that only familyfirst was targeted for removal of charitable status. No other groups have had their charitable status revoked. And it was simply because the view of marriage that they hold, which incidentally people have held for millennia, is now deemed to be politically incorrect and “not in the public interest”.

It is exactly like the IRS in the United States targeting Conservative groups for special treatment. In that case they were audited with a fine tooth comb in the hope of finding something wrong with their tax returns. And even if nothing was found wrong these companies had to spend huge amounts of money for lawyers and accountants to defend themselves against the tax audit.

So here in New Zealand we find that a Conservative group has been specifically targeted to have their charitable status removed because the government doesn’t like what they stand for. This is outrageous.

my partner has a masters 1st hons in educational psychology is a Christian and teachers sex ed she is qualified to evaluate the results of sex ed and in her opinion Your abstain methods don’t work. The number of girls that take the pledge of virginity until marriage who end up pregnant is higher than for the population at large
informed children are able to make better judgement calls then those who are kept ignorant by their parents and teachers.

There was a ludicrous story on Newstalk ZB news at 10.00am today.

It seems that Joan Withers, Chair of Mighty River Power, bought a bundle of her company’s shares after the float at $2.57 each, and that based on yesterday’s closing price of $2.46(?) she had made a loss of – wait for it! – around $1,600.

I consider that the leftie critics’ sole objective in raising this “news item” is clear enough: they want to portray the Chair of Mighty River as an incompetent fool for investing in the company, and by association other NZers (generally people holding an opposing political perspective?) who have also invested. They ignore a number of points:

– Joan Withrs is no incompetent fool, as demonstrated by her business and company director record;
– she used her own money to buy the shares, on the open market, not in the MRP float;
– her actions show her personal confidence in her company’s future (good on her!); and
– she has not made any loss, $1,600 or otherwise; she will realise any loss or gain only when she sells the shares.

This latest MRP nonsense story follows a “revelation” by the Greens a few days ago that a disproportionate number of shares in the Mighty River float went to wealthier individuals and institutions. Did anyone expect otherwise? Did the anti-capitalist Greens think that the float would operate like a WINZ handout programme in which everyone would receive the same amount? Will the left ever understand how financial and investment markets actually work? (Remember, these are the same lefties who want to take control of the NZ economy, including investment of the $21b NZ Superannuation Fund, the Kiwisaver investment environment, etc.).

When will the lefties ever let go of their MRP float defeat, and concentrate instead on the country’s real problems that need to be addressed? Let’s face it, there is no effective political opposition (or responsible fourth estate) genuinely holding NZ’s present government to proper account.

So the government is going to raise interest rates in a few months to cool down the auckland housing market.

As I understand things, this will only hurt the provinces and auckland prices will remain high.

I wonder, if it would be possible to introduce regional based interest rates where interest rates on mortgages differ between different regions.

Certainly there should be restrictions on foreign owners already .

I’m just getting tired of reading the herald going on about house prices all the time.

Our weather often comes up from Antarctica giving us blasts straight from the fridge.
I just looked at the giss global temperature for last month
interestingly it shows warm patches however the region our weather comes from is significantly colder than last decade.
That would suggest that we may have a particularly cold south westerly fronts this winter
climate change may be due to global warming however this does not mean that everywhere will be warmer.
A significant cost is inherent in an unstable climate system as it increases risk of climate extremes on a regional bases.
These extremes remain an unknown quantity. resolution climate modal is to high to predict specific regional variances so far.

The just past milestone of 400ppm is predicted to give us around 2 in that time span. Sea level rise lags temperature rise . Century time span i would suggest 400 600mm rise would be a responsible estimate. That may seem small however I could give you a list of areas in Auckland that flood now including significant flooding on major roads.
Interestingly one effect of warming temperatures is an increase in heavy rain fall events. This has been noticed in England with its historic flooding
There is international agreement that any more than two would result in significant impact.
Mitigate the impact or stop the release of co2 are the two possible solution paths to explore.
Both of these paths need coherent long term strategy that will benefit more the sooner it is implemented.
I hate effn public transport as it represents both a lack of freedom and an evasion of my personal space.
We need the right to develop coherent policy and direction or we really do lose to the green socialist dead end.

No, both statements are true. A dog is a person if the law considers it to have rights and duties, and a man is not a person if he has no rank in society.

The jurisdiction of the districts courts is jurisdiction in personam, i.e. personal jurisdiction. They don’t have universal jurisdiction, so the distinction between people and persons is important when bringing legal charges.
